Some friends recommended Villa of Lebonan, so we decided to try it for lunch. The decor upon entering feels like you are far away from Vernon & it smells great too. The owner is so nice & took our order. My husband & I both opted for the chicken shawarma sandwich (his spicy & mine regular). A pita with chicken, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato & red onion. He said the spicy one wasn't too spicy. We also got 1 side added - his a chicken noodle soup (a bit too salty), and I had French fries - nothing special (& ketchup bottle pretty empty with no other bottles around to use). Good Lebanese, not great pizza, pricy. Came here before the buyout. Was okay pizza, nothing special. When they got bought out, had to give them another try. The staff were busy. Lots of to go orders, lots of business. The cashier was kind, but rushed. I got their tabbouleh salad and a small chicken Schwarma pizza. Food came out quickly, so no qualms with speed. What I do have qualms with is the pizza and the salad. The tabbouleh salad was good flavor wise, but very overdressed. Was soggy in vinegar, which was overpowering. The pizza was soggy as well, undercooked and floppy. The topping were too heavy and made everything undercooked. The chicken was spiced well though, and it was clear that it was decently prepared chicken. It just wasn't a good pizza. Stick with the Lebanese side of the menu, and you should be okay. First time trying Anthony's since the new ownership. This is a clear case of another restaurant buying an Italian restaurant with no idea how to make Italian food. I got the Anthony's special meatballs and sausage: No sausage. No cheese. Sauce is a bastardized variant of marinara. Side of spaghetti.. was linguine. Same terrible sauce. Salad with blue cheese dressing (came on the side) was pre-tossed with a vinaigrette. This isn't just a cultural difference, it's pure stupidity. This place has no clue how to prepare Italian food. Rest of my party got Lebanese food and they weren't very happy with their items either. Will never order here again. read more

I live nearby and have been getting food from Anthony's at least once a week sometimes more... but unfortunately that is over... very upset that they already changed the ham...it's now a Virginia ham maybe, which I do not like, not to mention the meat in the grinder was 1/2 as much in it as when Dave owned it...I also ordered a sausage grinder... sausage was written on the outside...but I get home and it's meatball, which again, I don't like... the dogs did, though....wasted my money that night...very disappointed with new owner changing things right away, giving you less in your grinder and not even giving me the correct grinder for one of them...I moved to Vernon 5 years ago and have been a faithful customer... no more... very upset that it's not the Anthony's I knew and loved anymore... read more

I see most people take sandwich from this place. The sandwiches look huge. I went on a Friday to take out lunch. I should have ordered it at home and started for pick up. I ordered in store and had to wait for about 20 minutes to get my lunch. Steak bomb pita sandwich from their lunch special was best. Pita bread was used as the bun for the sandwich. Sandwich was nice and flavorful. Lunch specials come with a soup or a salad. Ministrone soup was a good choice for soup. My other lunch pick was buffalo chicken sandwich, which I felt was ok. read more

The pizza my kids had was fine, but both my husband and I ordered different grinders and were both not happy. Our experience at Anthony's started with our waitress asking for our drink orders before either of us had even sat down yet. Under pressure, we quickly looked through the less than extensive wine list and made our choices. The house chardonnay is terrible by the way. The lady ordered the Anthony's Special Parmigiana and I ordered the Firenza Pasta. According to the menu there was an extra charge to have peppers and mushrooms added to the Special Parm. It's impossible to tell if this is really true or not since the menu prices didn't seem to actually match the bill. Anyway - We shared the two dishes. The Special Parm was decent. The pasta side with a teaspoon of boring marinara wasn't entirely necessary as it was a generous portion. To call the Firenza bland might be an understatement. If not for the sausage it would have been about as exciting as the glass of ice water that was never brought to the table. Would I give it another chance?
