We live this busy place. The service is great and they pay very close attention to what you need. We ordered the salmon and French dip. Both of these dishes were amazing. We started off with the grilled artichokes. They only have them once in a while and what a treat. We enjoyed the meals very much. The staff always cleaned up and removed plates and stuff after everything and came by and asked all the time if we needed anything. It's a place that we would visit weekly. Very good staff

Excellent date night spot in Boca Raton the restaurant has a fancy steak house vibe with plenty of seating. The service is always efficient and attentive. The food is top notch my must haves are the spinach artichoke chip which has beautiful chunks of artichoke to cream ratio. The burger and chicken sandwich are big enough to split both are mouthwatering delights. They both come with fries but you are able to substitute for any of the side options. I highly recommend a dinner date here as it will not disappoint!

Wow, I used to come to this location several times a week because I thought it was so good, I was nearby today and I decided to take my family to come and have an early dinner, we have their $55 Hawaiian ribeye, which probably was the worst kind of meat I ever had this used to be my favorite, second favorite was the ribs and the ribs were overcooked and dry. My mother-in-law had a French dip. It was OK. I had a baked potato, always great. Their french fries, ouch, I don't know what they did to the recipe, but they're the worst i've ever had. They used to be thin and crispy, now they're average and soggy. Do not recommend.

Went with my daughter, we enjoyed. Started with cocktails I had the crush which was really really yummy!! We shared the grilled artichokes, really good. I had the chicken sandwich side of kale salad (very very thin chicken); she had ribs, fries, kale salad. We enjoyed ALL. The ambiance was nice, the service by Emily was on par.

I love this Houston's! The ahi tuna is so tender and tasty with a nice sweet kick to it. The mushrooms served with it are amazing. I subbed the cole slaw for a loaded baked potato which was really yummy. I highly recommend their smoked salmon appetizer it is one of the best I've had and the dipping sauce is so flavorful I think it has garlic and green onion in it. Pro tip make a reservation as it gets extremely crowded. Also they don't have it on their drink menu but they make a great mojito!

I used to like coming here pre-covid, but it's gone downhill. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and asked for a different dressing and I was told they couldn't do that. Instead, they offered less dressing on the salad and a second kind on the side. This made no sense. Switched to the cheeseburger (no cheese, no bun), and that they could do. First burger was way too salty, sent it back and asked for no seasoning, which helped. It was okay after that. Had coleslaw instead of fries. First batch with the salty burger was great. The second batch? Tasted like it was in a mustard dressing of some sort. Not even close to the first one. Service was slow. Our server barely checked on us and never came around to offer us drink refills. Also, kind of odd, but all the female servers looked the same. They had the same style makeup, same hairstyle (braid), and most of them had brown hair. Overall, this was just a very disappointing visit. The food wasn't great, service was worse, and prices were too high for what we got. Won't be going back, too many better options nearby.

The service was excellent, the food delicious. They were out of the grilled artichokes the night we visited, however they had guacamole (not on the menu) which was excellent. I ordered the seared tuna salad, the tuna was perfect the salad fresh, my friend ordered the steak perfectly cooked. The place is always clean , maybe a bit too dark for some but we liked it.

Most times, the experience at restaurants is not solely determined by how good the food and drinks are but more about how the people there made me feel. And for the price point and caliber of the restaurant, I would NEVER revisit this restaurant again. First impressions are a real thing and it's a huge factor in the overall experience. Outside of the fact that the place itself was nice and my food was delicious, the old fashioned I ordered was subpar. I've had a better old fashioned from the cigar lounge right up the street. I ended up ordering a Tito's & club instead. From the time I sat down to the moment I received my food, the bartenders never checked on me. It felt like the kind of restaurant where you had to reach out to them as opposed to them checking on you. I've had better food, drinks and service at other restaurants and for that reason, I'd never go back to this restaurant, especially this particular location.

I have been coming here since they first opened in 1990. The food and service are always consistently very good. Had a lunch meeting with my financial advisor. I tried the SASHIMI TUNA SALAD, pan-seared ahi, mango, avocado, mixed greens, cilantro ginger vinaigrette but I got the tuna raw, very good. My friend chose the RUBY RED TROUT, lightly seasoned and hardwood grilled, served with coleslaw. That day, they substituted artic char for the trout. he enjoyed it.

Reliable GooD food and suPerb Service! Pro Tip: Make a RESERVATION! Impressive well oiled restaurant. I haven't been to my local Houston's in ages but this Boca location was flawless. ++. Ambiance is expected darker moodier comfy space plus Western lodge / beams vibe. Their exterior garden waiting area was super cute and was tastefully done. ++. Food is updated American. We came here for their babyback ribs which were fall off the bone tender. They were well executed especially if you like their BBQ sauce which one of my family members would drink. I substituted fries for their sautéed purple cabbage with goat cheese that was delicious as always. For me, more impressive was their Caesar salad as it's rare to find one that I'll actually finish. I prefer mine made from scratch. Their kale salad was enjoyed as well. Most impressive was their grilled artichoke appetizer. We saw it on the grill on our way in, ordered it and it was astonishing!! The BEST artichoke ever :)) +. Price is slightly higher. +++. Service was impeccable at this location... best Houston's experience ever! I've tried both Atlanta and Pompano locations. They were helpful, efficient, courteous and not rushed. They do A LOT of business here and were fully booked. With declining service level at so many places, this Houston's has kept theirs in tact :) +. Parking is free in a semi private office-park lot in front of Houston's. MY RATINGS --- Inhumane -- Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE... WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

    Ruby Red trout with Tabbouleh

This was a Saturday night and even though most of the Seasonal residents went north, this place was still mobbed. It was difficult to get a parking spot at 6 pm. We were greeted and seated within a few minutes at a circular booth. It was very noisy but still bearable and I could hear my friends talk. All the tables are booths so it's hard to have a party larger than 4 people here. It's very intimate though and they have a large bar where lots of patrons gather and enjoy. The open kitchen overlooking the dining room is fantastic. I love watching them cook. Chelsea was our sweet waitress. She made us comfortable immediately and offered drinks and appetizers. We did order the spinach artichoke dip with chips for the table. Without asking, extra chips were delivered to fill our partially empty bowl. Paul and I shared the traditional salad which came with bacon bits, cheese, corn kernels, tomatoes and greens. It was fresh and delicious. I totally enjoyed my Red Ruby trout entree and tabbouleh side- right up my alley. Paul had the rib eye Hawaiian style which melted in his mouth with French Fries. He had asked the kitchen to slice the beef because of a handicap but they said "NO". Chelsea offered to do it but we said that I would do it. That was upsetting. My friend had a Caesar salad and the huge cold shrimp for dinner. There were 3 colossal shrimp which truly filled her up. Dave had the USDA PRIME FRENCH DIP thinly sliced roasted prime rib piled high on a house-made toasted French roll and Cole slaw. He enjoyed it. To our surprise, the restaurant does not offer decaf coffee. Therefore we did not order dessert. Unfortunately there was a double entry on our check which we caught. Chelsea was embarrassed and very sorry for the mistake and had it corrected. So to sum up, we enjoyed our dinner but there is room for improvement.

Houston's Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Houston's Restaurant

    Is there a children's menu?

    No there is not.

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?

Outside seating closed until November As far as I know, I've never seen a dog at Houston's, inside or outside.

    Is there outdoor dining available?

Yes and No. They don't have normal outdoor seating. They have an outdoor waiting area and people would order Apps and Drinks while waiting. Eating a complete meal would not be easy.

I was at Houston's last evening in Boca Raton. Their famous Grilled Chicken Salad with Peanut Sauce was off the menu. I wonder if this is just because of the limited menu during Covid 19?

I believe limited for Covid but they no longer offer grilled chicken on any other salad besides grilled chicken salad which is back

The Boca location is always such a long wait. Annoying every time?

Totally agree. They should take reservations for large parties.

The restaurant has an old time charm of a steakhouse, with top notch service for the most part. Victor was nothing less than 5 stars assisting me with my OpenTable issue...he definitely went above and beyond, and comp'd a dessert for us for the inconvenience to no fault of theirs. As for the food, Cesar salad was underdressed and lacked Parmesan cheese, with pieces of romaine too big for a human bite...who wants to be cutting up salad to eat? The lobster casserole was recommended by a friend...it came drowned in enough oil and saturated breadcrumbs to make anyone choke, lacked salt as well, however it was perfectly cooked. The bone-in ribeye cut was less than I would have expected from this restaurant...I had a big piece of silver skin, and it was rather lean taste and texture more of a sirloin than a fatty, marbled ribeye...more like choice as opposed to a prime cut imo. It was, however, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato was barely warm...we finally flagged down our server and asked if it be heated ... we were at that point already 1/2 way through our meal. By the time they returned, I only took another 3 bites as I was finished eating. The potato was put under a broiler for a hot minute as the very top was slightly warmer, better...but underneath was still the same. The creamed spinach was amazing, reminded me of Peter Lugers in Brooklyn! Now the best was dessert. The butterscotch bread pudding was delicious although we wished it was crispier and thw chocolate layer cake was the BEST I've ever had, light and just the perfect balance of sweetness served w/ a big scoop of schlag (again for my Peter Luger fans)! A little inconsistent I'm afraid is probably why we hadn't been back all these years.

On top of providing recommendations, he was so kind and professional + a very cool positive attitude that made us feel welcome We had : Roasted bone marrow w truffle gnocchi - this was incredible you have to order Churrasco : perfectly cooked tender and delicious Onion rings: too big fur my preference nothing diecisl The coolest thing I found on this spot is that they have a special menu that changes every day ( just a page of the entire menu ) from this menu I ordered the lobster roll - a sushi roll that had a perfect blend of flavors that governed my tastebuds for a moment It was incredible Meatballs: really good perfect appetizer to share I didn't park at the restaurant but I noticed it had valet - also the server shared Wednesday is ladies

Meat market is an upscale steakhouse and the decor matched just that. Make sure to dress appropriately. We ordered the cajun ribeye, the crispy rice, lobster mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and the mac and cheese. My favorite items were the cajun ribeye and the crispy rice. The meat was cooked to perfection and the ribeye was juicy! The crispy rice was one of the best I've had! I have no notes on the quality of the fish or flavor, it was divine. I only wish that the crispy rice was warm. For the sides, I would order the lobster mashed potatoes but pass on the mac and cheese and creamed spinach. Those were lacking flavor and were just ok to me. Overall, I enjoyed Meat Market. I'd recommend for a nice dinner, anniversary, or girl's night out.

After coming here for over eight years, this place continues to satisfy my Brazilian food cravings…read more The team at Pampa Gaúcho hasn't just maintained their standards; they've raised the bar in both service and variety. They have added grilled pineapple, which is perfect for cleansing the palate between meats, and a grilled white cheese with honey that is delicious. The polenta is no longer served at the table, but it isn't really missed. The salad bar is well-stocked with fresh greens and several savory sides that are always plentiful. The meats are served frequently and are always cooked to your preferred temperature upon request. For dessert, my favorites remain the passion fruit mousse and the brigadeiro cake--they even brought me the mousse with chocolate sauce when I asked! The atmosphere is private and cozy. It isn't ostentatious, yet it feels special enough for a celebration or a nice casual dinner. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

We had a 7 pm reservation but upon arrival we were given a pager and we were not seated until 7:30 pm. 3. There is no ambiance. 4. The salad bar was less than small. 5. We asked for water so they brought us a bottle of water while we were at the salad bar and then charged us for the bottle. We would not have drank it had we known that there was a charge for it. 6. The restaurant was way overpriced. The price was comparable to restaurants on Las Olas and the quality of the food was not nearly the same.
