Dined with a large party, which the restaurant can easily accommodate. We had several appetizers with the burrata e prosciutto di parma being the standout. The calamari fritti served with a spicy aioli was also very good. For the main, I had the chicken exquisita served over butternut squash ravioli, and added a side of bacon and cider Brussels sprouts. We came back here to celebrate a birthday and it was a blast. We had 12 in our party and the service was great. Carla helped us set it all up and we were able to bring in a cake that they cut for us at no additional charge. Morgan was our server all night and she was great. Super friendly and helpful. Everyone had a great time. The restaurant was nice and open. There's a large bar to the left when you come in with TVs to watch games. The bartender (Stephanie) was making great drinks all night for our table too. We ordered a couple appetizers to start (antipasto platter and calamari). Have been to Magia a few times now. Usually for special occasions such as birthday, Thanksgiving or Easter. Food is always good and service is excellent. For Easter had the rack of lamb and it was very well done. Great flavor and they happily substituted Brussels sprouts for the sweet potatoes. Overall a very good meal in a nice atmosphere even if the dining room is a bit loud but that is due to people talking versus music. read more

This was our first time here and the decor was nice and looked like it would be a nice and romantic place to have dinner. But the bar side was so loud that I couldn't hear my wife that was right next to me and the waitress had to ask us to repeat things several times. The wait staff was very good and the bus boy worked his butt off. 6/10= Bread was a sourdough and was just ok. Would have liked to have butter with it. 8.9/10= Chicken fettuccine Alfredo was great. This place was so bad I thought we were being pranked. I also have lost all confidence in reviews as the positive reviews cant be anything other than paid for. This sounds hyperbolic, believe me I wish it was. -The drinks were lazy and uninspired, just flavored vodka mixed with juice. College comes to mind -The appetizers (meatballs and arancini's) were room temperature when they arrived. -Most of the food was utterly tasteless. -The tomato sauce tasted like the Ragu jarred brand at the grocery store. -The pasta came out of a box -The only dish with flavor was the eggplant parmesan which tasted like old fry oil. Literally, could not taste anything except the fry oil. -I tested myself for covid when I got home (neg) and ate some food just to verify my tastebuds were intact. I am not sure if this restaurant went the Sysco route and just reheats/fry's frozen food now but do not stop, just keep driving. The staff were nice, service prompt, ambiance ok, food was so bad my wife and I had second hand embarrassment. We barely touched the food and left without complaint. I recently had a private function down stairs in the Giacomo Room at Magia for 50 people. The room was clean and very well decorated for our party. Carla and her staff did an amazing job of serving our every need from start to finish. The food, and its presentation, was outstanding. The bar was well stocked with anything we could have wanted. We also had a wide array of appetizers that were all delicious. All this , and the prices were more than fair, especially for the quality of the food and personal service. Went in for dinner and sat at the bar on a very rainy Monday early evening. Not many people in, which is what I expected. We had a few mixed drinks, had the calamari app with some good bread and oil. Almost didn't go here because of other yelp reviews...So very glad we did! We were greeted promptly and cheerfully by the hostess. There was a great jazz group in the bar but we opted for the dining room so we could chill and converse. The Italian specialties drew us in and it was hard to choose, but we chose the ravioli: lobster ravioli and chicken exquisito served over butternut squash ravioli. The pasta in both dishes was plump and fresh. The lobster ravioli had loads of lobster meat in the ravioli and the sauce. The chicken exquisito was also a very generous portion with tender chicken medallions topped with prosciutto and on bed of butternut squash ravioli. The marsala wine sauce was flavored well to complement the dish and we enjoyed every bit of both sauces thanks to the crusty Italian bread basket. We couldn't complete our delightful meal without dessert! We found the flourless chocolate cake to be a nice balance of sweet and creamy. Giving it a two out of five because the manager at least did come over and apologize that the food was freezing cold on Mother's Day. Brought my family here sat near the bar side, we went to the bar while we were waiting for our parents because nobody came over to our table to grab our drinks for my sister and I. The blonde bartender made a great martini.. I got chicken, broccoli and ziti came out freezing cold. My sister's food was warmed up just a tad. My parents chicken Marcella was absolutely freezing so when the waitress came to check up on us again after 20 minutes, they changed it to chicken piccata watch came out definitely hot, but not the tastiest. We normally take them here every year for special occasions, but unfortunately, Mother's Day was our last time here. The manager came over and apologized, which was nice. However, the bill came out. It was still $200 and not one of us enjoyed our meals.. very unfortunate. Still, of course, tipped the server over $40 because it was not her fault and she did have a great personality. read more

Went here with my husband and 2 friends. Our first time here and we were impressed with the spacious inside area decorated for the holiday in tasteful manner. Our server, Christina P, was very pleasant and attentive. We shared a beautiful antipasto platter which was colorful and tasty with Italian meats, cheese, roasted peppers, brined red onion, artichoke hearts, marinated mushrooms and eggplant. And since our friends were from Ontario, we showed them what calamari RI style was all about. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Our Canadian friends had Frutti Di Marre as an entree and enjoyed it although one of them commented that some pickers, crackers and a bin might've been helpful. Even though the tail was open, there's still a little splash back that landed on her shirt. My husband had the chicken piccata over pasta. He felt although good, the dish would have benefitted from more sauce since the pasta greedily absorbed much of it. I had the chicken exquisito and it was delicious. Great flavor of balsamic and butternut squash raviolis. For dessert our companions had the lemon sorbet to cool off from the spiciness if the shellfish. Magia's is always consistent and delicious. Great Italian cooking! Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I've tried many things on the menu and have liked them all very much. The only dish I was not fond of was the lobster mac & cheese, the cheese sauce is just too cheesy, it's not like a baked mac & cheese it's a white very cheesy sauce. Very generous with the lobster but tastes like a very cheesy Alfredo sauce. We always look forward to going back and trying something new!! read more

11/22/2025 We had reservations. Our table was in the hallway behind the fireplace. We were seated @ 6:30. Water only. Asked numerous times for a drink besides water. Got up several times for service, ignored. At 7:15 I was going to leave. Order taken at 7:30. Onion rings were soggy and cold. Sent back. 8:00 arrived, very good. Order taken. Still no drinks. The Manager finally got us oil and butter for the bread. Manager apologized and checked on us. We had better service from the bus boys. He would attempt to get the waitress and manager. When they didn't have what I wanted. The waitress slammed the menu on the table, "Order something else, and walked away." The Manager was well aware of this! 8:30 Order was taken classic pizza with ricotta; pasta fazul soup, chicken parmesan. Still no drinks but water. Soup was cold; sent back. The pasta was cold but the chicken parmesan was hot and tasty. I did NOT sent the dish back. Still no drinks and no bread refill. How difficult is it to get a glass of Coke and ice tea? We asked for more but No refills were given. The fireplace was turned off and it got cold. The Manager did turn on the fire place flames. At this time, the restaurant had 4 tables of people and the bar was crowded. No excuse for lack of service!! I had to track down the waitress [short blonde hair] for another cup of coffee. 2nd cup was cold. I was NOT charged for the cheesecake and coffee. First time and the last. Definitely NOT like Boston. Went there on a Saturday evening @ 6:30 pm. Good crowd but not full. We had reservations, so we were seated quickly. Eventually, that place filled out to capacity. We had a appetizer fried calamari it was excellent. I ordered shrimp & scallop fra diavolo!!! It was delicious! Good size portion, unlike North end restaurants. Boston restaurants should learn that pasta is inexpensive and don't be cheap about it. We got north end quality food, without paying north end prices!!! I had tried the swordfish and I tried the scallops over the pasta. Fantastic! The coffee is amazing I dont drink hot coffee rarely but their coffee is so good after a meal 2 small cups I am happy. Had been in the area for an event and wanted something "Different", was out with my mother (No kids, so we wanted something that didn't have gum under the table, LOL) Ever since this changed over from Calitri's I wanted to try it. So the place was somewhat empty when we arrived so I wasn't sure if that was a good sign or bad sign. Was seated and right away am digging the vibe, super clean, bright open space. Music is fitting of the environment, it just went well!! Waitress is great, super personable, and giving me pointers and suggestions and just really good at her job! We ordered the octopus app (I had recently put my mom on to the Grilled octopus) and it arrives and it was a super let down, we thought it was going to be an actual piece of octopus grilled, this was all shaved/sliced soo thin you couldn't even taste the octopus, it was drowned in the dressing. Got the mussels, didn't love the broth on them, The tomato just wasn't for me. Mom got the pork chop (she had been craving a big, Steak house type pork chop and not many places have them on the menu anymore) and this was ok she said, but smothered in the vinegar and just not what she was expecting and she stated it was overpowering. I got the Shrimp Risotto, OMG - this saved the meal, this was sooo good, I mean its risotto, you really cant mess it up but the flavor was out of this world! This week I went to Magia Restaurant & Bar located on 126 Newbury St, Danvers For drinks we had their Green with Envywhich contained Hendricks Gin, mint, cucumber, St. Germain and lime. We also tried their On Blackberry Hill tequila drink which contained Casamigos Blanco tequila, chambord, blackberry soda, triple sec and mint. Both cocktails were soooo delicious! If cocktails aren't your thing then they have a plethora of wine to choose from as well! For appetizers we had their Antipasto della Casa which was an array of meats and cheeses including prosciutto, roasted red peppers, crimini mushrooms, pickled red onion, pickled eggplant to name a few. We also had their beet salad and fried oysters (my personal favorite!). For entrees there was so much to choose from! We had their pappardelle bolognese which was a traditional meat ragu pasta. The gnocchi spezzatino (my personal favorite!) with sautéed veal, shiitake mushrooms, capers and sundried tomatoes. The frutti di mare which had a variety of seafood including Lobster, clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp, clam purée and linguine. Good luck trying to eat all this in one sitting! Finally, the chicken milanese which consisted of lemon caper sauce, roasted tomatoes and arugula salad. Now if you arent stuffed already from reading this wait till you hear about dessert. For dessert we had an oreo cheesecake , chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato (my personal favorite!) , an espresso and a cappuccino to top it off! This place does not skimp out on portions so be sure to unbutton your pants or get that doggy bag ready to take home. Also, the ambiance in here is beautiful (fireplace/chandeliers ). Be sure to check out their entertainment and dinner specials on their website in case you are looking for a venue for an upcoming event! There is a reason why this place is on the best of the North shore list. Also, as an FYI you can always trust an Italian spot that has portaits of their family throughout the restaurant. The owner was screaming at a hostess in front of a bar -- it was abusive, humiliating, and beyond unprofessional. I've had many interactions with this hostess and she has always been wonderful: friendly, polite, and great at her job. To see her berated like that was disgusting. We ordered haddock Masala, a tasty sauce and sliced white mushrooms. pizza with figs and prosciutto, topped also with balsamic reduction and fresh basil. Pizza had a light chewiness and bit of crisp. Much more interesting, in a good way, than most pizzerias. A green salad of romaine leaves, tomatoes, cuke & red onion. Penne with delicious w vodka sauce. Eggplant rotelli with a light creamy ricotta, everyone loved that. Dishes prepared and served thoughtfully. Fresh chewy bread with olive oil and parm cheese on the table. I've only had dinner here twice. I absolutely love chicken Marsala. The first time I had the Marsala it was excellent!!! We came here on Labor Day weekend with family and friends. Four out of the six people had chicken. All four of us were unhappy with the chicken as it was overcooked and chewy. My mother-in-law complained. The server had new chicken cooked for her. The rest of us had filled up on appetizers and had to catch a 4 a.m. flight. Eventually, I plan to give the chicken Marsala another chance. The drinks were good.
