I come from California on a business trip and had some so so food in CT so far. But decided to end the trip with this restaurant and I was pleasantly suprised with the Station 1633 Pizza, it was fantastic! And the service was great! Definitely will come back if in ever in town. read more

When I heard that the owners of Tunxis Grill and Pizzeria had bought the old Union Street Tavern, I was excited. I have really enjoyed the TGaP over the years, and consistently rated them 5-star worthy. So when Station 1633 (catchy name, near the train station and Windsor's settlement date) opened, I knew I had to try it. So, on a recent visit w a friend, I did. Very busy for a weeknight. We were seated and given menus. Then...nothing for over 10 minutes. Our server apologized profusely, and took our drink and food orders. Our server also said that another server would assist, and we would be tag-teamed. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My Station Burger was, w/o a doubt, the worst burger I've ever had at a tavern-type eatery (and I've had burgers all over the country). It's a patty on a flimsy bun that fell apart after a few bites (see pic). For the first time in memory, I had to use a knife and fork to eat a cheeseburger. No charbroiled taste, and who puts mustard on a burger? I guess I was expecting it on the side. My fault for not reading more closely. The fries? Seemed to be from a bag of frozen fries. All this for $18! Seriously, in my opinion, the burgers at BK are better. There are numerous places in the Hartford - Springfield area that serve hand-formed burgers on substantial buns w hand-cut fries, FOR LESS. Even the TGaP uses brioche buns. As far as being tag-teamed...didn't happen. We were obviously done, and waited about 15 minutes until we flagged down our server, who again apologized profusely for the wait time. Several other things. The menus are not similar. Some of the popular items at TGaP (pizza, eggplant fries, Reuben rolls, Philly rolls, to name a few) are not on Station 1633's menu. Why not?!? Even though the two eateries are less than 5 miles apart, they seem to draw from different areas, for the most part. Just as I'm sure I'm a "one and done" at Sta 1633, I'm also pretty sure that the owners will make a boatload of $$, especially on drinks. I'll stick to TGaP, or other pubs in the area. I very seldom rate something a "1", or "2". I'm making an exception in this case. Poor service, disappointing quality, inflated price. Mmmm.... Not a huge fan. Food is ok and drinks are fine. Glad this place stayed open after union street tavern closed because Windsor needs all the help it can get. We order 2 meals 1 was really good and one was not. The chicken parm was very good but the burger was terrible, tasted like a glorified wendys burger. They need to get better patties these things are horrible and little. Get a 3rd pound piece of meat and better bread options this buns were store cheap buns. How can you not get a burger right? Met friends for dinner here tonight. We started with wings, they were great! Highlight of the night! Fish tacos were good, not as much of a portion as the waitress suggested. Butter chicken was great, and our friend's regular go to dish. Caesar salad was typical. The big disappointment was my meal. I ordered off the specials menu, the clam strip platter, and it was more like fries with a sprinkle of clam strips on them. The coleslaw was also a tiny portion. (See photo). I am not sure if I got the last remaining bits but this plate was not worth the $24 or so. The building is an old fire station which goes with the motif. I think most people think "Station" refers to the train station right behind the restaurant, but the building is a former fire station! read more

Visiting the area and flew into BDL for night. Was only about 10 minutes drive. Great atmosphere and unique setting. Neighbor around is fresh and fun. I ended up ordering the butternut squash pastas dish with shrimp. Excellent blend ofi ingredients that are not overpowering but definitely tasty. The crowd is a wide range of age. The menu had a nice variety which should make most people happy. I saw numerous people enjoying drinks but they just enjoy my classic. Would definitely recommend you coming here ohh btw- a different spin on blueberry cobbler- definitely try it. read more

This is a decent restaurant and bar in Windsor CT. Clean and modern feel. Friendly service. A bit slow, and the bread on my chicken sandwich kept falling apart - just decided to go without. Would I go again? Maybe. But I might be tempted to see what else is in the area. read more

Very good experience! Amanda and John at the bar are fun, efficient and flexible. Watched Amanda make a two herb muddled drink at customers request. Most places wouldn'thave the herbs or would say they dont. Menu is pub oriented with some twists. Pasta verde a riff on mac n cheese with a pablano cheese sauce topped with brisket, very inventive and delicious . The cuban featured a spicy ham which kicked it up a notch ( it was huge!) The clam strip platter was generous and perfectly crispy. Decent beers on tap and they offer flights. The cocktail menu is brief but creative. This is not your run of the mill gastro pub. The place is nice, great bar, service is very good. Tried the wings when they first opened, not great and not crispy. Tried them again a few months later and we're much better. Recently got the fish tacos. Very dry, and the tortillas had a bad smell to them, like dirty dishwater. My son liked his smash burger and the fries are very good. Menu is somewhat limited, but decided to have a salad. Added grilled shrimp, and our waitress asked if I wanted grilled or blackened. I told her that I can't tolerate spicy, so ordered the grilled. When it arrived, I started eating it and then it became painful. I called the waitress over who took it back to the kitchen. She returned to tell me that blackened was the only option and she didn't know that they no longer had just grilled. I explained that I have esophageal cancer and could not eat it. She did take the cost off the bill, but I had severe distress for several hours. Not a nice introduction to this newly reopened restaurant. Unbelievable comfort food experience. We had wings (A+), alla vodka (recommended by bartender and she was right), and Cobb salad (wife approved). The place itself is such an interesting and historic building that it provides a really fantastic dinning experience. Food was excellent and the atmosphere is quite nice. Not something you would expect from a small town restaurant, but it's very welcomed.

Sat in the bar area for a happy hour dinner, great atmosphere , friendly attentive and quick service. We ordered wings and shrimp for apps, buffalo wings were cooked to perfection-crisp on outside, tender meat on inside. Firecracker shrimp was phenomenal, great flavor some of the best we've had. Smash burgers and fish chips (and kids grilled cheese) for meals, all hit the mark. It was our first time trying station 1633 and we will most definitely be back!! read more

The bartenders are super friendly! Had the buffalo wings. Took a little too long to come out and they were by far the worst wings I've had in a very long time. Super thick, fatty and not crispy at all. I love the location and vibe but damn those wings were pretty gross. I might try it one more time, so we'll see... read more

We like the other restaurant that is associated with Station 1633, Tunxis Grill, which has been one of our favorite establishment in town. Been at this newer resturant once for dinner with friends and more recently a family member for lunch with a group of people. The dinner was good - we had an app (Spinach Dip @ $16) and then the scallops ($33), Firehouse short ribs ($32), and two Smash Burger ($19 each). The smash burger, with a thin patty, was not as good as others that we have had elsewhere (i.e. Dudleytown, Back East). See photograph of the smash burger leftover. Our waitress for dinner was Victoria and my suggestion would be to be more friendly and attentive. The most recent waitress was very nice. My other comment was that the meals were a little pricy for the portions that were served. The lunch experience had mix reviews, as half the group liked their meals and the other did not. Two salads dishes were specifically mentioned - one was plain and the comment was "I could have just cut up some lettuce myself" and the other salad was presented better (Cobb Salad), with lots of gorgonzola and bacon. The issue was that the Cobb did not seem to agree with the family member a while after being eaten, and again at home by someone else when the leftover were eaten for dinner. Maybe just a coincidence, but makes you wonder. The previous Tavern was a great place and thinking that it may just take some tweaking to make this another great establishment, thus my main reason for this review. We will be trying it again and hope for a better experience. btw, our bill indicated we received points for Tunxis Grill & Pizzeria, which was nice! read more

No surprise with the ambiance, not much of a change from the previous owners of Union St. Tavern. The service was fine, however they did mess up my beer order. I ordered a Guinness 00 and received a regular Guinness. Good thing I'm not an alcoholic or this could have really gone bad for me. I guess my biggest disappointment was with menu, it was ugly - from aesthetic to content, Very boring. Hey, PLEASE bring the French dip sandwich to the menu, it's a classic. How about a nice stew? I ordered the station burger, came undercooked and to my disappointment had mayo on it. My bad, need to read the details. My wife and I had high hopes as we live in the center and thought this would be great, particularly because the food at tunxis grill ( same owner?) Is great. I guess instead of walking to the restaurant will still need to drive somewhere. I'm no expert but I have lived in the center for 50+ years, if this place doesn't provide something unique, I'll give them a year at best. We already have a neighborhood bar, the Tabasco shed, they serve lousy food to, but the drinks are less expensive. read more
