The lady's were very friendly however I had a fill done by tina and had a very sloppy out come the acrylic was left all over my fingers and around my cuticle.. Got a mani (gel) and pedi from Rose. Super sweet. Love that she is specific and takes her time. I have gone to other salons where they rush and your nails do not come out right. It's also clean and they have a large selection of colors and brands. They are also open long hours which is a plus. read more

This establishemnt is near my office so I come here every two weeks for a full set or a fill and a pedicure. KATHY does my acrylics and she is the best! She pays attentions to detail and always satisfies my picky requests to make my nails thin and natural looking. I always get complimented on my nails and they last so long. The products they use are good quality so you won't get air bubbles after one week. I've had my pedicure done by many of the ladies and they are all really good and clean. I have only good things to say about Magical Nails. I've known and been going to Kathy for the last 18 years. My daughter was 10 when i started and since she was 18 she's been going to Vickie and Tammy. I've tried many other nail salons closer to home (we drive from Pomona) but nothing ever compared to the results i got from Kathy for my nails and Rosie for my pedicure. So we continue to fight the traffic every two weeks because i believe there is no other that compare to Magical Nails, Kathy, Rosie, Vickie and Tammy. Second time I come here and both times have been horrible. I'm not even going to get into it about my first time but this last time I show up early before work, yelp and their door says they open at 9 I get there right at 9 but wait a lil that way they have time to set up and open so I go at 9:07 &to my surprise no one is there it's still closed and it's dark inside so I was like ok I'll go back to my car and wait then I see two ladies show up at 9:10 after another couple minutes I go in and some lady sits me down I tell her I just want to take off my nails that's all and then she says oh Ull have to go with this other lady I continue to follow this other lady and tell her that all I want is to take my nails off and then she says oh Ull have to wait for this other lady but she has an appt and u will be after that since ur a walk in....? What? At this point there's like 5 ladies in their little break room and not ONE could take off my nails? I was so upset that no one even offered to soak my nails to help take em off. So after waiting a couple minutes I got up and left. It irritates me that they couldn't do such an easy job. Never coming back first ur late at opening and now no one can take off nails. Lynn is far more than an exceptional manicurist; she is a remarkably talented artist. I have challenged her many times to create unique designs for my nails and, in every case, she has exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't go to anyone else. But, please be aware that I'm not the only customer that feels this way, and her talents are in great demand. I'm super picky with my acrylics due to if not done properly they tend to lift within a week & start cracking which by the way leads to fungus due to moisture getting trapped underneath. However, since I found Kathy I've been beyond happy!!! She does such an amazing job that I can keep an original set after about four to five fills when before three was the max due to cheap material elsewhere. They don't have the fancy massage chairs for pedicures, but they take their time & are very thorough. Gel nail polish is the way to go because it last much longer without chipping & always stays shiny. For the past 12+ years, Kathy is the ONLY manicurist that I allow to do my nails! I'm in sales and my hands are my tools. I teach dance and my feet are also my tools. They need to be professional (for work) and pretty (for me!) AT ALL TIMES! Everyone there knows me as being VERY PICKY... and I challenge Kathy to create nice artwork for me. She rarely disappoints. I've built great rapport with her. I get THE BEST compliments all over town from friends and business associates alike! Worse location !!! No massage chairs. Just the foot bucket with the last wrap... They charge you the same price as a regular location. Good luck coming in on a Friday... I came here at 7 for a pedicure before they closed. 1 star for staying open until 8pm. Another one for not making me wait. They dont have pedicure chairs and give pedicures in the water boxes (idk about everyone else, but i prefer the spa chairs). The pedicure lasted for 15 minutes!! and the nail polish is extremely cheap, the selection sucks. I honestly think ill be getting another pedicure in a few days elsewhere.. Even though I went around 6:30 on a Friday it was a little bit busy and usually when I go to other nail salons there is either no wait or less than five minutes. I've been going to Magical Nails in Downey for almost 10 years. Helen is my go to person for a fill and Kim and Rosie for a pedi. Helen is the only technician that I know that actually does prep maintenance. She checks for lifting and such. Both Kim and Rosie give a great hand massage of the legs and feet with the pedi. Kathy, the co-owner (front right) is often curt and rude without provocation. Seems the other techs are afraid of her. I have been going here ever since they opened in 2000. Lisa (the owner) is sweet and gives the BEST acrylic job ever. Nancy is my go-to girl for pedicures; my toes are very difficult and she always gets them just perfect. We moved out of state, and every time we come back to the OC for a visit, going to Magical Nails is a priority on our to-do list. The spa chair and pampering is far superior to any service I get in my new state of Arizona and SO much better than any of the other salons in the OC that I visited before finding Magical Nails. I really cannot understand any reviews that are less than top, because I am picky, picky, picky and (even after all these years!) find that the service and atmosphere to be top notch. Don't get me wrong the lady Vicky that did my full set did a good job but she put my cuticles through hell by continually going over them with the drill file. I told her she was hurting me and she didn't even say sorry she just pulled on my hand. Then she got mad because I changed my mind about getting Matted colored nails.
