I booked a large birthday party here and there were some pros and cons. I have never done anything like this before, so it was all new to me. Pros: - Making reservations was easy and the staff was really helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. I asked a lot of questions because I've never booked a birthday party like this at Main Event, or anywhere in general. - We got a party host to help transition and communicate with us throughout the 3 hours we were there. This helped because she kept us up to date about our rooms. She even carried our cakes, party favors, and gifts to our room while we were bowling. - She was also very sweet, patient, and kind. She never had an annoyed or frustrated look on her face. She did things with a smile the entire time! - Probably because we had a large party, but we had our meal in a private room, instead of one of those long tables. This made it more intimate, spacious, relaxing, and quiet. It also helped keep the kids together because there were 20 of them! - The sliders, fries, and fruit (we had orange slices) is the biggest bang for your buck in my opinion. The fries were amazing! They were the perfectly salted and crispy. The sliders were a tad dry and really needed condiments. However, I was glad that they had another option besides pizza. - During cake time, our party host provided a lighter and even cut the cakes for us. - We were provided lockers to store the gifts so we didn't have to carry it around during the arcade time. - The three hours of activities and food combination was the perfect amount of time. The 500 VIP points was also helpful so my boys could grab something from the store to make their birthday a little more special. My boys and their friends had a LOT of fun! Cons: - We only had one party host to accommodate 30+ people, so you can imagine how slow service was at times. She did the best she could, but I think having another person would have helped. We had unlimited drinks, so she was constantly getting our drink orders. I was so thirsty at one point, but felt so bad for her that I didn't even ask for water. - We had 1 hour of bowling before we headed to the private room for food. I think it would have been easier and better if it was fully supplied. There were no napkins, utensils, or condiments. The pizza was already there and we were just waiting on the sliders, fries, and fruit. Once the first set of sliders and fries came, we started to serve with our hands and used plates as tongs to grab the fries. It wasn't until several minutes later when the second set of sliders/fries came that tongs arrived. - Also, the party package said that there would be condiments on the side, but nothing was provided. We had to ask for ketchup twice before it came. I think to make things easier, the party host should have been provided a rolling cart to carry multiple things so she didn't have to keep running back and forth. Also, Main Event should really consider providing pitchers of water/drinks so we can serve ourselves. It would have been a lot faster and more efficient. - The math wasn't mathing when it came to the sliders. I paid for 18 kids, but we got 32 sliders. So either we got extra sliders, or we were missing 4 sliders. In the end it didn't matter because the amount of food was enough. - We are not allowed to bring outside food so we HAD to purchase extra food for the parents. We got three pizzas and it was so expensive! It was basically $60. - I did not anticipate having to pay for service fees/tip. I wasn't angry about tipping my party host. I think she did the best she could and deserved a tip. I was just surprised about the service fee and felt put on the spot about tipping. Like I said, I've never done this before. Basically it made everything about $100 more expensive. *The cons are mainly because of the price and hiccups we had during our time of eating.* Overall, the place is super expensive. $17.99 a kid is not bad in general because it includes 1 hour of activity, food, and $10 play card. However, it does add up quickly when hosting for a birthday party. I think it would be more reasonable if the price went down if you have more than 10 kids or something. What makes it incredibly expensive in the end is the service fee, tip, and having to pay for extra food. I think for the price you pay, the service could be a lot better and more organized. This is speaking in general, and nothing against our party host specifically. The place was PACKED when we went. However, since the place is gigantic, it wasn't that crowded when you walked around, which was nice. If anything, it added to the fun and festivities. In the end, my boys had a great time and so did their friends. I didn't have to clean or cook, so that took away a great deal of stress as a mom. Would I ever do this again? Probably not, unless there was an amazing deal going on. read more

I went to Main Event with my little cousins to play some bowling. Proves for bowling varies depending on the day and time. For 5 people at around 6:30 we paid about $40 for one hour. It is definitely on the pricey side since there are places that are cheaper. Bowling shoes are not included so you will have to pay around $4-5. It was a good experience overall and we had fun. Full bar was nice and TVs to watch sports while your kids play. One thing, too many staff by bar waiting tables and got overlooked constantly waiting for them to check on us and walking by us. Other members, there were more than needed, should help each other out and even ask a table that is not theirs, if the client is looking around with an empty glass for 15 minutes...."Do you need anything?" Once I payed my bill my guests wanted additional service but server left us 100% after I payed $100 plus 20% tip. Once you pay they don't check on you even if you look like you need something. I went today with my friends it was so fun! The food was good, the bowling was good but one lane did malfunction occasionally. I went on the gravity ropes as well and the workers there, Elliot and Daniella were so kind and funny! I hosted a large party at Main Event. The poor rating is solely a reflection on the Manager, Amanda Friedman. I would never host another event here and wouldn't recommend it. The rating does not reflect on the young people that worked the party. They were phenomenal, kind and accommodating with the number of guests. Alternatively, Amanda is wholly incompetent. I organized the party months in advance and Amanda was disorganized, unresponsive, and aloof. I raised concerns early on about disorganization, communication, and payment errors and asked Amanda to get off her butt and get it together, which she blew off. She's lucky she doesn't work for my business or she would have been fired yesterday. This led to chaos for the employees and guests and embarrassment for me. Unacceptable considering the amount of money spent. In hindsight, I should have cancelled and hosted someplace more accommodating. I will gladly take my large events to an establishment with a manager that is capable of basic guest service. Food was great, service wasn't. We went bowling here a few weeks ago and it was really easy to order food, but I ordered a milkshake that never came out, and when I asked the server to cancel it, we didn't say anything and walked away. After that it seemed like he was avoiding our group, which was really bizarre. He eventually came around to give us the check and he had removed the milkshake from the order and he told us that apparently he was the only person working for the whole floor? Or at least the whole bowling section. Either way, the food was delicious and so were the drinks. It was really easy to split the checks by item, too. The bowling itself was also very fun. They have a great special going on where kids 15 and under can bowl for free (you have to purchase bowling shoes) they also have a deal if you buy a $20 game card you get $20 free (which I bought) The place is spacious and clean. About 20 lanes for bowling. A sitting area and a bar for food and drinks. My daughter ordered the cotton candy Shirley temple (she loved it ) we also ordered the loaded fries and a kid's pizza. All were yummy! Everyone working was nice and helpful although it did take some time for a server to come to our table to take our order (about 20 minutes) but we still enjoyed ourselves Thank you to David who helped set up our bowling and our server Ian who served our food and drinks! read more

Your typical main event. Bowling, laser tag and arcades. I grabbed a drink with my wife at the bar while waiting for our lane to be open while the kids hit the arcade up. They have a feature at the bowling lanes that lets you take a picture and use it as the background to your scores. I thought it was a nice touch. Laser tag was fun. The kids made me join and luckily a few other parents did too so I could be proud of absolutely crushing everyone with my top score lol I'm not in Katy often but if you are it's a great place to take the family read more

We had a wonderful birthday party, until they ran out of pancakes and half the kids had to sit and watch the other half eat while the host spent 5+ minutes getting more. Yes, we rsvp'd the correct number of kids. Then, the craft they were to facilitate was laid out on a random table and when we were brought the check after everyone left, the party host told us she put them there. We had no idea. The 1000 points for being the birthday boy were not on the card and he spent 15 minutes waiting for an attendant and then waiting for him to add the points. Had I not been there to speak up he would not have gotten the points. When ready to leave I had to find the host to ask for the check. It took over 10 minutes to run the card to pay out, and, without notification, the card I gave our host was handed to someone else who handed it to someone else who left it unattended by the register. To top it off, our host neglected to give us our gifts that were "safely locked up." 10 minutes after we left, my husband shared that he was glad I got the gifts. When we realized no one was given the gifts, we called. A man answered after the third phone call (it just rings and then starts the menu of options over again) and told me he was going to get the gifts, call me back to be sure he had everything, then lock them up for us to pick up. He did secure the gifts and confirmed 2 packages and 1 card with gift card and a visa gift card without a card. My husband and son went back to pick them up the following day and while the actual gifts were there, the birthday card with gift card inside and the visa gift card were both missing. They gave him his free ice cream and 1000 points as a result. Checked in with the friends and they shared that the gift cards were each for $30. Main Event said they would reach out and took my information. Haven't heard back. Wish I wouldn't have tipped the "host." For context- our group of kids is very well-mannered and parents keep a close eye on their own kids, very low maintenance. If you throw a birthday party here be sure to put the gifts in your car immediately, there are thieves among the staff. Also, don't assume the host will be prepared or helpful. After spending 45 minutes talking to multiple employees, my husband relaying the situation over and over, and giving all of my contact information I don't think I should have to jump through even more hoops as a result of poor customer service. I will not fill out the form and I will be sure to spread the word of what to expect with a party at Main Event at baseball, scouts, in my moms group, and our large elementary school. read more

Not to be confused with the Maine Event, which is when I play a concert up in Bar Harbor or Bangor. Wow. ME is such a very cool place for kids (and I don't mean the state but that's lovely too), they can spend hours here going wild and playing around and having lots of fun. It would get a five star if the prices were a little cheaper or if the service were a little better, but in terms of how much fun kids can have here, it's definitely nothing short of a five. Hard to explain just how much there is here, there's always a lot going on and it's always well worth having a trip here, just ask my nephew who likes it "way more than the trampolines!", and I recommend having a party here if there are little ones involved, especially of the 4-to-12 variety. read more

We got a birthday package that came with 3 hours of unlimited play, 1 laser tag session and 2 virtual reality games. Laser tag was a hit, they wanted another game! It was a busy day for my big family, and Trinity went above and beyond to help us with our bowling lanes and bowling shoes, ensuring everyone was happy. When we had a little incident and spilled water, Trinity was quick to assist us, and got it all mopped up after we asked someone else and had been waiting for 45 MINUTES . This is my second time coming to Main Event in Katy and the food definitely does not disappoint. My husband and I are wings people so we got "The Wing Platter". The wings were nice and crispy and the fries were actually quite amazing. I hands down will take Main Event fries over Wing Stops any day any time. Only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because we waited in line for over 20mins before we were acknowledged by the front desk host. I came here with the kiddos on a day the school was out and we were looking for something to do as a family. They had a deal going for all you can play for $19.99 per person and thought that was a really good deal. The all you can play comes with bowling, this rope course where kids can be harnessed and walk across these ropes that's placed up high, and laser tag. You have to make sure the first thing you do is sign up for bowling (sign up is at the front register) because there's usually a long wait and you have to be on a sign up sheet to get in line. Bowling usually has a 45-60 minute wait time. So while you sign up and wait for bowling, you can take the kids to sign up and play for laser tag or the ropes course (sign up is at the area where you turn your tickets in for prizes). The wait time is usually shorter for that. So while we were waiting for bowling we signed up to do laser tag and that was probably the only disappointment we had there. Their equipments need to be updated because I found most of the laser guns weren't working at all. We did laser tag 2x and both times either my laser gun, my daughter or my nephew's laser gun wasn't working. The kids ended up not wanting to play anymore because it isn't fun when your laser gun isn't working. We notified the attendant and they didn't seem to help, just asked for us to switch out equipments and even when we did that it wasn't working! But the kids seemed to enjoy the ropes course and the arcade. Arcade games weren't part of the all you can play package, but the games are reasonably priced and affordable. You do have to pay for a card and put money into the card to redeem points to play. They texted us when it was our turn for bowling and we got to play one round of blowing. It's timed for an hour so it was enough for us to be able to order the food, eat and play. Towards the end we did have one frame each left and we asked the front if we can have a little more time so we can finish our game, and they have us 5 more minutes. Staff there are friendly and attentive. Although the laser tag was a bit disappointing, the $19.99 is still a good deal considering because we could still do the bowling and ropes course. There's pool tables and shuffle board there, but the kids weren't interested in playing that...not too sure if that comes with the all you can play package, but I wouldn't see why not. read more

Irate business is different depending on where I am. What I mean is that just because this is five stars does that mean they have the greatest food or the greatest anything individually.. The main event is a very entertaining and fun place. The staff does a great job, all around, to make your experience as pleasurable as possible.. The pizza was hot, the milkshakes are sweet creamy and delicious and the donuts were deep fried with chocolate sauce, I know how can anyone messed that up? We came here for a fun time out with family as we were visiting from Las Vegas. We arrived , checked in, and were told the wait was 1.5hours because we wanted three lanes together. Fine. We killed time by getting food and exploring the area. The time elapsed and we were getting aimless so we checked the status, but were told that it would be an ADDITIONAL hour. This was not okay. We were okay with waiting 1.5 hours to get lanes together and bowl as a family but not 2.5 hours. We wish someone would've been transparent about the real wait upfront when we arrived so we didn't waste our time or money on mediocre food and mediocre drinks. There were no apologies made whatsoever by staff as to why we were told a different wait time or if something had gotten mixed up with our reservation.
