This place is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. The guacamole is sooo good, and so is the queso, and the hot sauce. It is very reasonably priced. The large bowl of guacamole is about 10$ and they give you different size choices of the queso. I could make a meal just on the queso, hot sauce and guacamole. Do you see a theme in this post? It really is a awesome place. It's definitely not a quiet place, but the food more than makes up for the noise level. In reading reviews of this restaurant and learning they charge for each basket of chips after the first one that is complimentary we most likely will not go there. Only one other time have I experienced this anomaly and it was during the 80's. Even back then I was surprised that a Mexican restaurant would charge for refills of chips when chips and salsa are the mainstay of any Mexican food place. A lot of people judge a Mexican restaurant by how well they like their chips and salsa. I do as well. Charging for what most restaurants provide as complimentary is an immediate turnoff for my family. It's like giving free ice in your tea glass but charging for refills of ice on each tea refill. read more

Our waiter brought out anothers table order to us.(same meal, but they ordered first) She asked if we had started eating/touched the food as she watched me eat the beef fajita off the plate. She said another table had ordered their meal before us and before I can even say anything she takes the food away.When she returns I ask to speak to a manager. She said the manager was very busy and would come over when he could. She asked if I wanted to talk to the manager because she took the plate away and I said yes. She said since the other table ordered first it was theirs, I said do you think they are okay with me eating off the plate she said she took it to the back and they added some more meat since I ate off it. I told her that didnt make any sense and thats gross and I still wanted to talk to the manager. We finished eating and the manager still hadnt made their way to the table, I asked a busser for a manager she went to talk to the same waiter and still no manager to be seen. Very dissatisfied. The food was good but the service was lacking. We were there 1 hr 20 mins and they were not busy. We ordered bean and cheese nachos. They came out and I ask for jalapeños. Hard to say this but Mariachi's has has gone downhill pretty fast. The service is no where near what it use to be and we also noticed that there was just something off with the food as it did not taste as good as it did when they first opened. The last straw was that the restrooms were always filthy on every single visit here so I could not just blame it on the fact that they use to be so busy. My friend had been hyping this place up so much saying how good it was, so I finally had the chance to come on a Sunday with her and a couple other friends. It was somewhat busy for Sunday, but our food came out pretty fast. I got the enchiladas with rice and beans and I gotta say the beans were a 5 out of 10 and the rice had no flavor it wasn't good the enchiladas were good surprisingly. Also they charge you if you want another basket of chips how is a table of 4 supposed to only share one basket of chips?? It wasn't enough! The one good thing about this place were the drinks!! When we brought it to our servers attention she brought the "manager" to speak to us. He says the prices are changed on the computer but not on the menu. Hard to get someone on the phone and when I do the bartender who answers is short and rude like it's bothering them to place an order. They act the same in person. Completely short and ungrateful. Ordering to-go is an unpleasant hassle. Did not receive the side of rice or fajita toppings with my order, chips and salsa and only received 2 tortillas for an order that's at least 4+. If you are looking for Mexican food this is not the place. This is an overly Americanized Tex-mex joint with zero flavor. We had a table of five and the only one who enjoyed the bland food was my 4 year old. The salsa came out half frozen and tasted like tomato sauce. Food had no flavor. You have to pay for every basket of chips after the first one. The server was less than friendly. The only thing I kind of liked was the guacamole. That's the only thing that was made fresh. Everyone else at the table enjoyed the guacamole as well. Also, the bathrooms were very dirty and gross. The do not seem as if they care about their restaurant at all. Don't be fooled by the good reviews! Husband and I went here as we were passing through and seriously so disappointed. 1 star is for the good chips and salsa. The queso had to be the canned nacho cheese you get at the store, and the guacamole (not table side) was a green goop? No flavor on either. We both had enchiladas. They were cold and didn't even seem cooked all the way through. There is also no filling besides just the meat, thought that was odd compared to other places. I called in an order to go for one order of sopaipillas. It was 6.48. I looked the next day and they had charged my bank 10.48 (it was a charge, not pending). I called and finally got a hold of someone , Carlos (supposedly a manager) I explained to him what happened and he yelled something and hung up. I called again and he said give me a min. and hung up! I called back and a girl answered. She said she couldn't help me and when I asked to speak to the manager, she said that Carlos was the manager along with Martha who wasn't in. I ordered a Long Island ice tea, it was undrinkable I alerted the waitress and she slid it to the side. they brought my ticket and tried to charge us 50% for the drink. I explained their is a full glass less two attempts to drink it in front of me and I am not paying for it, I was then told not to come back. terrible service by the manager. Food was good but beans were cold. They charge for your second basket of chips! Boo! We had a nearly full margarita knocked over by accident and the glass broke. No one from the restaurant staff came to help clean up the spill. We asked for another margarita. When the bill came, they charged us for the replacement drink. I spoke to the manager Martha who said it wasn't their fault and the glass broke so we had to pay for the margarita. She was rude and the service staff was unfriendly. We have been to Mariachi multiple times over the past few months and service, food and drinks have never disappointed! Servers are friendly and attentive, food has great quality and taste and the Margaritas are the best around IMO! We even got a nice song from the Mariachi band that visited and our girls loved it! read more

I have been to this restaurant several times and never had any issues. Today was definitely different. Arrived at 11 ordered beverages made our order and 45 minutes later, as other customers who arrived after us started getting their food. Mind you we arrived there at 11 before numerous other patrons. When asked the server informed us that our order was not input into the system for some reason but they were working on our order. Needless to say we paid for our beverages and left. Mariachi is back opened in Terrell! They have the best Mexican food we have ever had! We had the fajitas- beef, chicken, sausage and shrimp. It was so good. Beans and rice were great. The table side guacamole was the best. They were very busy on Friday night but got us in quick. Service was great! Can't wait to go back next week! read more

There was no ambiance in this restaurant. The food is overpriced and prepackaged. Even the queso came out of a bag. The meat was precooked. The food was terrible. My husband orders the Parillada mix and it came with 2 tortillas (not made in-house) the size of my palm. This is a rather big plate of fajitas so this doesn't make a lot of sense and forces you to order 2 more tiny tortillas for $1.50. I have no issues paying for extra things but a typical restaurant would give you 2 -3 regular sized tortillas for any fajita plate. The menu was too big with too many options. It might not be so bad if it was organized but there is no rhyme or reason to their menu. Everything was very bland. The chips were scorched tasting. I'm not sure how they've kept a second location afloat if they're serving the same things at both. Save your money and go somewhere else. We won't be back to see if they have improved. read more
