Tuscan Chicken Linguine

After coming here about a year ago, we decided to return to Ryfe on a Friday for dinner and drinks. The space is large with a beautiful bar. Quickly after being seated, we remembered why it's been so long since. Service was not great, even though we were maybe one of five tables sat at the time. Drinks came out quickly, but it took almost forty minutes for our one appetizer to come out. And when it did arrive, it was almost cold. We were pretty hungry and don't like to complain, so we ate it as is. The calamari tasted very good, but it certainly would've been better hot. Then, not even a minute after the calamari came, our entrees arrived. I had the tuscan chicken pasta (once again, flavors were amazing), and my boyfriend had the pesto chicken sandwich. After finishing our meals, we once again sat and waited quite a long time for the check and a box. Overall, I loved my pasta, but I don't think we'll be returning. The price is quite high for the service and quantity of food.

We almost decided against trying Ryfe and that would have been a huge mistake! I've been wanting to make it out to Ryfe now since they've opened, but I usually don't go out that way. My parents and I were deciding between a few different places that we've never been before to try for Happy Hour and Ryfe was on our short list. After reading some of the reviews we were hesitant and even almost left after arriving and the bar being full. We were told by the hostess that we could sit at the Tiki Bar and would be assigned a server (it was pretty crowded and they only had one bartender working) so that's what we did. We were greeted by our server, Sara, who was a rockstar. The entire dining experience was elevated by her professionalism, her attitude, the way she interacted with her customers - she is truly incredible at her job. On top of that, she wore a smile the entire time between waiting on us at the Tiki Bar and her hightop tables - something I'd never be able to do in the service industry. We were blessed to have her and so is Ryfe. I do want to give some praise to the bartender as well. She was making drinks for the entire restaurant as the only bartender on shift and the wait for drinks was never long. Happy Hour here is an incredible deal. 3-6 DAILY (yes even the weekend) with select $5 cocktails and select 1/2 price appetizers. Our entire bill was $66 for 7 cocktails and 4 appetizers. All of our drinks - Taklatini, Grampie's Crash & Burn, Quaker Juice, Johnson Margarita, and Mexican Mule - were all very good especially considering they were each only $5. Our favorites were the Crash & Burn and Quaker Juice (we weren't sure which was which lol) which definitely fit the vibe of sitting at a Tiki Bar. Yes the Tiki Bar is an odd feature in the middle of a mall bar/restaurant but it offered the feel of extra bar seating so I'd prefer that over a table. We also thought the food we ordered, all half price, was a great deal. The Ahi Wonton Tacos were our favorites! A must order and less than $7 on happy hour for 3 tuna tacos! We also enjoyed the Buffalo Wings. The Grilled Calamari was a nice change up from my typical fried calamari orders and the grilled poblanos added nice flavor and a tiny bit of heat. All things I'd order again and again! Next time we'll pass on the Mozzarella Basil Tower - wasn't bad but there are other things on the menu that sound a bit more exciting that I'd like to try. Our entire drive home we could not stop talking about our entire experience. From the food, the cocktails, the prices, and the service we received from Sara (my family is always bar first and will only sit at a table if no bar seats are available - we'd gladly forego bar seats to have Sara as our server again), our first time at Ryfe was a hit and we cannot wait to come back.

Stopped in for happy hour with new friends. Large selection of appetizers were half off and there was a limited number of speciality drinks for $5. The place itself was nice with a decent size bar and high top tables including a tiki bar. Outdoor seating as well as a dining in area. For the size of the place I was surprised that the ladies room only had two stalls. The drinks were tasty. We ordered the tuna taco's which were fresh had a nice sauce but needed more of it. The wings came in 3 flavors we got the Asian - tangy and sweet. The cauliflower and bacon were a perfect combination. I didn't try the sliders but was told they were good. The service was slow. We had to wave down the bartender to get refills, order more food and to get the check. It wasn't very crowded for a week night but did seem under staffed.

Another sports bar, TV's everywhere. Food and service are very good. We went in mid-afternoon on a weekend and both times it was dead. They have 2 other restaurants very close to them in the same dead mall. While I personally like Ryfe's food better the ambience if you want a restaurant is better at the others. If you want good food at a sports bar, this place is better. Happy hour options are a good deal.

Let me start by saying I do not like giving bad reviews but this restaurant was just not good. Best way to try a restaurant is a happy hour. This way you can try the food but not break the bank. My friend and I came in at 330pm and asked about the tables in the bar. Hostess says " do we have a reservation?" At 330pm on a Friday? No reservation but she seats us. (Side note: a restaurant host should be pleasant as they are the first impression of the restaurant. This young lady was very off putting with her demeanor). Looked over the menu and ordered an assortment of apps. We went with the wonton tacos, Chelsea fries, arancini balls, shrimp skewers and flatbread pizza. The fries and tacos were good. The arancini were very very gummy. No crispy outside and all the flavor was from the sauce. Shrimp skewers had no flavor other than the preservative they put on frozen shrimp to keep them fresh. This means they were not rinsed properly. (Hubs worked in wholesale seafood). Last but not least the the cauliflower flatbread pizza. No clue how this tasted as it got sent back. I looked at and it just didn't look or smell appetizing. On the menu it says it has corn salsa on it. Mine didn't and when I said something to my server she said, "oh yeah they took that off the pizza.", but the menu wasn't updated. The pizza also just smelled like raw tomato sauce. No spices nothing. As far as ambience, I don't know what this restaurant was going for. They want to be upscale but have a tiki bar and a wall that looks like a prom back drop. My server was friendly but this whole experience was odd and off putting. Even our menus where dirty. That should have been the sign to leave.

Came here on a Friday for happy hour. When we walked in, we were the only ones in there. By the time we left I'm happy the bar filled up. Food was good and came quick. Prices are a bit high (~$6 for a coors light) off happy hour so would recommend going between 3-6.

Prior to going I looked up their beer list on Untappd and was overwhelmed by the beer selection. Unfortunately (but fortunately because it made my beer selection decisions much easier) many of the craft beers listed were sold in cans. The beers on the numbered list on Untappd are the beers available on tap (all other beers listed are in cans or bottles). They still had a nice variety of craft beers on tap and I really enjoyed the few I tried. They seemed a bit pricey though and even the lower ABV beers were served in smaller glasses. We got two seats at the bar around 6:30 on a Friday night. All night people were coming and going and there was nobody really standing around waiting for bar seats for too long. The bartender was nice and he was the only one working when we first arrived but after a bit there were multiple people behind the bar. It definitely felt divey inside. My dad said the bar top was the same bar top from years and years ago when he used to come here when he was my age. We split wings with medium Buffalo sauce and cheesesteak fries. I frequently see Jay's wings mentioned on SJFS and for good reason. They were top notch and I'd come back just for the wings. They might even be at the very top of my wing list (although I'd try a different sauce next time). Incredibly crispy and weren't chewy whatsoever. The cheesesteak fries (cheesesteak served over a bed of waffle fries were also surprisingly good. While at Top Golf earlier in the week our bay host recommended them and advised all the food at Jay's is very good. I wasn't expecting to spend $100+ at a dive bar between two of us but the experience was very good. If I lived a little closer I would definitely be there all the time. Even though the beer list is good I'd probably stick with drinking a domestic draft or bottle the next time I go to avoid spending as much as we did on smaller glasses of craft beer. I will definitely be back and will be looking forward to trying more menu items in the future.

We didn't realize that the restaurant was a part of a country club until we arrived (no where in the reviews did it mention this) but we've done brunch at other country clubs throughout Jersey and it was wonderful. Upon entering the restaurant we saw their only brunch option was for a brunch buffet and from our quick scans of the buffet walking to the hostess stand we all decided we would not be doing brunch (pastries looked like they were from Coscto, warm food looked as though it had been sitting there for a while and the omelettes coming from the omelette station didn't look spectacular so we opted to do their lunch menu instead. Service was SSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! From the very beginning until the very end. It took about 15 minutes before our server arrived to greet us, then another 15 for our first round of cocktails to come out, the about a half an hour for us to be told that they were out of 1 of the 3 appetizers we ordered ... so no lie, after being there a full hour we finally received 2 of the 3 appetizers and were then just able to order a second round of cocktails and our main courses. The cocktails weren't the greatest either. We thought perhaps the first round was our fault because we all tried their "blackberry espresso martini" and we knew it was a risk from the beginning ... so we ordered "safer" cocktails for round 2 and the prosecco based cocktails were even worse than the blackberry espresso martinis smh. I truly don't understand how one messes up prosecco + a splash of limoncello and cranberry (that was what was supposed to be in the cocktail) but they certainly messed it up, to the point where I didn't drink it. Our entrees finally arrived and WOMP WOMP WOMP! Overall every single one was MID at best ... and all I had was French onion soup and a wedge salad .... like how is it possible for those to be BLAH? Food was so MEH we didn't even take pics lol. Needless to say we all agreed we wouldn't be back and wished we had decided on what was our 2nd option for brunch instead.

Unfortunately, those exact veggies arrived on the plate, and my entree looked more like stir fry. I don't like onions or peppers ... and they were the base veggie of the dish. The menu describes the "sauce" as a lemon citronette, and this dish was not at all what I was expecting. It lacked flavor, there was no sauce, not a hint of lemon (I even squeezed some on there & it didnt help :( ) I can get past some vegetables I don't eat, just pushed them to the side, but the halibut was so so so incredibly dry. It wasn't soft, or flakey, or moist. (I hate that word but it was the best way to describe what it lacked) It was like cardboard. I was trying to choke it down because I too, had just worked a serving shift for Mothers Day, & it was the first thing I was eating all day. Group event, went as part of a holiday party and the food, service and wine were all on point. This was a long happy hour not sit down so I cannot attest to a large group sit down dinner. Lastly dining in the main dining room, 6 people, Saturday night. Service was thin, read, our server was busy with a large group in the back and the neglect was evident. Now this doesn't mean the rest of the restaurant crew couldn't step in but really didn't. We were graced with a water refill once over the course of the dinner, although the friendly server who did pour the water said she walks around to fill water, she was never seen again. Our entrees were brought by a group of servers who disappeared after placement of the plates. So it would appear people were working they just seemed to ignore our table. Food was great, I wouldn't have gone if I didn't think the food was on par, but spending this kind of money you want a balance of service and food. You can see the accumulation of glasses that went on removed between wines. Now happy hour is discounted and you are at the bar so you get front and center service. Standing in the group room you are able to flag a server, sitting in the middle of the dining area and being largely ignored just rubs you the wrong way. I had two people ask why are you going to Flemings when I told them our plans. A competing steak house at the Cherry Hill Mall, we have attended many, many times without fail. You don't know how good you have it until you go someplace else and realize service is a lost art at some places. I am posting more for public service announcement, i would hope management reviews and tries to address this rather large service gap. I have never had this issue at the capital Grill, so it is disappointing to encounter it here, particularly when the food was on point.

Next is the edgy bathroom. This hotel is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Why you say? Look at the bedroom pic. That's a frosted window INTO THE SHOWER. See the shower pic to see the frosted window. How edgy that must be for a couple. Sure you can't see anything but you can see shadows. So do you want your kids trying to see if they can see mom in the shower? No of course you don't. Also, the shower section is barely lit so hopefully you can shower with your eyes closed in the dark. Finally, the materials are cheap and not well maintained. Everything is laminate fake wood and it's all peeling. And that's not just this one. It's been all 3. Plus plenty of other fit and finish stuff like the giant scuff on the wallpaper from the desk chair. Or the almost broken door lock. Oh and outlet placement is pretty terrible too at the desk. Now the good news is this hotel is next to a Millers. The wxyz bar is pretty good. And inside is a "high end" steak restaurant (not run by Marriott) which has a fantastic bar and terrible overpriced food (ok so that's not good news). I didn't interact with any staff so I don't know if they were amazing or not. Honestly, there are 20+ hotels in a 2 mile radius. Stay somewhere else. If you're Marriott, the Courtyard across the street is pretty good especially for the price. And if a manager reads this, don't reply back. Your best course of action is to find a better hotel to manage.
