All I can say is WOW!! If possible, I would give them 10 stars. It all started with a disappointing no show by one of their competitors. I call Logan at Johnny the Movers. Avery, Tillis, and DM showed up as agreed. When they arrived, they asked questions, followed Covid guidelines and expressed aloha at all times. My inter-island move was a little different as I was shipping my stuff via Kamaka Air Cargo. This presented no problem for them. They appropriately wrapped and packaged everything. Once we got to Kamaka, they helped me and the air freight company secure everything for transport. All of this was done in the heat of the day with smiles, and laugher. This company was formally known as "Johnny The Mover" and they did a great job when we moved from Date Street to Manoa. However this post is for our move from Manoa to Ewa Beach. Logan was really informative about the cost. Even though the cost was higher than some, I felt comfortable to say yes to them again because of our past experience. Three man crew. Cost $190 an hour with three hour minimum. Plus a one time fee $55. The two main guys were really nice and they quickly moved our stuff. Now this is when things turned weird. I looked out my window and saw another guy rearranging the back of the truck. He was putting something on another and couldn't reach and he stepped on a shelf that holds our cat litter box and cat supplies and the shelf broke. I waited a little to see if someone was going to say something. However no one didn't until I said something. I didn't say anything else until later. The move went quick. Some of the workers saw my weights set and opened it to see what it looked like. Without my permission but I was ok. They quickly got to the next apartment and unloaded quickly. They tried to fix the cat shelf but it didn't look good at all. The lead was about to charge me for the full amount with no offer of a discount. I had to ask for it and they only offered $40 off to a $150 shelf. A couple days later we set up one of our big TVs and found when we turned it out the picture looked shattered. Didn't get to take a picture because husband was quick to throw it out. However attaching pic of the cat shelf box. Called Malama Moving to let them know. Three stars were given because of quickness to move everything within the three hour period, but two stars taken for the two broken items and what we felt was hiding the damage. We took a chance a second time but not sure about a third. We will see.. read more

Moving is one of those life experiences that is so dreadful, but you put up with it because it must get done. Now when you add in the added factor of moving from a 3-story walk up...TOTAL AGONY! There was no way I was going to do that moving myself. After asking around, Johnny the Mover seemed like the best option. What caught my attention the most was the fact that they only charge you from when they arrive to your unit and complete the job at your new location. Other companies will start charging you from when they leave their home base. They haven't even started doing any moving for you yet, but they are charging you. That made no sense to me. Johnny the Mover charges you strictly for the time that they are actually doing the work for you. Johnny the Mover requires you to have a 2 hour minimum, but I knew that would be no problem for me because it would take a bulk of the time moving my things down from the 3-story walk up. They offer to shrink wrap your furniture with just a one time fee of $20. You don't pay until the job is done. They take cash, check, credit card, or American Express. However, know that there will be an extra fee if you use a card. I didn't know that until I was about to pay them that day. Luckily, my friend who was helping me to move had cash on hand so I didn't have to pay an extra fee. As for their work, these guys work hard to get the job done. I heard that I was actually supposed to have another team, but they got stuck at another job, so these guys (Koa, Kainoa, Kona) took on my job since they were already done with their other jobs for the day. If you're not one who likes people coming into your home with their shoes on, you may want to say something to them before they come in. They just walk in and out with their shoes. I didn't really care because my previous unit still needed to be cleaned and I planned to just clean the floor in my new unit after they left. Major props to these guys for fixing my dining table. Some of the legs came off (which they said was due to poor construction when it was made), so they grabbed some nails and a drill from their truck to secure it for longevity. I was very appreciative to them for doing this for me. So while most of my comments have been positive, why only 4 stars you ask? Well, I did pay the extra $20 for the shrink wrap to protect my furniture from being damaged, but my things still had damage. One of the legs on my couch was scratched. The mattress for my bed had a big, black handprint left on it. When I asked the guys if they knew what it was from, they just joked that it was one of their pawprints. I asked if they had something that could take it out, but they said I would need to purchase some kind of furniture cleaner to get it out. I was a little upset by that because I did have to go out to purchase a product to get it out. Overall, I would go with these guys again, though. They work hard, are affordable, and the workers are friendly. Save yourself and your friends/family the time and effort by just hiring these guys to do the work for you. read more

I had to move a two bedroom unit from Liliha area into a one bedroom unit in Waikiki. I reached out to Malama Movers and they responded with a good quote. I reached out to others and Malama was less expensive and offered 2 movers. When they arrived, it was professionalism from start to finish. They wrapped things to ensure nothing got damaged and was very helpful during the entire move. The guys that moved my things were Logan, Sefa and Avery. I can't say enough about these guys. They were super friendly and always attentive to my needs and the protection of my items. My next move, when it happens, will for sure involve Malama and these three great guys. DO NOT USE THIS-COMPANY. I have used Johhny in the past but this last experience was the worst possible. I was quoted a price for 3 men, only two arrived. I was called by one of the men from his company and he was angry because he was to pick up a new refrigerator from Costco and I wasn't there. Johnny gave him the wrong Costco, after listening to this guy rant, he said he would drive from Mililani to the correct Costco in Kapolei. He arrived, he was in a rage and yelling and using the 'F' so loudly the manager of Costco came outside and said he would have to leave or he would call the police. After loading the refrigerator (by the Costco crew) the 2 guys came to my house, with no moving dolly, no tools, nothing! They asked me if I had a dolly and tools. I made arrangements with Johhny for the installation of the refrigerator and paid him in advance. These 2 guys disconnected the water line and the kitchen began to flood. He just stood there and told me to get some towels. Long story short, they got crazy and were cussing and then left, Leaving the old refrigerator on my side walk, packing all over the yard and a flooded kitchen! I had to call an emergency plumber at a cost of close to $600. When I called Johhny he said he would reimburse me for half the cost of the plumber. This was over 2 months ago, Johhny now won't answer my calls and has answered my texts with smart ass answers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY You will be very unhappy and left with a mess!! read more

These guys are the best! I worked with them on an apartment move which was on a very tricky hill and crazy stairs up whilemena rise. They were so fast and efficient and the entire crew were very nice and SUPER professional. Absolutely ZERO damages to anything despite the treacherous maneuvers they had to go through to get stuff up to the truck. (Bed couch dressers and all kinds of heavy stuff) Just worked with them again doing an engineering office move that had about 20 years of stuff to get packed and organized into the new office, (sooooo much stuff) these guys got it done in two short days! Everyone put all the boxes exactly where we wanted things to go in the new office and AGAIN... ZERO damage to any of our stuff AND AGAIN with a super friendly professional efficent staff. Moving is such a pain. It can be a stressful thing, however using Johnny The Mover, really made things much easier and efficient. I initially made the call, made a reservation to move some furniture, and the response was very easy and fast. I also had to coordinate with our building management to get approval for loading dock, and elevator use. I believe I spoke with Marcus and his quick response made the approval time fast. Haven't done review in a while but wanted to get the word out on these guys. My son's girlfriend had recently hired them to move over her heavy dressers from Pearl City to Kaneohe. There's a two hour minimum and it doesn't matter how many items you have, as long as it fits in their huge truck. If you go over the two hours, there's a reduced rate for additional hour(s) and they will even prorate if you don't use the full additional hours. So I decided to jump on that order. Now, they had to go to Pearl City then to Temple Valley then to Kaneohe. They moved 2 heavy dressers, a mirror, 3 large screen TVs, 4 mattresses and a washing machine. They were very detailed when packing the items and handled everything with care. They wrapped everything in saran and our TVs in a thick protective fabric. Supervisor Kona, along with his crew (Eric & MJ), were very professional and most importantly, they were efficient! Even with the extra stop and the many additional items, they clocked in at 1 hour and 55 minutes! They could have easily milked it for more time, but they didn't. They were in and out as fast as they could while handling our belongings with special care. If you've got lots of stuff to move, give Johnny the Mover a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

We had a list of about 5 movers to call on Oahu. The first was Johnny the Mover. Marcus answered the phone and walked us through the process and pricing. He was so friendly and professional that we didn't even bother calling the other movers on the list. On moving day, Kona, Shawn and DM showed up exactly on time. They all got out and introduced themselves with a handshake and smile, then got right to work. They are all pleasant guys with super positive attitudes -- cracking hilarious jokes all day, too -- who really know how to HUSTLE. Everything went better than we anticipated. Kono is a genius in both the packing of the truck and the unloading of truck into our storage unit. Our possession are now packed and stacked with precision, including the items we asked to be placed towards the front of the storage for easy access. The most dreaded part of our move is now over and we feel beyond relieved that we hired these amazing professional movers. The time went over 1 hour what I had budgeted in my head but what I paid in the end was worth every penny.
