One of our car keys was falling apart. We brought it to Don's. They said the "chip" was missing. They gave us a new key, put in a new chip and programmed it while we waited. Great service! Five stars! read more

Don's Key & Lock knows their business and are happy to share that knowledge with their customers. The locking mechanism for my back door had been broken by exterminators in my house. When it looked as if it would need replacing, Dorian (at Don's Key & Lock) immediately knew the brand and where to get replacement parts. But first he offered to come to my house to confirm what the problem was. It turns out it was something he could -- and did -- fix. That is service I would go back for anytime. read more

Don's Key & Lock was wonderful to work with. I came in to replace a padlock , to find one that would survive outdoors at my local library garden and they went beyond expectations! Lisa read more

Don's Key & Lock is the BEST! Over the years he has made keys for locks that no one else could, including locks where the manufacturer is no longer making blanks. Today George from Don's Key & Lock made a service call and replaced three locks. Very efficient and pleasant, plus he also provided excellent advice of which lock to get and how to maintain them. Don and all his staff are super nice and helpful! read more

I came in with a broken mail key that was split in half. The gentleman that helped me warned me that they can't guarantee a perfect copy since the key was so broken. The copy they made me worked better than the original. They're key magicians as far as I'm concerned. Prices are fair and the selection of hardware on display in the store look very appealing. read more

Don's Key & Lock has the most unique and stylish door handles I've ever seen! I was looking for something different, and they delivered with imported designs that added a perfect touch to my home. Great selection and excellent service! read more

There's nothing like old-fashioned service, and it's even more special in our increasingly anonymous world. Don and his colleagues have always been there to supply the locks we need to keep our property in the neighborhood safe. They helped me upgrade the locks after a break as well. And when in need of technical assistance with a lock related issue Don was there for me in spades, with expertise, a smile and a solution to my problem! Thank you Don, you and your team are the best! read more

I have to give Donnie and his team 5 stars! I needed to make a few copies of a key and went to the closest place we found. When I walked in I was greeted by Donnie and he asked how he can help. We started chit chatting while one of the team members made the copies I needed. I was truly impressed with his displays of hardware (doorknobs, handles, towel accessories, etc) and am now using Don's to modernize my unit! The price was great for the quality of the products and the expert service each employee provides. Use these guys!! read more

Don's has everything lock related, so sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing!

Came in to get a key duplicated. Fast, friendly and helpful. Will come back and use again for any key future key needs.

I requested assistance with a Baldwin keyless entry for two entry doors which had settled. The deadlocks were so out of jam they became inoperable (both failed at the same time). The appointment call was made with a professional gentleman who scheduled the service within the work day (the woman who used to answer their phone was always irritable, so this was quite refreshing!), but this was the first of a great experience with Don's. Farass (sp?) was extremely professional and efficient. It was a dream. BTW, the store carries beautiful hardware, and knowledgable staff, and now I know they provide equally pleasant and professional service to back it up. Thanks! Highly recommend. read more

I went in to get a key copied! Previously, I'd gotten the key copied by two other hardware stores, and all those copies didn't work. Glad I went to this store to get my keys done, because now I finally got it done! It was done fast and efficiently. Parking availability is easy if it's not busy in the area. Went at 10 am and it was easy to park across the st. read more

Don's is the best place for all things related to lock sets & key copying. They are very knowledgeable and I love to support small businesses. When Cole Hardware burned down several years back Don's became my go to for my real estate business. I've never had to come back for a bad key copy. read more

Been using for 20 years without issue - they sold me INOX smart locks which are a poor product... they came back 3 times to adjust the door closure allowing for the auto lock to work... they even charged me for the 3rd visit to fix their install... still doesn't work but I have give up on them.... Support and sales staff are rude on top of it - like they are doing me a favor for 2500 of hardware... many other choices.. pick someone else, I will to have my install finally fixed read more

Just came here for some set of work keys, everyone was so helpful and nice. Appreciate their excellent customer service, and prices are great! Also family owned, so support your local businesses! read more

Cut me some keys extremely fast and reasonably priced. Even kept it quiet since I had my baby with me.

I never post negative reviews, but I'm making an exception here. Starting with the positive, their locksmith are competent (and some very competent). But the front office is a mess. The ladies who do the scheduling are extremely disorganized, and some are bordering on rude (or annoyed?). It took us 20+ calls to effectively schedule a lock repair for our front door, and I think i lost 2 years of lifespan through the aggravation. Ultimately the lock got fixed, but Don - you need to make some changes in your business read more

I'm really disappointed in Don's. I walked in on the week of Thanksgiving to look for a replacement latch for a window. They were out of stock at the time, but assured me that they had placed an order and that when it arrives in a week (their estimate), they would call me back. They recorded my name and number on the system. Three weeks go by and I haven't gotten a call. I called twice and both times they told me the shipment still had not arrived. I waited and today when I called they flatly told me that my information is no longer on the system. I really wanted to support a neighborhood business (I've lived in Bernal for 10 years), but this experience was a waste of my time. read more

Our business was broken into and our door handle ripped off in the wee hours of Monday morning. Once inside our spare keys were taken as well as other things. I called Don's at 9AM by noon our locks were changed, we had a new door handle, and spare keys in hand.....yes, we hide them now! Our tech was professional, friendly, and efficient! I highly recommend Don's if you find yourself in a jam! read more

Super friendly service! Copied our keys in less than 10 seconds. Super convenient, and less than $5

Super super convenient. My roommates kept losing their keys so I made a bazillion copies. In and out in less than ten minutes. Friendly staff. I've been there twice in four years. Professional. What more can I say? read more

I needed a spare key for a recent condo purchase. Being "secure" keys to the front lobby, they can't (and shouldn't) be duplicated just anywhere. Don's had done the prior keys so I contacted the store and was referred to Irma, the managing partner. After sending her proof of ownership papers, she arranged a new key within a day. When I arrived at the shop, all was in order and I was back out the door in about five minutes. Excellent customer service! read more

Great quality. Quick and easy. Excellent service. Professional employees. This is the store for all your locksmith needs.

I was referred to Don's via the rep for Valli & Valli, and Don was able to come by to assess my issue. They are very busy and it took a while to get a quote. My. project is ongoing, I will update my review one the parts have arrived and everything is installed. read more

Don's Key & Lock - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - San Francisco, California

I'm doing a remodel and working without the help of an architect (except for the permit issues and major questions). As such I have to figure out a hundred small details, including having to understand and sort all the options for door hardware on a french door. After doing some on-line research, I realized that I need to talk to someone who could help me to understand all the technical issues and match the options best for me. (Yeah, I know, I should probably hire an interior designer....). One of the issues was that I needed hardware ASAP. Anyways, Don's Lock and Key was nearby and they had a showroom that carried some of the hardware I had tentatively identified. So, I took a chance and went down. In the event, the rep I spoke with - Terry - was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He spent a LOT of time with a customer that was only going to buy hardware for a single door. I ended up getting an entry door set, and was prepared to pay a steep price for the in-person experience (after researching on-line earlier, I knew what the on-line prices were). And I was prepared to pay the higher price in return for the all the help I received. BUT, I was shocked that the difference was not that much. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Great service! Donnie's great to work with. They have me a reasonable price for a nice handle.

I moved to the city a couple of months ago and, for a number of reasons, have had to end up going back to this place four or five times (not the fault of the store at all). If I'm being honest, I've had great and not so good interactions with some of the employees. Some of them are just too curt and impatient. With that said, Donnie and Feris are awesome! Donnie went way above and beyond in terms of helping me get what I was looking for and giving me options well beyond what I was thinking about doing. When Feris came to install everything, I just couldn't believe how efficient, hard-working, and personable he was. I wish more stores had people like Donnie and Feris working for them - it would have made my move to SF so much smoother. read more
