We decided to spend a day shopping at the Tanger outlet malls in Terrell Texas. While there we all decided collectively that we needed something for lunch! Directly in front of the outlet malls is a little restaurant called Mariachi so we decided to give it a shot! It is an older building, but don't let that fool you. The ambience is fun and there is even a really neat statue in the front foyer that you can take selfies with if you so choose. Inside we were led to a booth where we had a very nice waiter. We ordered lunch, my boyfriend ordered a fajita flank steak with sides, my daughter ordered a shrimp quesadilla and I ordered the flautas platter. Walked into Mariachi for lunch thinking I was about to enjoy a simple steak burrito. You know... one of those wildly complicated orders that included ONLY steak, cheese, beans, and rice. Apparently I accidentally requested the "garden fresh surprise" edition because it showed up packed with lettuce and tomatoes. No big deal, mistakes happen. I politely let the server know, expecting the standard "Oops, we'll fix that." Instead, I got hit with the customer service equivalent of a UFC uppercut: "Yeah, that's what you said." After explaining again that I specifically said ONLY, I was then informed they'd have to charge me for an entirely new burrito if they corrected it. Over lettuce and tomato. Not because I ate the whole thing. Not because I changed my mind halfway through. Simply because their version of quality control is apparently "good luck everybody." The best part? Rather than fixing the burrito, offering literally any solution, or attempting basic conflict resolution, they just let me walk out. Imagine losing a customer over shredded lettuce. That's commitment to the principle. I didn't even get to try the actual food, although based on the chips and salsa, I'm not sure I missed a life-changing culinary experience. To be fair, I wasn't rude, I wasn't demanding, and I fully understand mistakes happen in restaurants. But if your first response to a simple correction is "pay for another one," then maybe the problem isn't the burrito. Stayed in Terrell last night and ordered a steak quesadilla to be delivered from Mariachis. This is what was delivered. This is the first time I had ever had a tex mex restaurant send me food with a deep layer of oil at the bottom of a container. Ordered chips and salsa as well. The only thing I child eat was the chips. The salsa was very watery and sour. Not sure why anyone would eat here. read more

Went here after a day in Canton Trade days on Saturday. Our waitress had an attitude from the beginning. My husband asked for club soda and she said they didn't have any. Mind you they have a bar, so we knew they had it. We ordered a queso with sausage and it was exactly that with tons of grease sitting on top. I realize sausage has grease, but this was in excess. We asked the waitress if we could exchange it for regular queso due to all the grease and she said no, we asked for the manager and she also said no. We asked them to take it away and they still charged us. I did ask the bartender on our way out if they had club soda and of course they did. We've gone to this restaurant for 20 years before they changed names and I assume owners. I want to like this place. I've tried a few times. The waiter was a bit abrupt and dismissive to start. This is our go-to for Mexican food in Terrell. Portions are huge, and the food is really good. Salsa is great, although the chips are just ok, Service can be a little slow sometimes, but we've also had very quick service, too. I met a group at Mariachi in Terrell to eat on Sunday evening. I went there 5 minutes early to check out what was gluten friendly on the menu at the very least, but gluten free, hopefully. I was told there was NOTHING on the menu that I could eat! Literally everything included wheat flour. Why this Mexican restaurant doesn't use corn flour in much of their recipes is mind-boggling. (Or, at the very least, leave off the spices that have flour mixed with them and use normal spices.) I will be going to my customary Los Hermanos, and do without Mariachi. We eat here Sundays after church quite a bit and we always have great food and service. There are tons of seats for all size parties. They are very accommodating for folks in walkers too. My husband and I were hungry and saw Mariachi from the freeway so thought we'd give it a try. We were immediately seated and served chips and salsa. The chips were light, fresh, and YUM! The salsa was thick with a perfect amount of spice (medium). Our food came out quickly. I had the Enchiladas Mexicano (modified with one enchilada having sour cream sauce on it). My husband had the Tres Amigos. Both plates had a lot of food and we had plenty left over for another meal. My enchiladas were good. I would not get the sour cream sauce next time, however, as it only tasted like sour cream rather than having any other flavor to it. My husband enjoyed his whole meal. Service was good. Food could be a little better. Chips are slightly stale and not freshly made it would make an egregious difference if they were freshly made. Salsa needs some help as well as their regular side of guacamole it's very mundane and bland. The table side guacamole is far better but also cost more.
