The concept brought to the Bay Area by these guys despite the world having other options and places. The Bay Area has Anton. We recently purchased a Hokkaido cake from here, and I can say without a doubt, the taste is unmistakeable. For those of you that have not tried it, they offer little slices as well. Yes it's delicious but is it worth $12 for a small slice? I've had delicious fancy cake and Anton ranks right up there. The crepes are an interesting concept. You can tell the mango and cream are fresh. But again I'm stuck at $12 for a very small piece. It feels inflated to me. $8 is a fair price but I think $12 might be for that boutique upcharge at a store with a very high rent to pay. The service was very friendly. We tried the drink and pastry combo, and at $13.95 I have to say it has much better value exchange than similar offerings like Lady M. We got the iced oolong tea, which is freshly brewed, and the Hokkaido milk crepe cake, which was delicious - not too sweet, great level of creamy, and the crunchy bits of chocolate between layers was an excellent add to texture. We've known this place since before it opened at Stanford. But we felt it was expensive and didn't see the need to buy. But for our son's birthday we said why not and went in and the attendant patiently introduced their crepe cake to us and we decided on the multi flavors combo cake where you select up to 5 different flavors and the store will arrange the individual slices into a complete, round cake! Everyone loved it! Each bite was delicate and full of flavors. I took a small piece and noticed how many thin layers of crepes made up the cake and appreciated what they told us about how labor intensive it is to make the cake. The cream was good. I probably wouldn't come back since this isn't much of a casual dessert spot. It is pricey. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel other customers should know. I visited Anton SV Pâtisserie at Stanford Shopping Center with my grandson after trying one of their samples outside. I enjoyed it and went inside to purchase several desserts. My total purchase was about $80. I specifically ordered two tiramisu desserts because I wanted to split them between my wife and daughter-in-law. The employee repeatedly tried to convince me to buy a sesame dessert instead. I politely declined several times and made it clear that I wanted two tiramisu. She then told me, "I only have one tiramisu right now. If you can wait a few minutes, I'll make you a second one." I replied, "That's fine, I'll wait." I waited approximately eight minutes while she prepared what I believed was the second tiramisu. Since I had waited specifically for that second tiramisu and the boxes were already closed, I had no reason to suspect the order was wrong and did not open them before leaving. When I got home, I discovered that instead of receiving the two tiramisu I had waited for, I had been given one tiramisu and one sesame dessert--the very dessert I had repeatedly said I did not want. Given our conversation and the fact that I waited specifically for the second tiramisu, this did not feel like a simple oversight. I also asked that the desserts be packed into two separate boxes. That request was ignored. Four delicate pastries were packed tightly into one box without dividers or support, while the mango desserts were placed in a separate box. The employee instructed me to carry the bag from the bottom, which I did. I placed it carefully on the floor of my truck and drove directly home. The bag was never dropped or mishandled. When I lifted it by the handles to carry it into my house, both cardboard handle tabs tore off simultaneously, causing the box to fall. The attached photos clearly show the failed packaging and the crushed desserts. For an $80 purchase, I expected the order to be prepared correctly and the packaging to be strong enough to get the desserts home safely. I hope management takes this review seriously. Beautiful pastries deserve customer service that listens to customers and packaging that protects the product. There's a limited amount of pastries to choose from and they're all regular like croissant, simple cake slices, etc. Not to mention, the shop itself is small in size so be prepared to grab-n-go. I wanted to try their crepe cake slice which was $12. This slice was pricey, but I understand because of the intensive labor that goes into it. I had the Hokkaido milk tea flavor which was good but tasted like sweet milk and nothing else other than the small bits of chocolate crunch. The pistachio flavor crepe cake was subtly and really light in flavor as well. I wouldn't go back for these. I paired my dessert with espresso from Stumptown. Update: I did return and still no chai lattes. After waiting for two other customers to be served, we were informed. One would expect items on the menu to have the capability to be made. Return now is unfortunately unlikely. It seems like every time I'm at Stanford Shopping Center a new place has opened. Recently, it was Anton, located in the old Gourmet Franks spot. I was completely unfamiliar with the Anton world but after walking by it two times and needing the afternoon pick me up, it was going to tick a few boxes. The space is bright, modern, and attractive. One of the first things noticed was no posted pricing, coffee menu included. We were informed that their specialty was the crepe cake. It was afternoon and some of the flavors, like tiramisu, were sold out. I opted for pain a chocolat and an Americano. The menu listed chai lattes and my shopping companions would have ordered, but they didn't have whatever mix was needed to make them. It was explained in a peculiar way instead of what I assumed was the real situation--they had only been open for 2 day and it was likely an opening hiccup. I was asked if I wanted my pain au chocolat "for here" or "to go", being informed that they package things differently for "for here" orders. We did want to sit at one of the tables outside. When all was said and done I was handed a cute little tray. I didn't even see them heating the pastry up, but I was very appreciative and impressed that it was just done as an automatic. The pain a chocolat was exceptionally delicious. The pastry was buttery, soft and flaky. The chocolate was extraordinarily rich but somehow not too overwhelming. They opened a new location in Stanford shopping center so I took a look inside. I saw crepe cake slices and pastries. The pastries are from Manresa but the crepe cake is baked in house so I decided to try those. I got the black sesame and hokkaido milk. Both were very finely made and easy to cut through for a bite. The black sesame tasted exactly like black sesame and the crepe vs cream ratio was perfectly balanced. The hokkaido milk had some nuts or crunch in them and tasted great, not too sweet. Stumbled upon Anton's when I was shopping at Stanford Mall recently. My family loves crepe cakes but not everyone makes them the right way so we decided to give them a try. We ordered the Matcha and Hokkaido flavors and both were delicious. The crepe cakes were not too sweet and they were light and airy, not too dense. We also food out that Anton's has several locations around the Bay Area as well as additional pickup locations so no excuse to not try it.
