I can say nothing negative about the food because the flavors are so spot on, I can have it daily and still love it. There isn't the heavily produced or from a packet taste. It's consistent every single time! I always get the spicy cold noodles and the amount of noodles to veggies ratio is just perfect. The spicy sauce is too right and I want for naught. And when I do want more spice, I'll get a cup of tteokbukki and stump it in. The overall taste mixes my two fave delicate palettes into one mega amazing meal! The one thing I think MG can improve is their service. It's tough arriving to pick up my meal after my app tells me it's ready but have the front desk tell me it will be another 10-15 minutes... when my meal is ready to be picked up behind him. I also tried ordering waaaay ahead when I know I'd have to order more but when I arrived, hearing the guy say it wasn't ready and the kitchen exclaim "It's that time already?!" wasn't... very encouraging. So this spot is the go to place for Katsu when I am in Riverside! One of the best Korean restaurants in Riverside for sure! The parking situation is always sketchy so park at your own risk. I always order ahead of time so I don't have to wait, I suggest ordering about 25 minutes ahead of time. Onto the food, the Chicken Katsu Plate is their best dish in my opinion and I've had a couple of their other dishes so far. The Katsu is crispy and the chicken is tender, the portion is great for the Large plate. I came today right when they open at 11am and I was their first customer. Despite being their first customer of the day, I had to wait 20 minutes for my food and the 3 people who order after me, receive their food before me. This is the second time it's happened and it's upsetting since I had to rush to eat to make it to my class. Despite the slow service, their food is pretty good. If this store were in an area such as Garden Grove which is filled with Korean food, I wouldn't consider coming here. I order the naengmyun combo with the Katsu and it was good. This place has a homey feel. The (who I assume are) the mom and dad cook and the 9ish year old kid took my order. It reminded me of when I was a kid and I helped in my parent's taco shop. Everyone helped! Food: I had the udon with pork. I had forgotten how mild flavored udon broth is. I think that I will be trying something different next time. The flavor was not there. The pork was perfectly fried and crunchy though. I really liked that! Service: Great for a quick to-go order. The kid was very efficient and good at what he was doing. This is the only Korean food near UCR's campus, so when craving that taste, it hits the spot. It's a bit more fast-food style, so don't expect to cook your own meats or have side dishes, but they do a passable job at the standards. I've had the spicy pork many times and am always satisfied, but my mainstay is the curry pork katsu. They also have some Korean frozen treats. P.S. I had the Bibimbap and fried chicken wings. I was so happy that the bibimbap had king trumpet mushrooms in it. The wings were spicy, but not too spicy. I also tasted the bulgogi kimbap roll. My favorite Korean spot in the area. Store is comfy and has a friendly, chill atmosphere. They always play kpop or other Korean music. Prices are very good for the amount of food we get. I always get full after finishing a plate. The place is somewhat similar to a fast food place because we pay then we go and pick up our order then we have to put the tray back and throw trash out so it's not a traditional restaurant setting. I'm pretty sure it's family-ran so that's good and I feel great about supporting this place. My usual order here is the curry katsu udon or ramen. Their curry doesn't taste like Japanese curry, it's more Korean-styled. I really like the curry. I wish the katsu meat inside could be softer. It's crispy on the outside but too hard on the inside. The ramen is just simple ramen with an egg and fish cake. But I like it because it's cheap yet still yummy. I've tried a lot on their menu. Another dish I really like is the Manna tteokbokki. I think they recently added the option to add mozzarella in it for an extra $2 and it definitely adds more flavor to the dish. Not good. Ordered from here a good 6 times in the past 2-3 years. It's was OK! Decided to order again tonight. Bulgogi beef plate came with a ton of rice and their shredded cabbage salad. The bulgogi was 50% veggies (onion carrot and cabbage) and 50% meat. That's not how you make bulgogi. The meat was super wet. $16 for maybe 3oz of meat?! The kimbap is fine... maybe the only thing I'll order from here if my local Korean market runs out. They charged me nearly $4 for 1/4 a cup of kimchi. This place is trying everything to save a buck while raising their prices. Not worth it. Just drive a little further to a real Korean restaurant. I feel cheated. read more
