Just not the same quality with the new owners. Grinders are not as full (super thin pieces of green peppers and very few of them). I typically would order a veggie and cheese 8" grinder but it's very meager for the price. One small piece of cheese (and it's a veggie and cheese grinder). Have to pay extra and order extra cheese. I was forced to try it again... just the pizza this time around. Had the standard cheese pizza. I honestly cant understand why people may like or choose to eat this pizza. I hate being negative but here is the truth. Terrible food,old dry bread,steak grinder was like mincemeat . My wife's roast beef grinder was very skimpy with toppings and my daughter's sandwich was equally bad. Dimitri's is a really beautiful place! My first time here and it did not disappoint! Parking is well lit, but there are 2 doors near/at the entrance?? I chose the right door upon entering-hey I had a 50/50 shot! When I met my friends, who were already there and had drinks, the waitress came right up and greeted me. When my glass of wine was delivered, it was in a very dingy glass. Thankfully, the new glass of wine was in a very clean glass-this is why not 5 stars-I wish I could give 4.5 stars. Our waitress left for the evening and our waiter, Blair, was super cool, attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered a small, cheese pizza that was hand stretched. Who knew there was anything other than hand stretched ‍. It was excellent!! I wish I didn't have to share it with 4 other people. The wine I ordered was so good, Blair let one of my friends try a small taste without charging us. I took a picture of the bottle in case I want to buy a bottle on my own. Place is great, I eat here all the time. We have several pizza places in town, but Dimitri's is my favorite by a stretch. Food is always shockingly good and the ambiance is chill and relaxed. Never too noisy inside, which I love. Gotta highly recommend the roasted butternut pizza and the buffacue wings. Servers are nice and friendly. read more

Tonight was my worst experience at Dimitri's. We got there at 7:15. We quickly ordered Fish and Chips and one small pizza. We waited and waited. Nothing at all. Around 8:20, over an hour after we ordered, I went back to see where our food was. They said it was "next up". I go back to my seat. Our waiter comes out and says it will be right out. I thank her and ask her to bring the check with the food. Five minutes later, she brings out a bill for $2.56 for the ice tea I was having. The had canceled the order. We left hungry. This happens frequently at this restaurant, and I've run out of patience with them. I won't be going back. read more

Sooo the food is good. The service completely sucks. What should take maybe and hour to an hour and a half takes two plus. It's so terrible we sat down ordered boneless Chicken Wings another table came in with six people ordered after us we're all waiting our wings come out waitress delivers them to wrong table because the man at that table didn't want to wait longer my husband points it out...waitress is confused "oh no I have to check" she says...yep it was our order:/ which she THEN delivers to our table after putting it down on the other table. This poor service and slow cook time is consistent with this restaurant...don't go there if you want to have any time left to do something else in your life...:( read more

This has been bookmarked for some time. I wish I would have gone sooner. Located on the Tolland side of Coventry. Nice clean building. Server kind. One of the best lamb gyros I've ever had. Fresh tomatoes really set off with tender slices of lamb and cucumber sauce. Fries of the frozen variety. Companion had the New York strip;flavor reported as good but tough. read more

Dimitri's pizza restaurant is not really my go to pizza place but everything else there is fantastic! They just remodeled the inside and some of the outside too. In the summer they have outdoor seating and they also have a bar area and takeout. The staff there is so sweet and know most customers by there name and sometimes even order. I recommend their burgers, soups (Adam's chili and the southwestern corn chowder are my personal favorites), the salads and appetizers. There menu is huge and definitely has something for everyone. It's a great place in town for a date night dinner and it's very popular for lunch time get togethers. read more

The waitress seemed to ignore us but I think she was embarrassed it was taking so long. The food is good but the atmosphere is pretentious. My server was very immature and socially awkward. I waited ten minutes for a drink while four employees seemed to pretend I wasn't there. I spoke to three separate employees before getting a menu. It all seemed pretty ridiculous but the waitress who thought I ran out on the check when I was actually washing my hands in the bathroom takes the cake. The staff needs a total overhaul. I had an experience tonight that just shocked me. I ordered a small thin crust pizza, which I have done numerous times and it always has been wonderful. Tonight it was overdone, not burnt but overdone. I asked it to be sent back and remade. The waitress took it back. She returned one minute later with the same pizza. She was told it wasn't overdone and he refused to make another one. I tried to eat it but couldn't. They threw it away. I finished my wine and left. What happened to "the customer is always right"? Very poor business practice. I tried to explain to the owner before I left why I sent it back but he would not listen to what I was saying, just kept saying that's the way he always makes it. Third visit and each better than the next. Great service but we always meet friends here before the dinner rush. Pizzas, chicken and veal parm, and desserts were all delicious plus we all took home leftovers. Chocolate and lemon cakes....superb. Not fancy but good Italian home cooking. I used to like Dimitris but they are now incredibly understaffed and inefficient. Twice when we've gone, once on a Tuesday evening and once on a Friday, they were very understaffed and food and drinks took an exorbitant amount of time to come out. Tonight it took nearly an hour to get a sampler platter that had very little to it (a 3 chicken tenders, 2 wings, 3 onion rings, and 2 pieces of fried mozzarella). Never mind the longer wait for a pizza and two burgers. The food is fine but not worth that kind of wait. Takeout has been equally as bad with being to told to come in 45 min for 2 pizzas and then still waiting 30 or more minutes when you arrive to pick it up. I understand it's difficult to hire staff right now but this is the worst I've seen it at any local restaurants. read more

I am a regular at Dimitri's, and the food is generally good. I almost never leave any review, positive or negative, bot tonight cries out for comment. It was EXTREMELY disappointing. We arrived about 7:15. My dining partner ordered fish and chips. I ordered a small Margherita pizza. We left at 8:30 - ONE HOUR AND 15 MINUTES LATER.- without having been served. Did not get any food because the service was awful.Went into the bar area where there were two bartenders and no customers,both were either on their phones or to busy to do their job. One of them finally said can I help you,I said yes that I was interested in watching the college world series on one of the 3 tv sets and then order some beer and a meal. She asked what station,I replied espn or espn 2,,,she went to the first and said no not on,I asked if she could bring up the listing guide,she lied to me and said no they don't have one. At this point I realized I was interrupting their otherwise quiet night. I thanked her and left.I will never interrupt anyone there again.Some places need to check on their employees and to re evaluate their hiring criterior,this place missed on both. Amazing eggplant parm sub & Cesar salad. Cute place with great service. Staff are on point and very helpful. Attended a private event there and they did a beautiful spread of food and at the end of the event packaged it up beautifully to send home with the family. My daughter is gluten-free and they brought her a gluten-free pizza and offered to make her anything on the menu gluten-free as well. First time here. Highly recommended. First we started first with the cheese garlic bread and the fried mozzarella. The kids got cheese ravioli. One with sauce one with butter. We got a pizza and a calzone. The staff was curious and we found a table quickly. The appetizers took a little while to come out however the garlic bread had ample cheese, the fried mozzarella was cooked to perfection and the sauce was not overbearing. My wife had the salad and all the ingredients were fresh, the italian dressing is light and tasty. The kids enjoyed the ravioli. The pizza was good. All the ingredients were fresh. The dough was soft not soggy and slices felt heavy with the amount of toppings. The calzone was more than adequate. In a nut shell delicious. I would defiantly recommend this place read more

Four of us ate dinner there last night. I have not eaten in house there for a long time due to a past experience. I have to admit my experience this time was much better except for the wait. The waitress was friendly and polite and the food was very good. Two of us had the veal parmigiana, one the chicken parmigiana and one a small pizza. The portions were decent and were served hot. The sauce was thick and not watery how I remembered it to be. Over all not bad at all... I will be eating there again for sure! However, I am still not a fan of their pizza... Crust to me lacks taste and has all the characteristics of frozen crusts. read more

Always the place to go in Coventry... because, face it- it's either here or Bidwell on the other side of town. And as far as pizza goes here or the lesser Coventry Pizza near the lake. Now, that's not to say it's bad. The pizza is great. We, and all of our friends know, there's two pizzas to get: red with jalepeno and pepperoni; or a white pizza with chicken, spinach, and feta. I'm surprised they haven't put them on the menu yet, because we order them religiously. The boneless wings are great. Lemon pepper beats the equivalent at Bidwell- which says a lot! The grinders are delicious. On occassion, we've gotten bored and tried a burger, steak, pasta, or other dish- they're always been wonderful for the type of place and price. Beer- we can always find at least one decent microbrew on tap. They have the standards like Sam Adams, too; and also the requisite swill beers like Bud. Everyone's friendly and I've made a few casual friends with people at the bar. It won't take long before you know who's a regular. read more

When it comes to pizza I'm a Greek pizza lover. My family owned a pizza house in Ashford so I'm well accustomed to the pizza making business. Dimitri's is one of the best around. In an area where Willington Pizza, (which I think is grossly overrated) these less famous places do not get the attention they deserve. Service/Atmosphere: Every time my girlfriend and I come here we're greeted immediately by a friendly hostess and taken to our table. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and the seating gives you a private feel which is nice. Every server we have had here has been friendly and informative when we have questions about the food. Food and drinks always arrive in a timely manner and the waitresses are always around in case you need something. Food: Great selection and great pizza. The sauce is flavorful and has a decent kick to it. Many places have a bland sauce that has a weak taste.The crust tastes great and the pizza is cooked so the crust has a slight crunch on the bottom rather than floppy and doughy. The toppings are numerous and fresh as well. I usually get peppers onions and pepperoni. They use red onion on the pizza which is my favorite and I don't see that much at many pizza places around. The isn't greasy either which is a plus. Overall Dimitri's is one of my favorite places to have dinner in my locality. The food is great and the staff makes sure you have a pleasant experience. Nothing bad to say about Dimitri's. We ignored it for years, literally. One day, feeling we'd exhausted all other dining options in the Willi-Storrs-Coventry area, we decided to stop in. Oh my. It's no five-star restaurant, but it's close. After three visits, I can't really come up with anything negative other than some slow service, and perhaps the feeling that you're in a blue-hair restaurant. The decor is quite nice, pretty upscale, the menu is varied with something for everyone, the staff is pleasant, they have a good draft beer selection and a full bar. Oh, and the food is pretty damned good. The prices are right, the portions are ample. We've tried salads (add on your favorite grilled item if you so choose), sandwiches, full entrees...it's all been good. Not spectacular, but very good, especially in the culinary wasteland that is Eastern Connecticut. I have no specific menu recommendations, as everything we've tried has been excellent...for around here. Part pizza joint, part fine-dining. Consider this a five-star review without that caveat. read more
