This review is for the MAC counter in the Kahala Macy's. Went here one afternoon to buy some foundation because I was running low and if you've had the pleasure of seeing my naked face you'll know that this is a 9-1-1 emergency! I'm now 7 months pregnant and although I love this baby in my belly, my skin is awful. I have the worst break out and redness all over my cheeks. I've had clueless men ask me "What's wrong with my face?" and have been three seconds away from kicking them in the you-know-where, just so I can turn around and say "Hey! What's wrong with your face?!!!" So although foundation doesn't completely cover up the devastation of hormones, it at least helps in some small way. They say that a little girl will steal her mother's beauty while she's in the belly and if that's true, my little baking baby is going to be a surefire Super Model. Her Daddy is going to have to be cleaning shot guns when her dates come a knockin'! It was about 2:15 pm when I went up to the counter and I only had about 15 minutes until I had to pick my daughter up from school. I had arrived just after a couple and as luck would have it, the sales girl was seating them for a make-up consultation. Then, because God has this really weird sense of humor, I saw that it was the man who was getting a consultation and he was blind. No this is not a joke, because even I could not make something like this up. I could see this was going to take a while so I ran upstairs to use the bathroom because I'm 7 months pregnant and that's what I do every 30 minutes. Fun, huh?! Came back down and the poor sales girl now had the blind guy in the make-up chair, two people asking for stuff on the floor and she had to answer the phone. Luckily I had only come for one item and I already knew exactly what I wanted. She quickly grabbed my item because everyone feels sorry when you're a bloated red faced pregnant mess so you generally get good service everywhere. Oh except at Motherhood. You're just another bloated red faced pregnant mess and there's one like you at every rack. I asked her why she was there by herself and she said that she was scheduled solo until 3 pm. Poor thing! Even though they were really understaffed at the MAC counter, I thought that the sales girl was really nice and had the right attitude about things. She just smiled and hustled. I wish I could have stuck around to see the blind guy's make-up but I got things to do before I have this baby! read more

We all go to Macy's right? But does anyone remember when it was Liberty House? Yup you know who you are! Has it improved from those days? I suppose so - but while I like the convince of the Kahala Mall store - everything seems a little cramped and the selection in most departments is much less than Ala Moana - especially the shoe section. I recently went here to get shoes for my trip to NYC - what did I find? About 1/6 of the selection of the Ala Moana Store. I get that due to square footage - but the selection that was there really did not seem to be trying to appeal to a buyer that was not look for a work out shoe or slippers. Also, the sales girls in that department seem to just hang out behind the counter chatting - no customer service. So a typical interaction is: Um excuse me... Yeah... Do you have this shoe in x size? Um..let me see - sales person continues chatting with other sales person to finish up her story...the sales person returns with one box ( no other options ) and then hands it to me Thanks.....sigh...never mind.... I give it 2 stars for location and that is it. :( read more

The Macy's workers here are so happy and helpful. I was at the store near closing last night and asked a saleslady if they had shorts. She apologetically told me that all they had at the moment were elastic band tourist shorts, but that they'd be getting some in soon. Then I went in the fitting room (out of her area) and tried on some jeans. While I was in there, she brought over some shorts from Junior's to show my husband, but the rise was too low and I'm not 20 anymore. Then I got out of the room and she had brought over MORE shorts.The shorts wouldn't work for me, but I appreciated her effort, especially given that I hadn't asked. I thanked her. I do wish they had more of a kid's section, particularly for boys. We needed dress pants for my son and the only choice was a $49 Ralph Lauren pair that we skipped; we looked at dress shirts and they only had them for toddler boys. The toddler girls section is a little sparse, though they do have $9 Ts and skorts, and the girl's section is almost entirely Ed Hardy-esque stuff. read more

I worked in this mall for a little over 3 years. And to be honest, I hardly shopped here. Only until I got pregnant, their baby clothes deals are amazing! You can find a lot of cute clothes for just a few bucks. Sometimes they'll go for 80% off! That's a big bonus. I could buy so many and not feel bad because it wasn't expensive and knowing my baby would outgrow it in a few months. The only thing I don't like is, they take forever to open up at times. They open at 10am but sometimes they'll get you waiting for Atlease 10-20 mins before someone comes to the door to unlock it. Are they lazy? They worst downside for me is when I had a coworker who I guess comes here quite often and maybe treat this girl bad? I don't even know the story between them. And one of the employees at Macy's didn't like her I believe. And asked us if we worked for so and so company and said "I don't want to help you because you're a coworker of "...."" we then said "hold up. Just because she works with us doesn't mean we are all the same!" Then she decided to help us and totally talked smacked about our coworker. There is a place and time to talk about someone or even a topic like that. But you are at work and I feel that it's very unprofessional! read more

Whenever I need a new Aloha shirt or pants, I head directly to Macy's. The ladies are always sweet and helpful. Plus, they always try to give you discounts when you go and pay for your items. Great selection and prices. read more

This review is for the Clinique counter at Kahala Mall Macy's. I go to Macy's a lot for their Clinique products. The women that work at the Kahala mall Clinique were ok the first time I went. It didn't seem like they knew as much information about their products as the Clinique women at Ala Moana do. The second time I went was awful. Only one Clinique women was working and me and another woman were waiting for her to assist us. She was applying makeup to a girl (who I had a strong hunch was a relative) and totally IGNORED us. We stood there for so long (10 full minutes staring at her in disbelief) that a woman from ANOTHER cosmetic counter had to come over and help us. I'm sticking with the professional Clinique ladies at Ala Moana- that experience was so absurd. read more

I have no idea where I should rate this Macy's. I have had such varied experiences here. I often stop by the tiny women's department to buy quick gifts for friends and we make it up to the children's section to buy clothes for my son. The women's department associates are always pleasant and friendly in helping me find something. However, the children's department associates I find myself saying thank you more than them... and they NEVER thank me for shopping there. Yes it's something real manini but seriously, how can you NOT thank someone when you're in the customer service industry. BLASPHEMY. Anyway, I can always find good deals at the Kahala location because it seems like no one ever shops here. Sometimes their clothing section for the women leaves me scratching my head and wondering why their people bought such crazy looking outfits but other times, I am really happy with my finds. I find Macy's Kahala to be cute. It is not as tiny as the Waikiki one, but it is still a midget store. Many times I see that people just skip Macy's while they walk through the Kahala Mall store. The men's section is weird. There isn't much selection of clothes and when they are, I find them a bit fashionably behind. The shoes and accessories section is very small also. One thing you find about this particular store is that the fragrance/beauty section is large. For those looking for hot selling beauty products that have been sold out elsewhere, this is the place to check out. Some of the workers seem to not know what specials are going on so you have to really be on it. I'm not sure what it is about Macy's but people LOVE giving me gift cards for this place & I hardly ever shop here. I don't care for their clothing but I do enjoy browsing their handbag & shoe sections. Their clothes are much to dressy for this gal; they seem geared towards a more mature, business-y crowd whereas I wear scrubs to work everyday & jeans & tees on my days off. They always seem to have a sale going on for something or other which is nice because it is a little pricey. For example, I stopped in today to check out their shoes (I've been on the hunt for the perfect ballerina-inspired flats for an upcoming wedding) & I found a pair on clearance. Regular price $89.00, marked down to $44.50 & I had a $25 gift card. So basically I only spent $21 on a $90 pair of Nine West flats. The staff are really nice & helpful here; whereas Ala Moana Macy's seems to cater more to the tourists or as just too busy to be able to get to everyone. But the selection of product here is a lot more limited than Ala Moana also. read more

I remember the sales associate's name who helped me only because she has the same name as my mother..... SO with that being said if anyone who works at Macy's happens to be reading this Iris who works there is perhaps the most patient person I have EVER had the pleasure of encountering during a transaction. Before I get to how great Iris is, let me just say that this Macy's store is well kept and even though when I went to try on clothing in the dressing room there was not an attendant there, the dressing rooms were clean and well kept. Now back to Iris. Although I waited on line for a short period of time she was expedient with the customer in front of me to ensure that she was able to use her Macy's coupons in the best way possible. She also made sure to apologize to me for my wait. When it was my turn, she helped me price check my items and also assisted me in opening an account. When there was an issue with processing my payment (as I wanted to pay my account in full after I used the discount afforded to me) she meticulously walked me through the process and although it was at the end of her shift and her relief had arrived she worked the issue out and resolved it for me and did not make me feel like a burden even though I am SURE she wanted to go home (I told her I felt terrible for keeping her there). So in closing... If you ever see Iris at Macy's be nice to her. She's a good egg. And if you're Iris' boss, give her a raise or at least an atta girl! read more

Fabulous sales, quality merchandise, good service. These are the things that keep us coming back to Macy's Men's Store at Kahala Mall. Time and time again, we've visited the store to find aloha and casual attire, and we usually walk out very satisfied with our purchases. The Kahala location is small yet always seems to have the thing we came in to buy. We've bought dress slacks, casual trousers, aloha shirts, board shorts, casual shirts, and accessories, usually for less than full price. We like the helpful sales staff (especially Chris), good selection of stylish clothes, great sales prices, and clean on-site bathrooms. What? Nobody reviewed Macy's at Kahala mall. Let me be the first to tell you what the deal is. I worked here from 17 to 21 when it was formerly Liberty House. 1 My best friend in the world manages the Shiseido counter. Her name is Renee, she's awesome, go see her for some sunscreen, makeup, skincare. 2 The generations department buyer sucks ass, their stuff is not trendy and they basically have overpriced crap that you can buy at jeans warehouse 3 I love the kids department, much better selection than Ala Moana. 4 Clark, the fragrance guy is cool, been working there forever, he can tell you what peach, flower, musky scent is in every cologne and perfume. 5 The men's store, previously carol and mary's don't make me laugh. They finally upgraded the young mens surf area, much better selection. But basically they sell Ralph Lauren, Tori Richard, Tommy Bahama, Kahala, Alfani and that's it. Looking for Lacoste, Ed Hardy, Marc Ecko, Nike, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, or some basic Suits, you're better off at Ala Moana. 6 The Kitchen department is alright, they got the basics. 7 Lingerie? They've been expanding it to the new modern woman, before it was just big saggy bra's and grandma underwear, B-O-R-I-N-G. 8 They have a new ipod vending machine. Weird. I rather go to the Apple store in the mall, with extended warranty's and service. 9 The muumuu selection has gone downhill. It's pretty sad when my tutu can't find anything she likes. 10 Purse's and accessories selection is alright. Some things you can find at Chinatown for 75% less. But if you have money and are the target market for this Macy's, you'll feel right at home. It may be replaced with Nordstroms one day as Liberty House was replaced with Macy's. Happened to visit Macy's Petite Department and passed by their jeans display. I was SO IMPRESSED by the organized, neatly folded, size grouping of their jeans that I went to the sales associate to tell her how much I appreciated it! No other Macy's on this island can say the same. Those displays look like a laundry war zone! Big props to the Asian sales associate who even explained that an organized work area makes it so much easier to serve her customers as well! read more

last weekend i had a mother n daughter day. And i wanted to treat my mother to new makeup i went to the Clinque section and this middle age woman with glasses pony tail. I told her what i was looking for and she kept talking n talking and just kept pushing and pushing to buy something else. "this is a 3 step process etc etc" which i did not want at all. She was just trying to make her sales. i dislike ppl like that who does not care about the customers and only want to make a sale. And is rude and brushes us off like we are nobodys. There is a reason why people are starting to shop online.... I bought a fragrance at Macy's Online and when I got it in the mail I opened up the box to find out that it was the wrong fragrance. I went to the Kahala Mall Macy's to return it and they were refusing to return it saying that it was used. All I did was open the box and smelled the bottle to know it was the wrong fragrance (I wanted Cartier Panthere not Cartier Panthere Leterge) which is the one I got.... The salesperson made me feel like the prom girl that buys her dress and leaves the tags on to return the dress the next day. I never had received such poor quality service like I did today. I called the the 800 number to express my frustration and the online customer service person was to gracious and took care of me with free shipping to place the correct order....and made sure I could return the item....BTW cosmetics and/or fragrance return policy is you can return them with a receipt within 180 days new or slightly used or open....in case for instance you buy a cream or make-up that breaks you out...you are allowed to return it..... Kahala Mall Sales Staff need better training....and BTW wearing a T-shirt and slippers to work (salesperson that helped was wearting that) is not very professional.... When I went to the men's department today, I went to buy a pair a shorts and a wallet. I was a bit frazzled as I had been shopping all day and wanted nothing more than to pay and leave. The cashier rushed me into applying for Macy's card, after I tried to decline. She then kept rushing me and for some stupid reason, I jut gave her my info so I could get her to shut the fuck up and so I could get out of there. And now, my credit report has an inquiry on it for no fucking reason. I don't even want the card. But when someone declines a service, you do not push it on them. I honestly feel like I pressured to do this under duress as all I wanted to do was leave and the cashier was not understanding the word NO. I know it doesn't mean anything to a corporation as a single entity, but I will not be shopping at Macy's again. read more

I like this Macy's because it's usually empty. I seem to always find my cutest shoes and nicest blouses from this location. It may also be because I get overwhelmed with all the different chioces when I go to the Ala Moana location. I especially like to come here during Clinique Bonus Time because the line isn't as long as the other locations. read more

This is my very first time in this store. I am going to say that I have found the pair of backup pair of Sunglasses that I really liked inside the Sunglass Hut inside of Macys. I am glad to hear that they will change and repair/exchange the glasses if there's anything wrong with it, which I should not have a problem with. I am glad to see a very good friend of mines that really assisted me with a good choice of sunglasses from this store. Also since it is a friends and family event, they informed me that it's a good idea to pick up the sunglasses sometime next week and if I can't pick it up they can still hold it for me and I really appreciate the opportunity to take advantage of the 25% off friends and family event too. Check it out folks and if you do buy a pair of polarized sunglasses, they are going to take $40 off another pair as well. So stop by and enjoy this fabulousness and cool event that happens. I recently purchased a foundation from the MAC counter at the Ala Moana location and found that the salesgirl gave me a color too dark, since I was just on my way home I wanted to check out other colors and asked one of the MAC associates their opinion on the foundation I was recommended. Lo and behold not one, but two sales associates agreed that I was matched with a color too dark for me so they recommended something else. I was really happy with the service I received since they were so much more friendly and even offered some tips, which was the complete opposite of the service I got back at the Ala Moana location. If you are new to the makeup world or are just looking for something to make you feel good I HIGHLY suggest the MAC counter at Kahala Mall. I will be back for some more awesome goodies! I have to say, although this Macy's is a lot small than the Ala Moana and Pearl Ridge branch this is by far my most favorite location. I guess because it is smaller than the other two locations, the staff here are so much more helpful and friendlier. I'm not saying it's just one person from the shoe or clothing department, but workers from ALL departments even down to MAC cosmetics counter here are so friendly and helpful and are always greeting you with a warm smile. read more

This is a small Macys, but what it lacks in size and makeup counter space, it makes up for in clothes and variety. I've actually had better luck buying clothes at this Macy's than I have in the over crowded and messy Ala Moana Macys stores. Sure, the beauty counters leave much to be desired as there is very limited selection, but the workers at this Macy's are all nice and very helpful. read more

I really like this Macy's because its a lot smaller than the one at Ala Moana. Each section is in a small area but they don't sacrifice the selection they offer. They have a lot of clothing items for all ages. I usually go here around Christmas time when they have a lot of sales and opportunities to get an additional discount with your Macy's card. Was going to purchase a coffee table in the furniture section... it was on clearance and had quite a bit of scratches. The sales agent was nice and was trying to "clean up the table" and remove the scratches and tape marks. I asked if she would consider a discount given the damage on the table. She said she would talk to the manager, Jack. Apparently he was only willing to give a 10 % discount. I asked if I could talk to him. He walked up to me and my family member and while passing by us he said 10 % and that's it ... he didn't stop to talk with us or even look us in the face... he just walked right by. What's discouraging is the management at Macy's has really deteriorated. The floor representatives seem professional but their managers (this is not the first time management has behaved this way) have lost their ability to listen and engage the customers. Such a disappointment. I decided to purchase furniture at Pier 1 Imports instead and give them my business. They know who keeps them in business .... their customers! I now avoid shopping at Macy's despite all the sales etc... I am willing to pay as long as I am treated with value and respect. read more

I always come to Kahala Macys for MAC cosmetics. They do a fabulous job on makeup, and the staff is young, always having fun, and blasting music. It has a fun vibe, and when I leave I always applaud the work they've done. I find excuses to purchase more makeup, and with $50 or more you get a make-over!! Sooo worth it. read more

Got a haircut for first time at salon on 2nd floor. My hair was too long and with the recent hot and muggy weather and the hair getting in my eyes when surfing I needed a trim badly. My stylist was professional and friendly. The salon was clean and sanitary. Most of all I was worried I would look like a chia pet because I wanted it short and preferred comfort over looks but it came out looking better than before! Much easier to shampoo, condition and style. Cooler with this muggy weather especially when golfing and not in my face when surfing. I'd go back again for sure. read more
