Our LJS closed so we drove to Terrell for our LJS craving. The food was fresh and hot. The staff was friendly. The inside was nice - 50's retro style.

Went there to eat and absolutely NO ONE was working yet it was open. Waited 10 minutes and nothing.

Business is closed. Building and signs are still there. Cov 19 killed a lot of business.

The consommé paired with them really elevated the dish and brought everything together. We also ordered the tableside guacamole along with chips and salsa, and it was clear right away that everything was made fresh in-house. Such a charming, cute, photo worthy decor. The food was delicious, with a very large menu. Everyone was so kind and polite. And the drinks were well done. For our food, we did white queso (super flavorful), guac with the fixing (honestly super fresh) and empanda birria, which we loved. Since it was our first time here we really wanted to try a few different things. Chips were the super thin kind which we like. I probably am not a fan of the warm salsa but thats preference. He got the birria tacos, amazing. I got the chimi with shredded chicken. Super cheesy. Well done. Maybe on the rich side, but good. All that for less than $100 with tip. Seriously I am sold. Cant wait to come back!!

And whenever we take a drive like that, we make it our mission to find a highly rated local lunch spot. This one was on the way home and looked promising, so in we went. I will say this for Texas. Onion rings are everywhere here, far more than when I lived in California. I will happily take that as a win, because the heat for about nine months of the year is not my jam. Sadly, the onion rings were not listed as one of the many sides (so we couldn't get them as a side with our meal), but we ordered them as an appetizer ($8.99 I think) with blue cheese dressing. I am not a ranch girlie, and I stand by that choice. The blue cheese had huge chunks in it, which makes me think it might be house made (bonus point!). Now, the rings. I am firmly Team "Battered" Onion Ring over Team "Breaded", and these absolutely delivered on the team battered. They were almost chicken-fried, -- super craggly, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These were the star of the meal, so do yourself a favor and order them - but you need a friend to share them with, its a heavy portion. They also have great lunch specials, most around eleven dollars. I got the pot roast with two sides, refried beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. After indulging in the onion rings, I was not exactly starving, so I ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.

I've given them some time before I decided to Yelp them to let them get out the kinks associated with a opening a new restaurant. As I get my order and leave each visit, the resounding sentiment is that there never seems to be any urgency to get your food out fast at this location. Now keep in mind I'm not ordering anything custom made or out of the ordinary, just sandwiches, fries and drinks. The only request I make is no pickles on a few of the sandwiches which 90% of the time is messed up anyhow where I get the pickles. And to be honest with you the Chik-fil-A menu isn't that extensive to warrant issues. I've been 1st in line and 10th in line and unlike other Chick-fil-A locations (especially the Forney one) the employees are just plain slow and seem unsure of what to do. I was the only one in line and at the window the other day and it took 10 minutes to get my food. When you finally get to the window there are no fewer than 6-8 people inside filling orders or cleaning the area around the drive through window. Now with all of these people you'd think it would take no time to get 4 sandwiches, 3 fries and 2 drinks, right? Wrong. I usually have to sit there for a while and watch all of these workers scurry around to what end I know not. There's always a manager around but she's bouncing around as well directing them what to do. Things just don't seem to be organized as a finely run machine like you see at other Chick-fil-A locations. However, the workers are friendly enough and the food is good. They just need to get with the program and pick up the pace a bit. P.S. - And remember 'no pickles' means 'no pickles', not sure why that is so stinking difficult.

I asked for rabbit food on one of my sandwiches and actually got lettuce (not a dusting) and two full slices of tomatoes on both halves (that makes 4 slices). The mozzarella sticks were the size of hot dogs and I got four of them. Even though this out of my way I'll be coming back again.

With that said I'm just going to give my honest opinion on how our visit went. The employee who took our order seemed to be unhappy about something as we received attitude for simply ordering two Philly cheesesteaks combos. (Pleasant employees make happy customers, Unhappy employees make for bad reviews) The dining room was filthy the drink station was nasty and the ketchup dispenser was empty and partially disassembled (broken) and the trash can was full and overflowing. These details are all important because there were no less than 8 to 12 employees only half of which were actually working the other half were milling around. I'm hoping it was just a bad day in the grand scheme of things because I did have high hopes for this location as it is the closest to me. I will revise this review if anything changes but in my experience, they rarely do. as the old saying goes first impressions are everything The only reason I gave them three stars was despite everything above the food did come out as expected, the food was tasty and the portions were the right size for the price. To management or owner: just because you're located in a Walmart doesn't mean you have to manage it like a Walmart. The secret sauce to success for places like In-N-Out Burger, Chick-fil-A, and Raising Cane's is cleanliness, quality control, and enthusiastic employees. One of three isn't good enough
