Fast service. I needed keys made. Yelped this place and found it was on my way from my friends apartment to the convention center and the Lyft driver was cool about stopping for 5 minutes. All good. Only drawback was each key was $3 (I get them for around $2 locally down in LA) but in a pinch, it was great. Yeah, there is a large key in the window! read more

Very knowledgable staff. Friendly. Clean & bright store. Good selection of locks and accessories. Quick at cutting keys! I came here to copy a key for an Isuzu NPR truck. I had previously went to 4 other shops, and nobody had the blank. They did! read more

Fast, easy, affordable key duplication. Walked in and out in 2 minutes with new house keys! Woo hoo, no more locking myself out of my apartment (I hope!) read more

Key Copy story. I don't write a ton of reviews these days but Mainline deserves every one of these stars. All I wanted was to get two copies of my house key. I tried going to a couple of places (e.g., UPS) that will make keys but it is not their primary business. The keys made at these places did not work. I decided to go to a real professional and Mainline made 2 copies of my key in under 5 minutes for about $7. UPS, for example, charged $5 for one key that did not work. Both keys work exactly as the original and I am a happy camper. read more

Price for copying normal keys is pretty high. $3 +tax for each key (vs $1.50 for competitors). My fault for assuming that copying a standard door key would be the typical price point and not asking the price beforehand. The guy who copied my keys this time around was different than the guy from my first experience--this new guy seemed less happy to work there but was nonetheless still polite. New guy also didn't voluntarily tell me until the keys were already made and was ringing me up. 'Whatever,' I thought, 'just a drop in the bucket. Consider it a convenience charge for being semi on the way to Caltrain (this one time I actually need to take Caltrain).' The last thing he said was along the lines of...'if there's anything wrong with the keys, just bring them back and we'll fix it for free.' Thanks, but odd--isn't exactly reassuring. Welp, then I got home and tried the keys and--yep, you guessed it!--there was something wrong. 1 of 2 professionally copied keys didn't work. That's another thing to add to my never-ending to-do list: go back and get the key fixed. Hope it gets copied right in Round 2. read more

I called them and asked for service information and they provided it to me. I drove all the way over there and they decided to close early and not answer the phone. Really inconsiderate owner or employee knowing I had just called them and told them I'm on my way!!! They close way before Yelp hours, so just know they aren't accurate!!! They close at 4 read more

I locked myself out of my apartment. Arrived within 5 mins of my call. Amazing and friendly service and his work is fast. Thank you John for saving me. read more

I had an excellent experience with Mainline Security. Mikee at the showroom is SUPER knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to explain the differences between the safes in terms of both fire and theft protection. When they came to install at my home Ed, Jerod and Mikee were a great team - efficient and thorough. This place gets my top rating. : ) read more

Great place but sort of hidden. I can't believe my 3new keys worked. I made a copy of my very dull key and it was made within 10min. I was a little worry it might not work because my original key was very wearable and a little dented. Just amazing all 3keys worked on my first visit. I ya what I like about this place also is that they accept Apple pay. I just started using Apple pay and it very easy to buy here with Apple pay. read more

Really love this place. They duplicate keys really quickly and they are friendly. My friends had a really hard time getting the keys to their house duplicated because it said "do not duplicate" on them, no matter how many times they explained to lock smiths that they owned their house. I went here and explained the situation and they were more than happy to duplicate the keys. read more

Very fast and friendly service. Made copy of key--in and out in less than 3 minutes. Street parking seems to be readily available during business hours. read more

John answered my emergency call for help on Sunday during the Fourth of July weekend, and bailed me out of foolishly having locked myself out of my condominium unit. He came into the city all the way from Petaluma. He was professional from the moment I spoke with him on the phone, explained what he would try to do to get into my unit without having to drill the lock, and how much it would cost. He was able to get the door open without drilling, which saved me some money. He's a seasoned professional, and I recommend him highly. read more

Extremely inflated prices. Got quoted one price on the phone and charged a higher amount when they came on site. The dude came for 5 minutes to rekey my lock and charged closed to $250 for labor plus keys. Maybe I don't know how much it costs to rekey locks but it's for sure no rocket science and shouldn't cost an exorbitant amount. read more

Needed to make two copy for My Frightener truck. Went to few places. No one could help. They was lazy to do a bit research. Then one or two people recommended that place. I went. To start. What a great service. That young dude was so helpful. At lease he try first. Then I was able to get him two simple keys for the same brand. And he was able to do it. And it's work perfect. Thank you so much for the great service. From now on. I am using then only. read more

Wow. Quoted one price on the phone. Changed the price when they came out. Irate. Interrupted a lot. Avoid at all costs.

The staff at Mainline Security was super friendly and prompt. I accidently broke a key in half while opening my front door. In 15 minutes, they were able to take apart the lock, pull out the shreds of my old key, and generate brand new keys (that work much better than my originals did). I'd highly recommend these guys for your locksmithing needs in SOMA/FIDI area. read more

The service I receive was adequate meaning they got the job done and did what they were supposed to but I absolutely hate calling the main line (pun intended) and dealing with their main receptionist. He's an older gentleman and he always sound unapologetic and condescending. Why did they assign the person with innate customer service abilities to be the one who answer service calls? read more

I walked in today, ordered a key and had it done with a lovely demeanor, professionalism and speediness that made my jaw drop. Seriously, it all took less than 5 min, from parking my car to paying and leaving... *This is the SAME key that Millbrae Lock, whose been in business forever and a day, told me would take 4-6 weeks to make... one, single key. Plus, when I called this business to double check on the status of this magical key, the man informing me essentially called me a liar and stuck by whatever his owner had said/not said (even though said man on the phone with me was NOT present when I made the transaction with the owner). Would never give them business again. Really sad. And yeah, still waiting for that polite phone call from that business that the mythical key has been made... not holding my breath* Thrilled to have this done so well and so quickly. Plus, Mainline Security guarantees their work and said to just come back in if anything is wrong with the key. F' íng awesome, plain and simple. read more

These guys are great. I have used them for over 20 years for both keys and service calls. They are prompt, courteous and very helpful. The entire staff make this a great business. Highly recommended for safe, quick and excellent lock and key work. read more

I needed copy made of a Medeco key. After going through a handful of locksmiths who weren't able to copy it I came upon Mainline Security. Apparently they're one of the few locksmiths in San Francisco who can cut Medeco keys, since Medeco keys are much more common on the east coast than the west. I spoke with Terry on the phone before going there in person, and from the get-go it was smooth sailing. He told me they probably could make the key but he would need to see it to make sure. He also mentioned that it would be $14 for a Medeco key so that I knew up front it would be more than a standard key. Terry ended up being able to cut the key from me. He and all their staff are a pleasure to deal with. Trustworthy, friendly and professional. read more

Key duplication is quick and painless. On top of that, the people that work there are also helpful and kind.

these guys are great! made the mistake of going to home depot to get keys copied. NEVER AGAIN! i got 3 copies of my housekey for under $4, and he even threw in a free plastic tag that i wanted. keys worked with no problem at all. support local business! i wish they were open longer so i could go after work. tip: parking lot is in the back, you have to make a turn into the alley behind the store, off brannan. read more

This place is great - I locked myself out of a cheapie strongbox I got from Office Depot, needed to get it open in a hurry - I went there as soon as they opened in the morning (8am, before work, great!) - they popped it open as soon as I walked in the door and didn't charge me for it! Super cool! Also the store was just impressive, very clean and well organized with great equipment displays. A plus experience. read more

Took them 3 days to make copies of 30 keys. Then on the 3rd day I called to see what the status was of our keys and the guy on the phone said they were ready. I asked him why I didn't receive a call and he said they did call. I said what number, he repeated my number but I never received a call. I know he was lying because I said why didn't you leave a message? He said they "couldn't get through". WTF? Typically, you call again right? No, they're just lazy and they never called. When I went in, the guy that helped me was very nice and pleasant. He was a big guy, medium to dark complexion and he was really customer service orientated. The dude on the phone both days, which was the same guy I could tell, was lazy sounding, sloppy and sounded like he was munchin' on a donut like Homer Simpson. I won't be patronizing this place again for my company. read more

So my key goes into the lock for my condo and 1/3 of a turn and....the door does not unlock and the key is stuck in the tumbler. My phone is in the condo and I am practically in pajamas. Got a hold of Mainline through the front desk and in less than half an hour I was back in the condo. They needed to rekey the tumbler and cleaned and lubed the ($500 - who knew) mechanism. Took it to the shop and they returned in about an hour and reassembled the door. Tested it and made adjustments to fine tune it. Everything was back to working with a full guarantee for a few bennies. Tragedy averted. Fast, friendly and efficient. Just the way I like it. read more

I got a new place and would like to re-key my unit door. The condo HOA manager suggested mainline security. I called the place and the guy answered the phone was very nice to explain how did the re-key work. I made an appointment for the next day. 2 guys came over to replaced the mail box key, and re-keyed my unit door. It only took about 20 min. The cost was also lower than originally estimated. The service was indeed great as the HOA manager suggested. read more

I went here to get some copies of my motorcycle key. I brought with me a list of all of the key blanks that would work, since not all locksmiths have a lot of experience with motorcycle keys. I showed it to the guy at the counter, but he didn't want to look at it; he said he wouldn't need it. He then made copies of my key using blanks that were not in my list. They didn't work, so I brought them back and asked if he was sure he didn't want to see my list; again he said he didn't need it. He did something to the copies and I went and tried them again; still no dice. When I brought them back again, they gave me a full refund. read more
