They had lots of cakes prepared in the case (strawberry, chocolate, chantilly, coffee, etc). The process was painless. I picked the cake I wanted, gave them the name I wanted written on the cake and left. The staff were friendly and helpful. They accept cash, cards and tap to pay. Very convenient. I think the bakery is really pretty and simple with their design. The whole store is basically shelves and shelves of different pastries! Lastly, it's very affordable. I thought all the prices were very reasonable for the items. The bad: so I, and my friends, tried a wide variety of the pastries, ranging from cookies, to filled items, and a few others, but unfortunately we just didn't enjoy them. We did go around 7pm so maybe some of the stuff we got weren't fresh and therefore not as good, but even then. Maybe I'll have to go back to give some more items a try read more

I am always on the lookout for panaderias in Indy since I love pan dulce. We have tried Mama Inez enough times where I could give it my honest review. You have to sanitize your hands when you enter (points for having hand sanitizer in many areas of the store). You must also wear a mask to enter (if you don't have a mask they have disposables for sale for $1). Then you get a tray and tongs and get to make your selections. There is lots of bread to choose from. Conchas, cuernos, cookies, donuts, etc. All very reasonably priced. Service is fast and most of the employees are friendly most of the time. There was a time we stopped for bread and my husband asked for some bread to be separated and placed in a smaller bag. The cashier was very inconvenienced by this and made it clearly known that she was going to charge us for the extra bag and that we should have told her from the beginning to seperate the bread. Um ok? Overall, I am very picky with my pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and Mama Inez is not bad, but it also isn't the best I've had. For me, if the bread is still soft the next day then thats a huge plus! Unfortunately that hasn't been the case with this shop. If I am in the area I will stop by but this isn't a place I would go out of my way to go to. read more

Found a hidden gem on south side of downtown. If you love Mexican pastries and fresh baked bread and cakes, this is the place for you! They had open glass cases of fresh baked pastries. Throughout the store. You had to sanitize your hands first before they will hand you a tray and tong to get your desired pastries. Prices were very reasonable. They even had fresh backed small baguette rolls -delicious! I had their tamales and can I say, they are very authentic and was only $3.50 for 4 large tamales! I will definitely be back!! read more

There are so many options! The baked goods were good and others were great. We had the churros, pastry with raisins, and croissant with chocolate filling. I was a little confused by the meringue "cookies" they were crispy on the outside but gooey on the inside. Not a fan. But pretty to look at. If you're in the area of W. Washington St., it's an option for a Mexican bakery. I like their tamales better than some of the other little stores that sell them. Their arroz con leche (rice pudding) in the fridge is creamy and loaded with cinnamon. They have a big selection of pan dulce that is very nicely displayed and easy to access. For me, the pan dulce is hit or miss. It just depends on what you like. I would prefer the filled pastries such as the empanadas to have more filling. I highly recommend doing a round and see what thry have before you start choosing or you can easily get way more than you can eat. They have everything from Conchas whuch are like a sweet bread to delectable tres Leche. My favorites are the little cheesecake like bars and the fruit filled pastries. The cheesecake is light and fluffy and AMAZING! You can also find bags of day old items all bagged up and ready to grab. They also do orders for whole cakes and will sometimes have them ready to purchase. Get a tres Leche cake for your next event and your guests will be thankful! read more

I couldn't believe no one review this place yet. I've been here twice for the past 10 days and it's just the kind of bakery I've been looking for. Not Paradise cafe bakery, not Panera's. They have a lot of baked stuff that's similar to Asian stuff, they have dougnuts covered with white sugar, Polo bun, buttered bun.. I'm simply guessing from the look, since all their labels are in Spanish. And for the two times I've been there, they were pretty busy with Hispanic customers and buying at least 7,8 buns or cakes when they checked out. I had the cinnamon roll with raisins and I liked it. It's similar to the one is Cinnabon but no icing, way less sugary and sweet. And the price range are around $ 0.75- $0.99. read more

Tip: Grab a big metal plate and some tongs when you come in, use the tongs yourself put pastry choices on the plate. The signs that tell you to do this are only in Spanish! This place used to be good. Bakery goods are good. Don't order a cake from here we ordered a cake 3 weeks in advance and we got there they had cake looking like the book but did not have the cake topper and figurines that went with the cake we ordered out of the book. And cake was supposed to be vanilla and Guava. It was some pink dry and hard cake and guava filling. They tried to say figurines and cake topper would be there at 3 pm . When we told them the party was at 1 pm 3 weeks in advance. They tried to get us to take some junk figurines they had .we asked if they had other Disney cake toppers. The answer was no we don't have that or that one. All which were in their book. So basically they didn't have any of the Disney cake toppers that were in your book . And we asked about at least 7 different ones. So basically they were lying about what kinda of cake they can deliver. they were like it's a baby she won't know. Really how embarrassing for us to present that to our guests. So we had to take the cake and go to Walmart bakery and ask if they had the cake topper that matched our cake. That lady did help us and we paid an extra 7.00 more. That's bad service. If you don't have the stuff to make the cake don't offer it. Just take the page out of the book. Or write not available across the page. Don't try anything to make a sell. They lie about their cakes. read more

I stopped in today to order my son's Birthday cake and above the place looking amazing inside, the lady working today was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a Tres Leches cake for my son, well more for me because that's my favorite cake, but anyhow they were able to put any design that we wanted on the cake. My son preferred the Paw Patrol design. Mi esposo enjoyed how the place was decorated and painted. The floor is amazing. I remember how the place looked when the pervious business was in the building. It was very cold. The decor in Mama Ines today is very welcoming and warm. I'm probably being hypercritical but this was one of the worst panaderia's I have ever been too! It looks like a typical Mexican bakery but unless you've actually been to one, you won't know the difference in quality. First of all the prices were astronomical and the pastries by far were subpar! I really do feel sorry for the people of Indianapolis that have been here and think its actually good! This is definitely a case of looks can be deceiving! My visit was unexpected, I had read about this place and was planing on going with my kids. I was in the area with my parents and we decided to stop and get some goodies. First impression when we walked in and got slapped in the face with that so pleasant aroma of fresh baked goods had my mouth water instantly. I got a few conchas some cheese cake, cookies, and some other bread with sugar and cinnamon. Before I left the store I had already taken a bite of two of the breads lol. My concha was hard not the greatest I've had. The one with cin and sug lacked flavor. And the cheese cake was a disappointment when I myself can whip up a no bake cheese cake that taste better. The place is very clean and the staff were friendly. Prices are a bit more than Guanajuatos bakery or Morelos bakery but not much. All in all the two stars was mostly on looks and the nicest cashier made me feel welcomed. Not so much on taste or location. I don't think I will be making a special trip just to buy here. I am willing to give them another shot come the warmer weather. They will have juice bar fresh made juice every day. read more
