Also the Almond Croissant "classic croissant filled with frangipane & topped with sliced almonds & powdered sugar" for $5. Neither were worth it. The croissant roll was all style and no substance. I started to doubt it had any filling inside because it was so light and it took me so many bites to reach any filling. It was difficult to eat and balance the flavors in each bite. The pastry just tasted like bland bread. The filling was decent when I actually got some. As for the almond croissant, it was embarrassingly flat and also tasted burnt. I get the hype! Came on a Saturday morning for breakfast and everything was delicious. I had the breakfast sandwhich which was a decent size and super tasty. The tomatoes were bursting with flavor, the avocado was so fresh and ripe, the bacon jam was DECEDENT, and the bun its served on is super light, airy, and fluffy. It's definitely a messy sandwhich that requires a fork and knife but so good! I also got an iced vanilla latte which was great. They only had lavender and vanilla as available syrups but it looks like they have a few other signature drinks that have more flavors. Overall solid latte and not too sweet. They go on the lighter side on the syrup so if you want something sweeter/more flavor forward you may need to ask for more syrup. Ended with an almond croissant. Calling it a croissant is generous -- it didn't bake up the way a croissant does and was much more dense and doughy and almost cake like but still a fabulous pastry! Their regular croissant and everything bagel croissant looked more like actual croissants. No idea why the almond croissant looks like a flat croissant pancake but the taste is still there! The aesthetic is super adorable, lots of wood and greenery and cute ceramics. It's also quite spacious. There is plenty of room to sit inside and some limited seating outside. Food and drinks came out super quickly. The line can get quite long depending on when you pop in but don't let the line intimidate you, things still move pretty quickly. You order at the counter and if you're dining in they give you a number and bring your order to you. Paid about ~$30 for a latte, breakfast sandwhich and a croissant so it's on par with similar places, Tatte, Bluestone Lane, etc. Only downside is there was no air conditioning/it was broken/not on (?) so it was super hot and humid inside. My unexpected visit to Maman comes with mixed feelings about the experience. The floral aesthetics of the decor and dinnerware are very Euro bakery. The window counter seating is great for people watching. And, the restaurant playlist was enjoyable with diverse artists. As stated in some reviews, if Verizon is your provider, you will have no or poor cellphone service. After reading a few Yelp reviews, I skipped the beverage menu. Instead I ordered the smashed avocado tartare and the pistachio orange olive oil cake. The avocado toast was basic. The onions overpowered the taste of the toast. The pumpkin seeds, kosher salt, and red pepper flakes were the stars of the toast. However, the pistachios orange olive oil cake stole the show. The density and flavors of the cake like muffin was a welcome surprise. Be warned, you might not enjoy the bakery if you have a nut allergy. A lot of the items contained nuts. read more

I stopped in here on a Sunday at noon! I was immediately blown away by the bright space, high ceilings, floral decor and many seating options (high tops, couches, tables and a loft area). I approached the counter to check out the menu and get a few recommendations. After speaking with the cashier I went with the breakfast bowl and the seasonal latte. I snagged a seat at a couch in the front. My food came out in about 5 minutes. I didn't realize I had to get my own utensils and water so after tracking that down I was able to dig in. The bowl was a large portion full of potatoes, caramelized onions, bacon, chopped kale, runny egg and avocado and topped with an aioli. Overall the bowl was great while I had to add some salt & pepper it was definitely a great choice. I do think there could have been more kale. It took over 10 minutes for the latte to come out, but it was worth the wait. The latte was served in a beautiful mug with the perfect amount of foam and flavor, it was such an unexpected treat. The small was actually quite large so I wish I had ordered it to go, but I was able to sit & savor it for a little while. The service was really great! the front counter lady and the barista were both helpful, kind, and very friendly. The coffee (a plain latte and a dirty chai) was not that great. The chai was bland at best and the latte was more on the burnt bitter side. WE also bough at assortment of baked goods. The chive cheddar scone was overly dry, the puff pastry on the ham and cheese, the turkey and goat cheese, and the chocolate croissant were crispy, but super dry, as if all the butter ran out in the course of baking. Each location is well decorated but the greenery and floral theme of this location is my favorite. We ordered iced coffee, peach mango tea, a crème brûlée cookie and a brownie. My friend loved the peach mango tea. I got my iced coffee with a flavor shot for .50 extra (options were vanilla, caramel, and honey lavender). The crème brûlée cookie was good but not great, recommend a chocolate chip cookie instead. The brownie was fudge filled and flavorful. The employees we interacted seemed very nice. Met a friend here for a coffee date on a Saturday morning and my first impression was that it has really nice decor. However, as others have mentioned, the service is not the best and a bit slow. There was also a slight language barrier with the guy taking orders and he frequently had to ask another coworker for clarity to answer questions. It's possible he was a new employee and still learning everything. For coffee, I ordered the seasonal pain d'epices latte with almond milk and half the sweetness. When it arrived at the table it was unfortunately luke warm but still tasted pretty good and had the right amount of sweetness. After a few sips, I ended up ordering a drip coffee and poured it in to get some warmth. The drip coffee was actually very good black and I enjoyed it mixed in. My friend enjoyed an egg white omelette that was served with a side salad but I didn't try any of the food on this visit. The omelette was huge and she ended up taking some of it to go. I would like to return to try some of the food and one of the pastries that all looked fantastic. Hopefully they figure out how to improve the service and can serve hot drinks next time. read more

They're hard to eat and kind of dry. Great atmosphere with nice decor. Can get loud on weekends. Servers are consistently efficient in taking orders but I wouldn't call them friendly. Excellent location for Union market browsing. The latest time I went was a Saturday afternoon. I grabbed the pistachio caramel brioche pastry and a macchiato. My partner got a hot chai latte with an espresso shot and banana bread. It was excellent. The shop is very ascetically pleasing with greenery and antique gorgeous pottery coffee/tea cups (along with to go options which is what I got). There is a main floor as well as upstairs seating. We've absolutely fallen in love with this place for morning coffee. The pastries are insanely good, and the decor is beautiful. The Paris to New York Croissant is fabulous - basically a brownie wrapped in a croissant. The tomato thyme croissant is a great savory option. Admittedly the croissant cubes are a little overblown, but everything else has been excellent. If there's a drawback here, it's that drinks take a long time. They have only one barista and during weekends it can get quite busy. This morning there were relatively few customers beyond our group, and some of us finished our pastries before our lattes came! But the pumpkin pie latte was excellent, and I've enjoyed their lavender latte in the past. Cute cafe and patisserie with two levels of seating (second floor is great for people watching and taking in the people watching) and some outdoor seating as well. Great location in union market, it's a corner shop so there is lots of natural light and the tea options are wonderful (they even have honey, which is hard to come by in many cafes). A healthy selections of brunch items and pastries. I highly recommend for a location to catch up with friends, remote work spot (lots of things to order all day), and brunch. I did a pastry tasting a few days ago, ordered 6 different pastries and coffee, to get a complete sense of it. First and foremost, I give 4 stars to the experience because of the amazing cookie/croissant. It's a cookie topped with hazelnut cream and another cream I don't know on top, enclosed in a sort of croissant...what a dream! Please take it, if you're there and want to do yourself a favor . Service was nice, waiting time not too long and a very pleasant environment. I appreciate the green and the large table, as well as the not too strong AC inside, which makes it very pleasant on a hot day. What I do not recommend are the brownie-like pastry (I really took a bite and left the rest there - which I rarely do) and anything with Pistachio cream. I'll be specific about why: as far as the brownie is concerned, I suggest to find a different recipe for the dough, which tasted like raw dough. As far as the pistacchio pastries are concerned, the dough is absolutely fine, and I believe the olive oil and pistachio (one specific pastry) are an interesting combination. What I do not appreciate, is the pistacchio cream used. It seems to be pistachio syrup, very sugary and chemical, rather than high quality and high percentage pistacchio cream. I consider this to be a high level bakery, so finding low quality ingredients (especially when it comes to pistacchio cream) is really disappointing... on the other hand it is an easy fix! The decor is more feminine,this is why I never went by myself (stupid right) I know. This one in union market was beautiful lol! I wanted to try the chocolate chip cookies but they only had one left and it looked like it was burnt and inedible, I did ask if they were making more but was told they were not I believe cause they were going to be closing soon I went around 3 so yea. The ginger molasses cookie tasted way too much like ginger and that was it not sweet at all and not memorable either. I think the quiches looked great as each slice was enough to satisfy and looked delicious but I didn't have it so I don't know just going off looks. I can't say too much but from what I tried and between the vanilla oatmeal raisin cookie and the ginger molasses of course the oatmeal one takes the win. The Lavender Hot Chocolate was too strong in lavender taste. The Honey Lavender Latte was not bad, but not amazing... I also asked for iced, and they gave me hot. I did enjoy their savory pastries such as the Chorizo Scone and Focaccia. They also gave me a Blueberry Scone instead of Chorizo at first, and I had to ask them to correct this mistake. I had already touched the blueberry one so I was surprised they took it back instead of giving it to me when I told them.
