April 17, 2026 I…read morewent with my parents tonight to the Adriatic Restaurant (Washington Street), Salem, MA. We've started having dinner out twice a month and this was the most recent experience. I had gone online to the NORTH SHORE DINNING PAGE on Facebook and asked people about their experiences with the restaurant in the last two days and here's what people said: "great, tender meatballs", "great eggplant parmigiana", "very good experience". .... And what we found out is that they were right. Those things were all true! Now.... As to what we ordered: I got the grilled octopus. It was the only partial miss on the menu. Arugula just doesn't make a very good sauce and it was a pretty bad base for what would otherwise might have been a great appetizer. My mother got the Caesar salad. It was good. It's a hard thing to screw up. My father ordered the meatballs. They were amazing and delicious - just like Facebook promised. The tzatziki sauce was good. Maybe not as good as mine, but good nonetheless. So dinner.... Mine was the Chicken Saltimboca. It was so good that I'd bathe in the sauce they make with it. I loved eating forkfuls of the chicken with bites of the mashed potatoes. That was really luxuriant. My mother had the Eggplant parmigiana and she wiped out the entire plate. She loved it. My father.... Beef tenderloin tips. Maybe cooked slightly too much, but delicious. He wiped out the plate. To drink.... I was out of the hospital and recovering from brain tumor surgery, so I had the hard cider (3.5% BV), my father had the Peroni (Italian) beer, and my mother had the Bud light. I tasted the Peroni and liked it very much. The hard cider had almost no sweetness to it. It was dry as a higher end brut champagne.... Which actually set off the meal really nicely. My tastes weren't clashing and that was good. Our waiter, Sean, was great. Ask for him! We left a $32 tip, so the bill came to $197.85

I was on crutches after getting major reconstructive skin graft surgery on my foot and wanted gelato. This incident happened 5 or so days after the surgery. Despite the restaurant being open, the gelato entrance was locked. The ground was wet and icy, and after I hopped up the stairs to the gelato shop, I had to hop to the main entrance because there was nobody there. Thankfully my mother was with me to help hold open doors. Once I made it to the main entrance, I asked about the gelato, and the staff person said it was open, but I wouldn't be able to go through the restaurant to get there and informed me I had to go back around. I believe there was some sort of construction happening, but I struggle to understand why an accommodation couldn't have been made. In hindsight, I wish I had advocated for myself better. My mom helped me leave the restaurant area so I could hop back to the gelato shop in the icy rain, and once I made it to the back (again), the flooring in the shop was slick. Combined with the wet crutches and the slick ground, I fell and broke the fall with my foot that had received surgery. The staff person who directed me to go back outside and witnessed the fall did not even ask me if I was okay. I ended up calling 911 to get an ambulance to take me to the emergency room once we got home from the restaurant because I was terrified that the impact of the fall ripped the sewn bandage and graft out of my foot. Long story short, I'm disappointed at how this situation was handled by the restaurant. The gelato was fine.

They also offer outdoor seating, which is a nice option when the weather is nice. If you're planning to go during peak dinner hours, I definitely recommend making a reservation. The service can be a bit inconsistent, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, it's a good spot that I would recommend.

While there are gluten free options, I was served gluten during both visits. The first time was the wrong pasta. The kitchen made me a new meal. The second attempt was fine, but my table ate while I waited and then I ate alone when my food did come. This time we ordered a gluten free pizza as an app. We received a regular pizza. We were told that we would be comped for the mistake and a gluten pizza was on the way. Neither statement was true. An hour after we ordered, after we had completed our meal, we were told the kitchen was backed up and asked if we still wanted the gluten free pizza. We declined because we just wanted to leave at the point, but the regular pizza was still on the bill. We paid it - it's fine. As a member of the gluten-free/celiac community, I would caution others to be extra careful here. We really wanted to like this restaurant, but the very slow service (a hour before we received any food) coupled with the allergy mistakes make it tough to consider again.

If you order online, it doesn't reflect what they have in stock accurately sometimes so I was a little disappointed something I ordered was out and ended up subbing it for a pistachios muffin (wasn't a good muffin, the nuts were really bitter). Service was really good, very attentive staff and really accommodating. I had a jalapeño and cheddar bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel was PERFECTLY crispy, the perfect amount of salt and the jalapeños were pickled. It was one of the best jalapeño cheddar bagels I've ever had. I also ordered two drinks because I couldn't choose. I went with the Black Sugar Matcha Latte and Hokkaido Milk Tea. The Black Sugar Matcha Latte is the bestest. Would definitely come here in the summer again because I love a good outside seating situation.

Because I have a serious dairy allergy, I need to be careful when ordering, and the person helping me was patient and thoughtful about making sure my iced pumpkin spice latte was prepared with oat milk and remained completely dairy-free. I truly appreciated that care. Unfortunately, the breakfast selection was disappointing. There were no vegan food options available, which meant I could order a drink but had nothing to eat with it. For a coffee shop in a busy destination like Salem, I would love to see at least one satisfying vegan breakfast choice on the menu. My iced pumpkin spice oat milk latte had a pleasant flavor, but it arrived with barely any ice. An iced latte should be properly chilled and refreshing, especially during a warm morning of walking around Salem, and this one wasn't cold enough. Overall, the kind and accommodating staff were the highlight of my visit. With vegan breakfast offerings and a properly iced drink, this could have been a much stronger experience. For this visit, JAHO Coffee earns three stars from me.

The duck was absolutely beautiful, juicy flavorful cook perfection. Tuna Tartare was positively scrumptious served with house made chips that you want a bag to take home, mmmm! The 5 Corners Burger is Smokey and cooked to perfection, and bacon for a bit more delight to the taste buds xtra cheese if your feelin daring! If there is a specialty FISH on the menu I HIGHLY RECOMMEND having that as well. We had Bronzini that was cooked in lemon, olive oil, s&p, it was so delicious & clean tasting. Out of this world! Don't skip dessert! Always something delicious or a great after dinner drink! The service is crazy wonderful, friendly, and fun. The ambiance in 5 Corners is casual elegant, you can go in jeans and a nice shirt, or you can dress up. It has a really nice atmosphere... love it there, and the staff. Thank you all

Upscale…read morerestaurant with linens, etc. We chose to dress up based on reviews but seriously most patrons were not even casually dressed as some wore sweatpants and/or sweatshirts, and this was Saturday for dinner! I think anything goes but would suggest at least nicer jeans. Since this was our travel day; I wanted a nicer place that we could eat light or heavy. 5 Corners Kitchen jumped out as it has inhouse made pastas (and usually several pasta dishes to choose from). Inhouse made pasta is more common on the East Coast (scarse where we live on the West Coast). I made a reservation in advance (week before) and glad I did. Guessing reservations required! We arrived for our 5pm reservation right when they opened. There was a line outside but when they unlocked the doors (reminded me of a scene from The Bear) most immediately went to the bar to eat and drink. Most tables are set for two people with a few for larger parties (6-8 people). Date night type place with more table turns. At 5pm, there were very few diners but by 515pm the place was packed and remained that way with other parties coming in (the pictures show before others arrived). Interior is very modern yet cozy. Great vibes. Lots of fun lights and accents all around. Tables for two are small but our food arrival and eating was just the right pace. I noticed the table next to us was having difficulty with space (but not other tables). They ordered several appetizers (vs entrees) and wanted them at once. The server was great in asking when we wanted our courses as the order goes in all at once, the kitchen just needs to know when. The food was outstanding! We are Foodies so we know and seek out grrat food! Because we traveled all night and day, we weren't too hungry, so we skipped on an appetizer. They have great options and we wished we had more space but decided we were going to have dessert instead! Very nice selection of wines by the glass and/or bottle along with many beers including a few BA beers, and.a full bar for what looks like very creative cocktails! My husband ordered an NA Ale and pleased with his selection. I ordered Camille tea! The food! We started with slitting a wedge salad and sure glad we split it! Just one-half was plenty big! The heirloom cherry tomatoes were excellent, the dressing great, and the inhouse bacon pieces were OMG so good! A meal in itself! For entrees, I ordered the Mushroom Rigitoncini. Lots of different types of mushrooms along with Black Truffle. The sauce was absolutely amazing! The homemade pasta, excellent and done just right! It had Arugula for the herb (vs Basil) that gave it a nice accent flavor. Excellent choice! My husband ordered the Salmon dish, served over a warm salad with a nice light vinaigrette! Fresh fish and excellent dish. Small menu with ten entrees plus a special.to select from, but honestly hard to choose and they all are so tempting. Hoping to be able to return while we are still.here this week! For desert we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Again,.so hard to choose but their Gelato is inhouse made and this one came with a scoop of Vanilla Gelato, like ordering two desserts! We barely had room but enjoyed every bite! Excellent restaurant! Service was wonderful and our Server, Declan, was exceptional. Very attentive. Other staff helped to clear plates (necessary with small tables), bring dishes, refill water glasses, etc. All were very friendly and helpful.
