Far out of my way, but I'd be back often if it was nearby. Parking lot is a little wonky, with two lanes marked "in only," but it wasn't busy. Big area in back if front is crowded. I have been going to CP for over six years now. My go-to, highly recommended combo zombie potent cocktail, spicy fried chicken and fried rice. I've visited China Phoenix in the past and was happy, but on my last two visits was very dissatisfied with their service. They are serving their meals on paper plates and I was charged twice and when I tried to talk to Ben the bartender he started yelling at me. I asked him to stop yelling at me and stated he was in a bad mood and told me I didn't have to come back, I was surprised by his behavior and realize he has a side I never and I'm sure most people have seen before. Was greeted upon arrival for carryout by two clean cut gentlemen who had button down shirts with sweater vests on. Both were extremely nice and professional! Food was fantastic. What can I say? I've been going to this place since the mid-'90s. We recently moved to Indy and I still haven't found a Chinese place as good as this. We came to check on our rental property in Pickerington, and this is where I opted to eat for lunch. The highlight for me is the Pork Fried Rice, plenty of bean sprouts, egg and the pork is cooked in what tastes like ginger, chewy and red. Unlike most places where the pork is beige-ish/grey, long ang greasy. Love the Egg Rolls, too. Wrapping is nice and crispy and the filling is never mushy. Can't go here and not have the Hot & Sour Soup. Nice and tangy, full of veggies and nice hunks of tofu. Plus, all the portions are huge. I know the inside is a little dated, but for me, that's all part of the charm. The parking lot was crowded - and so was the bar area. That's always a good sign. The restaurant was nearly empty, but it was 330p - so that's to be expected. We were quickly seated by the hostess and greeted by the waiter, who took our order as soon as we were ready. I ordered a pork with mixed veggies dish while Art got the Shrimp, String Beans, and Veggies. Both of us also added a Spring Roll and a drink. Our orders arrived in two flights: appetizer and main dish. That was good. The Shrimp Rolls were both delicious and crisp - that was great. Luckily, my drink did not come with the "straw condom" which is so pervasive in Asian restaurants - and something that makes me more worried about germs than a piece of dried food on a plate. Getting an ordinary glass of soda was good, too. However, when Art ordered the lemonade, it was to be served in a can and no refills. That was a little bad. The main courses came out with traditional metal serving lids (nice) and were ample portions. The fried rice was without flair - traditional rice-a-roni look and taste of the original flavor - no punch. However, the dishes were both really tasty, even if the string beans were actually cut green beans according to Art. Stil, we both had enough for take-home after we got full. That was great. The total bill (at lunch/happy hour) came to 28+ without tip. That seems a little high for one seafood dish, two Spring Rolls, and two non-alcoholic drinks. It's like they are using old chicken that has sat under the heat lamp for a while to accommodate my sweet and sour chicken meal.
