I love the staff at Starlight nails. I first met them at their last shop in Temple City near my house and they've always done a beautiful job! I've been having Tina do my gel manicure and she does such an amazing job EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! Her attention to detail, gentle manicure style and painting precision are unmatched! That's why I followed them to Thor new spot here in Pico Rivera. Also the shop is always clean and the pricing is very fair. They have a huge selection of top quality colors and chromes. Kody and staff are all always very nice to me!

I've been a loyal client of Kody and Mai for over 16 years, ever since they opened their very first salon in the San Fernando Valley. I've followed them to their second location and now to their beautiful salon at Starlight because they're simply the best. That should tell you everything--you don't stay with a nail salon for 16 years unless they're consistently amazing. I even drive from Palmdale, and now that I spend time in San Francisco, I still make it a point to come back whenever I can because no one else compares. Kody and Mai have built an incredible team. Tina, Ana, and Mai are all exceptionally talented and take so much pride in their work. Whether I'm getting a manicure, pedicure, or full set, they are always meticulous, gentle, and pay attention to every little detail. Their work is beautiful, long-lasting, and the salon is always clean and welcoming. What keeps me coming back year after year isn't just the quality of their work--it's the people. Kody and Mai truly care about their clients, and they've created such a warm, friendly environment. They treat everyone like family, and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. I've followed Mai and Tina for more than 15 years, and their work is truly in a league of its own. Beyond their talent, their customer care is unmatched. Tina is a gem--my husband has sensory sensitivities regarding his feet, and Tina is the only person he trusts because of how supportive and accommodating she is. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, last minute cancellations like this are highly inconvenient and disruptive. What makes this situation frustrating is the strict enforcement of the company's cancellation policy, which charges customers a 50% fee when canceling less than 24hrs in advance. It is only fair that the same level of accountability be upheld on both sides. Customers are expected to respect the policy, and in return, the business should demonstrate the same consideration and reliability. Not be compensated with a $5 discount. When if I had canceled the appointment would have been charged $30. Experiencing this issue more than once concerns me about their consistency and professionalism. I hope improvements are made to better manage scheduling or compensation.

One thing that really stuck with me was seeing him work on his own birthday. Instead of taking the day off, he came in with a smile, took care of his clients, and made sure everyone left happy. That says a lot about the kind of person and professional he is. He's also a perfectionist in the best way possible. He constantly checks in throughout the appointment, asking if you love your nails. If something isn't exactly how you envisioned it, he'll gladly fix it until you're completely happy. He truly stands behind his work. A few months ago, I injured my hands and thought my natural nails were beyond saving. Tyn suggested switching to builder gel and simply told me, "Trust the process." I'm so glad I listened. Three months later, my natural nails are healthier and stronger than they've ever been. I used to be one of those "every two weeks" girls, but he always laughs and tells me, "Come on, I love you, but two weeks is too soon!" That's just how well his work holds up. The salon itself is always spotless, welcoming, and relaxing. The music is always on point, the sangria is a nice little treat, and every appointment honestly feels like a mini vacation instead of just another nail appointment. Everyone at Onyx is wonderful, but I also have to give a special shout-out to Myly Cyrus. She's the sweetest "cute auntie" and the absolute best when it comes to ingrown nail removal. She makes something uncomfortable feel easy. Onyx Nail Lounge is nothing like your typical nail chop shop. They care about the health of your nails, they care about their clients, and they take pride in every service they provide. That's hard to find these days. The first time I came after getting my nails done the nail tech mentioned how I can come in 1-2 weeks to get a refill on my nails. When I came the second time for the refill the person stated that I could not do a refill and that instead I needed to do a completely new set. I am upset that the nail tech lied to me. Never coming to this place again I do not like when the nail tech told me one thing and then charged differently. It is a very predatory tactic. Highly disappointed with my experience. Also for me they put something on my feet and it burned. One of my toes was left with a burn mark. The nail tech also didn't really understand English so it took her awhile to take off the product so I had to dip my foot inside so I wouldn't burn the rest of my toes.

I've been coming here since they switched ownership at this location in April and to say as a male Mai (the owner) make this place very welcoming, Mai always makes sure that you're getting taken care of as well as offering waters and really good candies. I had came in for pedicure but I asked if they worked with ingrowns and she set me up right away with Tina which was amazing. She did an awesome job with taking care of them without hurting me I could not stop thanking her! She left my toes looking fresh and clean! I haven't gotten a pedicure done from anyone else or anywhere else she really knows her stuff! I also do come for manicures every other week and I'd say everybody here does a good job taking care of me with that. I'd also recommend their scrub they have for both hands and feet it works really good for dry skin just a personal opinion. But overall 5 STARS!!! After having a TERRIBLE experience at another nail salon last month, I decided to come here because it's down the street from my house and because it had so many positive reviews. I came in asking them to remove the gel and dip that the other place butchered. The lady removed it with ease and pain- free! I usually dread going to salons to get anything removed because it always hurts. After the removal, she gave me a manicure. It was the best manicure I've ever had lol only because they always cut or burn me at other places.
