The signs to the coffee shop up the stairs were very clear. The inside of the coffee shop was bright, clean, and spacious with a cool and peaceful vibe. Service was friendly. While the tables of the banquette seating along one wall were all taken, there were plenty of other tables and chairs available. My matcha was very pretty and tasted legit. The fancy pastries (some savory/some sweet) from Neighbor Bakehouse in San Francisco all looked beautiful and yummy. The ones I tried were all delicious. The selections were limited, but you didn't have to go all the way to SF to get them. This would be a great place to have a nice cup of coffee while getting some work/study done, too.

There are some interesting food options, and the menu is on the limited side which assures me that each item will likely be or a higher quality. The prices make sense for the portion sizes as well. I think the coffee is better than the food--the All Nighter was very interesting, as the coffee flavor was pretty strongly fruity compared to what I am used to with Vietnamese lattes (this item was described as the cafe's take of one). I would love to try some of their other flavored lattes, which they profess are made with house-made syrups. The ube waffle was okay--it isn't better than anything I could make at home with a storebought waffle mix, and is not served with any condiments or toppings. I am curious about their other food options but am thus far not particularly awed. I like that they are pretty coffee-forward and that their drinks are not overly sweetened, and I would recommend it. My wife ordered the iced lavender vanilla, and I went with the iced café carmelita. He also asked if we wanted food, so we tried the lemon blueberry loaf and a turkey avocado sandwich. Everything did not disappoint. The drinks were amazing--Enrique absolutely nailed the recommendations--and the turkey avocado sandwich was especially memorable. While our drinks were being made, we had some friendly small talk with the staff, which added to the experience. The overall vibe was great. They do not have any dedicated parking and you will need to rely on street parking, but from the times I have been there, it has been pretty fruitful. When walking towards the reserved area, you are greeted with very mystical decor, with hanging fake wisterias, and decorated in floral. The menu has a good amount of items to try from, and they do have seasonal drinks. When I asked the last time, they did mention they stock their pastries from Manresa (if you are a fan, you might want to order a thing or two!) The service is very friendly, and I waited max only 10 minutes for my drink. Despite it being completely outdoor, there is ample seating, and while I might not recommend it for studying or working from home, this is a cute spot to catch up with friends or even read a book outdoors. The last few times I went, I got a lavender latte (and it did not blow my mind nor differed from other places), but despite that, it still fulfilled a need. I also have ordered a seasonal orange cardamom latte (only comes iced), which had subtle floral notes and a mild citrus flavor. It was delicious. I wish it came hot, but that is just preference. They roast onsite. Real deal, Holyfield. I started with an espresso. Then a cortado. Then grabbed a bag of Yirgacheffe to go because I gotta see what else they got going on. . These guys clearly know what they're doing; and if they don't, they accidentally perfected it anyway. The espresso was balanced, clean, and intentional. When my husband asked about their most popular specialty drink, she mentioned the "Milky Way" and compared it to a Starbucks macchiato--which felt like an odd comparison for a specialty coffee shop that otherwise seems to take pride in its craft. More than anything, the interaction came across as disengaged and a bit uninterested, which stood out because places like this usually shine in both product and service. We'll likely still come back for the coffee and food, but I do think the service experience matters a lot--and this visit didn't quite meet expectations on that front.
