Haven't been here since the building changed, so I decided to check it out. I took my fiancée here for her birthday. She loves seafood, and I figured this would be a good spot. And it was an amazing experience! The food was served quickly and professionally, and our waitress Brie was very professional. It was a little on the pricey side, but it was definitely worth the price. If you're in the Westampton/Mount Holly area, definitely give this a go. Revised review after visit #2. Beer and food selection is very good, nice clean, great atmosphere. Food was good. Friendly staff, helpful manager. Clam strips and sauces were great. Excellent size portion of salmon, wedge salad was good, would have liked tomatoes. Love the pumpernickel bread and soups. Peanut butter pie dessert was so good. Dad liked the cheesecake, kids like the funnel cake. Kids pizza was okay, Kids fish and chips was nice sized and good. Service staff needs to be trained better on menu options/substitutions and efficiency. We got some food before our drinks arrived, no extra napkins, server took a while to do most things and get back to check on us and wasn't familiar with menu/specials. Today was our 2nd time at Marblehead and it definitely won't be our last. Staff is very friendly. There's a lot to choose from on their daily feature board as well as their regular menus. The lunch selection is very good, with dishes of fish and meats. We are fish lovers and the dishes we have had are fresh and we love that all fish can be prepared in a variety of ways. A nice open feel to the place, not packed in like at other places. A little disappointed in the Caesar salad, for a seafood place I was counting on anchovies, or at least an authentic dressing, it was clearly just something out of the bottle, decent size salad though. The oysters were fresh and good sized. Crab was great, a full pound, shell was perfect to crack, not soft or soggy, cooked perfectly. Good happy hour options. As we waited to be seated we chatted up the Hostess, "Niki" (?), who was adorable, outgoing and friendly enough. However, that's as good as it got. Full Stop!!! Once we were seated our Waitress, "Riley", literally ruined our evening with her "I don't care" attitude towards the Hostess, which carried over towards us as well. Not sure if it was due to a total lack of understanding, or an inability or unwillingness to admit that she doesn't have an eye or the attention span for detail, as she got a portion of our order wrong, and then proceeded to give us a snarky attitude regarding that fact. As for the food itself... VERY lacking in flavor and WAY OVERPRICED!!! And then there's some idiotic Treasure Chest they use as their dessert menu. It is so gimmicky. Not sure if it's this generations lack of care or just plain stupidity, but one things for sure, we look forward to the next restaurant that will open once this place is gone! read more

Chowder House with no Bread Bowls? So let's start with the good; lobster and shrimp Mac and cheese was SMACKIN delicious. Perfect combination of cheesy and creamy with just the right amount of shrimp and lobster. Definitely would recommend. The New England clam chowder was marvelous as well, but I have to say I was quite disappointed they didn't have bread bowls. When choosing a place for lunch, I heard Chowder House and automatically thought of some delicious hot soup in a fresh sourdough bread bowl. I think that this establishment would do good to bring in some bread bowls, and would attract a lot more clientele. The menu is OVERWHELMING, so many options and so complicated. Our waitress was new and training, the server routine seems too complicated. Every server brings a chalk board and drags a chair around the tile floor to put it on and then goes over about 20 different things with customers. Yes, they drag it and it makes tons of noise. It just seems a little un-put-together, and by the end of it our entire table was confused. Chopped salad was interesting, I guess I was expecting an Italian chopped salad but it was more of a random mix. Leafy greens with some sort of white creamy dressing, dried cranberries, feta and green onion. It wasn't bad, but was quite a confusing mix. Dessert menu is served in a treasure box, with a bunch of different candies. Again, I'm sure it was well thought out but the presentation is lacking and a little messy. I am not sure what to say about this place. I was really excited to try it and I had seen many reviews online. I was happy to see a seafood place in Westampton. We went and I think it was the old Charlie Brown. Inside looked really big with the different rooms. It looked like they did a little to make it look like a seafood restaurant, but still seem to have a bit of a dated atmosphere. We were promptly seated and greeted by a very nice server. She presented a board of daily specials that she left on a chair next to our table along with brining out some warm rolls and butter. The menu is rather large. We decided on a spicy calamari appetizer and mixed grill entree to share. The meal also came with another side, so we chose a Caesar salad. The salad came out first and was a big salad, enough for us to share. There was a lot of dressing on it but it was still a good salad. We had the calamari and the entree come out at the same time as we were splitting both. The calamari was very good and had a lot of the squid along with the rings, which I like. The mixed grill entree was very bland. The grilled shrimp seemed like it was boiled first. It had no seasoning or flavor to them. The steak, while tender, also had no flavor or seasoning. The chicken was also plain and bland. Looking back at the menu, it did state there was supposed to be a scallion butter, which we did not get. After dinner, our server brought out a treasure box filled with candies and the dessert menu. We were pretty full at this point, but that was a cute way to present the desserts. Reasonably good food, but suffers from some management flaws. Of the 3-4 times I was there with friends for lunch, the place was empty. Nearby restaurants are always packed for lunch, why not this place? A written beer list is usually unavailable and you have to depend on the waitress remembering what's on the many beer taps. I prefer to peruse the choices before deciding what I want. One didn't even know what an IPA was. Every other place has a drinks list, the bar manager better get with the program. It's not that difficult. They resist requests for separate checks. Why is that? The place is empty, and a group of friends don't want to figure it out when the computer easily can, especially when I like a drink and they drink iced tea. Just laziness, I guess, or they want to discourage larger groups. My gang doesn't want to go there anymore because of that. read more

The ambience is lovely; this place has been totally refurbished. It is huge with a bar and enclosed patio-style area. It is super clean as are the bathrooms. Our waitress was Melissa. She was excellent. Super efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to explain the menu to us since it was our first visit. The house bread (one was a raisin roll--delicious!) was served warm with plenty of butter on the side & was tasty. We had the white sangria, Caesar salad, crab stuffed shrimp and twin tails. First time here while in town visiting and I didn't know what to expect. This place was a pleasant surprise and the food was grassy. We went for dinner, parked in the lot and were greeted by a friendly hostess. We sat at a table by the bar (arrived around 5pm) and shared a calamari appetizer. The calamari was very tender and lightly breaded which was great. My house salad was a side tk my pasta and came out early upon request. We both had pasta entrees and my Mom said her scampi pasta was too lemony. She also ordered a side of asparagus which was returned bc it was over cooked and stringy. The seafood fantasy on the other hand was delicious. I had to add salt and squeezed some lemon and also add a little marinara sauce to make a works sauce and it was delicious! Scallops were cooked perfectly, fresh crab meat and shrimp did not disappoint. The mussels were fine but I'm not a mussel fan per say. Even without the addition marinara sauce, the sauce was good. It was very soupy and not thick and creamy but still good. Finally, we're ordered the bread pudding and it DELICIOUS. Very moist and lots of raisins but it was still good. It comes with a whiskey sauce but don't worry, you can't taste the whiskey. We got the sauce on the side. Overall, I'd definitely return next time I'm in town. Oh, and they have a rewards program you can sign up for with $10 off your next visit for 2 or $20 off for 4. It's been a year since my last review here. I will say the food is good. The firecracker shrimp are spicy good! The sampler appetizer is huge and gives you a change to try a few things. The clams casino are delicious. The chowder is smooth and creamy. I enjoyed the broiled scallops and shrimp over lobster risotto. The risotto was ok. The restaurant seating areas were spacious and clean. The cook staff got our order prepared and tabled, just as we were finishing our appetizers. I ordered the lobster bisque as my appetizer. The chowder was flavorful. My wife had the warm crab dip. It was pretty good and cheesy. I had the Salmon en Croute. I must say it was tasty. The puff pastry was just right. I also had a Caesar salad with Ranch dressing. The dressing was pretty good. My wife had the tenderloin tips with lump crab meat (oscar style). I would suggest asking for your tenderloin tips to be cooked to your doneness preference. Hers were medium rare. They were tender, but she expected them to be closer to well done. She also got a crabcake. It was packed with crabmeat, and not a lot of filler. We both got unsweetened iced tea. They have simple syrup to sweeten the tea. Our waitress offered it to us since sweet tea isn't on the menu. Cash/Credit/Debit are accepted here. There is ample parking available in their parking lot. I would suggest reservations if you plan to eat dinner here. There wasn't a wait when we arrived for lunch. There is a Captains Club Loyalty Membership program that is free to join. We were invited to join some family for dinner and trivia night on Thursday. I remember when this was a Charlie Browns, now its a seafood restaurant with so many different options. We were fortunate to make reservations since the restaurant was also packed. It later thinned out for trivia, but still quite busy. They have some great craft beers on draft as well as their signature cocktails. Plenty of parking in their large private lot. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Lots of nautical design and decor. We were seated at a round table near the bar area. I ordered the Lobster Mac which had very large chunks of lobster claw meat. A very nice happy hour at the bar however, it's only Monday through Thursday not the typical Monday through Friday. Be careful of the drink prices as sometimes they list a special that really is a bit pricey. Staff can be hit and miss, some nice and friendly and some quiet and shy. We went here the other Friday around 4:30pm. Had a great meal. They give you a huge house salad, bread service, fish was all fresh (and according to their menu, wild caught). We all went home happy. Menu has a lot of options. They even bring a cool little treasure box to your table with some candy in it for the kids and the dessert menu. Nice touch! Went Went to the Chowder house today with my wife we were told that it was going to be a 30 minute wait. Which was very strange because there were seating other people that came in after us that didn't have reservations. The restaurant setup was very beautiful. Our Waitress Josephina was very helpful and kind and on point the food on the other lack taste I had the fisherman feast . For our meals we ordered the crab Newburgh with salad and mixed veggies and the salmon en croute with broccoli and crab fried rice. Dessert was a shared pumpkin cheesecake which was small, but tasty. So here's why took away two stars, my lobster bisque came out and it wasn't as hot as I like it though delicious. Then my salad to my meal came out which was ok looking. Yet the whole time my husband was sitting there with nothing because the buffalo shrimp never came out. Finally our meals come and he mentioned the shrimp and our waitress was like oh they forgot, do you still want them? My husband did still want them so she brought them out. At this point they were luke warm and soggy we I didn't enjoy them. I took one bite and just sat it down. Also the crab Newburgh wasn't what I expected. It was just pieces of unseasoned lump crab in a little butter with a lemon wedge. It was definitely fresh and tasted ok but I wasn't wowed by it. My husband enjoyed everything aside from the buffalo shrimp. Also we ordered unsweetened iced tea's. My husband got his flavored with strawberry. I personally don't drink a lot while out so I'm good with one -two drinks max, but my husband drinks a lot. We were not aware that there wasn't free refills until we saw the bill. It would have been nice for that to be communicated. Overall we would go back and try it again. Since it was so late I really couldn't finish my food. The lobster bisque was filling to the point I still had some left along with the majority of my meal. The portions are decent and so are the prices. I just actually finished my leftovers which reminded me to write my review. My suggestion is to try this place for yourself. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive. I got the feeling that if you came regularly they would call you by name. My husband had a delicious salmon en croute and really enjoyed it. I had a Caesar salad to start, and it was wonderful. I don't recommend the shrimp and broccoli alfredo: the shrimp tasted like the box they came in, and I had to saw at the broccoli to cut it into pieces. The alfredo sauce was meh - no real flavor. I brought most of it home and I'll cook it with some seasonings and finish cooking the broccoli. On the whole, I would go back, this time for more salad and a bowl of lobster bisque, which might leave room for one of their desserts! read more
