We were seated next to the window with great views of the lake and cute baby geese wandering around outside. Michelle was our waitress, but collectively the whole staff was fantastic, helping clear the table and refilling our cups without us having to ask. The buffalo chicken pizza had crispy edges, and the celery gave it a satisfying crunch with every bite. The shredded chicken on top was spread thick and evenly across the pie with a nice heat kick to it that didn't overwhelm the other flavors. The zucchini fries came with a delicious dipping sauce, and the fries themselves were very delicate and perfectly cooked. The lobster ravioli with rich vodka sauce ended up being a great dip for the crispy crust from the pizza, though I do wish there were more ravioli pieces in the dish or that it was plated a bit more generously. The eggplant bake was also really good with a great tasting sauce all throughout the dish. It had lots of layers and was definitely a big, hearty portion. LaScala's Birra continues to be a top choice for waterfront dining with excellent food and service.

I discovered this place in an online search for dining experiences near Andalusia Historic House,…read moreGardens, and Arboretum to follow a tour there this past Friday. The Michelin Star chef and positive reviews caught my eye, but the menu -- especially the cocktail menu! -- was especially compelling. (Please note that at the time of my posting this review, the cocktail list on the restaurant's website and the dessert list are NOT up to date, so I have added a photo of their spring menus that just launched.) The food and drinks were a solid 10/10. My partner and I started with the Spanish Grilled Octopus, which was mind-blowing. This restaurant knocks punchy flavors and umami out of several time zones. We both ordered the Cast Iron Miso Black Cod, which comes with a heaping portion of pleasantly-herbed root vegetables. The cod was so luscious, buttery, and silky. The flavor was majestic. Rapturous. I hope it stays on the menu forever. I'm normally more a fan of autumn/winter drinks than spring/summer because I loathe the emphasis most establishments place on gin, fruity /sweet/sour flavors, carbonation, etc. The center of my cocktail universe would a well-made Vieux Carre or a Sazerac with the absinthe left in the glass, and everything else revolves around this like a supporting cast. SO, while I was initially dismayed that I had just missed Revell Hall's winter cocktail menu, this feeling passed quickly when I saw how creative and spirit-comprehensive the new menu is. I ordered the Jade Lagoon (pictured below). I've never experienced a drink like this, and I don't have the proper lexicon to do justice to its beauty and complexity. It turns out that the mixologist is Steve Mazzuca from Bathtub Gin in NYC, my beloved former home. What a phenomenal choice for Revell Hall and a special connection with New York! Service and atmosphere were also fantastic. Although the dining area is a bit spare and modern, bringing the beautiful corner view into the space was clearly the intent. The bar area is gorgeous and has an upscale, warm elegance. I can't wait to go back and try the Squid Ink Pasta with Lobster.

Extremely disappointing experience tonight at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill on Mother's Day…read more My wife and I waited about 15 minutes just to be seated while watching at least five groups who walked in well after us get seated first. According to the greeter, they were all walk-ins too. I tried to brush it off as Mother's Day chaos and stay understanding. Unfortunately, it only got worse from there. After finally being seated, we waited around 45 minutes for our food. My wife ordered the steak penne, and it arrived not even lukewarm. I ordered a ribeye that was undercooked and completely unseasoned. To make matters worse, our silverware was dirty, and we had to ask twice just to get clean forks and knives. Even then, we waited another 10 minutes before we could actually eat. What makes this especially disappointing is that this restaurant meant something to us. This was where we had our first date, our wedding night dinner, and our first anniversary dinner. We came back expecting a special night and left genuinely let down. I understand holidays are busy, but basic service, food quality, and cleanliness shouldn't completely fall apart.

I first tried some take out from them when my husband and I just moved into the area, & I was trying to get a feel for the good food spots. What I got was ehhhhh not memorable. It confused both of us that it seemed like a nice building, but the parking lot was never full- even on the weekends. A girlfriend of mine was visiting this evening, and we originally wanted to venture to Curtains Wharf for an outdoor on the water experience. An hour and a half wait, no thank you, and I said hey, let's go to Il Portico-been meaning to. Inside is very dated. It's got the vibes of a 1950's Italian cigar lounge. Again not busy, maybe 5 or 6 tables the whole twoish hours we were there. However, the staff seemed to really be trying to accommodate you, everyone was polite and helpful. A cocktail list and wine by glass list would really go far. We got some bread for the table, some of it was kind of rock hard & looked day old, but some of what looked like focaccia bread was good. We got excited for carpaccio on the apps side, but were disappointed to find it wasn't beef, but salmon (?) in an Italian restaurant? Odd. And we also saw a lot of Tuna options for entrees, again, odd. I did want steak originally, but NY strip isn't my fave, and I opted for Veal Medallions- very good. Sauce was delicious, veggies cooked just fine. $12 for an Arugula starter salad with legit, one tomato wedge was again ... odd. My friend had the beet salad and Branzino special, said they were both good. Only off thing was her Old Fashioned had the coloration of a Shirley Temple, but the flavor was on par and good. A couple weird little moments but we really enjoyed ourselves & would love to return.

The menu is very wide-ranging (a bit of a red flag), so I asked our very courteous and knowledgeable server for recommendations and she steered me to the seafood risotto. My wife ordered the salmon with risotto. (she always orders salmon). While waiting for our food, I nursed a happy hour margarita, which was one of the best I've ever had. Now I know why it's so popular for happy hour. Our entrees arrived about 15 minutes later and we were dumbfounded by how stunningly good they were. Both were absolute home runs in every respect. The seafood risotto was packed with jumbo shrimp and other morsels of seafood on a bed of risotto that was just incredibly savory and delicious. My wife's salmon over risotto was similarly superb, with a milder risotto perfectly attuned to salmon's subtler flavor. There was just no end to the superlatives being expressed after every bite. For dessert my wife ordered the cheesecake with fresh fruit and I the creme brûlée. Naturally we tried each others desserts and switched since my wife liked the creme brûlée better and I the cheesecake. I normally don't order cheesecake because it's generally ultra sweet with no other flavor, but this one was wonderfully fresh tasting; I've never had anything like it! Service was excellent, the space very comfortable and not loud. And the prices are super reasonable too. Cannot recommend it enough!

I looked at the menu earlier and was all set on getting a seafood dinner, but when we walked in the smell of steak was so good I changed my mind. She's from Boston and she thought that was the best clam chowder she's ever had. It's New England style. Drinks were good, no complaints there. Dinner for four was about $300 including tip. A little expensive but not too bad for the quality of the food at a place like this. Good looking and friendly staff. I'll certainly go back.

Actually in all my years of Yelp. I do not think I've called any restaurant "phenomenal" till now. It's a packed house any time of the day. You can call and make reservations but not sure that'll help. This is a revolving door of customers. And seeing that I never felt like I was being rushed out. I had the BLT sandwich with egg. And to say I get a blt at many breakfast spots I go to is an understatement. But this BLT was.. and again I'll use the word phenomenal. I mean the eggs weren't cooked hard. The bacon was not small abs far from the thin bacon on many sandwiches. It all went so well perfectly together. Never tasted anything like it. Put together on multi grain toast, that have it even more flavor. The fresh fruit I got with it was a great addition to the perfect sandwich. My son recommended I try the purple haze drink which was delicious. Lemonade with lavender flavoring and cane sugar and mint. Great things working together to refresh my taste buds. My waitress was again ill used the word phenomenal. She made every thing perfect with her suggestions and her way of giving us space while being attentive. And her tip refected her amazing service. I'm sure she was happy with it. This is a must go to place. They have other locations as well. I will get to another but I know the food nor service may not be the same. But I'll definitely try the location near me and hope it's nearly as good.
