Did a great job and I love the building. Super nice guys and they duplicated 4 keys for me for about $25. Was a nice place and it's a solid business. read more

Services are good and fast! Reasonable prices. Will go back again if I need second set of keys!

I saw some reviews about the key copying failing... should have gone to a more highly rated place. The key copying was fast and cheap ($7/key) but I got inexact copies so they only work with the perfect placement and pressure. It can take upwards of 10 tries to work. Pretty much unusable, going to have to get a better copy elsewhere. read more

Key copy done in seconds! Very friendly, if only it weren't so hard to find (in the basement)

Would not recommend. They used to be okay to work with but they are unresponsive and unreliable. Do not waste your time and energy.

Quick and easy, though you may need to double check they did it right. Venue: this shop is located in the basement (floor -1) of 60 Spear St. Didn't see any signs but the receptionist was kind enough to direct me. Once on the lower floor, signs will direct you to the shop. Service: I give them kudos for doing it quickly - I was literally in there and out in 5 min. You give them the keys you want to copy and they do it right there and then. Price was pretty good too - $12.31 for copying two keys. However, my complaint is that I brought two keys, and one of them was copied incorrectly (on a completely different key base than what was needed). If key copying is going to be your main business, do it correctly. Also didn't help that the man who helped me seemed somewhat disinterested in the transaction and I felt somewhat that I was being rushed out. For a key business, would have expected it to be done properly the first time, as I would not want to have to double check it myself. Even though they are super quick, not sure I would come back if I have to double check each key I copy. read more

The customer is an inconvenience to them. Matt the manager is alway out of traveling or something. Which is unfortunate since according to Maryann and Eli Matt's the only one at that company that can access their order history/status and he can only do that when he's in the office. They are immediately rude on the phone no matter what you say. Ask them about a $3k order you have with them and no one knows about it. Here is an example, it took 5 months to get them to acknowledge that they even placed our orders. It's now been 8 months and they don't know where the order is and asked for us to send the order because THEIR order numbers weren't enough. read more

Came in during my lunch hour to get a spare key made, and I was in and out of the place in less than 5 minutes for less that $5. The store is located on the basement level (floor -1), there are tons of signs in the 60 Spear building to direct you. I was greeted by a friendly woman, who quickly assessed my key and popped out a duplicate with the blink of an eye. Great quick service, highly recommend! read more

SO quick! No wait, I had two keys I needed to copy and both together probably took less than two minutes. I was in and out of there in under five minutes max. The staff is very kind and attentive, I highly recommend. The space itself is in an office building, basement level, so just tell the person at the front desk where you're going and they'll tell you where to go. Overall great experience, definately going back if I need any house keys copied again. read more

Saved my a** on the day I was moving out of my apartment and accidentally locked myself out. Very professional and efficient, and got the job done - even made me a spare key! Absolutely recommend. They are very reasonably priced even for emergency locksmith services. read more

So quick, I was a bit sketched out it was in a basement but they were so kind and they have the cutest key accessories!! read more

$20 to copy 6 keys. I was out in 5 minutes. Well done. 2 of the keys were normal door keys and 1 was for an old file cabinet so I was impressed they copied it. read more

They did an awesome custom job to convert my standard remote key into a switch blade style key. See picture Everyone was super friendly during the whole experience. I was asking for a super custom job that lost locksmiths would turn down. They essentially had to cut and fabricate my key to fit into a switch blade housing. It took some time but it happened! After all that - they only charged me for love as I brought in my own car key. Quick note - they don't cut car keys Overall experience was awesome as they were super accommodating. If I need regular keys cut...I'd come back here as well read more

Tucked in an alley I've wandered down countless times before, never noticing them. Walk through a garage. He needed a key, I needed a little soccer ball cover to distinguish my house key from my other key. So friendly. read more

Apparently, Yelp won't let me post a short review. So rather than my review of "[e]asy and convenient and quick," I need to post something annoyingly verbose. Feel free to stop reading now, as this review will now be the opposite of the positive parts of my experience at Complete Security, in that it will be long, inconvenient, and annoying. Why would anyone keep reading this? And why would Yelp insist a review that took me longer to write than this place took to make a key. The world is full of mysteries. read more

I just went here to make a couple copies of my house keys. Walked out paying $10 for 2 basic keys, no extras or anything. BOTH of the keys didn't even end up working. Seriously? read more

Fast, friendly and...not easy to find. I came here to get duplicate keys made for my house. Walking down the alley, I almost missed the little shop tucked literally inside a garage. The two men working were extremely pleasant, smiling and happy - and my keys were done before I had time to read through more than half a page of the binder full of reading material they keep on the counter to entertain the customers. This place is the definition of great service. read more

I've come here a couple of times when I needed keys made for the office in a rush. They are are not too far away so it was fairly convenient. However, they are very expensive in comparison to the average hardware store. I think I paid almost $4 per key as compared to $1-2 at other locations. The last time I had keys made here, a gentleman came in while I was waiting because they made his key wrong. A couple of months later I tried to get into my office one evening after my colleagues had left. I had forgotten my phone at my desk or something. It was then that I realized that the key they had made for me was also made incorrectly and I was locked out! Not a very good situation to be in. I can't say that I'd recommend them unless it was a dire situation. At any rate CHECK THE KEY immediately to make sure it works. read more

Stopped by Complete Security to make a few key copies after losing two sets of keys in two weeks (I know, I always lose all my shit). The service was fast and the man who helped me was friendly, but I'm giving this place 3 stars because of two things: 1. I almost didn't go in because it's on the basement floor of an office building and I thought I had the wrong address. They should definitely try to put out a sign or something 2. I paid $30 for 6 keys, 2 key rings and a wristband for the keys. I made 4 keys at another spot in Chinatown before and it only cost me about $9 read more

I've been going to this place in my capacity as office manager for a downtown nonprofit, since it's less than a block away. While they provide relatively quick service and have a lot of key paraphenalia for sale, there are three things you should know: * Their prices have gone from $2 per key copy to $3.30 in the last year or so. I don't want to think about what kind of a percentage increase that is. And $2 is not even cheap to begin with. * They profess to be open until 5pm, but you'd better not try going at 4:30, especially not on a Friday. * They botched my last set of keys (they made them too short, so they won't work on the lock). I am going back tomorrow. Will they remake them for me? That is the decisive question, in terms of whether I avoid them like the plague from now on. read more

I needed a very specific piece for a smart lock that I was trying to install. Keer was extremely helpful in researching what other options I could consider instead of me manipulating the lock on my own to make it work. I really appreciate the time he took to fully understand my request and create the piece of metal I needed to get my lock to fit. One thing is clear, these guys really make a strong effort to help out their customers as best as they can! Thank you Complete Security! read more

Quickly made keys for an obscure padlock I inherited at a new house. The keys were more expensive than the keys Home Depot copied. Unlike the Home Depot keys, these actually worked. I found the staff there quirky, geeky and charming. read more

First time I've ever had spare keys made and they worked just like the original! Service was friendly, they had my duplicate key ready in about 30 seconds, AND they were nice to my dog read more

I can only give them this many stars because of their location and how fast they processed my keys. It's in literally downtown SF in a little alley ... and they literally took my keys (told me I couldn't get the Hello Kitty ones OR any of the other colorful ones :'( within two seconds of looking at the "six prong") and then made two copies within 3 minutes. I paid them 3.50 per key and the bf said I was ripped off.. but I think it was okay since I paid for the convenience. Overall, I'd go back again if I just need one or two keys done. Also, they said they dont do car keys FYI. read more

Came in here during lunch break with a coworker. She was having her home key duplicated. It took less than 5 minutes and cost less than $5. It's in the basement of 60 Spear. The security knew what we were looking for immediately and was able to direct us. read more

All the good things everyone else is saying about them is true. I went on my lunch break and needed a set of 4 keys duped twice. The gal said "ok", turned around to her work bench and had it done in less than 10 minutes while I checked email on my iphone. I got a couple color bands thrown in and total was about $30. Great place, not too hard to spot, it looks like a repair garage from the alleyway but they have a little standing sign on the sidewalk. Will absolutely use them next time I need keys duped. read more

Came in for a key duplicate. It was super duper quick! No line. Great service. Note: it says they are open 24-hours a day but they are only open until 4pm. Also, take the elevator to floor -1. read more

I suppose coming here a couple of times to have keys copied might not make me exceptionally qualified to review, however I do feel like $12 for 3 simple house keys is a little pricey. They do operate quickly, but I woulnd't say they are overly friendly - it's not like we made small talk about the weather or anything at all. Complete Security is quite secure... you can barely find the place! It feels like you are walking in to a small parking cave in a little alley. You walk past parked trucks into a tucked away garage-roll-up-door entry, where there is a counter with a wall of various keys behind it. Good if you need keys made on your break and work nearby. Not the place to go if you want ultra-cheap key duplicates accompanied by jokes and smiles... am I the only one who is used to $1.19 key copies made by the happiest people around?!? read more

Awkward interaction with the business insisting they cannot copy the type of keys I have, and me insisting I was specifically sent to their office to get these kinds of keys copied. The back and forth lasted for a long while until he admitted he was wrong and he could copy. I dislike people who are this self confident when they are wrong. One of the copies keys didn't work, leaving people stranded at the door a week later. read more

These guys rock! Great service and they save you money and make you smile!! We moved our office and needed more keys - I was having a bad day - never realized that this place could also be a comedy club! The staff was terrific - friendly, bantering with another customer who seemed to be a regular. Not only were they fast and every key worked (sometimes I've had different results in the past) - but I walked out of there thinking they made my day and I wondered if I could FIND a way to need more keys! Hard to find an old fashioned locksmith with the tools that make keys... Handy craftsman that makes copies of your keys the old fashioned way instead of the automatic Jerry copying machine. Excellent service, fast and easy. Keys are solid, not cheap metal keys, look like the originals. I had a lock with no key, and they were able to remake the key for me read more

When I told someone that I was running out to get duplicate keys made they asked, "Here in San Francisco!?" Of course! I called around to a few shops and learned that to come to my office they would charge me $60! Outrageous. That said, I see no reason a firm shouldn't charge me a 'convenience' fee, but $60! Really? That's highway robbery. It was a beautiful day anyway so I walked up to Complete Security and had my keys made efficiently and correctly...and saved the $60! read more

This morning I worked with Darell from Complete Security. He was the 3rd locksmith that I had on-site and was the only one that didn't BS me. He didn't try to sell me anything. He fixed my problem which 2 others were not able or willing to. He was patient, diligent and was willing to explain things to me in a way not an expert could understand. Thank you Darrell! read more

Had two keys made on my lunch hour. Easy peasy. Price was under $10. Money well spent for the piece of mind that you have a spare key for lockouts/ guests. Check-in with the security desk in the lobby so they can send you down the elevator. read more

Crappy place in a garage in an alleyway. Went there to get 3 keys copied and was greeted with a gruff "we don't do car keys". What kind of place copies everything but car keys? But they guy still wanted me to copy my other two keys! Like, if I already now have to go somewhere else I'm going to get only *some* of my keys copied with him. Yeah, I don't think so. Unless you're in dire need of key copying while at work, my advice is: AVOID. 3 starts instead of one b/c the place was clean, conveniently located to downtown, and the woman who was helping someone else didn't look like she'd act like a troll towards customer like the guy did. read more

I created a Yelp account just to review this place. It's things like the everyday basic services that we probably don't appreciate enough. I've used Complete Security twice and both times the service was no-nonsense and super fast. These people know keys. I was first referred there a couple years ago when they were still at the Stevenson location. Ace Hardware couldn't copy my keys which were some kind of non-standard security key, but Complete Security did the job and it didn't even take 2 minutes. Recently I needed keys copied again and again they did great. Oh, and they're nice people too. read more
