I needed help with something and there was no one available so I went over to ask a lady in the fine jewelry section if they can find someone to help me out. She told me she was helping someone else even though the woman she was helping out said she was finished. I then talked to another woman in the same section who told me I should ask the other worker on the other side of jewelry (watches). So I walk over to her and she's helping another gentlemen and so I ask her if she can help me out with what I wanted to look at and she told me to go back to the place I started from. Visited this Macys for the first time in over a year and what a disappointment. Accompanied by girlfriend while she shopped in the women's department and what a mess it was. There was clothes all over the floor, thrown loosely on racks, and no apparent order of the clothes on the racks. The line for the dressing room was long and the line to check out was even longer. It took 25 minutes standing in line to actually get to the cashier. Observing customers ahead in line with routine purchases all seemed to take extremely long to process. Once at the cashier the cashier was wearing a mask and trying to understand what she was saying was very difficult. Avoid this store unless you likes messes and bad customer service. read more

Don't shop here. Macy's is NOT about customer service, unlike Nordstrom's, Barney's, or the higher end store. This is a location where you get what you pay for. I attempted to return a Lacoste Men's shirt. Anna, who worked on 7/3/18, at the Lacoste, was so rude. The shirt was unworn, had the tags and return label sticker on it. When she scanned it, she was nit picky that the shirt returned was not the one pictured on the computer screen. The shirt returned was a Classic Polo shirt, but the one on the screen stated a Classic PIQUE polo shirt. Boohoo, really? So I asked to a supervisor. She refused to call one. She pretended to call, but said the line was busy. She told us to go to the "specials returns department." Basically, she didn't want to do her job by assisting me with the return. Does she realize she has a job to serve her customers? Why the hell is she getting paid then? I had to return the following day and went to the same Men's counter, and yet encountered another rude sales associate. This time, a sales associate, Arsen, was behind the counter, ringing up customers. I didn't see that the woman in front of me was waiting in line, she looked like she was already being helped, so I walked up to the counter when the last customer, who had paid, walked away from the counter. Arsen, said in a loud voice, the lady who was standing on the side, was NEXT! I said "OK, you don't have to be rude about it." I eventually had them call a supervisor, Vahag. I told him that these sales associates do NOT care about customer service and Arsen screamed across the department, saying he was right with what he was doing. Noone even included him in the conversation. Please do yourself a favor and shop someplace else who will value your business. This horrible experience reminded me why I do NOT shop at Macy's. Terrible customer service, difficult return policy (180 days), and associates who treat their customers like pee-ons. read more

This review is in regards to customer service on the phone for this Macy's location. I will say it took some time to get someone to answer, but given we're in a pandemic and I'm sure they're doing what they can, not going to dock them for that. Once I did get someone to answer though they were very friendly and committed to getting me an answer to my question. I called with a question regarding a wedding registry, and the person who answered said that the person who could answer my question was the manager who had just gone to lunch, but the woman was very apologetic about that and took my info for the manager to call me back. I honestly wasn't holding my breath for a call back, but within a couple hours the manager called me back and also had amazing customer service. She thoroughly answered my question, and I have to say I was very happy with both of the ladies I chatted with, and very thankful for their grace. I don't usually post reviews for phone customer service because it's usually so bad that I just want to move on with my life, but both of these ladies were great so I felt like I had to shout them out. I've been shopping here at this location regularly, and after the most recent stint, I've committed to never going back. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. In short, this store is managed incredibly badly. Merchandise lays strewn across the store in many departments, at all hours of the day, and all days of the week. The fitting rooms are a chaotic, messy, disgrace. Pricing of clothes is confusing, and often incorrect. Hangars lie all over the place, next to the mounds of jeans, shirts, underwear and shoes. Most importantly, the employees are rude, dismissive, unmotivated, and yes I will say it - lazy. Every interaction with them is slow and tortured. They have a real attitude problem. The merchandise isn't even that cheap - I find that the clothes in particular are not reasonably priced at all. If this store is a reflection of the rest of the Macy's stores nationwide then I can't imagine it will be long before Macy's goes the way of Sears - massive store closures, layoffs - and a slow agonizing death. And if you're an employee who works at this store and you're reading this review - if you hate the job so much, then just quit. But don't take your own personal frustrations out on your customers. You are contributing to the demise of this once great department store. read more

Estée Lauder, I visited the store on Thursday after work, at 6:30! the counter sales person her name was Isabel, Afro-American has the worst customer service ever! She left me hanging w! One left cheek red foundation and the other cheek yellow! I asked her but it's not matching! She told me what do you need now to match your face skin or to match your neck! She was bothered! It's common sense! I felt humiliated. And then she disappeared! I waited then I took a napkin and wiped the foundation and left to sephora! They were nice and caring! Even she gave me a sample of the primer and foundation to wear for a week then I decide if it goes well w/ my skin then I buy it!! This Macy's is scatterbrains! It is too cluttered and the men's section is actually lacking in product selection and the shoe department leaves quite a bit to be desired. It is ok, but I feel too claustrophobic in this Macy's. The Aisles are a bit narrow and it seems as if you keep on bumping into people as you move up and down along the different sections of the store. I will say that the staff is pretty friendly and they take the time to help you, but your mind may be on overload with all the clutter. This is a nice Macy's to shop at, but make sure you bring your Ritalin and ADHD medicine. read more

This review is solely for the manager Rita. My man needed a suit and Macys was having a one day sale, so we headed over to pick one up. I figured I may as well have a look at suits since I have job interviews approaching. Ended up finding 4 great suits for the low price of 500 bucks. My mom wanted to gift them to me since she's on board for my future career as an attorney, so I called her as I was ringing them up. She happened to be at a Macys in CO doing some suit shopping of her own. In the past, I've just read her CC to a Macys associate and signed for it no problem. This one manager was giving me major flack, said it was against company policy, and wouldn't work with me at all. Enter Rita. She just said to put the manager on from the CO Macys so she could authorize the card since my mom was there in person. No big deal. She was pleasant, patient and polite despite my blatant irritation. The pinnacle of customer service. While the transaction ended up taking forever, it happened, and that was thanks to Rita. Just snagged myself a cute coat and shirt for less than $20! Ahh yes...shopping. Makes me happy when I find myself a bargain. So why the 2 stars? Because the overall service at Macy's really blows. I've only shopped here when absolutely necessary because of the way a lot of the workers treat me. I know I don't look like I'm rich or anything, but just because I show up to the department store with my hair in a bun wearing my UCLA sweater doesn't mean I can't afford the Lancôme 'Trésor Gift Set or the DKNY watch. I have been walking through or forced to shop at this Macy's for maybe 8 years now. It has always been a hassle. The service is horrible, nobody helps or pays attention to you. They give you the run-around, and the store is filthy. I figured it wasn't worth reviewing this place because I figured most people have low expectations of this particular department store, until today when I was walking through the second story main entrance and in the main walk way there was a urine soaked diaper on the ground ( and if you don't believe, I took pictures ). If it was near the bathroom, maybe it wouldn't bother me so much. However this was in a busy part of the store in front of the women's department. I don't blame the people that dropped it, I choose to believe they probably didn't know, but the staff was walking around it. They were aware, but did nothing about it. This Macy's has plenty of 1 star reviews, and clearly nothing gets better there, so obviously they don't really care about customer service, but after seeing that diaper ( it was kind of a metaphor for the store ) it's a toilet there. They should shut that whole store down, do a major overhaul training with the staff that should be kept, and fire the rest of the incompetent staff. I have been shopping at this Galleria Macy's for 25 years before I moved out of Glendale. The gradual change towards horrible customer service at this mall particularly at this Macys is unfortunate. Store managers, maybe you need to be more selective in your interview/training process. I guess we are all slowly getting used to and becoming more accepting of this kind of bad/unsatisfactory customer services these days. I wasn't surprised to find your current rating so low. Does anyone even care to check and improve your reviews? As a very busy human being, I do my best to avoid wasting my and anyone else's time. At the fine jewelry department, the associate with whom I was trying to return earrings with told me she needs an approval from a manager and went to call one, (usually managers are in some mystical office somewhere upstairs and take forever to appear, this one came quick, gotta give her points for that), the manager explained to me (while her phone rang interrupting our conversation few times and proceeded to answer her calls without apologizing to me, hello! I'm still here) why she was not able to return the item (I had the receipt but didn't keep the tags attached to the merchandise, remember, these are earrings, in order to put both on, the tags must come off to put them on your ears, therefore, didn't comply with what was printed on the receipt for the fine jewelry return, who reads all that's on the receipt?). I understood and frankly didn't want to continue talking to her and proceeded to put my earrings back in my purse, (I accepted being stuck with $900 earrings that I will not wear) but told her they should inform customers about separate fine jewelry return policy during purchase. She insisted they do. And they put an extra green sticker on it saying so. I told her the lady who sold them to me didn't put that sticker and didn't inform me. She went into anger mode and said "nobody on her staff is a temporary employee they know to inform" and that "this is the only department in the whole store that can't bend the rules and can't make exceptions on returns, we are not renting these out (pointing at the jewelry in the cases), customers come buy these, wear them and try to return, we have a big million dollar rental department upstairs in dresses, they wear them and return after". LADY! I don't care how many used dresses you take back, I'm here for earrings!!! Don't bring your anger/frustration from somewhere else at me. Macy's Glendale Galleria! If your mangers have this kinda attitude and speak to your customers this way, what should we expect from your store? I manage 3 successful, very customer service driven businesses daily, so I know a thing or two about communication...offer some classes to your staff! LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! this was my first time at this macys & glendale galleria mall. Also I got promoted at my job so i had to train at their Americana location for a week and i noticed that glendale galleria is right across the street. my bf and i wanted to come by and buy a michael kors watch as a promotion present for myself. we were looking at the glass case where all the M.K. watches were and noone was there yet all the employees were around us at the other watch cases. finally after 15mins comes by, it was a 30's/40 yr old middle eastern lady/employee or hispanic (wish i knew her name though) and stands right behind the M.K. case where we are. for another 15 mins ..she doesnt say anything, not even a "hello,are you finding everything okay today?" or I dont knowww....a "HELLO?!" i work in retail and yes i hate it when people tell their life stories of their own retail life back in who knows when days..i know i usually say at least a "hello" or even a "are you finding evrything/did you need help with anything?" so she just stood there, my boyfriend EVEN says hello to her and you would expect a reply back right? NOPE. nothing, not even a sigh from her! finally she said oh would you like to see that watch after 20mins of standing there...and shelet me pick my choice and i had asked her if she had any in backstock and she said no..not even cared to try at least. i know i shopped at my hometown macys here in torrance and they usually do that for me. so i was just moved on...and i know macys has to get ppl to sign up for thei credit cards to get ICs (instant credit) for their sales goal. so to save me$ my bf was willing to sign up for a macys card. she didnt offer it, i said it for her..i swear this lady was just mute the whole time. my bf didnt get approved so i charged it on my macys card anyways. but after that she did all the fixings for my watch and I SAID thank you have anice day. the thing that bugged me was her lack of communication and customer service. it was a 0 for me in ratings. i did all the customer servicing for her and i dont even work there/macys! i dont know if this was age discrimination (since weallknow that if you look young -im 24 y.o.- most employees tend to gear more to theolder crowds bc they think they will actually spendmoney but im sorryno matter what age...you should always do customer service to ANY age group..and its 2012, us young kids are making money too!) I came in today with my mom to buy cookware and of course passed by the shoe section on our way there. I was helped by Charles, seconds after I found a pair of sandals I was interested in trying on. I've been to this Macy's location a million times and have never had great customer service from any Macy's employee before. Charles brought out two pairs of sandals, just as I had asked and checked on me and asked if I needed anything else a few minutes after trying the sandals on. What stood out to me is not his ability to multitask, but his PATIENCE and WILLINGNESS to help his customers and go the extra mile to make sure they are happy, with a smile on his face. I always get an annoyed expression or get an answer while an employee is walking away every time I've asked a Macy's employee a question before. He had two people waiting (not very long) by the registers, helping four people get sizes for their shoes, and still made sure he answered questions that other customers had. Considering it's a Sunday, It was very busy, but he handled the craziness very well. Macy's needs more employees like Charles! I was on the third floor about to make a purchase for my bedsheets at the cookware department (was browsing around the third floor and that ended up being the closest register). I forgot her name, but the lady "helping" me asked if I had a Macys card, then she scanned my item... AND THEN... this old man comes to the register holding some coffee maker asking for a price check. No problem right? WRONG. Once the lady saw the man, she completely ignored my existence because apparently, they are "old friends/pals". This review is for the service at the women's shoe department. The floor was a disaster. I asked 3 sales associates on the floor for help and they all directed me to other people. Talk about terrible service and a complete waste of my time. I finally went to the stockroom myself and asked the backstock person to grab me the matching pair. A lady in the back told me customers were not allowed back there but I didn't care. The star is for the only nice person was the cashier (younger, Latino, maybe gay?). The older Macy's employees that have been there for years should learn from him.
