Have been to Magia a few times now. Usually for special occasions such as birthday, Thanksgiving or Easter. Food is always good and service is excellent. For Easter had the rack of lamb and it was very well done. Great flavor and they happily substituted Brussels sprouts for the sweet potatoes. Overall a very good meal in a nice atmosphere even if the dining room is a bit loud but that is due to people talking versus music.

This was our first time here and the decor was nice and looked like it would be a nice and romantic place to have dinner. But the bar side was so loud that I couldn't hear my wife that was right next to me and the waitress had to ask us to repeat things several times. The wait staff was very good and the bus boy worked his butt off. 6/10= Bread was a sourdough and was just ok. Would have liked to have butter with it. 8.9/10= Chicken fettuccine Alfredo was great. Great flavor and more than I could eat 7.7/10=gnocchi pasta had great flavor as well. Portion size was way too big. Great place to eat, but wish they would tone down the music

Lobster ravioli with lots of lobster and plump fresh ravioli

Almost didn't go here because of other yelp reviews...So very glad we did! We were greeted promptly and cheerfully by the hostess. There was a great jazz group in the bar but we opted for the dining room so we could chill and converse. The Italian specialties drew us in and it was hard to choose, but we chose the ravioli: lobster ravioli and chicken exquisito served over butternut squash ravioli. The pasta in both dishes was plump and fresh. The lobster ravioli had loads of lobster meat in the ravioli and the sauce. The chicken exquisito was also a very generous portion with tender chicken medallions topped with prosciutto and on bed of butternut squash ravioli. The marsala wine sauce was flavored well to complement the dish and we enjoyed every bit of both sauces thanks to the crusty Italian bread basket. We couldn't complete our delightful meal without dessert! We found the flourless chocolate cake to be a nice balance of sweet and creamy. The dense cake was creamy and the strawberry coulis and whipped cream ...chefs kiss. So happy we wandered in despite some negative yelpers...

My pasta was 10/10 the sauce was the BEST part, the strawberry gelato 10/10 everything tasted so fresh, and the staff was genuinely nice. I was staying at the hotel across the street and wish I tried it earlier in the week so I could have enjoyed the leftovers.

Went here with my husband and 2 friends. Our first time here and we were impressed with the spacious inside area decorated for the holiday in tasteful manner. Our server, Christina P, was very pleasant and attentive. We shared a beautiful antipasto platter which was colorful and tasty with Italian meats, cheese, roasted peppers, brined red onion, artichoke hearts, marinated mushrooms and eggplant. And since our friends were from Ontario, we showed them what calamari RI style was all about. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Our Canadian friends had Frutti Di Marre as an entree and enjoyed it although one of them commented that some pickers, crackers and a bin might've been helpful. Even though the tail was open, there's still a little splash back that landed on her shirt. My husband had the chicken piccata over pasta. He felt although good, the dish would have benefitted from more sauce since the pasta greedily absorbed much of it. I had the chicken exquisito and it was delicious. Great flavor of balsamic and butternut squash raviolis. For dessert our companions had the lemon sorbet to cool off from the spiciness if the shellfish. We also split the mini cannoli who were delicious

I was on crutches after getting major reconstructive skin graft surgery on my foot and wanted gelato. This incident happened 5 or so days after the surgery. Despite the restaurant being open, the gelato entrance was locked. The ground was wet and icy, and after I hopped up the stairs to the gelato shop, I had to hop to the main entrance because there was nobody there. Thankfully my mother was with me to help hold open doors. Once I made it to the main entrance, I asked about the gelato, and the staff person said it was open, but I wouldn't be able to go through the restaurant to get there and informed me I had to go back around. I believe there was some sort of construction happening, but I struggle to understand why an accommodation couldn't have been made. In hindsight, I wish I had advocated for myself better. My mom helped me leave the restaurant area so I could hop back to the gelato shop in the icy rain, and once I made it to the back (again), the flooring in the shop was slick. Combined with the wet crutches and the slick ground, I fell and broke the fall with my foot that had received surgery. The staff person who directed me to go back outside and witnessed the fall did not even ask me if I was okay. I ended up calling 911 to get an ambulance to take me to the emergency room once we got home from the restaurant because I was terrified that the impact of the fall ripped the sewn bandage and graft out of my foot. Long story short, I'm disappointed at how this situation was handled by the restaurant. The gelato was fine.

When I brought up the exceptionally rude behavior of the waiter to the gal who seemingly was the manager --- she laughed. Laughed. Yes, really ... laughed. She apparently thought it was funny. I have been in business a very long time --- that was in solid F minus. I was a dining room manager 40 years ago --- I would've been fired on the spot if I treated a guest in our restaurant that way. When I attempted to explain to the so-called manager, her laughter was inappropriate she began to lecture. She would not listen. She interrupted. Talked over. Then raised her voice. Essentially, she did everything a manager should never do. At my fell attempt to get my point across and then explain to her. This was no longer a productive conversation and excused myself to leave. After leaving, she then came out to my car. I thought perhaps she was going to apologize. When I rolled down my passenger window she started it again, repeating herself, interrupting, talking over me. I once again told her this was not a productive conversation, then rolled up my window. She was more like an ill manner child than a manager of any kind. I work in a hospital setting and had to answer a patient's text. As I pulled away she and another staff member, I believe a waitress, stood outside the front entrance screaming profanities and giving me the finger. This was an SNL skit on how to never ever ever treat a customer. Or a human being for that matter. Down the street is Daniella's & 9elm. Exceptional restaurants where anyone should bring their business. Not only is the food excellent but where guests are treated with respect.

Reservations recommended we were seated at a beautiful table for two right near the bar and started off with a Pinot noir and a cabernet. Both wines were delightful. For appetizers we had the braised lamb crepe and the octopus... Both dishes were delicious, presented well with sauces to die for. Followed by the pasta dish and the duck. These were the best dinners of the year for us. The blending of flavors were fantastic and it was augmented by the owner coming over and talking to us about how the food was prepared. I won't bore you with all the details but the octopus is slow boiled for 5 hours.. complete with wine. Corks it was tender and delicious with the Mediterranean flair. We go out to eat our fair share from high end to diners anywhere. The food is well prepared and delicious... This was the top for the year! From the service to the presentation to the wine to the ambiance, everything is top notch here. I will provide a warning. You will drop a pretty penny if you partake in all the courses, but we thought it was well worth it. Thank you to the staff and ownership. We enjoyed our evening.. a true date night.

I say alcohol because it wasn't all wine but ... since it's a bit of a surprise in terms of what actually appears I'll just leave it at that. However, as to the food ... I'll give a taste, a flavor, a wisp of a whisper of the full culinary adventure. For complete details, see your local sous chef! Here's what we had. In the middle of my photo collage, a blood sausage slider with fennel/jalapeño sauce on toasted brioche bun. Then clockwise from top left - cornbread with maple glaze in a Barbie sized personal cast iron skillet; beet salad with goat cheese half spheres; a dessert tray of black apple cake with hay ice cream (yes, seriously), chamomile pot de creme and a duck fat beignet; an assortment of ice creams - fenugreek, fennel/maitake mushroom/burnt hazelnut (all tasted fabulous and in each you could taste the listed flavors); entree of duck and wild mushroom tart; white bean soup and finally a pasta dish of ravioli with two fillings. Just a note on what it would take to make it yourself. See that hexagonal white blob on the bottom row, middle pic? That's a potato foam. Forgive me for not recalling the full procedure but the prep is roughly 7 hours long. First, the cut potatoes are cooked in a sous vide for 2 hours so that no moisture is added to them. Then a succession of ricing, smoking, drying, undrying, mashing, placing in a foam machine that looked like a whipped cream dispenser and boom - a tiny dollop of potato. It tasted great. But man - that's a lot of effort for a mouthful of potato. I don't think I'll be trying it at home. Over two hours of eating and chatting. I brought a couple of my restaurant-based cartoons as my personal thanks for the meal and was shocked that Justin, their sommelier, had done a cartoon of his own ahead of time for me! Just stick to wine, Justin - I don't need any MORE competition with my magazine editors ... With Dylan ably providing the primary chef duties and Amaya and Justin handling the booze, the meal was a smashing success. The food pairings were masterfully chosen and timing of the dishes meant we were always primed for the next one. Although the succession of what I'd call dessert dishes made me start to feel like a Hobbit enjoying dessert, second dessert and then post seconds. As Anton Ego said in Ratatouille (and they have a cute Reme rat under glass on a shelf) "I shall be returning, hungry for more."

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

While I can appreciate the choose your own adventure / tasting concept and benefits of moving at your own pace, wine tasting is something where I'd prefer to have more of a personal touch. The space was a nice open hang and there's snacks and games, and there is staff there, but the experience made me realize I prefer a guided human tour for some things, wine tasting being one of them. Prices also snuck up on us a bit, it's easy to lose count of how many you've had with the card reader. I was also a bit bummed to find that if you liked a wine you cannot purchase a bottle on site. We've started having dinner out twice a month and this was the most recent experience. I had gone online to the NORTH SHORE DINNING PAGE on Facebook and asked people about their experiences with the restaurant in the last two days and here's what people said: "great, tender meatballs", "great eggplant parmigiana", "very good experience". .... And what we found out is that they were right. Those things were all true! Now.... As to what we ordered: I got the grilled octopus. It was the only partial miss on the menu. Arugula just doesn't make a very good sauce and it was a pretty bad base for what would otherwise might have been a great appetizer. My mother got the Caesar salad. It was good. It's a hard thing to screw up. My father ordered the meatballs. They were amazing and delicious - just like Facebook promised. The tzatziki sauce was good. Maybe not as good as mine, but good nonetheless. So dinner.... Mine was the Chicken Saltimboca. It was so good that I'd bathe in the sauce they make with it. I loved eating forkfuls of the chicken with bites of the mashed potatoes. That was really luxuriant. My mother had the Eggplant parmigiana and she wiped out the entire plate. She loved it. My father.... Beef tenderloin tips. Maybe cooked slightly too much, but delicious. He wiped out the plate. To drink.... I was out of the hospital and recovering from brain tumor surgery, so I had the hard cider (3.5% BV), my father had the Peroni (Italian) beer, and my mother had the Bud light. I tasted the Peroni and liked it very much. The hard cider had almost no sweetness to it. It was dry as a higher end brut champagne.... Which actually set off the meal really nicely. My tastes weren't clashing and that was good. Our waiter, Sean, was great. Ask for him! We left a $32 tip, so the bill came to $197.85

This also really lacked flavor, and I was yearning for more tomatoes. The service was great and our waitress Leanna was attentive and super sweet. They had clean bathrooms and ample parking out front and around the block. However, the food wasn't memorable, and I don't think I'll go out of my way to return.
