Mariposa restaurant in Nieman Marcus at Boca Town Center mall is a great choice for a leisurely summertime lunch with some friends. The atmosphere is bright and cheery, the staff is very attentive, and the menu options are light and tasty. As soon as we sat down the iconic NM popovers and small cups of consume arrived. The popovers were fresh and delightful. I quickly ate mine and wanted (but didn't request!) another one. On the other hand, the consume was so salty that we couldn't take more than one sip. This was unfortunate because it had a rich broth flavor. The lunch menu features a wide variety of salads and sandwiches. One friend had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It came with panko bread crumbs rather than croutons, which were nice but lacked the crouton crunch. Two others enjoyed the NM chicken salad on a bed of greens. It was served with fruit and toasted almond slivers. It's a popular dish at Mariposa and my friends both thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the "sampler", which consisted of a cup of soup and a half-sandwich. I opted for the tomato bisque soup and the chicken salad sandwich. Both items were flavorful and delicious. Other soup options available included lobster bisque and chicken with orzo. The little chocolate squares that we were given at the end of lunch provided the refreshing sweet finish to our nice meals. I went here to celebrate my birthday with a friend. Reuven was our waiter and he did a nice job. I ordered the lobster salad and a black coffee. At the end I remembered that they usually do something for your birthday so I asked ever so politely. We asked for a chocolate chip cookie and they added a candle and I ended up taking it home! What inspired me to eat here? I got a perk card and decided to try the restaurant! Mariposa is located inside Neiman Marcus on the 2nd floor near the home section and elevators. As soon as I was seated I was presented with a delicious popover with strawberry butter and an espresso cup size of soup. Yummy. I would come back just for that. What I was planning to order was out so I got the blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries because I love bacon jam although don't ever order bacon on my burger. The bacon onion jam came on the side. Not sure why cause it's delicious. The tomato and lettuce mayo and ketchup was also served on the side so I imagine it helps with avoiding personal preferences of wanting less or more of something. I personally feel you should eat it as the chef intended. Of course that doesn't apply to every place. The sweet potato fries were rather bland and clean. I don't care for them in ketchup. I ordered a hot jasmine tea and it was dammann one of my favorites and it was perfect with lemon and honey. As a finale with the check I got a sweet treat. See photo. read more

We do an annual Friendsgiving holiday lunch every year and we chose Mariposa after we attended a baby shower and we're amazed at how good the food was. We left dreaming about those popovers and chicken broth. Our lunch yesterday was so delish! We had Eric who was the best server! I may refer to it as Needless Markups, but I have to admit Neiman Marcus is one of my favorite department stores. And I especially like the Neimans in Boca Raton because it's home to one of my favorite places for lunch... The Mariposa Tea Room is rarely crowded, although my mom and I were forced to find 2 seats at the counter yesterday...but that's probably just because it was Black Friday. Didn't matter much though because the service is still excellent at the counter. When we first sat down we were greeted by a waiter with a delicious popover and tiny little cup of soup...the tasty popover alone always puts a smile on my face and immediately made me feel better about all the $ I've dropped on clothes. Finally, something FREE from Neimans! The good food doesn't stop with the popover. The chicken salad, which comes with fruit and a freshly baked muffin, is my standard order (my mom is a big fan too). However, yesterday I was still full from Thanksgiving dinner the night before and ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup instead. I can go either way on tomato soup, but this I'm a fan of! I thought the size of the salmon was skimpy though. The salad was okay but I think they could have been more imaginative with the vegetables. I would have liked to see some oyster mushrooms and raddiccio lettuce to jazz up the salad. I would expect more creative and unique veggies at a restaurant in Neiman Marcus. I thought the lobster bisque was way too salty though. The flavor was pretty good, but it was overshadowed by the saltiness. I drank a lot of water after leaving here. Located on the second floor of Neiman Marcus, you can either go up the elevator, near the parking entrance but, I recommend the stairs where you are greeted by beautiful hanging butterflies. Love how they have the hallway, where you wait to be seated, filled with candy on both sides (another thing I love, colorful candy stores). less than 5 minutes we were greeted and seated. They offer Champagne drinks, tea, coffee and more. They started our meal with a chicken broth, the lady serving us calls it 'fountain of youth', with a biscuit. The broth was very tasty, perfectly seasoned and perfect for the cool weather that day. They also serve you, to start, popover with a strawberry spread, not too sweet. Menu is a bit limited, yes they have salads, paninis, pasta, etc, but it's just about two variations of each. I decided on one of their pasta plates with chicken, tomatoes, artichokes, in a 'light tomato sauce'. Unfortunately not too good. The chicken was really dry, and the sauce made the plate look soupy. Think next time I'll order a salad or panini, this is what the rest of my party had and were very satisfied, plus all around was what people were ordering. I just got a pot of decaf vanilla tea, made about 2 and half cups. $5 And also had a piece of raspberry cheesecake. $7 The tea was very delicate and smooth, warm.. just what I wanted! 5/5 And the raspberry cheesecake was scrumptious. I loved the smooth (not too creamy) yet clean taste of the cheese cake. The service was great also. The waitor was attentive. It is a great place to go when you get tired of shopping. I love the Neiman restaurants. Some are better than others. It has been a few years since I visited the one in Boca Raton. It was the best for service and food that I have had in years. Lee, our server was the best! My food was great. I eat the same thing at all of them the Mandarin Orange Souffle platter. It was great, My friend got the Iceberg Lettuce Wedge with Shrimp... it was A++++, I ate one of her shrimp and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned.... I will be back again more often. read more

Kudos to the Chef at Mariposa for adding some fun to the menu. One of the specials this past Sunday was an amazing sandwich called "The Bottom Feeder". With a name than un-NM-like, I had to try it. Three different cheeses, bacon, crab and french fries and dijonaisse on sourdough pressed to golden perfection. To be clear, the fries were inside the sandwich. Decadently fun! Served with coleslaw and pasta salad, but who has time for sides when faced all that other deliciousness? Why 4 stars instead of 5? Well... "The Bottom Feeder", as advertised was made with a crab cake, instead of lump crab meat. Not being a huge fan of the NM crab cake, I asked that mine be made with crab meat instead. We ordered two, and had one of each version at our table. Turns out I was right. The crab cake was too overpowering, while the crab meat was the clean fresh flavor the sandwich called for. Everything was perfect. To the Mariposa management - keep it fun. It'll keep the under 50s coming back. read more

Boca Raton is about a 45 minute drive from Palm Beach, so my parents make it a day trip - and by that, we make it a shopping day at the Boca Town Center Mall. Basically, this shopping centre is a larger version of Palm Beach's Garden's Mall and it has absolutely every store you could want. From Ulysee Nardin (where the cheapest watch in this store is $7000 for a basic model) to Victoria Secret, Louis Vuitton to Yankee Candle. For the department stores, there are the signature Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomy's and of course Neiman Marcus where Mariposa is located on the second floor. My parents and I have been coming to Mariposa for lunch for the past 3 years now and we love it. The interior is absolutely beautiful: large, bright, and airy. FYI! The menu is GREAT for the calorie-counters as every item has caloric, fat, and sodium details. There is also a separate "skinny" menu with food items less than 500 or so calories. My mom started off with the lentil soup (cup size) and she can't stop raving about it to this day. If you love lentils and curry/spices in your soup, then you should try it. My dad had the daily soup (tomato puree) which was tasty. For mains, my dad had the skinny version of mac and cheese with crab meat which he devoured in no time. Both my mom and I had the lobster roll, and to both our disappointment, the bread was not a brioche, buttery type of bread, but rather some dry croissant thing. I ended up eating the lobster meat which was just fine. FYI: You always are served a small espresso cup of chicken soup served with a small cheese scone and lovely, warm pop overs. That is why I didn't get any appetizers as I was already ingesting more carbs than necessary. All in all, if you want a more refined alternative to dining at Boca Town Center, I would recommend Mariposa. We have never made reservations, although you can. The drinks menu are extensive with delicious berry cocktails and signature reds and whites and champagne's. Service was efficient, but not warm. I noticed the waiters are very busy bustling here and there and it seemed that our server was never around to clear our plates or ask how we were doing, just because she was so busy with tables. But, this did not really affect our lunch at all. The food, drinks and atmosphere more than made it up. I can't wait until I come back here next year! read more

I have been here many times for lunch and it is always a delicious, wonderful experience. Everyone is treated to a small cup of chicken soup with cheddar biscuit and a hot popover with strawberry butter. For lunch, I usually order the mandarin orange soufflé and often substitute the chicken salad for tuna salad. The soufflé is amazing and unlike something you can find anywhere else. The fruit, muffin, and salad that it comes with completes a healthy and hearty meal. Other great things I've tried are the burger, tomato soup, and Mediterranean appetizer (which alone is enough for lunch if you aren't too hungry!). This place is definitely pricier for your average lunch but it is worth it. Most dishes are around $16 but you can get the Mediterranean appetizer for $12. For dessert, everyone gets a small piece of gourmet mint chocolate. To top it off, the service is always spectacular and the ambiance is wonderful. Wow, that's surprising to hear a bad experience there. I have lunch there weekly and the food is great. I had a bad ahi salad once and sent it back. It was a special. But I usually get their signature salad. Their popovers are awesome and the waitstaff at the bar is superb. They are very nice and always remember me. But I do agree the manager is rude. She seems very unhappy and has no social skills. She has never ever greeted me or said goodbye to me. She'll just stare at me with a frown on her face. Nut I always come back for the food. read more

I visited a little over a year ago Nd have been meaning to add a review, especially after receiving inferior service and food elsewhere. The Mariposa Tea Room is classy elegance at its best and should you expect anything less from Neiman Marcus after all? Right from the get go, my guest and I were warmly greeted, invited in, and seated even though we were there 10 minutes before they were opened. We were then greeted by the manager, the bar tender, and eventually the chef. It was quite the celebrity treatment that I'm sure some celebrities don't even get. The food was presented artfully and explained thoroughly, and was nothing even close to standard fare you'd get elsewhere. Well worth it. The shrimp was enormous and crunched as though it was the best of the best and freshly caught. Fish 'n' chips...possibly the best I've had hands down on either coast. My memory fails me as to what else we enjoyed, but it was so extraordinary, beautiful, and delicious, I have pictures somewhere. I really enjoyed this restaurant not only because of its convenience of being right in the mall, but also for good food. When we got to the restaurant we were happily seated fairly quickly. Although, when we sat down the table happened to be dirty and the silverware had water stains on them. I understand there is not much you can do about the silverware so I just continued my meal. We had multiple appetizers and our entrees were really good. Overall I think the food was on point but they can work on the appearance of the restaurant. read more

Yes, five stars.... Service is totally impeccable, friendly and NOT snotty at all, a miracle for Boca in itself, but totally suprising for Neiman Marcus. Went in today for lunch with husband and daughter for her birthday, after getting thrown out of Serendipity @ The Boca Resort (you can only eat there if you are a guest at the hotel or member of club, ew). Well, serendipity has a way of working out, because lunch was fabulous! You are greeted with a small cup of delicious chicken broth and tiny cheddar biscuit, followed by a massive popover served with strawberry butter, all while you are just looking at the menu. Menu choices range from soups to salads and sandwhiches, with a few entree style choices as well. Not the most extensive menu I have seen, but certainly enough choices. They do have some rotating daily specials as well. I had the grilled chicken chopped salad, which had a ton of very fresh grilled chicken, avocado, cheese, bacon, carrots and lettuce. My only complaint is the lettuce, I would think they could do better than iceberg and romaine. Little one had the mac n cheese, which came with a nice fruit salad, drink and dessert (ice cream or cookie) Husband had the grilled veg tart, their version of a quiche that came with a nice salad. This is by far my favorite restaurant to bring my mother to lunch. It's expensive but the food and the service are very high quality. I can always find a nice vegan dish and my mother really likes the soups and salads that are on the regular menu.
