Super excited about Friends & Family weekend and the SA Angel Tree for Kupuna! Side note: The Angel Tree tables are right outside Macy's Shiseido and makeup entrance, staffed with many volunteers. Tags are distributed by girls, boys, and kupuna (male/female). Found one of each for kupuna wishing for blankets, comforters, or bed sheets. Entered Macy's, went right up their escalator to their bedding department, and, as I hoped and expected (from past Christmas tag years), there was a large variety of prints of Twin to Cal King 8-piece (eight!!!!) sets regularly priced at $100 for only $39.99!!!! They have handles for easy carry, and include two shams, cases, bedsheets, a bed skirt, and a comforter! So excited for the Christmas kupuna surprise, courtesy of Macy's excellent sale! We went there to look for a dinner jacket and dress shirts for an upcoming event. The sales person Jennifer was Outstanding. She helped us navigate through the whole process and we came out with exactly what we were looking for and within budget. We also were shopping for new luggage. I love Macy's Kahala. I tell everyone to shop there, because I don't want to ever see the Kahala location close. I've been shopping there regularly for 20 years, as long as I've lived near the mall. I am a platinum customer and pay off my bill every month. Imagine my disappointment yesterday when I tried to return an item, and Minda told me that they have a special register to take returns because they are "busy." This is the same person that I have purchased numerous items from throughout the years. I was very calm and told her that the other register is busy with a line. Minda did do my return begrudgingly. There was NO ONE in line after me during the entire transaction. I did not see a sign that said this register is for purchases only. And even if there was a sign, wouldn't common sense tell you to help the customer since no one else is in line? I'm not going to check out with Minda anymore, even if I have to walk upstairs. Macys Kahala has redesigned their floor space, bringing in the men's store from the separate location near CPK. For Christmas, they have added a Toys R Us shop. Amazing how much they can pack into the space now. I rarely buy anything at full price, just wait a week or so until there is a sale and then its like a scavenger hunt for bargains. Amazing finds and so handy now that if you have a Macys card you don't have to bring all those coupons with you. I also like how they have the return department at a counter by the front door. My kids roll their eyes at me, but Macy's is like the old Sears store, where they have a little of almost everything in one place. read more

This Macy's location is inside Kahala mall at the far end. Michelle R. and myself decided to go look at the last act clearance rack and I managed to find a DKNY light green shirt for $5.00! A steal! Too bad I couldn't find any other nice shirts for $5.00! The quality of the clothing here is high end and great quality. I love looking at all the name brands. There were items on sale especially jewelry and other items. The customer service here was excellent! I didn't like the fact that the other Filipino lady shooed us away because her line was apparently long and she said she was closing. What a way to draw in customers. We decided to go elsewhere to pay for our items. I only picked up two items that costs me $10 total. Not bad! Better to buy stuff on clearance and on sale than regular price. Big mahalos and shoutout to Steve and Tari at the Kahala Macy's Women's shoes section and Soo and Clif at Ala Moana's Macy's . I was at Kahala Macy's on Friday 1/21 to find a pair of heels for an unfortunate upcoming viewing. The heels were clearance , looked nice and professional, had comfortable padding, however it was not my size. It was a 9.5 when I had needed an 8.5. Steve took an extra step in helping me search for any other locations that had this correct shoe size and he was able to find me one last pair at Macy's Ala Moana. He had spoken with Sol who had held this pair for me for 24 hours. When I went to pick it up at Ala Moana, Clif had helped me ring up my order, but then the price was not the same as I had at Kahala. It was marked up to full price (roughly 70$ instead of the price I had found it at Kahala. Clif had told me to try see Steve again to have a possible price match. I rushed to Kahala's Macy's today (1/23) but Steve wasn't working, luckily Tari was and she had remembered me 2 days ago. She had helped me out so much and I was able to get my shoes at the price I found it originally (a one time thing) . Thank you Steve, Tari, Sol and Clif for all of your wonderful help. The customer service at the Kahala Macy's is a lot better than the Ala Moana one. That's why I need to give a shoutout to Steve at the Women's Shoes section. He's truly a one of a kind who goes above and beyond to help customers and ensure they're satisfied. Steve has helped my wife and I with numerous things. We love the fact that he offers to help. He cleaned a pair of shoes that my wife wanted because the only size available was on display. He also helped stretch out a pair of heels that was tight in the front. Additionally, he's always looking for ways to help us save money with either coupons, card savings, or other promotions. We get none of that at other Macy's. Overall, this Macy's is very convenient located in Kahala Mall. It is a lot smaller than the gigantic Ala Moana one and carries less items and brands. The set up is clear. Second level is home and kids things, first floor is women, and off on a separate side across from California Pizza Kitchen is the smaller men's section. This Macy's also has a lot more clearance and "last act" items when it comes to clothes. Kahala Macy's is definitely more low key and doesn't carry any super high-end, luxury brands. Very unprofessional customer service. I went to the store today and purchased a pearl necklace, I was looking for a birthday gift and trying to compare the style and price. The lady who helped me she was very very inpatient. I asked to check price for me, she didn't look happy and her attitude didn't make me feel good. I picked a sale pearl necklace and when she helped me checking out, I wanted to check another style, so I asked if I see the other necklace, I was told " you have to finish this transaction first". I was confused, do I have no right to compare and think about which one to get?? I asked again if I can I still see the another necklace, seems like she is very irritated at me for asking to show different style of necklaces. I was in a rush to leave, didn't get her name. I was one of those growing up with Liberty House (LH), which is now Macy's. Headquartered in Honolulu, LH was founded in Hawaii as H. Hackfield & Co. in 1849 and became Hawaii's oldest and largest retail department and specialty store chain. It was a place where you could find men's, women's, and children's clothing, accessories, and shoes; toys; bedding; towels; kitchenware; small appliances; gift boxes of candies and gourmet food; luggage; bridal registry; stationery; and more. With stores throughout the Hawaiian Islands, Guam, and several Mainland cities, LH filed for bankruptcy in 1998. The Federated Department Stores purchased LH, which became part of the Macy's chain. Yes, Macy's had more buying power that resulted in an increased variety of their goods. However, I had many good memories with LH: their semi-annual Zooper Sales, which we all looked forward to with really good buys; going shopping the day after Christmas when hordes of people were waiting as the doors opened so that we could select prime Christmas wrapping paper, ornaments, and accessories; getting purchased items gift wrapped with high quality wrapping paper and bouffant ribbon bows; and seeing the iconic hibiscus flower logo on their paper bags, boxes, and ads. I needed to buy a bridal registry gift for my niece, whose bridal shower would be held in a few weeks. I checked online as to her registry items, and found the last two items, a knife, and a knife sharpener, that were not yet purchased. Having had prior experiences of wasted time looking for specific registry items among the large varied inventory of goods, I decided to call Macy's to see if they had them in stock. I was surprised that they no longer have a bridal registry department, as the registry is farmed out to the department where the item is located. I was connected to the Housewares Department, and the sales person said she would check and call me back right away after she completed her transaction. In a few minutes, I received her call, and she said that she had them and would hold them for me at the sales price. As she was checking further, she told me that the prices would drop further in a few days. She advised me to come in right away and purchase it so that the registry would show that the items were purchased, and that I could purchase it at the lower sales price but would not be able to take them with me until the first day of the sale. Wow, I couldn't believe my ears! She was trying to save me some money! I went down in a few hours and purchased them from her. I am so glad that I did, as if I had gone to someone else, it would not have happened that way. Now this is what I call customer service, as she was so kind to go out of her way in making this sale. It was so effortless on my part, as all I did was make a single phone call. No need to go looking for the right gift. She made this purchase so pleasant that I wished I could make all my future purchased through her. Not only the purchase, but also when I picked it up a few days later, she provided a box and gave me more than enough tissue paper to wrap it. Her name? KATHLEEN OTANI at Macy's Kahala. Found out that she is a floater, so she may be assigned to a different department each day. If you see her name on her nametag, you know that you are getting the best service from Macy's. Now, if Macy's executive staff is reading this, Kathleen Otani definitely deserves a raise! What an exemplary example for all their employees to follow! She is a model of kindness and the superb customer service that are much appreciated during the busyness that we face daily in meeting life's challenges. The store is smaller than the Ala Moana one so the selection is not that great. The women's clothing selection is respectable, but the men's store is very limited in their offerings. There is a fair island wear and surf wear selection, but designer clothing is lacking at this location. The shoe choices are minimal, even for a satellite branch. There is a fair selection of housewares so this would be a place to try if the other stores do not have a product you are looking for. Yes, I have seen some decent deals on items they have here. But the selection (at least for apparel) is limited, so pickings are kind of slim. read more

This Macy's seems to always lack employees at this store. There's usually only 2-3 registers open on the second floor and a line of 3-5 people. And it takes forever to ring each person up. Recently, I had an issue where I couldn't return an toddler item because the register said it was past the time for return, which I knew was ridiculous, given the age of my son. The man working the register insisted the return period was 6 months, which was contrary to what I knew which was that the period was a year. Also, it says a year on the sign in front of his register and 365 on the website. Nevertheless, he couldn't tell me when I purchased the item. I went home and found the receipt. Sure enough, I was will within the time frame for a return, even if the return period was 6 months. I went back to return the item and a manager had to process the return. She also said the return period was 6 months. Why does it say a year on the signs in front of multiple registers in your store?!?!? You would expect a manager to know the policies of her store, and, if in fact she wad correct, she should do something to change the signage. This is an aside, however, since I bought the item within 6 months. I just can't believe the manager and employees of a store don't know their own return policy. We came here to buy a necklace for my mother-in-law. Seemed like a simple enough thing. Boy, was I wrong. When we first arrived the woman working the counter was helping someone else. So we browsed around looking at different necklaces. When the salesperson finished with the other person, rather than walking to where we were looking in a case, she yelled over to us from the end of the counter, about 10 feet away and said, "Yes? Can I help you with something?" So we had to walk over to her to say, "We'd like to look at some necklaces." And lead her back to the case where we were just standing. I pointed to a necklace in a case on the counter nearby and asked her what the difference was between that necklace and the one in case below. She said coldly, "That one is sterling. These are gold." Full stop. So I asked her how much the gold one was and she replied, "Whatever that sign says in front of it." Yes, she actually said that. Hang on...it gets better. And in my defense, there was just a sign with a price on it but it wasn't clear which necklace it was for. So we chatted amongst ourselves for a minute and she interrupts us and says with a huge, impatient SIGH, "So which one do you want to see? This one or that one?" Really?! After looking at these, mind you, we spent less than a minute, we asked to see some others in another case. So she doesn't say anything and just walks over to the other case. Again, I ask her a couple questions that she responds with, "Yes, they're the same. That one's white gold and that one's yellow." She was incredibly dismissive. She robotically pulled them out of the case and took out a calculator and said, "This one is $$$" and then "That one is $$$". No words left her mouth after this, even when we thanked her and left. There was no way in hell (and trust me, we were in jewelry hell) that I was going to give this woman any of my money. She treated us like nothing so she earned nothing. When we walked away, shopping partner said, "What was that?!" It is a shame that Macy's has devolved into this. But with service like this, I can understand why Macy's is tanking. So much for the myth that brick and mortar stores provide better service. At least my computer doesn't treat me like I'm wasting its time. read more

Whenever I'm in Kahala Mall (which is VERY often), I always love to browse in Macy's. If you have their credit card you can earn a store certificate based on a percentage of your purchases. They also almost always have an additional percentage off if you are a cardholder, and send out really great coupons. Macy's has an awesome return policy, as long as you leave the return sticker on the tag. (Even better if you have the receipt as well). Even though Macy's Kahala has 2 floors, it's tiny compared to the Ala Moana and Pearl Ridge locations. I still think they have a great selection to choose from. I'm not sure, but maybe the Waikiki location may be smaller than Kahala come to think of it. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean, and it has a diaper changing area near the sinks. I used to always go to their bathroom to change my daughter, as it was cleaner than the other diaper changing station near the theaters. Right in front of the women's bathroom entrance is an ATM machine. I think the name of it is "Kalabash"? Which is great if you have a Credit Union account like myself that accepts deposits (checks) and or you can withdraw from without being charged. (Check with your financial institution if there is a fine for using the Kalabash ATM's. The Sales People are pretty friendly, I've only come across a couple that were crabby. Went to Kahala Mall Macys for a change in scenery. Windward Mall is my go to store since it's closer to my home but we wanted different options so we went out of our comfort zone. Came specifically to Macy's to purchase Shisedo products. I recently ran out and needed to upgrade since Shisedo stopped their Benefiance line I was on. Got to the counter and stood in line with the rest of the ladies that were already their. I hear an older woman in front of me say she wanted to try a new product. I mention to her that she could ask for a sample. From the look on her face you could tell she didn't know Shisedo offered samples. That's how expensive it is,lol... The counter girl gives her a few samples and the woman makes her purchase and leaves. My turn now! I ask a few questions about the products I'm about to purchase and I ask for a sample as well. The face wash from the new line: Future Solution LX is $68 so I definitely wanted to know the difference between the 2 lines they carried. Virgie the Shisedo counter girl tells me they don't give samples. I ask her if there's a reason why I couldn't get a sample after the woman in front of me got hers? Virgie tells me because of COVID-19 they no longer can give samples. With little effort she skims her counter and tells me they have none. Another sales girl Christine comes over from another department and reinforces Virgie's COVID-19 excuse on why they don't give samples. I am a long time Shisedo customer and know that samples are not made at the counter. They are packaged, sealed and sent from the manufacturer. Virgie and Christine was acting as if samples were scrapped from open bottles like Sephora. Maybe because I was a young dark skin Native Hawaiian woman who looked to ordinary to purchase high end products they decided to discriminate me on this day. I was so disappointed and angry at their actions towards me. I ended up going to Pearl Ridge and purchasing my products from their. I will NEVER purchase anything from Kahala Malls Shisedo counter again and will make it a point to tell my family and friends about the discrimination at this counter! read more

During BF expect no customer service, only reps at the register. I see two reps per cashier, which I don't understand. One person can ring and bag. Don't waste labor on that. Their coupon system is lame. You never can tell if your coupon will be valid until you get to the register. Just plain stupid. Macy's in Kahala Mall is a staple. When in the area, I come here to look at shoes, kitchen wares, and household items. Or use their bathroom. Don't make that face, we all have done it. This location is always clean. I have never walked in there and the place was always organized and clean. Props to the housekeepers and salespeople. This location never seems to be busy. At least when I walk in. I think that's why the place is in order. The sales that they have can be really good. When used in conjunction with their coupons, you can save additional on already marked down prices. I believe if you have a Macy's card, there is additional savings, as well. I often come to look at the sale items. I think that's how I got my waffle maker... Customer service is a hit and miss. There have been times where I have received the most excellent service. And other times, I can't find anyone around to help. It happens at all times of day, so there is no way to pinpoint when to go for great service. Overall, Macy's has its niche here in Hawaii. I shop at macy's for two things: make up and household goods. I'm a sucker for promotional gifts and Macy's often has make up promos. I realized recently that a lot of stores do these promos, but for some reason, Macy's remains to be my go to place for Clinique and benefit products. The make up counters don't always have the friendliest workers (I think they're paid half by Macy's half by the make up brand, something weird like that...). The Macy's MAC counter is also kinda small and seem to have the rudest workers of all the counters. Household appliances? I don't know where else to buy stand up mixers and blenders, other than Costco. Macy's also has some pretty good sales on household goods. I've bought some wedding gifts here as well as my mixers. If you walk towards the back of each section, there's also usually some clearance items. The household department has nicer workers than the make up counters. I don't usually buy clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. but I hear there are pretty good deals, especially if you have a Macy's card, which I don't have. I'm not in any rush to get one though. This Macy's is conveniently located in Kahala mall. It's smaller than the ala moana location, but it has what I need. It's a little weird that the men's department is separate, and very small, but I hardly ever go to that side. read more

I've found a gem of a store and it's Macy's! Who would've thought after all these years. What makes Macy's great now is they have a Last Act section. This Last Act section is absolutely wonderful. You can get discounted items for so so cheap. It's my go to for buying baby stuff. One day I was looking for pajamas for my baby and I went to the baby section. The pajamas weren't on sale in that section. In fact they were about $15 for one. To me that's kind of ridiculous, since babies grow out of their clothes so fast. So I just started walking around and I found the Last Act section for babies. What a find! I found four pajamas for my baby at each was $2.96. What a steal! This price alone made me keep coming back. The next time I went the pajamas were $3.26. I am no stranger to the Last Act section. It's wonderful and my daughter is making good use of the clothes. Macy's - Last Act discounted items - Department Stores Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I never leave reviews, but today my experience at this Macy's location was terrible. The customer service employee was extremely rude. I came in to exchange a jacket from a medium to a large. I first checked the clothing racks to see if they had it since another sales associate from the Ala Moana location told me Kahala Macy's has one in stock. After checking the racks at Kahala Macy's with no luck I decided to walk over to the customer service counter for help. I explained to the worker that Ala Moana Macy's did not have the size I needed and was about to explain how I have already checked the sales floor at this location (Kahala), but I was rudely cut off by the worker saying "you need to check the racks". I then told her I did and she quickly asked, "well did you ask for assistance?", in which I responded, "I came here to ask for assistance". Then she scanned the jacket tag and rudely said, "we have one in Large, check again. Or ask another sales associate for help". Before I could respond she was already calling for the next person in like to come up to the counter. Over all, my experience here was just terrible.
