First time at The Toasted Owl Cafe. We arrived at 10:30 on a Saturday morning and it was 3/4 full…read more We were directed to a table in the center of the restaurant and given menus and water. They had a very unique menu at Toasted Owl, with many items cleverly named after the bodacious birds. My wife got the Three Tacos plate, my daughter got a gluten free blueberry pancake and soy chorizo, her husband got the Owl 66 and I got the 'Owlapeno Scramble'. The entire restaurant was decked out in owl decor, from the menus, clocks, glasses, wall decorations, cookie jars and trinkets, just to name a few. Everything in there was also available for purchase. Everything at the table was scrumptious in the most satisfying way. My scramble was so satisfying, with the cheese and pickled jalapeños and the three poppers on top. The breakfast potatoes were so savory, seasoned just right and the huge flour tortilla and salsa were all perfectly complimenting. We each ordered drinks that came in owl mason jars, which we bought for $2 each. What a hidden gem for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

The food and ice tea were good. I picked up a BLT with a clever Toasted Owl title, and took it home. I had a Club Sandwich. Would I bring Sweet D here for lunch? That is always the question. Yes I would. Would I schedule the Phoenix Cane and Walker Society Friday Luncheon here? The conversation would be a litany of "What? What? What?" if there were any amount of crowd in the main dining room. That will not fly.

I love the chill vibe and dog-friendly atmosphere that they create. Every location is unique in its own way. This North Phoenix OHSO has a Little O's market attached to it and sits along the Arizona Canal Trail bike path on Central Avenue. It is a convenient place to stop by if you are riding a bike or going for a run along the canal. I came here with a group of friends to celebrate some birthdays. It was my first visit to this OHSO location because I don't get to the Sunnyslope part of the Valley very often. OHSO & Little O's North Central has only been open for a couple of years and resides in an old historic building. It took them some time to renovate the place before they opened. OHSO makes their own beer and distills their own spirits. They also have a full food menu. The Little O's market has grab-in-go food and offers breakfast, donuts and coffee in the morning. We came here during the later part of summer. My Summertime cucumber vodka cocktail was the perfect drink for the hot summers that we have to endure here in AZ. The Ensalada Del Sol was my main entrée for the evening and was tasty. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing evening here at OHSO.

The blue cheese definitely stole the show, but the wings were delicious on their own, too. Next, hubby and I shared the Caesar salad, and it was fantastic! Salty Ramano, shredded romaine, and crispy, buttery garlic croutons. At $14, it's definitely a splurge for a salad, but it was a solid choice! For our entrée, we shared the Aviator pizza and added caramelized onions and jalapeños. The crust was super thin and crispy - just how we love it! Overall, it was a great choice, although it lacked a little flavor. I think some hot honey would be the perfect addition next time. We finished by sharing the peanut butter brookie with ala mode with the table. This one was just OK for me. There was hardly any peanut butter flavor, and it was a little too rich for my taste, although others at the table enjoyed it more. Overall, a great first visit, and we'd definitely come back to try their roast chicken options.

I wasn't sure which beer I wanted, so my server brought me samples of all four beers they had on draft, which was really nice and helped me decide. I also had the warm cookie with ice cream for dessert, and that was definitely a good choice. Overall, good food, friendly service, and a nice casual atmosphere.
