So when I travel, I'm usually hauling around an arsenal of brewing gear like some caffeinated survivalist. And yeah... I'm picky AF. I like what I like. So if you're gonna serve me coffee, it better show up dressed in a suit and tie. In this case, it absolutely did. I had to give the local spot near Grandma's house a shot. I walked in with crossed fingers and low expectations, but walked out with a satisfied palate, a smile, and an eagerness to visit again soon. This is NOT your run-of-the-mill coffee shop. They roast onsite. Real deal, Holyfield. I started with an espresso. Then a cortado. Then grabbed a bag of Yirgacheffe to go because I gotta see what else they got going on. . These guys clearly know what they're doing; and if they don't, they accidentally perfected it anyway. The espresso was balanced, clean, and intentional. Nothing hidden behind over-roasting or gimmicks. Just refined quality coffee handled correctly. I'm genuinely glad spots like this exist, and even happier one sits right here near my fam. My husband and I took a quick work coffee break and decided to drive over to Moonbeam Cafe. We've actually been here before and came back specifically because their coffee is genuinely excellent. This time, however, the experience was a bit mixed. The drinks were still top-notch--we really enjoyed them, and the Mediterranean bagel was also fresh and delicious. Quality-wise, they absolutely deliver. That said, the customer service unfortunately didn't match the level of the coffee. The cashier interaction felt curt and low-energy, and overall not very welcoming. When my husband asked about their most popular specialty drink, she mentioned the "Milky Way" and compared it to a Starbucks macchiato--which felt like an odd comparison for a specialty coffee shop that otherwise seems to take pride in its craft. More than anything, the interaction came across as disengaged and a bit uninterested, which stood out because places like this usually shine in both product and service. I've been visiting MoonBean's Coffee a few times a week for either hot or iced coffees. My go-to are the honey lavender or vanilla lattes (both less sweet and with oat milk). I like that the coffee is on the stronger side and really creamy. A great coffee shop on the Santa Teresa side. They also have options for sugar-free syrups. For breakfast sandwiches, my go-to is the Will Clark. Can't go wrong with an English muffin with egg, bacon, smashed avocado, and cheese. Service is quick considering there's usually a long during the morning rush hour. read more

Ordered an iced Milky Way latte, super tasty and creamy (used oat milk). Came in spur of the moment morning, was not too many people sitting or ordering around 8:30 am. They do have some tables available and window seating, as well as a few seats outside. I do feel some of the inside was a little dirty on the walls near the back of the restaurant, something for them to definitely review. Cute little coffee shop that seems to specialize in roasting. The drinks have strong nutty/chocolate/roast notes that to me is distinctive to local coffee shops in comparison to more light/sweet/floral notes of larger ones, but I'm not a pro or anything. I was reading through the reviews when ordering and was worried that the drinks would be too sweet or overwhelming in flavor, but I didn't it to be an issue. I was particularly afraid of the Leprechaun but it was good! The barista was very chipper and nice which I really appreciated. There are outdoor tables. I went in on a Friday at 1:30p and it wasn't busy. Parking is spacious and cafe is easy to find. The atmosphere inside was neat too. Seating is pretty limited though. Worker was super nice and energetic! I got the almond joe latte, and flavor is STRONG. I love almond so yum. The sweetness level is probably like other places' 75%, pretty balanced. Actually I'm drinking it while writing the review and I'd give the Almond Joe drink a 10/10 :) Bring it to sip on in the library a block away!!!!! Moonbean's is my go-to coffee shop and I love that I live sooo close to it. Their lines are usually out the door and for good reason. I actually saw my last review was 9 years ago for this place---- and I still love this place. (I moved away from the area for a few years but bought a house nearby so I'm back now.) My drink is an iced zebra mocha. I've tried a couple of their other specialty drinks but my favorite is the zebra mocha. Service is great, staff is always kind. Seating is still limited inside with either people hanging out to catch up or to do work. I usually just order my drinks and go home. My brother and I were looking to get out of the house without having to spend too much money. I was very reluctant to come to this spot initially because I've been drinking Vietnamese iced coffee exclusively, but changed my mind quickly after walking in. The AI-generated coffee images pasted in the windows were a bit tacky, but the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgable about coffee. I ordered the dirty Thai and my brother got some espresso drink made with some hard to source coffee beans. I've had the Thai tea + espresso concept before so I knew I'd like it, but I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively affordable this option is here compared to the other places where I've seen it. My brother enjoyed his drink so much that he went back inside and bought a bag of the coffee beans. There isn't the most seating inside, it is a small shop, and a few people were working on their laptops. There were tables open for standing and waiting and a couple of seats outdoors, but I wouldn't take my chances at planning to get work done here. I'd recommend MoonBean's to any coffee connoisseur, or if you're looking to take that one friend that is stuck in their ca phe sua da and boba era then the dirty Thai won't let you down. read more

I've been consistently coming to this coffee shop for over 10 years. Such a local hidden gem. Inside they have a huge coffee roaster and it always smells SO GOOD in there. All of their specialty drinks are yummy but I mostly come here for the thai tea or dirty thai tea. They always use high quality ingredients and are very consistent with their drinks. Parking is plentiful but seating is limited. Docking one star because some of the baristas are not the friendliest. Make sure to grab a punch card! 1 free drink for every 12 purchased. read more

I can't believe business expect a tip and then are rude! One of the baristas was disrespectful when I changed my mind that want iced coffee instead of hot. Since when is changing your mind a problem in the food and beverage industry? When I asked for my mocha to be iced instead she looked to the other barista female next to her and rolled her eyes. I even told her at the end that she didn't need to give a look when I changed my mind and that it was rude and unprofessional. She just said "ok", didn't even apologize and ignored what she did. I didn't get her name but Mary was the cash register at the time and heard the conversation. Got a Mexico's Coffee and Breakfast English Sandwich. Both very yummy and tasty! Sweet and Cheerful Staff and quick and efficient service. What I got : Major Tom : 4/5 I came here early morning to get a little drink drink and found this place. The owners served me my drink, they were nice and quick. I was in and out under like 5 minutes. I like the drink I got, it was on the sweeter side which I prefer but I wish there a bit more coffee taste. The ambiance was chill and I love the decor and prints they have around the shop. And they got a roaster on site? That's pretty cool! This was the closest local coffee shop to me growing up in south San Jose. I lived a 10-15 minute walk away and have always loved the coffee here. They roast their own beans which is a good sign for a coffee shop off the bat. Their espresso is very smooth and not bitter, it blends very well into the flavors of their specialty lattes. My go-to is the Milky Way. The employees here are very welcoming and always open to any questions you have about the menus their service is reasonably fast. The environment is casual and friendly, and the WiFi is fairly quick so you can definitely make this is study or work spot, though seating is a bit limited. My only gripe is that they used to be open a bit later pre-pandemic, so you have to look for other options for a coffee fix in the later afternoon or early evening.
