Mike, a event coordinator, came up to introduce himself and introduce me to Ryan, who would be taking care of our group. My cousins and I went to Main Event (total of 11 people) a couple of weeks ago. We arrived at approximately 3:30 PM and were told that we had to purchase the afternoon rate FUNpass and then purchase the more expensive 5 PM - Close rate if we were still there past 5 PM. We asked the staff and management if we could just purchase the passes for 5 PM - Close and stay a little past 5 PM. They were very inflexible and the management did not make any effort to accommodate us. We were willing to pay the more expensive rate to begin with, but it made absolutely no sense to pay for one pass for about an hour and a half and then have to purchase a whole other pass afterwards for another hour. We ended up leaving after the management refused to work with us. This was my first time spending time with my family since returning from a deployment to Afghanistan this year and I have to say that I am very frustrated that the staff and management were so inflexible. *Update: I was told to email the district manager about this issue. We recently had our two sons' joint birthday party at a Main Event. It was quite expensive for only two hours. I was to have two party coordinators to assist with the party. As guests were arriving they were being directed to the wrong location delaying the party commencing. As some of the children finally made their way to the correct party room, the party coordinators were supposed to be serving pizza. Several plates came and random children were served. One of the birthday boys received pizza while the other did not for quite some time. I eventually went to the pizza area to find out what the hold up was and found about 8-10 party coordinators just standing at the counter chatting while plates of pizza were growing cold. I was quite irritated at this point as half the party kids AND a birthday boy still had no pizza. Eventually the children were all served and we were immediately rushed to do cake as our hour in the party room was nearly over. We sang happy birthday and the party coordinators insisted on serving cake at the bowling area so they could clean the room for the next party. We then moved to the bowling area where one party coordinator VERY SLOWLY entered children's names into the computer. I asked where the other party coordinator was, as they were AGAIN burning our very limited time to bowl...AND eat cake. I was told she was cleaning the party room and that I would have the wait. The bowling area had not been bused or wiped down at all. The tables were filthy and large plates of food were stacked up. My sister started busing plates and cups and when she tried to give it to an employee, the girl directed my sister WHERE to put the dirty dishes rather than taking them from her. The names were finally entered into the machine and the kids started bowling...with about 30 minutes left after getting their bowling shoes and having their names entered. At this point cake was finally served...to all the children. All of the parents sitting on the side were not offered any cake, and neither was I or my younger children who were also in attendance. I had to ask for a piece of cake and had to tell the party coordinators to offer cake to the parents. We then were given the game cards to go play in the arcade and while I was told over the phone that the birthday kids would have a bit more on their games cards, in person of course that was a whole different story. A four hundred dollar party that was supposed to be less stressful than hosting it at home (I have a newborn)...was a bitter disappointment. We will not be back. read more

We held my daughter's 12th bday at the Main Event in Katy. They really did make the whole experience fun for the kids and hassle free for the adults. The package we purchased included bowling, laser tag, a game card for each kid and a party table with Pizza and drinks. It was just the right amount of activities to keep the guests entertained and having a great time. Our group did not enjoy ourselves. The place needs some work and management needs to focus on customer relations. 1. Several games, areas are damaged or broken, including shuffleboard (most pucks have no top and were very dirty, we actually had to clean them ourselves to even get them to slide. Tried to place air hockey but one side didn't register any score. We then had someone that wanted to play the jump rope game which gladly took our money but never worked. All the while there was no one on the floor to help us get a refund or take any comments. 2. At 11 pm on a Friday night, suddenly without any notice or warning all games and lights turned off. We thought they lost power but no suddenly the police ask us all to leave for a private party. We had several people in the middle of a game and it just cut off, more money wasted. If they had given us warning we would have finished up and left, but we didn't even know what happened and no one else around us did either until they started yelling at us to leave now. It was very rude and completely ruined what little fun we did have. A simple announcement would have prevented this but apparently no managers with any common sense were working. Will just drive in to Dave and Buster's next time. read more

Never been here before, but my oldest insisted he wanted his BIG 10th birthday here so that's what I did. The booking process through Amberle over the phone was easy, which made me a little skeptical. Arrived yesterday and we were greeted by AVA and ALYSSA with the biggest smiles on their faces! I did the ultimate package so my 10yr old could have a grand experience and my oh my HE DID!!! Ava and Alyssa when above and beyond to assure everything went smooth, even down to the fact that I wanted the kids fries and chicken nuggets to be on red plates only. They checked on all our guests, bringing whatever we requested promptly. These ladies need a raise!!! When I say I've never had a party run so smoothly I mean that! I didn't NEED to lift a finger. I had 20+ kids and all were served and cared for by these ladies! Ava and Alyssa you ladies have an AMAZING personality fit for this job. I know it may have been stressful with soo many kids, but none of my guest or myself could tell because y'all kept that smile and terrific personality!!! This place has terrible service. They are understaffed and only have teenagers working here who have no sense of customer service. Their leagues, if you can call it that, are a complete joke. They cannot even set the lanes for league style bowling. Save your energy and go somewhere else. Hopefully they can get their act together before they run everyone off. read more

We came with 8 kids and they had the best 3 hours. Manager todd did a great job and made sure that we had our bowling lanes right away. We only had to wait 5 minutes. Kids also enjoyed laser tag and gravity ropes. Todd and his staff was very responsive whether it was helping kids with the bowling machine, our food or drinks. We went to main event for bowling with the family. We ended up buying the pass for all the activities. When my kids went to do the ropes activity, they were told to get a ticket even though no one was on the ropes. They left to get a ticket and came right back. The guy left! I saw him do this numerous times to kids. I spoke with the manager, Connor. He explained "they were short staffed". Really! Why sell tickets if you won't give access to the activities. We found a roach at Main Event. We told the server about the roach, he said he told his manager. The roach did not get removed and it continued to enjoy hanging out there for the night. Also, they should not sell packages for laser tag, gravity ropes if they are booked and the kids never get to actually do those activities. There food is pricey for what it is and they don't have happy hour food anymore. read more

Stopped by Main Event after a tough day just to bowl and the staff was beyond amazing! Our server Mikel was such a sweetheart and made sure we was taken care of throughout our time! We were then greeted by the manager Todd (Roll Tide) who not only asked about our experience but asked how it could have been better! This place seems as if it is a good place for families that want to stay out with their kids late night and a drop off for teenagers. The establishment is full of kids (with no money) just running back and forth "hanging out" like a bunch of mall rats. Matter of fact I was playing an arcade game and their was two teenagers hanging on the back of my seat waiting for me to finish. Kinda awkward. All this is as expected because of the activities offered (bowling and arcade games etc). On the good side, it is very nice inside and the bowling lanes are cool. The prices are standard for what they offer. So give it a try but you just wont be blown away. read more

I felt discriminated against as a women buying a drink for herself, because the bartender and manager assumed each time the drink was for my boyfriend. My ID was repeatedly checked and I was told twice that I would be kicked out if he takes a sip of my drink (they didn't accept his passport as ID, we're both 25). I felt uncomfortable like I was constantly being watched, because every time I looked up I could see a bartender eyeing me. I got tired of the harassment and left. read more

This had been one of the worst customer services I have ever received. We weren't properly explained how their All activity passes worked and when we were told we only had to purchase ONE pass and just had to buy the shoes so we thought we were fine. When I returned to the counter to ask some lady in a red shirt (clearly in a higher position than the other workers in blue shirts) she rudely told us that we had to purchase other passes and purchase the shoes. I said okay cool I guess we didn't understand. As one of our members from our group was handing in the paper to reserve the lane she told her something and our member got physically upset and started crying and left the location of how upset she was. I ended up getting the manager and had to explain to him what happened and while we were talking to him she clearly had a BITCH face of how upset she was. Yes I understand that you have your bad days but leave all your problems at home or at the door. I work in the service industry and I usually don't let many things bother me, so for me to ACTUALLY WRITE A REVIEW something horrible actually had to be wrong. I didn't get anyone's names but the manager "seemed" like he was going to handle the issue and I guess that's okay but still no one in a higher position in ANY Industry should act like that, never coming back. We went on a Sunday at 11:30 am. We were offered the $7.99 Unlimited bowling deal, thinking this was a great idea, we went ahead and went for it. There was 6 of us total, we all ordered food and drinks and were having a good time. The food and drinks were really good! Not to mention, our server was incredible as well and tried to help us with this problem we faced later. We then realized that our "hour" was almost up. I went up to add another hour and we were told we had to give the lane up for someone else. This was fine. I was a little annoyed because I had not been told that it was going to be in hour increments. We were then put on a "waitlist", which again, if I would have known that we were on a time crunch, I would have put my name on the list earlier. They assured me that it should be no longer than 20 minutes until I am able to be at another lane. After 20 minutes, I go back to the front and they let me know I was next in line. I waited about 30 more minutes before I was able to be seated and bowling again for one hour. After that, it just got crazy busy and there was no way that we could have bowled again for at least 2-3 hours. Not that I would be back again, but unlimited bowling is not worth it. Just make a reservation for 2-3 hours and pay the difference. read more

Of course spending $100 to play games and get tickets for $1 worth of candy is expected. But that aside...Saturday night and the place is packed. They have ONE person working the booth where you exchange your tickets AND get laser tag and gravity tickets. Every trash can is overflowing, bathroom is filthy and trash cans overflowing. No paper towels. Dirty cups and dishes are EVERYWHERE. We ate in the restaurant first, service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for our appetizer which was just chips and salsa and then our entrees came out about 3 minutes after. We had to flag down our waiter anytime we needed something (including a pen to sign the dang check) as he wasn't paying any sort of attention to us at all. Tried to have a fun night out with the family. Should've stayed home with Netflix and pizza! read more

Great place and family friendly for all ages. The reason of giving two stars - SERVICE SUCKS! I came back for the second time to give it a chance and for you to order a drink at the bar area... You have to get someone yourself. Sat at the table for a good 20 min before I gave up and called someone myself. I don't know if they are short hand or just no customer service skills. It was our first time coming to main event. We were well greeted by each individual we encountered. We also had a great waiter by the name of Kylie. Came here for the first time for a niece's bday party. Guess you can say it's like a Dave & Busters/Palladium Theater for kiddos. Can be pretty chaotic, but I hear they are pretty organized when it comes to birthday parties. They make sure all the kids are on a set schedule for each event (ie laser tag, bowling, lunch). I like that adults are able to enjoy some drinks and bowling as well. I'm not sure how much bowling was, but from what I hear it sounds a little expensive. read more

I bowl a lot many place I've been to have options to pay per game or pay per hour. To me, there are times that I need to take my time to practice and I really do not want to rush. Unfortunately, Main Event does not have the pay per game option. All they care is to rush you in and out the game so they can get your money - they don't really care about whether you enjoy your game or not. After went to Main Event couple times, I headed to Time Square and I've been going to there ever since. Time Square has the option pay per game and pay per hour. Pay per game would let me enjoy my games and practice. I would not recommend Main Event if you come to bowl and relax, have drinks and don't want to rush in and out. read more
