I saw lots of people eating at this place. Most of the tables were occupied. Their pastries aren't too sweet; just the way I like them. Alexander's Patisserie across the street was a bit sweeter but better decorated and presentable. I gave this place a 4 because of my wait time. I stood 1st in line there for a while, then, was ignored for service. Good thing the guy behind me who just arrived told the cashier that I was there before him. I have my doubts about returning though due to the service. read more

I have died and gone to patisserie heaven. This place is amazing. It's kinda pricey but this guilty pleasure is worth it! The pastries are so beautifully decorated and they are amazingly delicious. This spot never disappoints when it comes to desserts! I've visited many times with family and friends, and everyone I've brought here has loved it. Personally, I prefer this place over the one across the street--the desserts here feel fresher, more indulgent, and far more tempting. They also have a nice selection of teas, which pair perfectly with the sweets. It's always a reliable choice for a treat! There are a lot of tables outside and indoors. Run not walk to Maison Alyzee since they have the most amazing Apple and pumpkin pie. I had seen this seasonal item in both this location and their Burlingame location, and it is always the first thing to be sold out. The crème they put on top perfectly complements the taste of apple, and pies are in perfect size to enjoy this fall desert. I wish they would do other seasonal pies in spring or summer. read more

Sadness... I had such high hopes for this place given the name of the restaurant and hearing they brought in french pastry chefs. Wonder if they also brought in the Parisian service concept as well? For some reason when we went in - they had two people behind the counter - they both saw us - neither acknowledged us while we browed the choices. Had to go up to the register and wait till ONE of them FINALLY acknowledged us and asked if we needed help. NO DUH! Why do you think we are there? Anyway - we then had to walk her back to the FRONT of the food case to show her what we wanted. We got their plain croissant, almond croissant and kouign amann. We also got the mini pies - the pecan, pumpkin and apple (this was before Thanksgiving so it was the seasonal pies). First let me start by saying - the croissants were very UNDERWHELMING. They were not memorable and we've definitely had better! Their kouign amann I realized after if flipped the other way looks like your typical kouign amann but they had a sticky sugary goo on the bottom hence it was provided up side down. That goo was awful. Too sweet, too sticky. It think it was to make up for the lack of buttery flakiness that kouign amanns usually have. Where they made up on stars was their little pies though their pricing deducted a star. Their pies were delicious. The pumpkin pie was light and while my hubby LOVES pumpkin pie and I the pecan - I have to say I loved the pumpkin at this place. Their pecan was typical - the crust was really good but I have to ask - was it work $11? And the pumpkin and apple were $12 each. Apple was good - so overall all their pies were pretty good but $35 for three little pies? They were good but that's a bit steep... And of course the lack of service really soured us. Especially when we were leaving they warmly greeted and walked up the customers that just entered. Not making a judgement call but am wondering if hubby and I were not of their "standard" or "clientele"? read more

Maison Alyzee offers a variety of desserts and pastries which I truly enjoyed. While it's a little steep on their price point (starting $10 and up), but I could tell they used quality ingredients. I mostly enjoyed their desserts because they weren't overly sweet, and had the right balance. Their mango dessert was filled with mango chunks inside, a mix of sweetness and tartness. The caramel hazelnut "cake" was also delicious. The wafer added a crunchy texture, making the dessert even better. read more

Had their Parisian sandwich today. Enjoyed the relaxing ambiance inside and the sandwich was pretty tasty with butter, ham, and cheese. It came with a salad which was also nicely dressed. The service was also really great. We were a bit indecisive but the staff were patient with us and gave my daughter a free macaron. Will definitely be back! read more

This used to be one of my favorite patisseries, but the service has really slipped and honestly, it shows now that I don't see the owner around anymore.. I ordered an Omelette Parisienne without ham, repeated it three times, and confirmed with the server. The dish arrives, I take two bites, and there are pieces of ham inside. I'm pregnant, I've stopped eating meat, and I also have an allergy to ham. This isn't a small mistake, it's the kind of carelessness that can seriously harm someone. For a place that prides itself on quality, this was a huge disappointment and a real safety concern. read more

- located on castro street (blocked off road with lots of restaurants) - classy/french inspired interior and outdoor seating - order your pastries at the counter and take them to go or take a seat - usually has a small line, but moves quickly since service is fast - 100% pistachio (5/5): no wonder they named this 100% pistachio because the pistachio flavor in this is insane. there's definitely no artificial flavoring and it tastes more like a pistachio than a pistachio does! the textures of the mousse and chocolate and pistachio butter blend together really well, and i would definitely come back just to get this pastry - strawberry basil pavlova: can't really give this a fair rating since i found out i don't like pavlovas lol. the cream was super soft and fluffy, but tasted like i was eating a basil leaf. definitely overpowered the strawberry - pink lady (3/5): earl grey chantilly and fruit compote paired well together, though i wish there was more chantilly. the choux was also pretty soft - harmony (4/5): super decadent, and the praline added a really nice crunch - i love pastries, and especially pretty pastries so i would come back haha! they are definitely on the pricey side as they typically are at patisseries, but they have a good combo of classic pastries and more interesting flavor combinations read more

I ordered a lunar new year cake from here and was really looking forward to it. The flavor sounded great. Unfortunately, I received the cake cracked. Forgivable if it tasted good. However, it was horrifically sweet, so much so that each bite felt diabetes inducing. :( I brought it to a family gathering and was super disappointed. Everyone thought it was way too sweet and it was hard to eat more than a few bites without it feeling cloyingly sweet. There managed to be zero tea flavor and yet I found a full curled up black tea leaf inside the mousse portion... The peach part just tasted like pure sugar. Total waste of $65, absolutely never coming back here. read more

Love the concept of this place! Reminds me a lot of Mademoiselle Colette for the pastries and coffee menu and Alexander's Patisserie for the cakes, but then somehow felt a little Paris Baguette-y to me. Almond croissant: felt like it had been out all day before reaching me. Not the best almond croissant, but a decent one. Nothing notable here. Chocolate cake slice: this was amazing! It had chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, a small layer of crunch. The description online is different than the description in the store though. I thought the textures and the flavors were perfect, and this was a heavier dessert but I didn't feel like it was overly sweet, and it didn't make me feel gross after eating it. Hazelnut hot chocolate: I missed the memo. It doesn't indicate anywhere that this is EUROPEAN hot chocolate, which is a very thick, almost solid (very viscous) texture. It was like warmed Nutella, both in consistency and in flavor. For $7, I wish I had a heads up that it wouldn't be the milky, runny, liquidy version. Oh well. Maybe a sign would help curb expectations or possibly inspire more people to try the drink. read more

Yes, it's quite pricey, but everything we've had here has been impeccably prepared, looked beautiful, and has tasted wonderful. So we don't view this as overpriced, but priced to a very high standard of quality. If the pricing is fine with you, enjoy as often as you like. If it seems high and doesn't quite fit your budget, then treat yourself from time to time and enjoy the indulgence. Either way, I think it's good to have choices all along the price and quality spectrum, and this happens to be on the pricier side. read more

Okay! For all you almond croissant connoisseurs, Maison Alyzee needs to be on your must-visit list. Comparison: Almond croissants are my go to pastry. I've eaten hundreds, if not thousands, for research purposes. This almond croissant crushes the famous Bouchon Bakery in Napa/Yountville and my local bakery Upper Crust in Davis should be embarrassed. The almond croissant was flaky. It was almondy. It had so many layers. And the unique thing that's worth the visit and separates this from all others ... it was buttery. Usually the buttery thing is reserved for plain croissants, but not here. Absolutely delicious. 5 stars! Can't wait to come back. read more

We proceeded to order the charcuterie and french onion soup for appetizers and the duck breast and french burger for entrees. The soup came and it was fine- it tasted like french onion soup. The charcuterie never came; I guess they forgot to put the order in or forgot to make it. It was awkward just sitting there starving while my husband ate his soup though. We figured maybe they were bringing it after he finished the soup so there'd be room on the table but nope. The burger looked nice and was cooked to the ordered temp of medium rare. Otherwise it was like any other burger anywhere else, not overly special. The fries were crisp and well salted. The duck was underwhelming. It's $38 for this plate of food and it came with totally flavorless and dry mashed potatoes, whose texture was akin to boxed potatoes. No butter or cream flavor to speak of. The vegetables were so disappointing. They had no seasoning whatsoever and were as soft as baby food- I am not exaggerating on that. I was surprised by how mushy the carrots were. For almost $40 I expect more exciting veg than broccoli, cauliflower and carrots all steamed to death. The duck was okay. There was a large tendon running through the middle of every piece and I could only eat half of it due to gristly fat. The port wine reduction that covered it totally masked the flavor of the duck. All I tasted was soy sauce. We let them know about the missing charcuterie to make sure it was not included on the bill. Other small things that detracted from the experience included them never clearing any dishes from the table (like the basket from the complimentary bread, appetizer plates or the huge wine glasses that neither of us needed) and not checking in on us to see how everything was going. The table was so cluttered it was hard to eat. It took a really long time to get the check and was so uncomfortable just sitting there obviously done with our food. For the prices charged I expected a higher level of service that was blatantly absent. Overall will not return. Over priced, slow, bland food.

After waiting a few minutes to see if it would be addressed, I brought it up myself. The waiter appeared flustered and then claimed he had accidentally charged me for someone else's food. That explanation didn't align with the itemized bill I was given, which made the situation feel questionable. He assured me that it would be corrected and that I should see the adjustment in a few days, which I'll be watching closely. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of transparency and the fact that it wasn't proactively disclosed is what left a bad impression. Being overcharged without explanation -- and having to catch it myself -- is not something I expect when dining out. I'd consider coming back for the food, but I'd definitely be more cautious when it comes to the bill.

I was informed that the sea bass was a staple of the daily dinner menu, so I can't wait to get this dish again. The dinner was also accompanied by complimentary bread service, amuse bouches, and mignardises. Last but not least, overall service was excellent. Kendra was our lead server, and she was friendly, attentive, and very helpful when it came to making selections. All the wait staff members were on top of clearing plates and refilling beverages. This bakery is an absolute treat for the senses. A delightful aroma and a visually stunning bakery. Pros - Their Hazelnut hot chocolate, was like a warm hug in a cup somewhere in Paris. Its rich flavor of Hazelnut and the perfect balance of sweetness made us want it to be never-ending. We also tried the Montblanc Pastry which featured a sweetened chestnut puree and resembled a tiny, partially snow-capped mountain. While some might find Maison Alyzee a tad pricey, every penny spent on the Hot Chocolate and the Montblanc was undeniably worth it. Cons - However, for those with dietary restrictions, I did wish they offered more eggless options. They also served their hot chocolate in a to-go mug which made it just a tad less aesthetically appealing. Final Verdict - I highly recommend exploring their hot chocolate, pastries, and other bakery delights. I'm leaving a 2 star review based on the apple tart and the exorbitant prices. I fully support paying top dollar for exquisite food but this, it is not. If I was to compare this patisserie to those I've visited in France and Italy; even the humble pastry shops in Nice, France and Disenzano, Italy blow this place out of the water. I will travel for great food and have no problem driving down to Southern California to buy pastries from Porto's. Which; might I add have great flavor and prices that are incomparable. To think that the bland and flavorless apple tart is $46. I'd rather spend $100 dollars on gas and $12 on Porto's delectable apple tart. I don't believe in paying Michelin prices for non Michelin pastries. The markup on pretentiousness is ridiculous. read more

We stumbled across this café and were excited to give it a try. The staff seemed busy and weren't particularly friendly, but they took our order efficiently. The space itself was clean and beautifully decorated. All of their desserts are displayed up front, making it easy to choose what you want, and they also offer a nice selection of savory items if you're not in the mood for something sweet. We ordered the Raspberry Pistachio Nest, a croissant dough filled with fresh organic raspberries and pistachio paste. It was incredibly flavorful, and the croissant was perfectly flaky and tender.
