I very rarely shop in store, I stopped by the Lancome counter at Macy's and the lady was super busy. She off the bat didn't seem friendly or happy to help. However she did take her time and matched my makeup perfectly to my skin tone. She was very knowledgeable and ended up being a real sweatheart. She apologized for not being able to help us quicker due to her being the only associate. Which we completely understood. Went to Estee Lauder counter for concealer and loose powder. They went above and beyond to color match me. I have difficult skin to match due to the fact I have melasma and hyper pigmentation. They took their time until I was satisfied with the product colors. I was with my elderly father they offered him some treats and a place to sit and wait. Wonderful service. I wish I had the name of the consultant that helped me but everyone was genuinely helpful and looked after my father. read more

Although the new-car smell has long gone from this Fair field store, Macy's still has some appeal. The variety of items and DEEPLY discounted sales racks keeps me coming back. In fact, the sales racks are one of the only reason why I go to Macy's. I went in today to return a dress I'd bough last week. (On sale, of course) The cashier was very friendly and patient, as I had forgotten my receipt at home. The whole transaction was done quickly and easily. I went into the Clinique counter to purchase smart moisturizing cream and they had a huge sign saying if you spent 35 dollars you got a free sample bag full of makeup and moisturizing samples so even though they were busy I decided to wait and buy the cream I needed since they had the cool give away bag. I waited 15 minutes and then was helped and my purchase was like 85 bucks and so she brings two different sample bags and lets me pick one and then as I'm about to pay she tells me I can come back in 4 days and pick up my sample bag. What??? Why would I want to do that? There is nothing on the sign saying you won't get it now. I pointed that out to her and said I dont even live around here to come back and pick it up later. She says yea its a presale right now so I cant give it to you till the 29th. Long story short after that junk I didnt spend my 85 dollars there!! Very bad business in my opinion and a great way to chase off guests from coming back. Take down your sign which clearly is lying. read more

I've shopped at this Macy's many times before. The clothing department (women's and juniors) is a great place to look for good deals, especially on the discounted items. The shoes department just tempts me so much that I try my best to zoom past it and go down to the clothing. A few months ago, however, while I was picking up Clinique Happy Heart as a birthday present for someone, I experienced some terrible customer service from two ladies behind the Clinique counter. I literally stood in front of the counter for 5 minutes before one of them acknowledged my presence. When she did, she had the snootiest attitude to boot. Those ladies almost made me want to not buy the product and just leave. As soon as I flashed some money, their attitude towards me changed. Great. I walked out of Macy's thinking... "Hmm... it's funny that I have to flash some money before these Macy's employees treat me like an actual customer." To be fair, it was just the Clinique ladies. Overall, Macy's is a great place to shop if you go at the right times and find the right deals. The Clinique counter? Turned off by what happened. Two thumbs down. read more

Cosmetics and lingerie departments seem to have the only decent staff. Had questions while shopping housewares (advertised price was different than the in-store price). So the cashier called for a manager. When he was unwilling to modify the price, I asked for the district manager's number. He didn't give me the DM's number and only gave me the generic 1-800 number. The DM's number is supposed to be accessible, they have a work number for a reason. Just a reminder why I only shop when there's a sale. Can't pay full price for bargain customer service! read more

This is a three-story Macy's hubbing the Westfield Mall entrance. It's medium in size compared to its bigger city stores. The selection is ho-hum, and very conservative. I usually find the basics here, but nothing too "designery." The things I rely on this Macy's for is that they always stock plenty of fishnet tights in the hosiery section, the newest Betsey Johnson jewelry and purses are always on display throughout the accessories department, and Mac Cosmetics--where there is always a token makeup-wearing salesman (yay!). The service is outstanding. The salespeople are really helpful and friendly. Sometimes there's not enough of them to go around on big sale days, so you have to wait. These dedicated salespeople keep me coming back though. The Shoe Department is another story. Every Macy's shoe department that I have shopped at is run haphazardly! What is going on here? You have to tell a salesperson what style and size you want then they run in the back and find it for you. If they find it, they bring you the box. That's it. They don't do anything else! It would be nice if they took the tissue and those sticks out! Most of the time they don't come back and check on you. Then if you want those shoes, you have to find someone to ring them up for you! There is no service in this procedure and it has always irked me. I would rather that they just have the boxes out even though that would probably make a mess. Just so you know I am not complaining about the salespeople, I am complaining about the procedure. All in all I love Macy's and I will return for my favorites. read more

On this occasion, I was returning a product that I received in the mail that was a bit broken. I was hesitant on whether I was supposed to handle the return here, where all the cosmetics/clothing are, or go up to the third floor where the kitchenware was. I took the latter option and ended loosing about 15mins of my life. At this customer service desk, there was only two associates working with a line six ppl waiting! Not even halfway through, one of the associates left! I figure you would stay and help until there was little to no ppl waiting! Gah!! I finally made it to the counter. I only needed to ask how the return service worked. I went back to my car to retrieve the merchandise and returned to use the cosmetic/clothing service desk to handle my return. Once again, time wasted! I stood on one side of the counter with my product and was greeted by Brittney who was already assisting a customer. I was there for about 8mins not knowing that the line was on the opposite side. I then casually made my way over, only to be in a line behind three other ppl! After at least 15mins, I finally made it up. Brittney was pleasant and thankful for my patience, but I wish she would have told me where the line was and suggested another desk to go to. I think she tried calling for help, but I figured nobody was picking up?? Macy's!? You gotta have more workers on the desks when things get busy and answer the phone when help is needed. I was sent an email saying that half was ready for pickup but that I could wait for the other half to come in. Then I received an email saying my first item was released because I exceeded the waiting period. WTH?! Horrible customer service both in store and via 800 #. Purchased a $250 north face jacket prior to a skiing trip. Received in time EXCEPT it was missing the fur trim attachment on the hood and not to mention was packaged in one of those clear office trash bags within the packaging bag. I called to have another jacket resent in hopes of receiving it in time. I first would have to return the product in store (it is now Tuesday) since it was partially purchased with a gift card and then call the 800 # again to have them resend the jacket (needing it by Friday) and of course she informs me that the earliest shipping date would be the Friday I would leave. read more

I came here to look at their mattresses because my boyfriend and I are planning on moving in February and wanted to check out their sales for the holidays. We find a Stearn's and Foster that we liked and proceeded to try it out. Not more than 10 minutes pass by and one of their employee's (an older Asian man) walks up to us and says you guys can't hang out here and tells us to leave. Today I went to return a gift my mother in law got me which was nice sports bra two sizes too big. She lost the receipt and didn't give me a gift receipt. Mind you she's a senior citizen with limited English at times. The thought was nice really. Macy's refused to return or even give me a instore credit without proof of purchase even after returns clerk verified it was their item. This is literally 4 days after my MIL purchased it. I guess it goes to donation pile and you would think Macy's would be a little more lenient with holidays. So folks if you don't give your receiver a gift receipt or the original there is nothing that person can do with the item if it isn't right. That's a 1 star for Macy's and reminds me why I hardly shop here anymore. Many other stores will verify your license and keep track of your no receipt returns that way limiting you to a few returns a year. No bueno Macys. At least the returns cashier could have been a little more pleasant but she was snappy and that made it much worst. Shall not be shopping here anymore. In fact just closed my Macy's credit card recently because I don't shop here often enough and this is one more confirmation why not. read more

Came here last week to buy a gift card. I first went up to the MAC counter there were three employees just standing there and not acknowledging any of the customers so I walked away to find someone else willing to help. The girl behind the Bobbi Brown counter was doing her own makeup LOL and didn't want to look up from her mirror so I walked over to the Benefit counter where thank God there was a nice employee. For CLINQUE Cosmetic Counter - I came in a hot mess, dressed in not so sporty wear w/out any make up on and was treated like ROYALTY by the ever so lovely Haleena who happens to be the manager for this line as well. I have shopped at this counter in various Macy's throughout the Bay Area for date I say over 3 decades back when I was a corporate drone & this experience doesn't even compare to even the ones where I would lay out hundreds of dollars & dressed to the nines. TIP: When purchasing items if you are not told about the up & coming gift specials & events like Haleena did, please do ask. I can't tell you how many times I would be told of up & coming events but that was it. I wouldn't find myself making them & miss out on all the amazing items. Haleena however, went above & beyond by holding my purchase for me so I could come back & get their tote bag filled with over $200-$300 of swag merchandise that marveled even this former cosmetic product junkie. I think you could have the option to have it shipped. I didn't even purchase my items using my MACYS card as it's been zeroed out & wanted to keep it that way. When I came back, still looking like I've been out on the ranch all day, the clerk who's name escapes me greeted me with a genuine smile and asked how she could assist..., then Helena appeared with her endearing smile & heartfelt friendly demeanor. I could hear the angels voices singing in my head as I apologized for my appearance. Haleena not only assured me I was fine, she complemented me on my skin ( still no make up, except eyebrow gel which was a first time experience for me & it was not my normal look). Haleena gets an award for most organic, authentic and lovely experience I've ever had at any cosmetic counter including the pretentious ones at Nordy's & others. read more

Macys Fairfield looks like you are in Walmart or Kmart. The only difference is you pay more and get less service. No customer service at all. Whoever their buyers are they need to go back to school. The shoes are a joke. It is also not a safe mall, will never go there at night, which limits the working people. Nina Ibarra of the fine jewelry department is the BEST around! Initially, my mom and I went to the Walnut Creek location in search of jewelry for my wedding as well as shoes. It was a nightmare. A month or so later (today), I went to the Fairfield Macy's and decided to look around. Nina immediately greeted me despite me speaking to my mom over the phone (I know, I'm horrible) and made it known that she was there for me. I was wearing my work t-shirt covered in dog hair and stains, jeans, and rain boots. My hair was a mess, but she still greeted me and didn't treat me like a fly to swat away. I genuinely appreciated her patience and respectfulness. She didn't hover around me like a vampire ready for my money, but also didn't ignore me like I wasn't worth her time. She quickly took care of me and also patiently waited while I asked my mom for advice and sent pictures. She calculated everything for me so it was crystal clear and also made sure I was aware of the sales/promotions. I'm so thankful for her and honestly loved the purchase I made. No matter how beautiful the item may be, if you're getting crappy service, you don't want to give them your money. Nina is the best. If I ever buy jewelry, I'll be sure to call for Nina first! She made sure to alert me of the warranties as well as insurance. Nina definitely looked out for my best interests and made sure I was educated. She has this earnest vibe. She definitely wanted to help me and I feel good about my purchases. Macy's, you better keep Nina around. She's amazing! Because I made a fine jewelry purchase and it was late at night, she packaged the items smart and carefully. I felt like she was looking after me from start to finish. The worst part about this place is the cologne section for men and the sales associates that remain clueless about what scent is great for men so here buy a 90$ bottle that may or may not smell great. Shoe Dept Review: I don't live in the area so this is not my usual mall but I decided that I could do a couple of my Christmas returns here since I was in the area for New Year's. I knew I would probably wait in line for a few--no big deal. I waited, with one person in front of me returning and buying 4 different items, for 20 minutes. There was no one else in front of me so I just patiently waited my turn, knowing that I picked the wrong line. The lady on the register stepped away and let the salesperson step in to start ringing people up, which is where the experience went sour. The salesperson went to help the person behind me, who only had been trying shoes on, not waiting in line. I asked him "may I ask why I'm being bypassed when I've been waiting in line with no one in front of me?" The answer was "they've been waiting a really long time". Um, no, they had been trying on shoes for a really long time, sitting in chairs. I don't think that just because you are buying something you get to jump into line whenever you decide to make a purchase. The guy was nice about it--but he should never have helped someone out of turn, especially when the line was such a long wait to start with. Pretty ridiculous that customer service is so dead. read more

I'm so upset. My boyfriend bought me this really pretty watch for Christmas. Unfortunately, it is too big. My boyfriend had paid for it with his credit card AND even paid for a warranty on it. I took the watch to Macy's, thinking it would have been a Hassel free experience, to get it sized, and they couldn't even help me because I (which I was not aware of, nor was my boyfriend) did not have the receipt or the tags attached to the watch?!?! I explained to the lady that I was unaware of this, that it wasn't explained to my boyfriend either, and also explained that there was a credit card AND warranty that can trace back to the watch for proof of purchase, but she still couldn't help me and said I would need to go somewhere else to get it sized . I don't understand what is the point of getting a warranty if they cannot do anything without the receipt or original tags. So bummed. read more

The jewelry department here is very disappointing! Bought a ring, but it was too small. That same day i paid for it to be resized. The sales associate told me it would take about 7-10 days. It has now been 3 weeks! Ive called the department for the last 3 days and not once has anyone picked up the phone!! Don't even worth one star. The policy of your return, seriously somebody stole my macy's box that the UPS guy sent to me and then return at Macy (Fairfield, CA). I was surprised that you didn't check credit card or ID to match. Like Ross or Target they ask for DMV card to verify if your credit card not match with the one online. My wife and I shop here often. They have a decent selection, nice salespeople and good quality merchandise.....HOWEVER....their discount coupons would challenge the patience of a saint! They come in the mail regularly and promise bargains galore, but when it comes to using them.............. "Not valid on merchandise produced in any nation outside the NATO treaty. Not good for items with an "e" in the manufacturer's name. Cannot be used for fashion jewelry if designer ever used illicit substances or for any product containing fabric. Discounts can be applied only on the second Tuesday of any week providing purchaser is wearing mismatched socks. Coupons will not be honored if customer is either inhaling or exhaling. Offer void in any state displaying its own flag." Okay, maybe I'm overstating the restrictions, but sometimes it takes a degree in behavioral science to figure these things out! read more

I never wore makeup my entire life until I was acquainted with Brittany at the MAC makeup counter in the Fairfield mall. She took the time to teach me all the basics I needed to know to get my makeup career started. She was never pushy about up-selling me on product. Her biggest concern was making sure I knew how to use the product. In return now I spend around $300 dollars a month on makeup form Brittany because I know she will take the time to teach me how to use the product. She is a absolute true gem at the makeup counter. I will follow her to buy makeup where ever her carrier takes her. I understand how hard it is to give amazing customer service being a business owner, and she does it with ease. She is a truly amazing person and has made me a MAC customer for life. read more

The associate Vanessa C. Sent me a text through the client list and invited me to the Clinique mini class to test out some new products and receive some samples. I went and Vanessa first helped color match me and she did a great job and got me my perfect color. I then went over to the mini class along with 3 other women and another associate Rosalyn began the class. She did an amazing job at introducing herself and asking about all of us and then started the class. She went though each product and explained what it does and why it would benefit us. She chose each product specifically to our skin and color matched everything that needed to be. She was incredibly kind and helpful and even offered, at the end, to get us samples of the products we liked. She did amazing and I would definitely come back to receive help from Rosalyn and Vanessa. read more

After giving this Macy's a chance year after year, I finally have to share my experience. This is an unfortunate, substandard Macy's. The inventory seems as though they took all the seconds from better Macy's and decided to sell them here. Browsing the racks feels more like perusing a discount clothing store: so much inventory haphazardly crammed onto racks. Best of luck getting an associate to acknowledge you. They cannot be bothered. At the Mac counter you'll find you don't rate either. At other makeup counters like Clinique, the organizational skills are such that stock is in utter disarray; thus, no associate can find the product you desire. "Sorry, that color must be discontinued," the associate mumbled. Yet, Chunky Cherry lip balm remains a popular color I can get at any other Clinique counter. I found the same experience at the jewelry counter: annoyance when I asked for help--and no time to spend helping me spend money. No matter what department I have entered, the general attitude of malaise prevails. Don't bother stopping by here for anything other than an experience that will leave you discontented. read more

Macy's in Fairfield is no fun to shop at. Long lines to pay for your purchases. If you need a salesperson to check out they tell you to find them since they are working 4 departments at the same time. So disappointing to finally find one and try to use a coupon then find out everything you spent an hour shopping for is excluded from using the coupon. The VIP coupons have too many rules and exclusions. So happy to have discovered other shops that carry similar products with much better prices. read more
