First time here and I'll say the staff are great! Atmosphere decent. The food was mediocre at best. The taste of olive oil overpowered the spaghetti sauce and the chicken parm was soggy. We also had a tortellini dish with sausage which was not bad but nothing great. Soda flat, ice tea was horrible and bread tasted stale. It was very warm in there too which was a drawback to me. This place is an absolute gem! Cozy interior with friendly service. Every dish I've had is tasty and often plenty for lunch the next day. But the best part is their soups. The cream of mushroom made me rethink everything I knew about that soup and the tomato is so good. What an absolute hidden gem of a place! My friend had heard amazing things about Marco's so we met up here tonight to try their food and it was ah-mazing. I started off with their raspberry marg and then tried their raspberry sangria and I honestly can't tell you which I love more. The bruschetta was top notch, and made perfectly. I didn't realize their caprese is an actual salad with caprese on top, and I loved it. The calamari was delish with some lemon juice on top, and I def would love to try more. We went on a Friday night in December. There was a large group of about 20 and a few other patrons. They were a bit under staffed but they handled service fairly well. Probably not as quick as it might be normally but staff was pleasant and attentive. It's BYOB still . If you want wine with dinner there is package store a couple of doors down but there wine selection is pretty limited particularly on chilled whites . Marco's is a nice place . There is nothing outstanding about the decor either way. Easy to hold a conversation. I have a couple of issues with the food and it presentation . It's largely Italian American . I had the salmon Rosa and my wife had the chicken piccata. The taste was fine and the components properly cooked. However both were served as " bowls". With the notable exceptions of Korean bibimbap , Japanese Udon/noodle bowls I am not a fan of all my food mixed in a bowl. Part of eating for me is tasting with the three senses, my sight, my smell and my taste . With the exception of the above listed bowls which are quite often beautiful most bowls flunk the sight test. I expected my salmon to be a sauce and served over pasta which it was either in a bowl or on a plate. The salmon however were large pieces of nicely grilled salmon out on top of the pasta in a bowl . It that was the choice then I would rather have the salmon served next to the pasta. I expected smaller pieces of salmon incorporated into and as part of the sauce . Chicken piccata was more problematic for us. Normally this dish is a nicely sautéed lightly bread chicken cutlet in a light lemon butter sauce with capers. When done right, this is a bright and light dish often served with a side of lightly dressed pasta (perhaps just some olive oil, pepper and a sprinkle of good parm). This was mixed bowl of chicken, pasta and sauce which lost all sense of the best qualities of this dish. It cam off has heavy . None of the ingredients were cooked badly, in fact quite well. If you are a fan of the current bowl mania Marco's might be your cup of tea. read more

From the second we walked in the door until we left, it was such a pleasurable experience. The employees are awesome, the food is incredible, and there's a great low-key atmosphere. We started off with a Strawberry Sangria and a Peaches N Cream wine cocktail. Then on to some Creamy French Onion Soup (which was absolutely insane, it was so good). Then we ordered the NY Strip, the Ravioli ala Vodka, and a Sicilian Pizza for our entrees. Then to top it all off, a cannoli and some specialty coffees for dessert! This restaurant is located in a neighborhood. If it was located in a better location with more traffic it would be a gold mine. The food was prepared well and was definitely authentic Italian. It was outstanding! The service was good. It wasn't busy at all which was so surprising for a Saturday evening. The ambiance, well the restaurant needs some love when it comes to decor. And the music cannot be Jazz. It really should be better dinner music. Overall we are looking forward to returning and supporting them. You should give this one a try! read more

Last night, as we were leaving Marco's after our dinner, we agreed that our first visit there had been a very favorable experience. The white linens on the tables may give the dining room a formal look, but Marco's is a very non-pretentious kind of place. The hostess that seated us was very welcoming, and our server was friendly and charming. We started off with a basket of warm and fresh complimentary bread that was served with three offerings to complement the complimentary bread. Option one was whole roasted cloves of garlic in oil, option two was bright green homemade pesto, and option three was butter packets. What a terrific way to start things off! Our dinner entrees each came with a house salad, and it was a pretty good salad. It was cold. It was fresh. It was a generous portion. And it was excellent, with plenty of greens, and sliced carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. Our entrees were Cioppino ($18.95 for sautéed shrimp, clams, scallops, mussels, and calamari served in a tomato broth over linguini) and Eggplant Parmigiana ($14.95 with marinara and mozzarella over penne pasta). I really enjoyed the Cioppino- lots of great flavors, two good size shrimp and quite a bit of everything else. The portion size didn't overwhelm me, and truthfully for almost $20, I would have liked to have seen a bit more in the serving bowl. The eggplant parm was three thinly sliced eggplant rounds, breaded and perfectly cooked with pasta. This was a delicious dish and was a good value, considering the price and portion size. Our two entrees with included salads and the bread dish ran $36 -not too bad at all for a relaxing, enjoyable, and delicious dinner. read more

First of all the food was unexpectedly excellent. Unexpectedly because of the low price. Kids menu was versatile and we got the cheeseburger, huge and good with good toppings and perfect tomato slices. I got the French onion soup, again excellent, as was the shrimp scampi over angel hair. Big shrimp cooked perfectly with loads of garlic and capers. My wife got the carbonara which she enjoyed and took home half, glass of wine and carrot cake all around. Service was top notch even though she was new. Check came to $71.00. Impressive for soup to wine and dessert. Quality was as good as twice the price. We will be back to try the Delmonico. Have the most amazing dinner the other night at Marco's! We had heard about Marcos from some friends and decided to take the trip up to see what all the hype was about. We started off our dinner with two sangria's (strawberry and peach), as well as the bruschetta appetizer, the meatballs, and salads. For our entrees, we ordered a Sicilian pizza half pepperoni and half chicken Alfredo and it was so delicious! We also tried the chicken parmigiana and ravioli alla vodka. Marco's has quickly become one of our family's staple go to spots. The customer service here is second to none. During our first visit of getting take out, Frank the owner, was extremely kind and asked us to call him back to let him know how the food was. During our visits we've always had the best customer service experience and the food has been beyond amazing. We're limited to what we can eat, halal meat only, and when Frank found out he went out of his way to get us some halal chicken to make us some dishes so we could fully enjoy the meals. We tried this place for the first time - four adults and a five year for lunch. The good points - the waiter was welcoming and very nice. He advised us that he was new and seemed a little flustered but aren't we all. The dining was very nice and clean but everything was black - not my style but still. There was also plastic fruit as a display - ditch it as soon as possible! Also, ditch the rap music - the patrons we saw were all over 60 - something more pleasing and atmospheric would be nice. The food was kinda expensive - one of our party asked if they could pasta with vodka sauce which they said was delicious. Another had shrimp and mussels Genovese which was also very good. The child had fettuccini alfredo, which was delicious but the portion was WAY too much for a child. One of us had chicken parm grinder was delicious. I asked if they had baked ziti, which they don't - they don't have any baked pasta - the waiter said "what a good idea" I had chicken marsala was good with garlic mashed potatoes which delicious but the portion was small. Also the broccoli was covered with some kind of sauteed peppers - yuk...less is more. Two people had onion soup which we both said tasted funny, not like traditional onion soup - it was a thin yellowy color. A man came out and asked me what I didn't like about the soup. I told him is was not rich or beefy - he said he would take it off the bill and make me another one better - he never came back. Two of us had strawberry sangria which was very good. The cost of this meal was with tip $175 - kinda pricey for an ok meal (imho). They have a great base - just need to work on the details! Good luck guys! read more

Had a great time visiting Marcos's Restaurant in Tarifville CT. I had been hearing a lot about this spot from fellow foodies, so I decided to check it out myself. We tried a few different apps (mozz balls, French onion soup, bruschetta), and entrees (ravioli, lamb and Alfredo). and all were absolutely delicious. My husband and I read the reviews and since it was close by decided to go for date night. We were greeted and seated promptly. It took a while for our waiter to acknowledge us but once he did. He apologized and told us we have his undivided attention. We tried the mozzarella balls they were fresh and we wish they had more garlic in the batter. Our nicknames are Garlica and Garlico because we love garlic. The strawberry sangria was good. My mom makes the best sangria in the world so this one was just good. The bread was just okay. I love bread and when I heard made in house I assumed it was really good. It tasted re-warmed. The lobster ravioli was delicious. The fettuccine Alfredo had a good flavor but the noodles were a little undercooked. I would add some fresh garlic to it and garlic powder and it will elevate the flavor. The kitchen sent out shrimp scampi at first so I had to wait for the fettuccine to come out. I ended up with a complimentary dessert due to the mix up. I didn't like the cheesecake, it tasted like it had lemon flavor and I despise desserts with lemon. My husband asked for the carrot cake it was good. It was moist and they added honey to it. We are going back today to try the pizza. I'll try the eggplant parmigiana next week. I kept debating between that and the fettuccine alfredo dish with shrimp. Maybe we just caught the restaurant on an off day? We visited this place after a search here in Yelp since we're not from the area and wanted some Italian food. Judging from the most recent reviews, I was expecting more than what we got. First off, there were only 8 tables seated in the place and it took quite some time for the waiter to come over and take a drink order. We ordered the French onion soup and meatballs from apps menu. Also ordered buttered noodles for our 7 yr old and then fettuccine Alfredo w chicken to-go. The wait for these items was long. And once we got the food... our son was happy with his noodles and we were somewhat pleased with the (small portion) French onion soup but the meatballs... they weren't even warm. I can't say they were cold.. but they were not hot! I ate a bite from one meatball and waited (for quite some time once again) for the waiter to come back so that I could ask him to take these meatballs off our bill.
