Yum! I wish I could leave it at that, everything was delicious. I loved that Tatte was within walking distance of the hotel. The bakery case was full of same day cakes, bread, lemon tastes, donuts, puff pastry, granola dnd so much more. I started with avocado toast and chai to control my need to overeat pastries, but when on vacation, eat the scratch made treats! The donuts were so fluffy and fresh, overfilled with greasy cream loved every bite. Oh and the staff were so friendly.
If you're looking for a café that feels like you've stepped off a cobblestone street somewhere in Europe, this is the spot. The moment I walked in, I got those cozy, old-world vibes--warm lighting, a relaxed atmosphere, and the kind of charm that makes you want to linger a little longer. The coffee? Excellent. Smooth, rich, and clearly made by people who care about their craft. Their pastry case is dangerous in the best way, and I tried the pistachio croissant on this visit. It wasn't bad at all--light, flaky, and just the right touch of sweetness. It's also a great space for lunch. Plenty of room, calm energy, and a perfect place to unwind, catch up with a friend, or get a little work done. Overall, great spot that brings a taste of Europe right into the neighborhood. I'll definitely be back!
Take me to Tatte!! First discovered Tatte Bakery & Cafe in Boston. One of my favorites for breakfast in the northeast. Pastry chef Tzurit Or initially started Tatte Bakery & Café in 2007 bringing home baked treats to sell at local Boston farmers' markets. After just one summer, Tatte opened its first brick-and-mortar bakery in Brookline. Love how comfortable each location feels despite being so popular. Wish there was one in Houston. Grab a menu and a table, not necessarily in that order. Order a breakfast (served all day), a weekend brunch or shakshuka. The Meze Breakfast was a great brunch spread. Two eggs with small sides of house made cashew pepper spread, feta & pistachio spread, roasted shishito pepper, dukkah and a chopped salad. Served with a fresh sesame Jerusalem bagel. Perfect way to start the weekend. Like shakshuka? Try a Traditional, Corn and Spinach or Lamb Meatball. Note, this is not your grandmother's shakshuka. The Corn and Spinach Shakshuka was so good. It's my favorite! Creamy corn sauce with baby spinach and poached eggs topped with heirloom cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, zhoug, Aleppo chili oil, and parsley. Served with a spoon and slices of sourdough to soak up that delicious sauce. Definitely get this one. The Lamb Meatball & Labneh Shakshuka was gobbled up by my husband. A tomato and bell pepper base with poached eggs, lamb meatballs, and peppadew peppers topped with spicy labneh and parsley. Served with a house made challah bread to start off your Saturday the right way. Service was great even though they were quite busy on a sunny summer Saturday in July.
This Tatte location is just a 12-minute walk from the Amtrak Union Station, making it a great option to grab a bite after a long train ride. I did just that and got three things: a matcha latte, a raspberry yogurt meringue cookie, and the roasted salmon winter vegetable bowl, which altogether was $28. I actually wish I could have tried their seasonal pumpkin latte but they were out, so I panicked and ordered the matcha lol. I didn't know until after I had ordered that they also had a seasonal pistachio latte, I wish I had ordered that instead because I thought the matcha latte was just okay. It was pretty smooth matcha but not sweet enough for me. I used to be a meringue hater until I had actually good meringue that is crispy and melts in your mouth, so I was excited to try their raspberry meringue cookie thing but it wasn't quite the texture I imagined it would be. Well it also has yogurt in it so maybe that's why the texture was not like your typical meringue. It was low key making me a meringue hater again lol Okay I know so far it seems like I didn't really enjoy Tatte that much, but the roasted salmon bowl was excellent! Right when they bring it out to you, you are met with incredible aromas from the dish. The salmon is perfectly cooked and is slightly crispy on the top. At first I was worried about the low salmon to rice ratio, but it ended up not being a problem because the rice is well seasoned. I probably honestly could have very well enjoyed just the rice even without the salmon, that's how good the rice tasted! I didn't get it this time, but I know their pistachio croissant is good here. Overall I like Tatte, great service and great vibes. I'm still sitting in here to write this review lol, I mean I look around and there are several others who are also working here on their laptops. Two restrooms at the front of the restaurant behind the counter where you order your food. Bonus points to this location for playing Kina Grannis' song "In Your Arms" wow what a throwback!!! Another great Tatte in area the macha and lamb shakshouka are my go tos they have so much on menu and service is usually very nice and fast. Matcha is nice and rich with milk but bitterness of the mach balances it out giving it depth. The lamb shakshouka was nice and savory with a tomato sauce and eggs. The lamb was nice and tender with good seasoning. It is a classic coffee breakfast place inside with pastries and a ton of different drinks.
The drinks here are delicious and so are the breakfast items. We went here twice during our short weekend trip to DC. First time we got the lamb hash and I normally do not like lamb, 10/10. Second time we got the traditional shakshuka also a 10/10. Whoever recommended the fig lemonade in the below comments, may your pillow always be cold. It was delicious! The coffee here was solid too and my kids enjoyed the Nutella and short bread cookies. Omg I just found out they are opening a location in Morristown NJ. Yes!!!!!
A spacious cafe with nice selections of bread and pastries. Their food options are really nice also. It is quite popular and busy, but the service was nice. There are counter seatings along the window, a large communal style table, and 2 tops. All the seatings don't give you much space in between, but I was there with my daughter and we went there for brunch before heading to museums so it was okay for us.
HORRIBLE SERVICE. If I could give it 0 stars I would... I am Amazed by how bad service was. I ordered a Lamb Meatball shakshuka with eggs well done. They sent shakshuka with soft eggs, which specifically requested not to do because I'm pregnant and cannot eat eggs like that. They took my plate, 20 minutes later they send the wrong order... I go back again and then they just give me the previous order they kept in the kitchen for 20 minutes, cold and just threw 2 eggs on top and gave it back to me like saying "don't bother" as if they were making me a favor... I am the client, I paid for my food and the least they could do was to provide the food requested and at least provide a good service. It was a horrible experience and what saddens me the most is that Tatte was my favorite restaurant... not anymore.
Tatte Bakery & Cafe has simple but beautiful interior. The breads, pastries, and cakes are displayed in an organized way, allowing customers to have a clear view of the selection. I got the plain, chocolate, and pistachio croissants, kouign-amann, and iced ginger-date oat milk latte. The pastries tasted good. They had good flakiness and were buttery. My drink had strong ginger taste than date. It was not bad. The bakery gets crowded and busy fast. I would come back here again.
We came here for a late lunch on our last day in DC, and it was one of the more memorable meals in the city. The best item, by far, was the preserved fig lemon mint soda. It was so good, we went back for a second drink. Refreshing and super flavorful! For food, they were sold out of the turkey avocado, so we ordered the chicken pita and the leek / potato / spinach quiche. I've never had a quiche quite like this before...it was full of veggies and had minimal egg, but it was really enjoyable. The chicken pita was really great too, and I'm glad we tried it. The low points were the black sesame latte -- too minimal on the black sesame flavor. And the desserts we tried -- pistachio cherry tart and a passion fruit krembo -- were dry and just not impressive, respectively. However, the menu is vast, reasonably priced for DC, and they have multiple locations, so I'd definitely come back.

ALL of the food here is amazing and incredible. Such a well balanced fusion of food made from scratch. this is always a go to spot to bring friends and family that come to visit whether you come for brunch or to relax and read a book, while enjoying any of their incredible bakery selection. I can't recommend it enough. The pastries, bakery, and food are balanced healthy and nutritious. The attention to detail is immaculate and so well balanced. During brunch, Tatte is always bustling with customers from the diverse diaspora of life in DC, and the staff never fail to deliver under pressure. I am so grateful read more

2nd time I've visited a Tatte. First time was in Boston. Tatte is a very inviting modern bakery and cafe with mostly white and black decor. We went for a late Thursday breakfast (~9:30) and were able to find some seating but they were at 90%+ capacity. We crammed our group of four into a spot normally meant for 2-3 people. Seating is at a premium as there are people using the restaurant as a place to work out of because they serve coffee. It's a bit of an odd dynamic since people need to sit to eat and sometimes tables are occupied by laptops instead of dining patrons. The food: Lamb Meatball Shakshuka - I had the regular Shakshuka the first time visiting, since I wanted to try the original. Stewed tomatoes with eggs served with toast. I think the lamb is a nice upgrade since the meat cuts the acidity of the tomato, and there is just a lot of tomato. Strawberry & Raspberry Cheesecake Cup - this delivers exactly what I would want for a cheesecake in a cup. Cheesecake is in the middle of for texture between fluffy and very dense cheesecake. Sesame Latte - an interesting drink fusion - coffee with black sesame. I think this is fairly well balanced with it tasting a little like black sesame and a little like coffee. Pistachio and Ham & Cheese Croissants - we asked these to be heated prior to eating. I thought they were slightly crusty on the outside, inside was soft without much structure (a little flat). They were ok and I liked the Pistachio one better. Overall, a solid, clean and modern place to get a beverage or meal. They offer some unique items to make things interesting. read more

The Tatte bakery is spacious and has an upscale vibe. It's a great place for a quick coffee. I ordered the flat white and it was nicely prepared and smooth. There are also a variety of baked goods. Service was fast and they bring the coffee pastries to you. This location is newer. read more

Love their Ginger Date Oatmilk Latte hot and their crumbs cheesecake. Hippy ambience near Georgetown university. Service is quick Tried tomato basil soup - little salty for me and not creamy. I wouldn't order it again. read more
Ran in here to get away from the rain and glad we did! The cafe is huge! I love that they have a separate bar to make drinks and also an area for all the food. This makes such a difference. Less chaos and people clumped in one area. Everything I tried was good. They have so many different pastries options and French desserts. This was the only cafe and bakery around so it was perfect. Would come here again if it was the only place on the street! read more

This was a poppin lunch spot! Parking is impossible, but that's everywhere in DC so I'm assuming you're walking. Their breakfast and lunch rushes are crazy. That said, other than the volume and not finding a place to sit quickly, it doesn't affect much. The service is VERY fast and friendly. I had the Turkey BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato). It has an awesome siracha mayo on it! Not spicy at all but packs a ton of flavor. Mine was heavy in the onions but not a big deal. The coffee (iced mocha with oatmilk) was perfect. I wouldn't come with a big group expecting to be happy, but for a 1-2 table/bar spot or coffee and a bite on the go it doesn't get much better. read more

My daughter and I were looking for a coffee shop to try and we came across Tatte Bakery. The vibes were giving high end with a heavy "chill factor". I feel like i can get some work done, read a book, or chat with a friend and enjoy a light meal. The pastries were light and not too sweet...our drinks paired nicely...the staff are pretty relaxed and helpful too...we will definitely add this to our list of "go-to" Coffee shops/bakeries. WAAAY BETTER than any Starbucks....step up your coffee experience. read more
Came here while I was in town. I was hungry so I grabbed the lamb hash! I really enjoyed this meal the ground lamb was good. You couldn't tell it was lamb because it was cooked like ground beef, but what stood out for me was the contrast between the red skinned potatoes and the sweet potatoes! The sweet potatoes were really good and stood out in each bite! But the vibe in the establishment was really cool! It had a restaurant feel but a coffee shop vibe! Famous bakery with brunch and breakfast served all day Fridays and weekends. They have plenty of cute drinks as well as cute desserts too. I really like their matcha latte, it is a strong tea and the latte art is aesthetic. They have quiches that tend to be sold out and also shakshuka! Service is quite fast, you order at the counter first and they'll give you a number for your table. Ambiance is a good spot for having a meeting or just catching up with friends. The food was ok, but with food prices i'd go to a place and spend money where they want you and just didn't get that vibe here. maybe with social media they don't need us and i get that. it's cute if all you want is a photo. The ham and cheese croissant was so delicious. It had a little Dijon mustard that made it that much better. The chai latte was creamy too. I also enjoyed the chocolate mousse. The ambiance and vibe was so cute. Will be back when I'm DC. read more

4.5 stars TL;DR: Cute cafe vibes, lots of food and bakery options Came here to do a little work, and thankfully was able to find an open table. Luckily though, there was no line to order food. SERVICE: not very friendly or helpful (almost dismissive), but that's fine with me. Also, would be nice if they had an option to ask to heat up pastries FOOD: ~Lamb Meatball Shakshuka (5/5): This was SO GOOD. Flavorful sauce with a kick. Soothing white sauce to counter. Eggs were perfect. Meatballs were delicious and soft ~Prosciutto and Fig Panini (5/5): The fig jam is so good that I wanted to dunk the whole panini in it. And there is a ton of brie cheese. Flavor bomb ~Short rib grilled cheese (3.8/5): Short rib was soft and flavorful. But with that, the beet relish, and the type of bread they use, it gets soggy ~Monkey bread (2.5/5): bland ~Fruit Boat (3/5): fruit was so ripe and whipped cream was tasty. Tart box was okay ~Halva chocolate chunk cookie (4/5): Nutty, delicious, and chewy. However, the texture was a little too crumbly in spots Overall, really enjoyed our time here! Tatte is just the best... it's kinda hard to say anything else. You are definitely in for a treat when you visit here whether it's the bakery items, lunch, coffee, tea, merch, customer service, you name it.. Tatte's just got "it". They pass the vibe check every time! If you're a first timer I would recommend the chicken salad, the salmon burger, matcha lemonade, apple pie, or the yellow thingy in my review. If you are looking for gluten friendly pastries, this is your spot. However, if you are celiac, I'd say there is a high chance of cross contamination unless you come when they open their doors. This is my trick that has worked well over the years at various places. The gluten friendly rasberry tea cake and brownie with walnuts are my favorite. The honey halva latte with oatmilk is so good. It's super quiet when they first open, but insane for the lunch rush. I'll always return when in DC. read more
I went Ginger Date seasonal latte (delicious!!) and blueberry olive oil muffin (good but skippable). This location has good indoor and outdoor seating space, tables are tight together but plentiful and there's also some counter seats. Easy to walk to if you're in the area. read more
Wow! What a find! This bakery does it right! This bakery even serves breakfast or lunch. They have a seasonal menu in addition to their All Day, Brunch, Drink, and Gluten Free menus. I could not resist the urge to try three of their desserts and an Americano. The first thing I tried was their Pistachio Croissant. It was crispy on the outside, flaky moist on the inside with a pistachio cream and dusted with pistachios on top. Phenomenal! The next thing I tried was their Passion Fruit Krembo. This was a flavor bomb of a dreamy creamy dessert atop a graham cracker crust encased in an eye-popping passion fruit ganache. The third dessert I ate was a Blueberry Lemon Pavlova. This version had blueberries atop a meringue casing and filled with a lemony blueberry marshmallow like filling. Yes, I ate these in one sitting. I was on a sugar high for sure. My favorite was surprisingly the Croissant. It was perfection and it was the perfect accompaniment to my coffee! I wish I had more time in DC. I'd start my day here everyday! read more
Good coffee, iffy bakery It's kinda strange, the coffee (espresso, that is) is actually made with care and seemingly with love. It tastes....legit The baked goods, on the other hand, while looking awesome, are anything but. I had a pretty decent selection of croissants, cake slices and whatnot, and they were all...thawed. Or in one memorable case, straight up semi frozen Which is basically uncool when it comes to what is supposed to be a reputable bakery Ah well, maybe if you get stuff fresh it's better, but I got mine out of the case Anyhow, it's probably one of the better choices in the hood, but not really worth it on an absolute basis... read more

We stayed at the Arlo Hotel, and Tatte Bakery was just a short walk away--super convenient for a delicious breakfast! Our family of eight, including a 2-year-old, ordered a mix of breakfast sandwiches and pastries, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Their pastry selection is impressive, with a beautiful display by the register that makes it hard to choose just one. The ambiance is low-key and casual, which was perfect for our family, especially with a toddler. Seating is ample, but during peak times, it can be tough to find a table. Overall, a fantastic spot for breakfast or a quick pastry stop. We'd definitely come back next time we're in town! read more

Emma deserves a raise. The service was amazing. The food is delicious. I love love love this location. The food came out fast and the pastries taste fresh and homemade. Everyone, especially the manager was exceedingly kind to us. The dining area is well lit and the place is clean and they have great bathrooms and free ice cold water. But seriously EMMA is a wonderful young lady!!! Will be back it's no wonder this place is always a good amount of busy and has so many locations. read more

Whether it's in Boston or DC, you'll always catch me looking for the nearest Tatte. This location is busy and bustling-finding a table indoors might be hard. The line moves quick, however, and the servers and waitstaff are very efficient at their job. I got my usual- an Iced caramel almond milk latte, and tried something new, the shakshuka. This coffee shop and bakery is absolutely beautiful inside with a clean, modern aesthetic. We ordered a few bakery items, which were good, but honestly not the best I've ever had. We ordered the havla bomb (4/5) which was a chocolate shaped dome with havla inside (sesame paste). We also ordered the pistachio marmalade cake (4.5/5) which have nice flavor and paired well with the coffee. However we were very disappointed with the pain de chocolate (chocolate croissant) as it tasted stale and didn't seem to be freshly made (2/5). I would not order this again. Also, we ordered a drip coffee and they gave us a number and told us to sit down and they would deliver it to our table. I don’t think so i only saw people on their laptops inside.
How wheelchairs accessible is your business is it ADA compliance?
not accessible. they only offer stairs. you could sit outside on a nice day and have a friend go in and order for you but that's not making their business accessible.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
They are wheelchair accessible! They aren't street level but there is a lift there.
