The good - our waitress was a sweetheart, pleasant, helpful & attentive. The mediocre - Our food was ok, though they were out of hashbrown potatoes so I substituted home fries..... chunks of potatoes deep fried, not very tasty. The bad - my bacon was litterally burnt to the point I couldn't eat it. As far as inside/atmosphere/cleanliness...... not very clean inside. My wife had to use the women's restroom and came right back out and said she would wait to go, bathroom was atrocious. I hate to give a bad review but, have to state the facts. 2 stars was generous for and given because of our stellar waitress. read more

Food is great and prices reasonable. Lunch special is $9.99 with 2 sides and everything is homemade. This is my favorite go to spot in Terrell, having tried out most of the other cafes. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews but give this mom and pops restaurant a try. read more

This place is always amazing! The employees are so friendly and the food is phenomenal! The catfish is awesome and the homemade sides are delicious! Just like Mom and Grandmom made! This place has great food!! My fiance goes more than me here, but the times that I've came here the chicken fried steak has been good, and they have a fish special (all you can eat) that is good on Saturdays. They also ask if you want rolls and cornbread too. Chips and salsa are good, and the service is good too. *****UPDATE 2/14/15 Seriously our go to cafe for just about everything! Beef enchiladas with queso on top is way better than las hermanos! Fajita special on Fridays are so yummy! Burgers have good quality meat and believe me everything is plenty of food! Reasonable place for satisfying a comfort food craving. Had the chicken fried steak which was nicely done. Crispy breading and moist chicken. Side of Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were at par. Friendly service. You pay at the front when you finish your meal. Quite busy during weekday lunch service. read more

This was my second time eating here. The first I ate here I had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with fries. This time I had the same thing. I like it the same. I forgot to ask for peepers this time. The service was good. The place can use little updating but overall good experience. I have to try something new next time. We read up on this restaurant before we decided to give it a try. The four of us we seated and given one set of silverware. It took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. It was not busy. We finally flagged someone down to place our order. We then sat for 45 minutes waiting for our food. The food was not hot and tasted terrible! My husband ordered a chili rellano which was total mush. I ordered tacos. Rancid tasting meat. No idea how this restaurant receives such high ranking. The people are nice, but that's it. Oh yeah, the price is outrageous! read more

We were looking for a good breakfast restaurant and since there were lots of vehicles outside this location we decided on this restaurant. Went into the restaurant and found it to be very dark. The front windows having western paintings on them and there are ceiling fans on the ceiling with very low wattage light bulbs. It is even difficult to read the menu form the poor lighting. Ordered the two eggs medium well, bacon, biscuits & gravy and grits. My spouse substituted hash browns for the grist, otherwise our order was identical. The waitress was most efficient in taking our order and bringing us water and coffee. The meals were okay as we had 5 pieces of thick sliced bacon which was rather good. The eggs were small in size however fried as we had requested. The biscuits were good as was the gravy. However the gravy was way too thick and may have been sitting for a minute or so. The waitress gave us plenty of butter patties and jelly and kept out coffee cups filled. Now the negative. The inside of the restaurant is in a bad need of renovation and cleaning. While a good cleaning would help for the time being, there is a greater need for renovation. Went to the rest room and found them in even worse condition. I am passing up this restaurant the next time we are in town unless I see where the place has been renovated. read more

Great place to go when you want a variety to choose from. Everything I have tried has been good. Ine of my favorites is their Chefs salad.

I loved this place for many years. They have a new (to me) server who seems to think he is doing me, and others, a huge favor by serving us. I do not care for his almost snotty attitude. Even though I love the food, I can go some place where my $ is apreciated. FYI owners. read more

Horrible Food Horrible service nasty place have no ideal how it has a 4 star rating. Not very friend staff went I and was a little bit before you get acknowledged then they just expect you to follow them when they grab a menu with out saying anything they seat you and 10 minutes roll by you might get a drink. Menu showed 4 piece catfish got 3 on my plate. I asked why it was only 3 was told because it was a lunch special that I guess they have written on the wall behind me ( why they give you a menu have no ideal) I guess your supposed to order off the wall. Before I start my review I will give a disclaimer. This is a restaurant my cousin and aunt wanted us to go to while visiting and I looked at reviews before I went. I saw 3 stars and 6 reviews and those reviews differed a lot. I have theories as to how that happens but that's not important here. I do wonder why only 6 reviews given that the place had been in business a couple years according to my aunt. But onto the review. This review is based only on this meal. My cousin said no matter what you see, stick with the catfish. Therefore, when I got my menu, I only scanned it briefly and did as told. I ordered the 4 catfish fillets with 2 sides, which were black-eyed peas and mustard greens. Yes I was staying with a pure southern theme. The catfish fillets had a perfectly seasoned corn meal coating that was crisp, hot, and you could not have convinced me those fish were not swimming earlier that moment. The mustard greens tasted like they were prepared by somebody's southern grandma, and the black-eyed peas were just as tasty. It was actually slightly more than I should have eaten but I are every bite. It also came with a side salad and hush-puppies, which were also terrific. I didn't finish the salad as my plate came before I could finish. I don't know what the other plates are like as all 4 of us had the catfish. I am on vacation so it will probably be my only meal there but I will look forward to the catfish the next time I come home! read more
