    We'll be back Monday!!!

Four of us came to the Maple Tree Cafe for dinner on a Friday evening, when a Talcott Mountain concert attracted almost everyone else in town. We were seated promptly, greeted, given regular, beverage and daily special menus. Maple tree used to be a dive bar that I frequented many many years ago...but has since greatly upgraded their atmosphere, bar, and food offerings. I ordered a cup of NE clam chowder, and their Fish n Chips - I've been having a fish jones for a while since our go-to place in Hartford closed last year. The chowder was decent, perhaps a bit on the thyme-y side, but still enjoyable. We also ordered a meatball appetizer, served with a ribbon of marinara sauce. Yum! My Fish n Chips hit the spot, with four nice-sized chunks of well-cooked fish on a bed of curly fries...all steaming hot. Served with Cole slaw and tartar sauce, it was quite satisfying. Our server and plate runners were both very nice, and responsive to our requests. All in all, a delightful evening. We shall return!

Patio lunch: great margs, not shabby sweet potato fries, and a nice Ruben! (Buttery and a little messy as it should be) and holds a crunch. Love this spot for live music and the bar, but 3 stars my for my partner getting sick from the cob salad with chicken afterwards. Everything else was good!

Had an AMAZING time at the Maple Tree Cafe tonight. Sat at the bar and was served by Ken who provided great conversation. Ordered fried mozzarella as an appetizer and had a chipotle chicken bacon panini, both were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese which was also very good, and we shared a cheese pizza which is one of the best in the area. We left with plenty of leftovers. Drink menu had great depth, we will definitely be back!

Such a cozy atmosphere! I had the fried asparagus appetizer - SO good!!! The butternut ravioli was the best I have had. It felt like fall in a bowl! I tried the house G&T from the cocktail list and as a G&T fan, I absolutely loved it! Service was very prompt. I didn't feel like I waited long for anything. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Everything from the dining hall to the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Went with some girlfriends and will definitely be going back with my husband!!! I am excited to try their brunch!

Had a nice lunch there today. The restaurant was pretty empty but the bar was very crowded with regulars on their barstools, ringing the bar like a picture frame. Its a pretty ambitious menu with nearly 20 appetizers ranging from inexpensive (garlic bread for $2) to wings (15 pcs for $13) and from the ordinary (fried mozzarella) to the unexpected (crab cakes). We had a Cobb Salad ($11) and a Chicken Quesadilla ($10). The salad was good, but in an average-good way. The Quesadilla was advertised as being served with sour cream, guacamole and salsa, but when it came out of the kitchen, the guac was missing. We asked the server about it, and she said that not everyone likes guac, so she doesn't bring it out unless it is specifically asked for.. Thats a minus one point. The salsa was fantastic, and when I mentioned to her that I liked it, she chimed in that it was home-made -- so they get that deducted point back. We asked for the leftover quesadillas to be boxed up, and when she brought them back from the kitchen, she said she added some extra guac for us. That's a bonus point. I checked out the dinner menu and saw a lot of chickens and veals and pastas and chops and seafood in the $13 - $20 range. Not cheap, but not out of this world high either. I might have to stop back on the way home from work on Thursday- in honor of the start of the baseball season, they have an Opening Day special-- $2 beers and you keep your Yankee or Red Sox glass. Now that's what I call Customer Service !!

Take advantage of this perfect summertime porch!

Excellent smoked salmon eggs Benedict with great tasty home fries! Great, enjoyable patio experience on a nice summer day for brunch! Definitely recommend!

Another awesome burger with sweet potato fries!

While I was on the call with The Iron Horse staffer who checked if they could accommodate us, five more people said they wanted in. So, my party expanded to 20. The staffer said "No problem. See you at 8pm." Ninety minutes later, I called to update our numbers again, and we were up to 28. Ugh. The staff said, again, "No problem. See you at 8pm." A few more people heard of the gathering, so our total group was 32 people. With just a few hours notice. On a Saturday night. On Valentine's Day. That was the first bit of magic, and the waitstaff continued with friendly, fast, and accurate service of all the kids and parents. The final act was the food, which was outstanding. The portions were huge and delicious. (I had the wings, and "hot" was definitely hotter than most other places. So, order accordingly!) So, on behalf of our team, we wanted to extend an incredible "Thank you" to everyone at The Iron Horse and (in hockey terms) stick taps for an incredibly well done evening!

The bartender there was so helpful with my food order as I asked what he recommended and he gave me numerous choices to go with. He suggested the wings and pizza which I took his advice. I ordered the 4 boneless wings for $5.00 along with the medium size pizza for $17. I went with the boom boom sauce on the boneless wings and i really loved the flavor and fresheners of the wings. The iron horse also makes their own blue cheese dressing. I also went with the thin all American style pizza crust 1/2 bbq chicken and 1/2 buffalo chicken as I couldn't decide and wanted to try both. I feel the Buffalo chicken would be more flavorful with their homemade blue cheese dressing drizzled on it too. I also ordered their $1 slice pepperoni pizza to go for my kids. I really enjoyed everything i ordered. I especially love their boneless wings they make and if you haven't tried yet the boom boom sauce you must. It's a combination of chipotle sauce and ranch dressing. Definitely will be back to try more food during happy hour. The place has a good size bar area and offers great specials for drinks. They just opened the patio that they have as well. There are other locations available to visit. Unionville , Bristol.

Today's visit started with a lengthy wait for drinks, which gave us plenty of time to admire the restaurant's impressive indoor climate control system set to "walk-in freezer." As we slowly lost feeling in our extremities, we waited for our food. And waited. And waited. The table next to us eventually gave up and asked for their food to go because it was taking so long. We thought, "Well, at least they'll get food." Plot twist: our food never came. I had the scallops with risotto which were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Hats off to anyone who can cook a risotto well and they do it perfectly. I started with clam chowder that while could've been a little hotter, was thick and delicious. Other people in the party had eggplant Parmesan, which reportedly was terrific, chicken Parmesan that was cooked beautifully with lots of grilled chicken a lovely marinara that was topped with lots of cheese and spiced. The ancient grain risotto was again fantastic, and anyone who can cook a risotto well deserves kudos. The dessert I had the strawberry shortcake that wasn't too sweet and had a beautiful flavor of fresh strawberries throughout with lots of whipped cream. The Keylime pie was tart and delicious. The Brooklyn layered chocolate cake was tremendous layers of cake and frosting. It was just a perfect rendition of a chocolate cake. Last but not least was the coconut cake which rivals my favorite coconut cake in the world from Max A Mia. The Abigail's version was a bit lighter, but equally as delicious with coconut frosting that really hit the spot and is worth the trip back. The bill came to $317 and with a $60 tip for outstanding service and a wonderful Mother's Day meal

Pretty area but I was honestly thinking it was going to be more quaint and romantic. It was not. The area is somewhat narrow which makes tables spaced close together and it's really not that private. But the space is nicely decorated and if you sit on the right side (which we did), you're right in front of the waterfall. I would try the dining room next time just to compare. Our server Anthony was professional, kind of and accommodating. We started with cocktails - I had a creative gin drink called Dot Dot Dot. My husband loved his Old Fashioned - he meant to ask what type of bourbon they used because he thought it was very good. With the tasting menu - many of the options apparently change regularly though based off other reviews it appears there may be similar options from time to time. We started with their Johnny Cakes which the waiter said the restaurant is known for. Another reviewer ranked them a 7.5/10 and I couldn't disagree more. They were one of the tastiest bites I've eaten in a while. Crispy, buttery and divine. I thought they were to die for. Served with creamy honey sesame butter which was also delicious. My husband doesn't eat fish so for his amuse bouche he had a little puff served with cheese, that was amazing. For his first course - he had the Ricotta Raviolis. They were as beautiful as they were delicious. My amuse bouche was a tuna tartare that was a perfectly balanced bite. I had the Tapioca custard as my first course. The bacon was a bit too smokey for my taste and overpowered the dish in my opinion. It could have used a bit more liquid but it was a unique few bites. For our mains, my husband's porcini risotto was rich, creamy, and full of earthy flavor. I had the bass with cauliflowerini, golden raisin-caper gremolata, Marcona almonds, and a cauliflower purée--thoughtfully composed and very flavorful. The final savory course was a crispy duck breast with port-poached pear, port reduction, and sweet potato purée, which was beautifully executed. Dessert was a pomegranate pavlova--crisp on the outside with that perfect soft, marshmallowy center. A delightful finish to the meal. Overall, the dishes were not only delicious but also thoughtfully composed and visually striking.
