We started out with my husband's newfound favorite, the clam cakes. I appreciated the herbiness of the breadcrumbs they were fried in. My husband got the crab roll for his entree, and I did like the bite I was able to sneak of it. I really wanted the lobster roll but that $42 price tag turned me away quickly. Instead I got the fish and chips with pollock for my entree. I am always complaining about portion sizes. Not here, I was only able to finish around 1/3 of it. It is substantial! Not only was it a generous portion, but it was really nicely fried, and I loved the flaky salt on it. My one complaint is the sauces that you pay extra for. I got some piri-piri mayo and garlic aioli. Both of these were absolutely not worth it, grossly lacking in flavor. Don't waste your money on these and stick with ketchup. The staff was friendly, helpful, and as attentive as they could be from inside the food truck. The locale is super cute with a bunch of picnic tables out on a patio. The parking is super limited though so beware. Would definitely recommend!

The lobster roll was not only full, but it was packed with huge chunks of meat, very tasty, it was also served with French fries. The clam chowder was also tasty, with good flavor and decent chunks of clam inside. Prices here were a bit high, but the quality of the food was very high, and very fresh. Portions are decent, as we were able to share one lobster roll and a cub of chowder, and it was adequate. They also had live music playing to add a little ambiance If you find yourself in downtown Providence, I'd recommend this as a staple to check out.

The sauce and the tuna was so good we didn't leave a trace of anything on that silver platter. The Crudo was to die for! Fresh fish was amazing and the olive oil was so good it just brings it to the next level. We were were not hungry after these two dishes, but we had to try a dessert with the experience so far. We opted for the cinnamon bun ice cream sandwich. Although it was good, I expected better. The cinnamon bun was a bit dry. After the quality of the tuna and crudo, I was expecting a super soft bun with the a ton of icing dripping down. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit. I will be back again.

For drinks we ordered the floor is guava and label and love. The mocktail options were delicious and the appetizers were quick to come out. The lobster bisque was so good!! It had pieces of lobster in it which some restaurants miss out on. For an entree I ordered originally the local monk fish but they were sadly out of it. I ended up getting the fresh frusilli and it was so yummy! The freshly made pasta with the shrimp and scallops were so good. I was initially disappointed with the size of the scallops but there was an abundance of them in the dish. The salmon was good with the light side of the tomatos and honey vinaigrette. We had to get the rest of our meals to go to have space for dessert! The citrus olive oil cake was so refreshing! The creme brulee was so creamy and not overly sweet. The coffee milk was rich and delicious as well. I definitely can not wait to come here again!

Ultimately I had the 2lb boil with 1lb of mussels, 1/2lb of shrimp, and 1/2lb of clams in the captain Loui sauce with a side of garlic noodles. Our waitress came back quickly with a bib, gloves, and a bucket for shells. Not long after our meals came out and let me tell you everything was excellent! The seafood was cooked perfectly, plenty of sauce, and even the corn and potato were out of this world. I ordered the sauce medium and it definitely had a nice kick to it. The garlic noodles had great flavor, a little clumpy but with a little of that captain Loui sauce added on top it fixed the problem. They are sweet, but not too sweet for pancakes. I didn't use much of the maple syrup. The hash browns were really yummy. The bacon and sausage are just bacon and sausage. I wanted to compare the puffcakes to regular pancakes and they are very similar, just the puffcakes are fluffier. If I come back, I would order one of the more different/unique flavors because the price is a bit much for something to be quite similar to regular pancakes. I enjoy the drink of my coconut water with foam on top and edible butterfly. I believe my husband got a coffee latte drink which tasted a lot like Vietnamese coffee (which is a good thing for us). The person who answered explained that they weren't taking reservations that evening, but they did have one outdoor table left if we could make it there in time. Despite the challenges of navigating Providence during the World Cup festivities and the Cape Verde Festival in the Fox Point area, we managed to get to the restaurant and secure that last table. We are incredibly grateful to the staff at Aguardente for helping turn our evening around. Our daughter and son-in-law were hoping to enjoy one last dinner with both families before leaving on Monday for a special assignment in South Carolina, and the unexpected closure of our original restaurant had left everyone feeling frustrated and disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the team at Aguardente made us feel welcome. The food was excellent, the drinks were wonderful, and the service was outstanding. Most importantly, they helped transform what had begun as a stressful evening into a memorable celebration with family. Half of the menu is not in English (very chaotic how some portions are in English and others are not, it doesn't seem consistent), so we had some questions, such as "what does x taste like?" and the only response we got was "not too sweet"....okay, but what DOES it taste like? She spoke very fast and I couldn't understand her listing off the specials, even though she didn't really have an accent. She left partway through while we were there so I guess she was just at the end of her shift and checked out, but it was so offputting how rude and unhelpful she was. When our servers transitioned, we offered to cash out then since we weren't getting anything else and wanted the original server to get her tips, but she started joking around that we didn't have to do that - which I appreciate, but we actually did want to get going and get cashed out, but she refused to give us our check. I asked three times and she still wouldn't 'let us do that'...very weird. Food: there were not a ton of vegetarian options that appealed to me. I went a little overboard on plantains by accident, which is my mistake. I first ordered the Rellenitos with cilantro crema sauce, which were very good and a flavor combination I wasn't expecting. The dough to filling ratio was a little off and they were pretty dry inside, so I needed a lot of the sauce. An order only came with 2 and I wish it was more. I'm glad I ordered something else - Tula Fries, which came with the same exact cilantro creme sauce as the Rellenitos, even though they are described differently on the menu, which felt lazy to repeat a sauce. The sauce didn't go well with them at all in my opinion so I did not enjoy these as much as I would've liked. My friend enjoyed her drink, but thought almost all of the meat on her meat and cheese board was either low quality or close to going bad. It was priced reasonably, which we were shocked by, but she couldn't eat a good portion of it sadly. We did really enjoy the baked flava bean snack that was a part of it. The board weirdly came with just half of one small, half rotten strawberry that looked terrible - it would've been better to leave it off. Towards the end of the night, there was so much water on the floor in the hallway that goes to the bathroom and passes the kitchen - I had to walk through it to go to the bathroom, which felt like a safety hazard. My friend was on crutches and wouldn't even try to get over there since we knew she'd slip on all the water. It just looked terrible and was dangerous, so not sure what we going on that there was such a water issue there. Their specialties and more meat based dishes are probably great, but there just aren't a ton of things for me to eat here. I'd be willing to try it again for drinks and apps if the service wasn't so unwelcoming.

When I got off the elevator, I could not belove how loud this place was. There was a busy bar (but it's not a huge bar area) and the restaurant was about forty percent full. The noise level was dramatic and the hostess agreed, but explained that because it was raining, the roof top doors were closed, and when they do that it's always loud. Note:. I called to make reservations, and was told they didn't have a reservation system yet. I asked how long they had been in business and was told a month and a half. It's a shame no one can figure out the old fashioned way, with pen and paper. This place self-promotes as romantic trendy casual upscale. The noise level removed any romance. It also bills itself as a seafood restaurant, but when I think seafood, I think Hemenways, and this place can't even compare. There were approx five selections of pizza, five selections of pasta, and five standard plated entrees - a chicken, a beef, and scallops, swordfish, and one I have forgotten. It's just not a typical seafood... Legal seafood, Hemenways style offering. I had scallops, they were a little cold and just ok, my companion had a pasta dish. She said it was awful, with rubbery pasta. When our waiter Caleb first came to the table, I said get closer, and speak up.. We can't hear you. He was an attentive waiter, but could have used better training. As we were eating out entrees, he came and offered us fresh place settings, I said " too late". A manager never visited the table to check in. Valet service was excellent. We went to the Waterman Grille for dessert. Does that tell you anything? My companion went home hungry. I won't rush back, certainly NEVER on a night the roof doors might be closed, and I won't go hungry. If anything, this place might go under, and then someone who knows how to take a reservation, and manage a restaurant will take the space. Very disappointing. read more

The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and offers a well-curated selection of dishes. However, our overall experience fell short due to a few service and comfort-related issues. We received our appetizers before our drinks, and unfortunately, our server seemed more focused on attending to larger tables, which left us waiting with empty glasses for a noticeable amount of time. Additionally, the air conditioning was extremely cold, making the dining environment uncomfortable. Despite politely requesting that it be turned down, the temperature remained the same, which impacted our enjoyment--especially when our food, although served hot, became cold within minutes. While the ambiance is lovely, the lack of attentiveness and consideration made for a disappointing visit. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning in the near future. read more

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the dinner service at the Mare restaurant in Providence, and it was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, the evening was spectacular. A special mention must go to the two bartenders, Johnny and Derek, whose expertise and warm personalities added an extra layer of enjoyment to the night. The Igloos at Mare Rooftop are amazing!!! What a unique and amazing experience it was. This was my first time at Mare, and my friends and I were so impressed. I thought it was really nice how we were able to order food in the Igloos as well as drinks. For dinner we shared the Mare Tower and Prosciutto & Arugula pizza. So tasty! The manager Victoria was so sweet and personable. She went out of her way to welcome us and the entire staff made us feel so comfortable. 10/10 for food, service and ambiance!!!!! read more

In terms of the dessert my two favorites were the deconstructed sweet potato pie and the rhubarb crumble.

When I am stumped about where to take a guest or guests, I never go wrong with this place--it's so close to me as well. It is one of Warwick's best-kept secrets. First, their dinner-for-two with a bottle of wine lives on, though I no longer enjoy the revamped menu, and the price has gone up. It's just better for me to order off the regular menu now. For starters, they have warm bread, roasted garlic that is so soft and moist to spread on the bread, olive oil, vinaigrette, and parmesan to par if you fancy. Their dishes are filling, and the dessert choices are ample. As a rule, I do not eat dessert after a meal, but here, that rule is kaput. So worth it. They also always give you complimentary limoncello shots. On my most recent visit, we ordered the Mediterranean Calamari for starters, the generous Seafood Pescatore, Pan Seared Black Bass, enjoyed with Meiomi Pinot Noir, and for dessert, something special that I cannot recall. We opted for glasses of wine, the Chianti and Nebbiolo, which were fine. She quickly sent over water, and provided us with menus. Our first surprise was the menu. Oh Mon Dieu! Where are the French dishes. My co-diner was looking forward to some French Onion soup. Fleur however, was serving Clam Chowder (a standard menu item), and the soup du jour was ironically... Chicken and Rice. Missing in action were the Boeuf Bourguignon, Coq au Vin, Cassoulet, Confit de Canard, Quiche Lorraine, and of course, the French Onion Soup. So, I decided on one of the only French dishes on the menu, Poulet au Citron - Statler chicken, lemon, white wine, tomatoes, artichokes, lemon caper sauce with potato au gratin. $32 My co-diner opted for the Lobster Roll. This was a warm lobster roll, known as a Connecticut Roll - Butter poached lobster meat, served on a butter roll (served warm), Fries, fried wontons or greens. $35 The waitress offered mashed potatoes, fries or the au gratin with my dinner, and I chose the au gratin which I typically like and because it is French inspired. The dinners arrived quickly, which wasn't a complete surprise as we were still the only patrons. Overall, the chicken was pretty good, with a nicely crisped skin, though it was a small portion. The au gratin was terrible, the cheese top was very hard and overdone and the potatoes were too stiff, perhaps a little undercooked. The sauce in the dish with the artichokes was underwhelming, and relatively bland. I tasted the lobster roll, and though there was plenty of lobster, I thought the meat and roll were dry. When the waitress checked on our dinners, I told her I shouldn't have taken her advice and selected mashed potatoes as the au gratin wasn't good. She nodded but didn't apologize for the kitchen or offer a side dish of mashed potatoes, something one would expect in a fine dining restaurant. The main thing that is French inspired at this restaurant is the name. If you're looking for some quality French cooking, you should look elsewhere. If you're looking for an excellent steak, I'd suggest walking down the stairs to the Omni lobby, where you'll find Fleming's, an excellent steak establishment.
