3.15.26 I loved the cinnamon roll and flourless brownie. Hubby did not enjoy his coffee and thought his lemon tart was too lemony. I would definitely return to their other pastries. Note that orders can be placed online. read more

Nope. We stopped by on Sunday morning. This place was packed for Memorial Day weekend. We felt bad because they were clearly understaffed. My sandwich looked delicious but it lacked flavor. The only flavor clearly coming through was the mayo! The tables we're dirty. The staff wasn't friendly at all. The prices were pretty high for the lack of flavor. The drinks were bland. The only redeeming thing was the raspberry tart my daughter had. read more

The food was pretty good. I had a raisin bun, which I would order again. But I wouldn't return to fresh baguette for one. It wasn't so good that I would go there just so I could eat one. I also had half of my wife's almond croissant, which again was very good but not so good that I would seek one out. The service was inconsistent. There were two registers, and when I walked up to the second register to pay the woman who was standing behind, it, just walked away from it. She wasn't paying any attention to me or the other customers. There were five people there and only one person was working a register. Everyone else seemed to be milling around. It wasn't that they were holding a bad attitude or anything. It was more that they were in inattentive and unaware. The ambience... Well, it provided some relief from the cold. But other than that, it was pretty stale. It was a nice place to sit and talk with friends, but nothing special. read more

We got the everything crogel and a pistachio orange blossom tart- both were really really good. I have to say- I was sketical about the crogel just being another food fad but it was actually really good. It had the flakiness of a croissant but packed more of the flavor of a bagel. Definitely worth a try. The seating inside is a bit limited but we didn't have a hard time sitting even on a Saturday morning. Took one star off because we ordered a cappacino and a macchiato- both took about 10 minutes to come out and made no distinction between the 2 drinks so we couldn't tell which was which and... neither did they- hah! But it was fine since neither of us ordered a specific milk to go with either of the drinks. Still it was rather odd. read more

I have decided to challenge myself to explore more of DC this year. Sometimes that means my early morning commute I will take different walks to the office to see what is available. I had seen this pop up over time in Penn Quarter and seen it was open early. I finally made it a point to stop in to grab some breakfast to go. Unlike most visits, I did not look this place up beforehand and had to take a minute to look at the menu to see what they have. However, you can toss that out the window and walk up to the counter to see what they have readily available. A quick look to see what was there I asked for the Ham & Cheese Croissant. Not what you are thinking here. It's not a sandwich with ham and cheese between the cut portions of a croissant. It is ham and cheese hugged by the croissant as it bakes. Odd looking, but very tasty. The only downside is that since it is a croissant, it can be a bit messy to eat with all that flaky crust. But that's why you go into your office, close your door, and devour your breakfast snack. Definitely a new option for me on my work breakfast spots. Hopefully I will be able to get there earlier to have a chance to get other things that go fast. They do offer to toast it up before you head out if you need. Catering available. read more

Fresh Baguette always delivers on quality, no matter the location. I stopped by the Terrell Place location on a weekend near the end of the day, and it was clear they'd had a busy one since many of the pastries were sold out. Even so, the one staff member working was excellent and kept everything running smoothly. The space was clean and welcoming, just like every other Fresh Baguette I've visited. The quality of the pastries was as consistent as ever, which is why I keep coming back. And of course, I always recommend the canelé -- it's a must-try. read more

Received these as a gift, so coming from the perspective that they have been sitting out for a couple hours and reheated in the oven. Despite this, you can see the visible flakes in the croissant, which is very important for a cafe marketing itself through French-style pastry! Additionally, we were so excited by the pastries we got to try. I think it has become a very American thing to add flavors, creams, toppings to plain croissants, but these felt very intentional and not doing too much, just elevating the flaky dough through simple flavors. read more

Probably the best croissant I have had in my life and Miguel offered great service 10/10

Order regularly from their Mclean location, first experience with Penn Quarter for a takeout. Consistent recipes and service. Pistachio Orange Blossom Tart is a 6/5, all age groups love it and so is the Normande. Opal Noir and Lemon Meringue are solid too for chocolate and lemon lovers. read more

Staying at the nearby Hotel Monaco, Fresh Baguette is an easy place to grab a morning snack. Before we started the day, we grabbed mini chocolate croissants and other pastries. There's plenty of seating inside and lots of baked goods to pick from. My eight-year-old daughter loved her mini bread. There's croissants were tasty but I found them very flaky and a bit dry. read more

Such a beautiful place with delicious pastries, breads and beverages! The interior is well lit, clean, spacious and modern. Products (cookies and snacks) from France are for sale in a corner. The front has a big display case with plenty of sandwiches and pastries spaced apart. We got coffee, a butter croissant and an ahi tuna sandwich and hot coffee. The baguette the sandwich was made on was still warm. The tuna was freshly made (not canned) and accompanied by greens (arugula, tomatoes and onions). The coffee was very high quality. The butter croissant was massive, and very buttery, with a great crunch and flakiness. Unfortunately, no pictures of the food (ate it all too quickly). The dining area had plenty of seating, making for a great place for lunch, dinner or a casual coffee outing. read more

I've been back 3 times/month since they opened! Glad another location of Fresh Baguette opened in Penn Quarter. Scrumptious croissants and croissant bagel slice "Cro'gel" sandwiches with an everything bagel like seasoning. The sandwich was a bit pricey at $14, there's also a petite smaller size Cro'gel sandwich too. The Fall Autumn Veggie Cro'gel sandwich hit the spot with a fried egg with melted cheese, roasted veggies, aioli, and greens. The flavors blended well and very filling. While the Tarragon Egg Salad Cro'gel sandwich was fun to try, it was a bit tangy with a bold pickle flavor. If you love pickles, go for it! The Pesto/Caprese Cro'gel sandwich is a bit bland. The fluffy Almond Croissant was divine. There's a galore of breads, croissants, sandwiches, and baked goods to choose from. Would be nice to see vegetarian baguette sandwiches added to the menu. Will come back for the Veggie Cro'gel sandwich, hope it stays on the menu! read more

If this place gets their service together, they would be one of the best spots in town. We came in and ordered two bagel sandwiches. I wanted a latte, but I heard the cashier tell a group in front of us that they only had drip coffee. I thought that was weird because they have this whole little thing on the wall showing the different types of coffee drinks. I ordered a large black coffee and the employee, with trainee written on her jacket, told me they only have drip coffee. She then proceeded to ask me if black coffee was the same thing as a drip coffee. She seemed fairly young, but if you're working with coffee, you should understand that a black coffee is indeed a drip coffee with nothing in it. After ordering the food and sitting down at a table, we waited approximately 20 to 25 minutes and noticed that people that had ordered after us were receiving their food. I asked the manager what was going on and nobody seemed to have our order. He gave somewhat of an apology and had me verify my order with him. He told me they would immediately get on it, but the woman making the sandwiches just continued making other orders. I sat back down and waited another 10 minutes before the sandwich maker called me back up there. She asked me again what we ordered and I told her. After about another 10 minutes, we finally received our food and it was great. At some point in there, I would've complained to the manager again, but he was out on a phone call in his truck and I really didn't want to bother him even though his staff was dropping the ball. The problem was all this waiting around for them to get their act together almost made us late for an appointment we had. The staff here is a mess and the manager really didn't seem to care all that much about it, but the food is great. I don't know that we would ever come back if we come back to DC. read more

This place is very underwhelming. Not a lot of variety in products. not very common bakery items and nothing ever seems fresh. They don't even have cookies some days. What bakery doesn't have fresh baked cookies, and when they do they aren't fresh. I had to opt for some weird truffle bite sized cake dessert, and when i did, the flavors were awful. Place barely has people. They run out of stuff fairly early. I would say maybe just buy a fresh baguette early morning. I would go to another bakery for pastries, even whole foods is better. read more

decent pastries, they supply a lot around dc. a warm ham and cheese is great so are their baguettes

Great selection of pastries. I thoroughly enjoyed their raspberry croissant, which was FILLED with raspberry, really packed a punch. Haven't seen that item at other bakeries, so that was a new experience for me. Chill vibe with lots of tables so you can just chill out with coffee and a pastry for a while without being rushed. read more

What a great little place near the arena and museums and METRO. A friend of mine and I stopped for lunch and had excellent baguette sandwiches with very fresh ingredients. Service is an all counter affair where you order and you pick up your order. Interior is comfortable, not a big place but not an issue either. For the food quality, price is good. Only negative is limited drinks selection. As a whole, great little place that could become a lunchtime favorite or a place to get great looking baked goodies. read more

We had a fun little afternoon snack here after the day exploring the art museum! I got the crogel (croissant bagel) for the novelty, and it was quite good. It was harder and crunchier than an actual croissant, but far flakier than a bagel. The place itself was cute, but nearly every table was dirty with crumbs and spills. read more

Miguel and Ariana were great and helped me pick out some baked goods for an event. Really nice spot in the neighborhood! Will come again.

I've been wanting to try this bakery out for some time and it has great curb appeal. However after trying the California Crogel - I would not come back unless it was to try a pastry. The crogel wasn't toasted warm and was rather cold to eat. Everything was assembled as if I could make it at home. They didn't have any coffee or milk available which didn't make sense when the cafe was light on traffic and during lunch hour. With Tatte and Maman as competitors, I would say Fresh Baguette falls incredibly behind. read more

The last time I had really good baguette was in St. Martin eight years ago. Today (11/14/24) i almost walked passed Fresh Baguette i can never passed a Baguette and thanks goodness I didn't. This Baguette is 10 out of 10 for me! It's flaky/crispy/bit chewy but super soft on the inside and a bit of salt makes this a crave worthy! Add cheese and i had dinner. LOVE it! And I had Quiche Lorraine for lunch the crust was flaky/buttery/light the fillings were stuffed with smoked sausages, the eggs were creamy. It was good but it was missing a bit of salt and pepper for me. read more

Amazing service and atmosphere! All workers are very friendly. Croissants were light, airy, and very tasty! Definitely will come back!

Flat ware was dirty. No drip coffee. Attitude was awful . The anger was hard and old.

Gave this place two tries. Both times were terrible First time. They did not have anymore drip coffee at 2pm In The afternoon 2nd time I got a lukewarm coffee and they were out of white sugar. What cafe runs out of coffee and sugar?!? Dirty counters and the kicker. A drip coffee and a cro'gel was 20 dollars. Are you kidding me. Kick rocks read more

What a great bakery! We went on our way out of the city. It was early afternoon, so a lot of the pastries were sold out. We got sandwiches that were probably the best we've had in a while! The bread was good and the ingredients were fresh. We got eclairs for the road too! My only criticism was it didn't smell like baking bread. I would have enjoyed that! Also the women were not really personable. No smiles. Only business. Still, I loved the place and the sandwiches were amazing!! read more
