Greatest donuts I've ever had. Don't leave your mouth papery like many others. Would eat them everyday if I could.

I've never been to this place, I've never had a whole donut from here but I'm a fan for sure! Let me tell ya why. My brother, his life partner Todd and their child Booze came over to pick up me and my daughter so we could drive up to SF. He comes over, we strap in the carseats and we're off! On the drive up I notice a pink shoe sized box and my brother says to go ahead and have some or all of em, they were pretty inexpensive $8 and are pretty good. I pop open the box and WTF?! I think they robbed Maple Leaf and said put ALL of the glazed donut holes you've ever made today, into THIS box! I think if I were to pop out the donut holes onto a surface it woulda came out lookin like a brick! That box was so full I didn't think anyone could ever eat the contents of that box. My daughter wasn't thinking along those lines, so she asked for the box and I put it onto her lap. 1/2 hour into the drive we were talking and I totally forgot I'd left the small one with the box of donut holes. I look next to me and her thumb and pointer fingers are fully glazed. Her face is a mess and she's kinda twitchy...jeez. I clean her up and she's upset that she got banned from The Box but she was okay..still twitchy though. I pop a donut hole into my pie hole and WOW! No wonder 1/4 of the box was gone...damn it...the Small one had 1/4 of the box! *looks over* twitch twitch* shit. I keep stuffing my face until we get to where were going and upon our arrival I realize that 1/2 the box is gone...my hands are glazed and my face is a damned mess...TWITCH...oh no... These donut holes are magical, they make you forget how bad they are. They are a little crusty and yet they yield oh so gently once you get past the glazed goodness and the fried exterior, the hole just melts away YUM!!! If a box like that is only $8 then I'm going to that shop for sure! After our outing my brother said to take the box, so did his life partner Todd, they insisted. Still the best donuts around week after week, every week. Latest favorite is the Cinnamon Maple Twist, but the Apple Fritters are still wonderful two. This family owned shop has been consistently perfect every single time for years and is one of the highlights of my week. If you haven't been in, you're missing out. If you haven't been in for while, come back - it's just as perfect as you remeber.! read more

Wow, what a nice, well managed shop! The nice young woman at the counter could not have been more welcoming. I asked for a cup of coffee and she brewed me a fresh pot. My apple fritter was fresh and tasty. I'm lucky that Maple Leaf is so far from my house or I'd weigh 500 lbs! read more

Their donuts are always fresh and delicious. I LOVE the custard maple bar the best. I had been craving donuts. Specifically, a donut with caramel on it. Being relatively knew to the area (and as of yet a donut virgin), I wasn't sure what was what around here. Where I was from there was a local Daylight Donut store (Druber's in Newton, Kansas 5* if you're ever there), but those don't exist on the golden coast. Neither do Dunkin Donuts. So, I hopped on yelp to find something local. My wife and I found this place, saw the heaps of good reviews and bundled up and headed out into the rain to get some (yes, the craving was that strong). I was not disappointed. Not only was the caramel twist I got huge, fluffy and delicious, the 2-day supply of various donuts we got all fit the bill. We got so many, that the pink box was stuffed and they handed us a sack with a couple more in it, and it was still cheap. I think I've found my new donut fix. read more

Our local donut place. It's a typical place, counter, some seats, it's what you would expect from your local donut shop. It may not be glamorous but the Mary is sooooo sweet. She remembers our names, specifics and is so friendly. Honestly it's such a pleasure to see her in the morning, a lovely start to the day. The croissants are fluffy, the bear claw nicely sweet and apple fritter yummy. There is a great selection and of course beverages to suit whatever mood you are in. My favorite donut place in the South Bay Area. All of the franchises are great- the one on Scott is the best location though. Texas has thee best donuts so I can't dish out a 10/10 but 8.5/10 is worth the trip every time. I also like that all the locations are low key and are ran like hole-in-the-wall places rather than big chains (DunkinDobutts). read more

I should have reviewed this years ago, but I've got to confess that it took me moving to Oregon to start visiting whenever I came home to stay with family. My mom has taken my daughter here since she was a toddler. I always heard about the great donuts she had while staying with Grandma and the nice lady at the donut shop who always gave her a bunch of donut holes for free with whatever donut she got. So let me summarize: --I now visit whenever I am in town --I am not a donut fiend, but these could make me donut FAT if I lived nearby. They are fantastic! --Personally, give me a bag of those donut holes and I am a happy girl --But they've got a large variety and my family loves every single one --Apple fritters the size of a salad plate (unless you buy the half size) --Cash only --Nicest woman in town running the place If you live in the Almaden area (in the Safeway shopping center on Almaden and Camden), you owe it to yourself to at least buy a bag of donut holes. I love this donut store! It really makes me feel like I live in a neighborhood rather than just a big city. Mary and her husband know us, our kids, and now our grandkids. Friends and family who visit us always want to go to "Mary's place." A while ago one friend landed at the airport late at night and asked, "Do you think Mary's would be open?" They should change the name to "The Donut Shop Where Call You Honey". Not sure why, but keep addressing me as honey. Sure honey. Is that all honey? You sure you don't want coffee honey? Oh and by the way, the donuts are pretty good. Boston cremes and old fashions are spot on. The blueberry donuts are like Frankenberry sweet. Whether good or bad, that's up your taste buds. This is my local doughnut place, and I love it. True to their name, the maple ones are the best (I bring a dozen into work every July 1st, as well as anytime the Sharks make it to the playoffs or into the next round of the playoffs). The chocolate doughnuts are also great - not too horribly sweet like some places. The glazed ones and sugar coated are also hits with other members of my family - but I always stick to one maple and one chocolate when I'm kick-starting my day the doughnut way. :) The owners are very friendly and always compassionate of my pre-coffee brain on mornings when I stop there (usually when my husband and I have forgotten to set the delay-brew on the coffeemaker at home - because trying to make coffee before I've had coffee in the morning is never a pretty sight!) It always makes sense to me on those mornings that if I have to stop to get coffee on the way to work, I deserve doughnuts too (it's also cheaper than buying a latte at Starbucks!) They're out of the way unless you live in Almaden, but definitely worth checking out if you're down that way already! :) read more

If it's one thing I learned after going to college, it's this: You never know what you had until it's gone. And that's exactly what resonated in my mind after trying donuts from other shops. This place has the best donuts I've ever tasted. It's nice and crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. I never appreciated it until I left and tried donuts in other areas. Other places just have soft and floppy ones. If I wanted soft and floppy donuts, I would have just gone to Safeway. The service here is really nice as well. They always greet you with a smile and will give you a few donut holes when you order something. Make sure you get there early though because they run out quickly. If you have some spare change in your pocket, might as well treat yourself to one! :) read more

We decided to try Maple Leaf after reading reviews on Yelp. The doughnuts were excellent. I was surprised at how fresh they were considering we went in on Sunday afternoon at three. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount and variety they had left, since they open at 5 am. The doughnuts were so good...soft and fresh and sweet, but not sickenly so. We got a dozen for $8.50, and the owner added in a free doughnut as well. We will definitely be back! There are doughnut places closer to where we live, but I'm happy to drive a little for a great product and friendly service. They also have a nice selection of cold drinks and coffee (mochas, etc.) I'm so glad we found a family-owned shop to support, too. read more

Stopped in to grab a few doughnuts before work for the crew. She gave me a few complimentary doughnut holes and I was served with a smile. I came in at around 6:50 and everything was fresh. I had a terrible experience at Maple leaf donuts. I believe in supporting local businesses and I pre-ordered donuts for a special event the day before. When I came by to pick them up I found out they sold my donuts to someone else! All they had to say is that this kind of thing happens. The fact that I had pre-ordered (in person) meant nothing. They had my name and number and yet didn't bother to let me know I should look for an alternative. Since They make all the donuts early morning they couldn't offer me any alternative. After recommending them to the number of my friends, I Was severely disappointed at their level of service. read more

Yes, this is my neighborhood donut shop and their stuff is really good. I had a sweet tooth streak about a month or more ago. Not a good thing for the body I will tell you... I ate more than one donut at a time and had a mad sugar rush. These things really are addictive though, cause I cam back. Their donuts are always made fresh and they have a various assortment, enough to keep you coming back for more. Maple's are amazing as the name of the place suggests. I never had a bad donut until I tried Maple Leaf. I didn't like any of the 4 I purchased. The donuts were dry (I purchased them at 9:30 am) and lacking flavor. Purchased the glazed, maple bar, sprinkles, and raised chocolate, as well as donut holes. I threw them away, they were that awful. I don't understand all of the positive reviews! The donuts are crispy, light and fresh. This is all you need, all that fancy stuff is invalid if you have this.. My friend takes me to other donut places, but this is the only one I like. In terms of service, the lady is always nice to me and other customers, they always give complimentary donut holes as an extra to what we order. If I ever drink coffee, which I don't, I'd get it here rather than the Starbucks down the lot. read more
