Ube and pandan both were solid! what a fun great addition to this area. Flavors of the ensaymadas were ube, ube crème, salted egg, strawberry, guava, and a bunch more I couldn't remember. Option to warm it up. We had the salted egg. Big parking lot with shaded tables and chairs.

I've been wanting to check this out since they opened up in the neighborhood, but just haven't had a chance till now, & am glad we got to! Super excited to support a local API-OWNED independent business! Friendly & helpful staff greeted us! They also looked like they were having fun, which was a pleasant change! The menu is not super extensive but had a nice variety, with a good mix of food & drinks. I am hopeful more food items will be added as they establish themselves here, especially ethnically interesting foods! We had chicken Adobo bowls, which was not on their regular menu but part of an AAPI month promo. Yes, they should put it on their regular menu, tasty sauce! Also ordered pandan churros, which was different, and mini lumpias. My husband also ordered their Signature Malaya Latte, which he promptly chugged, before the food was out, lol. The seating area is an outdoor space, and they had music playing, so it had a relaxed and casual vibe. Good for small groups and hanging out. They even have free wifi! Think they have it pegged, being close to two middle schools, lol. Looking forward to checking out all the other menu items!! Excited to see how they will progress & hope they build a steady customer pool!

New cafe spot that serves coffee, matchas, pastries, and meals opened up in Arcadia! I've seen a lot of social media posts from Malaya on social media and decided to stop by and try it! Their location has tons of parking available on the street and in the lot. I stopped by on Thursday 30 minutes from closing (oops) and they still had a few people ordering! They have a beautifully painted mural on the side of the ordering window and plenty of outdoor seating available to enjoy your food and drinks. The person that took our order was very nice and gave us recommendations on what to get since it was our first time here. Food ($15.75): Queso Ensaymada (8/10): This was my first time ever having an ensaymada and wow, need it again. It's a soft, freshly baked brioche bun with melted cheese and a sweet white sauce on top. It was peel-able and warm! The saltiness of the cheese helped added a nice touch to the sweetness of the bun and the sauce (?) that was drizzled on top. Plain Matcha Latte (6/10): This one was honestly my fault... I read through multiple reviews from other people saying that the sweetness of the matcha could be balanced out by the cream top (it did not). The person taking my order did warn me that the plain matcha had no sweeter. It was still drinkable but wasn't as enjoyable as I prefer matcha lattes to be. The cream top is an extra 75 cent add-on.

Filipino coffee and brunch eatery that took over the old Bentoya and Flavor Fusion location on 1st Ave. ample parking. The food begins at 10am, which lines especially on weekends will develop. But for good reason, as it's quite tasty! We enjoyed their Spam Breakfast Sando, which had a nice spicy kick with their Chili crunch aoli sauce. The Lumpia was pretty standard but had a nice dipping sauce with it. The other standout was their Ensaymada (like the Spanish sweet bread with buttery topping). It was a very good small bread pastry, however just pricey considering it was $6.50 each. Tried their original, but they also have many other flavors (ex Guava and Red Velvet, etc) Their coffee was nice, but not as much of a standout as their food. Their Malaya signature was flavorful, as well as their Caramel Banana latte. Both ran quite sweet despite asking for less sweetness. Overall will be back. Nice addition of drink/food options in downtown Arcadia.

I heard about Malaya Coffee's opening in Arcadia and I was super excited to finally see a Filipino-owned business in the area! They are located in the downtown area, with plenty of parking and an outdoor patio. I am hoping that more businesses could open here in the future so this area would thrive and be a hangout spot in the future. You would order your food from their kiosk and stay if you would like in one of the tables to eat your food. I ordered their Malaya coffee special and banana coffee. I personally thought that their coffee could be stronger in caffeine. The prices felt a little too high for me. I did not get to try their food so I definitely need to come back. The ambiance was nice and I could imagine myself studying here but I don't see any plugs or WiFi provided. Other than that, the space is quiet and a great addition to the community!

It was good for a coffee based drink spot. The staff was friendly although it was really busy during the soft opening. The ube based espresso drink was actually quite tasty. Wish the prices were a little lower. Also didn't know why tax is charged, esp when it's not required.

I was really excited to try this place out and support a Filipino small business This is 10 min from my dentist and I got there around 11:30am on a Tuesday. It was surprisingly busy. I ordered the Malaya signature which had good flavor but given how small the drink was and came out to $8+ I don't think I'll be rushing to come back.

A great spot for coffee, a bite, and to do work/study. The outdoor seating is a nice touch, and there's no shortage of outlets, a huge plus if you're staying a while. The caramel banana latte was well-balanced blend of sweet and bitter.

This new Filipino café has taken over the former Flavor Fusion space, and I love how they've brightened it up with lively Hawaiian flower murals. I stopped by for a drink after a Lagree class nearby. They were pretty busy, so it took a while before someone took my order, but the cashier was very kind and friendly once she helped me. I ordered a pandan latte with oat milk, which came out to $8.84 after tax, definitely on the pricier side for a small drink. The espresso itself was rich and flavorful, but I couldn't taste any pandan at all. By the time I realized it, I had already walked a couple of blocks back to my car, but it did make me wonder if pandan flavoring was forgotten. Overall, I'd give it three stars mainly due to the lack of pandan flavor and the price point.

    Strawberry Matcha with cream top

Another great addition to SGV! Malaya has a small parking lot or there are lots of street parking. You order outside through the window. There is no interior seating but they do have a nice shaded outdoor seating with an amazing R&B playlist. To my surprise, there are electrical outlets all around to charge your devices. I ordered their strawberry matcha and added the cream top for 75 cents. The total for this drink was around $9. This is probably one of the most enjoyable strawberry matchas I ever had. They use real strawberry puree and it's not artificial tasting at all. From my opinion, I wouldn't get the cream top next time since it's hard to mix it with the plastic straw as it bends. The lid isn't the one where you can sip from. The matcha is whisked well, no clumps. The drink is also creamy. It did take awhile for them to prepare but staff were friendly, kind and apologized for the wait. So do expect to wait at least 10 min for your order.

This coffee shop have plenty of parking. When we arrived, there was a long line, but it moved steadily. I ordered the pandan latte and waited about 10 minutes for my drink. The guy taking orders was super friendly and even started a little conversation with us. The coffee is $7.50 for one size. I really liked the décor and aesthetic. There's a Hawaiian‑inspired theme with plumeria flower artwork. There are a few benches outside where you can sit and enjoy your drink. The pandan latte itself was creamy, but I wish it had a stronger pandan flavor. I mostly tasted the coffee rather than the pandan.

Great spot! Repurposed drive-in selling specialty drinks and snacks. The folks here are warm and welcoming, and I really enjoyed the shaded seating area. I ordered a decaf ube cream latte and churros. My friend had a matcha and guava ensaymada (guava was Arcadia exclusive). Unfortunately, they were out of churros, but I was offered a free melona bar, and happily accepted. I will note that most of the seating area was made up of backless stools, but we were able to snag 2/4 chairs with back support. I love me a supported back! Everything we had was delicious, and I look forward to returning for another iced bevy and churros. Thank you, Malaya Arcadia!

This is a small Market that has a little bit of everything that you're looking for from Southeast Asia. It's like a 7-Eleven, Filipino style. It's fun to look at the various items available here. You will always end up with more than just what you were looking for. I enjoy the cracker nuts, dried mangoes, and specialty dried items. Their selection of items is always changing so I like to look at what's new and on display. I will sometimes ask the front counter what just came in. The Fresh Deli, located up a small incline to the left as you enter the market, is spectacular. The flavor of the food permeates the entrance to the market. They have an incredible selection of fresh made food. It is difficult to make a decision between the different items. I asked for some help from the gentleman behind the counter. I've dealt with Christian, Gabriel and Abraham and all three are knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to explain how some of the food was prepared and the special attention that was given to each individual item. I wanted to limit myself to two items. I decided on the special marinated Beef Caldereta and the Lechon Kawali. On another trip I decided to try the Pork Tochino and the Barbecue Chicken Skewers. I can't tell you how happy I am with the flavors of the food from the deli. Everything was done to perfection. The Chicken skewers were tender and moist with a great barbecue flavor. The Toccino had a nice marinade flavor and was not too sweet. The Lechon was tender and had enough fat to give it a great flavor and texture. I have to admit the Caldereta was my favorite. Great taste, texture, and just the right spices to give it a little kick. The rice and noodles were a perfect accompaniment. All the sauces I was given added to the flavor of all the dishes. At the cash register at the front counter I paid for my items and asked about other items coming in in the near future. I found out that they are not always sure what's going to become available but always looking for something that will make their customers happy. This is truly a family establishment. I found out that everybody there is related. They definitely give exceptional service and quality merchandise, and delicious food. I look forward to coming back and trying many other items both in their market area as well as the Deli.

The parking lot had an interesting shape but it wasn't hard for us to find parking. We were seated quickly and we ordered a variety of foods. I had the Crispy Pares, my partner got the the Beef Pares and my in-laws split the Lechon and Sisig. We also tried their Calamansi and Mango juices and a Halo Halo for dessert. Overall, it wasn't bad but nothing here really stood out to me. If I'm honest, the home cooking of my in-laws (who are Filipino from the Philippines) tastes better. For me, the beef broth was super oily and the garlic rice smelled like garlic but didn't taste like anything. The crispy pork was both super crunchy (which I like) but also tough (the meat that is). I don't try the Sisig but I could hear my MIL muttering in Tagalog and I'm pretty sure thy were not kind words about the Sisig's flavor. Maybe the best items would have been in the overload upgrade but none of us were starving that we felt the need to try it out. Maybe next time? The juices were good though but the Halo Halo was a bit sad. It was like 92% ice cream, 4% rice crispy and corn flakes on top, 3% shaved ice, and 1% "other." I don't recall seeing any jellies, beans or fruit (though my partner said he saw ONE jelly. Last, I recognize this is a small family business and I support small businesses but as we say there eating, a few other tables exited and none of their tables were ever cleaned. It didn't really affect us but I was surprised that the staff was just chatting and on their phones for about 20 minutes and not bussing or clearing tables. It was slow at the time (as we were the last diners) but it was also kind of gross and as we were on our way out, I saw another group enter.

For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

It's pretty impressive how these folks are able to squeeze all this food in this tiny little restaurant. Decided to go with the dish that everyone who has been to Hawaii has eaten at some point: the loco moco. I thought it might be a good way to gauge how authentic their food is. Ordered a side of Portuguese sausage musubi as well. Yeah, I'm a pig. Loco Moco - 5/10: so yeah. This definitely isn't your traditional loco moco, or at least the dish that I grew up eating (808 born and raised). Two patties, mounds of rice, eggs (unfortunately served over hard...should always be over easy so the yolk comes out) side mac salad - check, check, check and check. But then they bury on the bottom of this dish a bunch of stir-fried veggies, which threw me off a bit. This dish ain't supposed to be somewhat healthy. And then they throw a very light brown sauce on it that definitely isn't gravy. More like a brown sauce you'd mix in with pan-fried noodles. Yeah, just not the way this dish is supposed to made. But at least they give you a lot of it! - Portuguese Spam Musubi - 7.5/10: this one was much better. All the elements were there, and yes, they used Portuguese sausages. Hard to screw up musubi, but believe me, it can be done. Two pieces come in an order and they're on the larger side. So yeah, a little disappointed. I will say though that if I'm in the area again, I might order some dim sum. Happy feasting!

It's a large-ish space, and I guess kind of like a sit-down place (not "turo-turo/cafeteria style like some Filipino joints), with a ton of Filipino snacks on the counter. Plenty of seats that have seen better days. A portion of the restaurant is covered in plastic to house some construction equipment ? I asked for the pork sisig ala carte and decided to add an order of kalderetang kambing and 2c of rice. Big mistake buying more than one entree when you are taking it home and have no clue how their food tastes. I trusted Yelp too much. . Sisig had a 1:1 ratio of meat to bell peppers. I also couldn't help but feel lile the peppers were undercooked, even raw. Maybe that was their style, but I also disliked the mayo on top. Now the kalderetang kambing had a strange fishy (gamey) smell in the car. When I tried it at home, the meat looked so red and tasted way too sweet, not at all like the Kalderetas I'm used to back home. The meat was falling off the bone soft though. This is my problem with Filipino restaurants in the US - if they can't make dishes better tasting than what I make at home (i rarely cook but im a good eater), I cannot rate them high at all. I've eaten too much Filipino food in my life to know what tastes good. I feel bad because the folks who work here/(owners?) are pretty nice and they were working on Valentines. But the current rating they have is misleading. If you're going for the big entrees like I did, and are used to Gerry's Grill type sisig, prepare to be disappointed. Yelp, you did not come thru for me this time.

Really happy to have a spot like this around. I've tried a few different things here and the food…read morehas been consistently satisfying. The Tapsilog was very good. The beef was flavorful and paired perfectly with the garlic rice and eggs. I also ordered the Lumpiang Shanghai, which came out hot and crispy and was honestly one of my favorite things on the table. On another visit I tried the Pansit Canton and Pinakbet with Bagnet, and both tasted comforting and home-style. Portions felt fair and the food tasted freshly made. One thing I'm hoping to see in the future is more Filipino desserts added to the menu. Things like Halo Halo, Taho, or other traditional sweets would be amazing, especially after a savory meal. Looking forward to coming back and seeing how the menu grows.

The amount was filling, was able to split it between myself and my wife. The Longanisa had flavor but tasted different from the type I usually buy from the market. It definitely had less oil than what I'm used to which could be a good thing. The tapsilog (steak) was tasty, cooked well and had a good amount of flavor. The ambiance is that the seating is shared amongst the establishments in Blossom Market Hall. Sometimes there's a live band. There's also a water dispenser to the left of this food stand if you wanted to get your own water.

This is long overdue. Draft needed to be shared hehe. Been…read morehere several times now and it's always delicious and made with attention to detail. Eduardo the owner is ALWAYS very attentive and full of joy to serve us. He checks on us to make sure everything is ok with our orders. Kiren the other owner has been awesome too, since our first visit. She was concerned my daughter wasn't eating. Also, always checking in on us. She remembered us the second time we came and asked if my daughter if she was doing better because the first time we were there she had morning sickness so she couldn't enjoy her food. I love finding hidden GEMS, especially Mexican restaurants, with real Mexican food!! What can I say ?! We love it ! Five times here. No regrets. Always good. Food is delicious! Service is AWESOME! Always so friendly, warm, & helpful since the first time we found them. . :D Can't believe it took me so long to find this hidden gem living nearby and around here all the time. How did I find it ?? Well, how do I, and we all, find all my / our favorite restaurants? I Yelped of course !!! :D I was in the area looking for a good place to eat. I yelped Mexican food and TA DA ! I would have never found it, since it's sort of hidden in an area less traveled, in the shopping center across from the West Covina Mall, behind sushiholics & The Bundt place. Same center where Panera is & Sushiholics, except it's on the back side street, on California Ave. I would have never walked over there, on the backside of the shopping center. Just happy to have found it now! Besides GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD ! We are suckers for birria. So 1st time here we had birria chilaquiles with over medium eggs plate, quesabirria, and ramen birria hehe ! YUMMM Yes, it was good, a little spicy for me, but good. I always have to clarify how I want my eggs at restaurants because believe it or not some cooks don't understand that over medium means soft yolks. They sometimes bring me over hard and that's not what I ordered. Over medium eggs have to be just right! No runny whites and no hard yolk. I explained that to Eduardo when ordering because I didn't want hard or soft; runny & gooey whites ewww. So I'm always very specific. Eduardo said no problem, if we don't get them right we can remake them for you. :D Woohooo ! They were perfect! Not many places get it right the first time, so they always remake them, but not here ! PERFECTION !! Thank you Eduardo!! I was happy ! Can't forget about the coffee!!! Oooh coffee! We love coffee so when the owner told us iced coffee ! Whoa ! Our eyes lit up ! YESSSSS please! It was good as well and when she saw we had finished it, she offered us a free refill. Thank you my new friend! You're the best !!! You made our day !!! We were like we're coming back !!! 2nd time, I had bulgogi breakfast bowl with over medium eggs ! I love eggs with beef ! Who doesn't ?! lol Eggs were perfect ! Beef was perfect too ! My grandson ate all my bulgogi though lol! I guess he liked it too. 3rd time on Friday 7/25/25 Eduardo always very cheerful & welcoming :) I ordered the chicken salad lunch, daughter ordered the green pozole! She's a sucker for green pozole hehe. I loved my salad! It was perfect! The chicken was perfect, pulled pieces with a green dressing that was whoa soooo YUMMMM ! This is making me hungry now. Daughter said pozole was good too Of course we will be back !! Need to try to yellow curry ! Next couple times had to order some previously had dishes like Birria ramen, tacos, pozole and chicken salad. Eduardo also accommodated my grandson, as he loves chicken but we get him grilled chicken. So he made a kids version of the chicken salad and it was just perfect and delicious too. PS good spot for kids too. They have a Foosball table ! So when they get antsy, they can go play! Kids love it and play every time. Great thinking! Thank you for this addition to your restaurant ! It's a plus for us with little ones because it helps with their impatience. This is GOLD !! Thank you Eduardo and Kiren ! We will be back next time we're looking for yummy Mexican food or are nearby. Have you tried ? Let me know if you stop by. I'd love to know what was your favorite dish. Happy eating & happy Yelping ! SYOY or IG ;) PS Support small family owned pro American businesses. I ordered cafe de olla, which was delicious, my son an ice coffee, and my guy a regular coffee. Service was great, food was good but this time the plate was loaded. My guy didn't care for his chicharron plate, he said "the sauce was tangy, soury tasting." He didn't send it back, but he ate the beans and potatoes, the tortillas were like quesadillas, which he was shocked because he thought it was just tortillas, what a nice surprise. My son had the same as me, and his plate was almost empty. I tapped out because the serving was huge, I was satisfied. The service was a 5+, the ambience was another 5+ but a 4 for the chicharron plate. Maybe it was slightly off. Will definitely come back again..
