This is the absolute worst place to shop at it sucks so bad, it's not even a joke. I went to go return and exchange a Christmas gift. A kind awesome employee by the name of Lindsey was kind and actually had the patience to help me, she deserves a MASSIVE raise. So anyways the next day I went to return some things I forgot to bring with me, I went In Same place where I was checked out and I was horribly attended by Diana a cruel lady who looked very impatient and no face to actually hide it. You see when I was attend by Lindsey. There was no problems. Everything went by so smoothly less than five minutes, but when I attended by Diana the whole process of returning two items took 17-ish minutes, what made me write this reveal with the fact that she yelled at me because I had made a comment that if it was not returnable, it would it was fine and I would just take it back. Also, there is no employees on the two top floors it's possible to find someone that actually works in the top floors anyway that's just my experience. It was very horrible. read more

I am plus size, I have shopped Macy's for 35+ years . Things have been moved around and now there is maybe 25 ft devoted to plus size. The racks were sparse. Ugly t shirts and leggings were all that hung. No nice slacks, tops blouse and what I went for A Christmas top. PLUS WOMEN WANT TO LOOK NICE TOO. AND WANT TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS. Update: Why did I come back to the women's store and what happened to this place? It's so cluttered and disorganized now. And what's with the sub-stores inside of the stores like the sunglasses and jewelry counters? It reminds me of Sears or Kmart from my childhood, but that's probably an insult to Sears and Kmart. At least they were more organized with purpose/flow. They do have sections of clothing but other than prom and bathing suits, the layout isn't clear and doesn't make sense. A lot of the styles look like they belong in a thrift store. But not in a good way. I mean if you are really jonesing for a flashback to tacky Mervyn's clothes in the 90's, you might LOVE this place. The make-up area is cluttered and chaotic... like the Sephora in JCPenney but way worse. The perfume gals hang out in the center, near the mall entrance, talking to each other and blocking the pathway of customers, not offering any help. Hey Macy's, you could save a ton of money by replacing them with mannequins and get the same effect without being as obnoxious. This can't possibly be a Macy's. Now maybe some kind of indoor swap meet, sure. My experience at this location could only be described as, eye-opening. I'm not sure whether it has to do with people being caged up at home during Covid that has thrown off their interpersonal skills, or that this is simply their new norm when it comes to customer service, or better yet the lack thereof. My visit went like this... Let me start off by saying that I am a Macy's credit card holder, and rarely get the chance to use my card in store, as I am usually busy working, or taking care of my family, however, in July of this year (yes, I have lagged on posting my review), I went into the women's store of this location to pick up a gift card, as well as a few gifts for my daughter. As I was unaware of the layout, I approached an employee to ask where I could find a few things. She looked to be about 9 months pregnant, and I thought to myself what a hero she was for still working. She was engaged in a conversation with another woman whom was wearing all white, in seven different shades mind you. I then patiently waited for the women to finish their conversation, though, after about 3 minutes I realized that these were two people who were so caught up in saying horrible things about their fellow employees, as well as the customers, that it could be some time before they ever acknowledged me, even though both had seen me standing there waiting. I then interjected, and asked the employee where I could find the fragrance section, both of them stopped talking and glared at me. The employee then replied, "Does that look like my department?". I then asked if she could point me in the right direction, to which she replied, "Can you not see that we are still talking?". By now, I had grown impatient, pregnant or not, she had made me feel disrespected. So, I promptly asked to speak to her manager. This is when the other woman, whom was attempting to match seven shades of white, turns to me and says, "I am a manager. What is the problem?". I thought to myself, she must be joking. Neither of them had a name-tag, so I asked the manager her name, and she said it was Charro. I then said "Thank you Charro, because if you weren't here to help me, I might have brought my business elsewhere." She quickly laughed in my face, and asked "Is that a threat?", to which I replied with a gentle middle finger. Granted, I should have reacted better, but in the end, I decided that it was time to cancel my Macy's card, and take my money elsewhere. Luckily, Nordstrom was there to take up the sale, as well as offer me a great introductory rate on a new department store card, along with excellent customer service. This is the 2nd time I've gone to the fine jewelry department and have been completely ignored while three employees just chat amongst themselves in the costume jewelry counter. We have been Macy's customers for over 40 years. The former Chairman of Macy's (Phil Schlein) used to be our neighbor in the Napa Valley. We haven't been to the Carlsbad location for several months. What a disappointment!!It looks like a "final clearance outlet store". No quality at all. Very messy. And......of course: the down escalator was not working. I was in the elevator with a lady and she said"you can count on the fact that either the escalator or the elevator is broken. Last week it was the elevator, today it's the escalator". Very sad to see what used to be a flagship for clothing, degenerate to a basement discount store. The store manager here obviously has no pride of workmanship. I haven't been in a J C Penny store for 40 years. Guess I'll go next door and try it. It certainly can't be worse than Macy's. read more

Miyuki and Rodney were WONDERFUL! I was there this past Friday, July 21st around 6pm. Rodney was ringing me up and he was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I ended up purchasing something else and he was very patient as he rang me up again. I do not carry my Macy's card with me, so I had to show my ID and enter my SS, which takes time, and he was awesome about it. Then Miyuki went in the back to get me a large Macy's bag to place my mother's birthday gifts in. She also brought tissue paper and wrapped everything up nicely. She was very chatty with me as we talked about my mom and her upcoming birthday. Customer service like this goes a very long way! Great duo!!! read more

I had the worst customer service experience that I've experienced today. I'm not sure what the lady's name is, but she was older with a blonde bob-like haircut and glasses. My partner and I wanted to buy a Dutch oven, but the colour we wanted was only available in the display model. We attempted to buy the floor sample, as it had a price tag attached to it. Right from the start, this lady started displaying attitude towards us. She didn't say anything while we were waiting in line, she simply pointed at us and used her finger to signal us to come. After we explained our situation, she informed us that we couldn't buy the floor sample. We then asked if we could place the order with her to get it shipped to the store, but she said they didn't have it online either. Mind you, she didn't even check, she just brushed us off. I was starting to get annoyed but asked my partner to grab the Dutch oven in another colour, which were right behind the checkout line. In the 10 seconds that it took for him to get it, and with me standing right in front of her, this lady walks off right out of Macy's. She continued walking and left us speaking to ourselves. I tried to get her name but wasn't successful unfortunately. I don't understand why people work in retail and customer service when they're so bad at it. read more

This location of Macy's has gone downhill so fast! It's fairly obvious they just don't care about customers returning to their store. I've been shopping at this Macy's location for years and the past few trips make me never want to return again! The Cosmetics counters and purse section are the only well kept and put together sections in the whole store. The shoes and clothing department are usually a disappointment. Shoes are everywhere, extremely unorganized and only one or two employees working. The usual wait time to be helped is about 15 minutes and then another 15 minutes if you need a different size. For the amount of people shopping in this department they really need more employees to help out or a better system of servicing the customers. The clothing department was just disgusting! There were more cloths on the floor in piles than on the racks. The store overall is very outdated and needs to be updated. Most all the carpets have stains and half the displays were falling apart. Overall, skip this spot unless you know exactly what you want! read more

This Macy's is not as bad as people say! I think the fact that the mall is rundown gave most shoppers a bad impression of all the stores in there, including Macy's. I shopped at the Home and the women's shoes sections a couple times (separate stores like most other Macy's) and every time I was there the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. For example, the lady at Home pointed out to me exactly where I needed to go to pick up my online order, and the staff who walked past me all greeted me with a smile. Prices are all the same across the board for any Macy's location you go to. Selections are not bad either especially this is not a popular location. And of course, no crowds most of the time!! It's also convenient that the Macy's men's and home is located right next to the escalator, although the escalator can be hard to find but that's just the problem of the mall instead, not Macy's problem. read more

I have always felt like this Macy's is a little behind all the other ones that I go to. It really badly needs a remodel. I also feel like they are usually out of stock and sizes for items that I am looking for. I like the people in the makeup department. I feel like they are very knowledgeable about their counter and other brands' counters as well. They are very super helpful and always acknowledge you when you are in their area even if they are busy. Yesterday , I went with my mom to exchange some shoes. I love that you can swipe the card you used to make returns because they can pull the receipt up that way. A special thank you to Davy who was helping us. I know my mom can be very difficult and I appreciated your patience and professionalism. I feel like you handle the situation with her very well, so kudos to you. If I was rating off of your work alone , it would have been 5 stars. As for the actual shoe department... in an area where people are trying on shoes, people look down at the floor to see the shoes on the feet and as a result the actual floor. The carpet here is really, really gross. I was extremely paranoid about stepping on the floor to try on the shoes I wanted to exchange my shoes for. Maybe Macys should think about making the investment to replace the carpet. read more

This store seems understaffed. It took a long time for the one person working in the shoe department to go find sizes. All the customers had a significant wait. The escalator between the second & third floors is out of order. The women's department is across the mall & down from the men's & home goods. It means you have to pay for purchases in one before shopping in another. It appears it is ready for a remodel. read more

Went here before Christmas with some gift cards to burn up and some presents to get. Wasn't too bad - hate having to walk through the stench of the perfume department to get anywhere. And the TV by the women's dressing rooms AKA the men's waiting area is tuned to infomercials. We spent $200 in gift cards and $100 in cash. The single star is for today's visit, to return a couple of items. Although they're happy to let you buy things anywhere in the store, you have to return items to the department they came from - which in our case meant we had to wait in three different lines to return three items. And then they won't return your money - they pro-rate it back on gift cards! I tried to think of a reason why this makes sense, and the only thing I can come up with is it discourages returns. If you buy anything from them with a gift card, be sure that anything you pay above and beyond goes on a separate receipt so you can actually get your money back. Better yet, don't buy from them at all. With "customer service" like this it's no wonder people are choosing to buy online or from discount stores, and department stores are going out of business. read more

Years ago, Macy's used to be my favorite place to shop. Those days are long past. I purchased a dress online and wanted to return it along with a gift card I wanted to use. Returning the dress was easy and fast. After I shopped around a while I found a shirt I wanted to purchase. There was a long line at this cashier. I think the person in front of me was opening a mortgage because of how long it took. When I finally got the cashier, it rang up $3.00 higher than the MSRP. Good thing I noticed it or I would have had to make another trip here. Macy's is headed to bankruptcy and I can see why. They need more personnel and some departments need an update. I can see why Amazon is king as I won't be back to Macy's for a long time. Also I bought a sofa from here about a year ago. The fabric is falling apart. Ugh. read more

Escalator from third floor down to main level is not operating. Elevator and stair wells are difficult to find. There are unclear directions to apparently a functioning escalator but sales associate informed me that it is also not functioning. This is huge fire hazard which needs to be reported to the fire department. read more

This is an intersting Macy's because the mens store and the women's store are located in 2 different locations in the mall. Also, the men's store looks nicer and cleaner where as the Macy's women's store, in a different location, looks old and not so neat. Not sure why, I am guesing Macy's rented extra space a long time ago to have more product and selection. And the product and selection in Macy's is very good choice. As a kid and teen I used to come to the mall a lot, then I got a job and realized hanging out here was fun, but ultimately not constructive. This caused me to not come to the mall for 4-5 years at a time. This includes the department stores attached. I shopped online as I knew my size and knew my brands. Funny thing is I remember coming here and shopping in the young man's section because I wasn't nearly as "surfer" as you'd think. I wore a lot of jackets and not sweaters and the same can be said now. Now I head to the dress attire, where has all my youth gone. Prices are still the same as where I remember, they have a pretty large selection of styles and honestly I've never felt like the service here was special. I'll give them that people are consistent. Once you get an associate to help you they do their best, but in todays day and age I just need stock check. I don't need help matching, or building my wardrobe. My suggestion is to shop the sales and look for coupons, sign up for a Macy's card. Their product lines are better quality and cut than Kohls. read more

Im really disgusted with the way my husband was treated at Macys last week. I had a company Christmas Party and my husband was looking to buy new dress pants and a button up shirt. While we were looking at some nice Calvin Klein pants an older man walks up to us and says that they have limited stock on everything in the store. It didn't matter because we found my husbands size. He then directed my husband to a different section of the store. My husband walks back to me with not the greatest looking pants. I asked why he had those and not the Calvins. I said you need to get the other ones they looked much nicer. So we go get the pants and the man tells him "Those are expensive. That's why I showed you the other pants." I am not lying when I say I wanted to choke that man. My husband said "I am aware of the price. The reason we came here was to buy quality." Now we walk away and begin to look for shirts. This man is now following us and recommending shirts to go with the pants. He was beyond annoying. He didn't let us shop! He then begins to take my husbands measurements. I told him that i knew his measurements. He proceeded anyway. My husband and I are now really annoyed. So he asked if there are any other suit stores. The man then repeated they have low stock and that there is another suit store downstairs. He really ruined it for us. He judged us. read more

I find pretty good deals for summer/party/special occasion dresses and shoes. Recently, I came in to ask for the museum pass and the lady that assisted me was super nice. Unfortunately, they were avail at the time. Second visit, the associates were busy conversing amongst themselves. I asked about the pass and one of the associates didn't even know what I was talking about. The other pointed it out at the register where the other associate was. I asked if I could grab a couple (one for a friend) and one associate said "Oh well, it's good for 4 people." Well, what if I wasn't going with the other person? So I've been coming to this Macy's for a few years now but in the last few months I've been coming about once a week. I really love how they have sales just about every week and when they don't have sales the have a nice size clearance section. Okay so this Macy's has a really huge men's section which can take me about an hour just to hunt down some good deals. This Macy's has been here forever and because of that it needs a little updating but that's okay because the deals are great and I can look past the eye sores. Now on to the employees in the men's department. I've never had a bad experience here and all the employees that I dealt with are pretty friendly.
