It's not too spicy but has a good kick. If it's not spicy enough, they provide a plate of vegetables that includes jalapeños, sprouts, and lemon. We have been here before and our experience with the waitress was the worst so we avoided coming back. Fast forward, I really felt like having Pho and so glad we returned. Our waiter was pleasant and our food was delicious. Another female waitress was very friendly....the vibe was much better than our last experience. We came at 6 pm on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. We got seated quickly. We ordered pho, and also a bahn mi sandwich. I got the vegetarian one with tofu, it was good. I had to add some of the volcano sauce for flavor since it was a little dry and it made it a lot better. The pho was good and comes in a big bowl, also comes with toppings and sauces to add in it. It's nice that they have a Vietnamese restaurant in the morning with comfortable seating and modern decor. I would say the food was actually pretty good around 3 1/2 to 4 stars. It depends on what you were ordering. We tried the pho and eggrolls and they were both delicious. Their pho broth was a little on the sweet side, so if that's your preference then it would be great, but for me, I would tone down the sweetness just a little bit. I would say it's better to stick with the most common and popular dishes. I took a risk and ordered their bun rieu and my cousin ordered their bun Bo hue and they were both kind of bland. Stick with the common items! It's nice they had bathrooms in their own store so you wouldn't have to use the mall bathrooms, which could be a little unpleasant. Mama Pho's second location at Ala Moana has been around for some time, but I finally got to dine there with a friend last night. We were both running late and had trouble finding parking due to the holidays, but we were able to easily get a table once we got there. Mama Pho is family owned and they serve authentic Vietnamese food using their own family recipes. I like the layout of the restaurant. It's spacious, clean and there are both tables and booths available. The menu has many offerings, but is not overwhelming and easy to understand. We started with some drinks and spring rolls and my friend ordered the Grilled Pork and Spring Roll Vermicelli Bowl and I had the Brisket Pho. We both enjoyed our meals, especially the spring rolls. My pho was great and they were very generous with the brisket as I didn't come close to finishing it all. Next time, I may add extra noodles. When it gets cold you know it's time for some warm pho... Mama Pho has been on my radar in the convenience of Ala Moana Center why not enter the comfort zone of a steaming warm bowl of Pho. It always seem empty in this massive spot once occupied by Ruby Tuesday but it's beautifully decorated with a taxi cycle bike suspended above along with a Christmas tree and other decor is nice. I already knew coming in that I wanted Pho and my friend wanted a Bánh Mì and as we scanned the menu and wanted to get a starter noticed how pricey it is and mind you I never try to put it in to perspective but we decided to just have our entrees. My friend noticed they have a Vietnamese Taco Crepe which was fried crisp filled with lettuce, green onions, sprouts and pickled daikon & carrots just like a Bánh Mì which I though would be great since it wouldn't be a load of bread and it came with a choice of Chicken or Tofu, or Shrimp +$3. I got the Vegetarian Pho which has Mushrooms, carrots, Chinese cabbage & broccoli with all the standard Pho sides. I thoroughly enjoyed my pho it wasn't anything pho-nominal didn't stand out from any other place and my friends Taco Crepe was a great concept but a total fail in execution. Since the shell was fried it coated her hands with grease and fell apart completely in seconds that eating it deconstructed with chopsticks was the only way to go sadly. Don't get me wrong she enjoyed it but it was just a total hot mess and not sure if it's a great item to get if you're planning to leave grease free so they need to reconsider that shell. We did leave with a full and happy belly and I think we were seated right next to a service (POS) area as having someone literally inches from you constantly is just not that relaxing even with that we constantly had to flag down the staff for anything we needed. read more

This Mama Pho is located in Ala Moana Center on the 4th floor by Tanaka of Tokyo West. The interior has an upscale vibe with Vietnamese decor hanging from the ceiling. They have a full bar on the right as you enter for those of you who are thirsty. I came here with friends because my friend's wife, who is pregnant, wanted Vietnamese food and this restaurant was convenient for them. Since I've been to their Aina Haina location, I was familiar with their menu. Portions are similar to their original location and so are the flavors. That's good they are consistent. They did forget to give us the fresh veggies and we had to ask for them after sitting there for a few minutes expecting them to drop it off to our table. Too bad they don't offer culantro with the fresh veggies. Customer service at this location was friendly but they weren't super busy and had adequate staff. Of course, I ordered their Mama's Special Pho (number 17) with the rare steak on the side. It was exactly as I remembered it. Their Spicy Volcano sauce definitely added extra flavor to the bowl and I had some with each bite of meat. This restaurant is inside Ala Moana mall near the CPK and hibachi restaurant. My husband and I decided to dine here on our first night in Hawaii after a long plane ride. We were looking for something soothing to the soul and we definitely found it. The portions were large and the food was piping hot. The soup was flavorful and delicious. This bowl of pho was even better than the ones we can find back home. It was my first time eating from Mama Pho, I ordered the #4 lunch special, you gotta order your chicken flavored rice...don't let the orange color turn you off, I feel the "oranger" the color the better the flavor. It came in a plate with a touch of flavored tofu and a small salad and my own spring rolls. More food than I anticipated and every bit delicious. My wife ordered the spicy beef pho with egg noodles, don't forge the side of French bread to soak up all the soup. It was so good, not too spicy for my taste buds but the free garlic sauce and Sriracha can kick up the spice anti for sure. You have to order the Thai iced coffee, it was the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever tasted, sweet from the condescend milk but the espresso gave it the perfect balance and strength. The best part of the experience was the helpful service, especially with the suggestions. Ate at their other branches before, but not this one. Pleasantly surprised of its commodious inside complemented with attractive decorations. With all that said, this is definitely the best branch! There are mixed reviews on Yelp, but I truly believed this place deserves no less than four stars; have eaten in many Vietnamese restaurants in different locations, so I do familiar a little with most popular dishes. A couple side notes. I didn't like their "mobile" payment machine. It kind of put the customers on the spot on tips that started at 18% because the cashier is observing how much customers are tipping. I'm not sure if there was fresh oj on the menu but decided on water. The pork was very thin and the tofu wasn't delicious and I love almost all tofu. Good thing, the waitress put in an order for 4 spring rolls and not just 2. Normally, the pork chop platter is enough, but this pork chop was not enough for my husband. He didn't like the tofu so he ate all the rolls. My pho bowl was huge. There is only one size here. Normally, I order the small/regular. I haven't had pho for over a year. My family is not a fan so I loved this bowl. There was a nice gentleman who asked how we were doing and refilled our water so I added one star back to my review. I enjoy the large servings of thai basil, jalapeño and bean sprouts they serve with pho. I've been to pho restaurants in Northern California and they all lack a decent amount of thai basil. Due to the growing conditions in California, I thought they would have a lot of thai basil, but unfortunately that is not the case. 2) Quick & efficient service. 3) Lots of parking due to being at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Started off with drinks and 3 appetizers summer rolls, chicken wings, spring rolls.
