The interior design in this spot is very cute- it's under the sea themed and the staff is extremely friendly. They greeted us in Spanish, only to realize we were rusty in our espanol, so the server kindly switched to English for us! She was very accommodating and cheerful. The cocktail with everything was delicious and the shrimp ceviche tostada was awesome. They had full size shrimp instead of it being chopped up. Everything was very delicious, however, I did not enjoy the oysters too much. I prefer smaller shell oysters, and these ones were very big and hard to swallow. They were actually sort of warm, not cold. So it was not very appetizing. I could not even finish the half dozen. I should have asked them up front if they had smaller shell oysters first before ordering. They only accept cash or Zelle, so be prepared! read more

The staff is attentive for the most part. The ambiance is chill on the westside of lb. the outside can be a little intimidating if you're not familiar with the area since there's a lot of homeless activity. This restaurant makes your heart happy and your tummy even happier. It's a fun and relaxing family owned business. You can tell right when you walk in their pride to make people smile and enjoy a great meal. We ordered two shrimp platters. My husband got a very spicy flavor that he loved and I went for a garlic and cheese covered plate. I couldn't stop eating it. Their coleslaw is a family recipe and super yummy. They make their guacamole from scratch too and you can get it as spicy as you like. Their kids menu offers lots of kids favorite options. Portions are great, food is great and staff is even better. **During Quarantine Review: March 2021** My friend and I were melting in the sun and looking for super fresh ceviche to help us freshen up. This spot popped up on my radar. The botana looked amazing and the adorable decor caught my eye. We weren't sure if they offered dine-in, but took the chance to pay them a visit. So thankful we did, because we were allowed to sit inside! Mariscos Las Islitas sectioned off many tables inside, but also had outdoor seating with a canopy. However, considering how colorful, tropical, and inviting the decor was inside I couldn't help but want to enjoy the scenic ambiance. When we were directed to our seats the table had a QR code to access the menu. They had many seafood options, and we decided to split an Botana which had both raw and boiled shrimp, abalone, imitation crab meat, avocado, cucumbers, and tomatoes for about $20ish. They also provided a bowl of limes, Topatio sauce, and salsa (and chips). Oh my gosh! this tower of seafood is enormous and honestly three people would probably be able to finish this. The two of us did our best, but finished about 2/3 (and we had an empty stomach to start with!). A fantastic deal and the limes on the side provide the perfect acidity to bring out the freshness of the seafood. Service was great, and I can't wait to go back! Two thumbs up! read more

At work, my coworkers know me as a Yelper, but it was my coworker who found this place on Yelp and how we ended up here for lunch the other day. Our group of three intended to dine at another restaurant but found it closed so one of my coworkers jumped on Yelp and off we went. This place is on Santa Fe, south of PCH. I'm not sure how keen I'd be going here at night. Lots of parking to include a small private lot behind the restaurant. Interior decor reminded me of a place you'd find in Mexico, on the beach. Not sure why but it just did. The server - nice and friendly - multilingual; patient too. Later found out she and her family own the place. The food (see pics) was pretty good. I opted for the three shrimp tacos. Two sauteed and one deep fried. Smaller shrimps which for me works with tacos because when using full size shrimp, you tend to get less pieces. Lots of condiments. Add some salsa which has decent flavor - fresh and not too strong and I devoured all three like I hadn't eaten in days. My coworkers also raved about their dishes. One had the fish tacos and the other had the flautas. They offer take out which looked to be pretty steady on our way out. read more

My first time here (otherwise it may get 5 stars). I got the shrimp enchiladas, rice and beans. The rice and beans were well prepared ( I like to mix 'em up). The chips and salsa are also very tasty. The salsa is very flavorful, and not overpowering. Just a hint of heat to it. The shrimp in the enchiladas were both bountiful and delicious. Solid for the price. Carne asada tacos are flavorful. Tostada mixta - shrimp, crab, fish & octopus. Generous portions generally but light on the shrimp and octopus and heavy on the crab and fish. On it's on the flavor was a little lacking but if you add a few wedges of lime, cilantro, tapatio and cocktail sauce it's delicious. I add these things to my order (no charge). Chips & salsa - the chips are perfect! Thin & crispy. The sauce is tasty with a bit of spice but a little on the watery side though. Shrimp cocktail - solid but better with cocktail sauce and salt.
