A LIVELY, YET PRICEY MACY's! It's true, North County clothing stores are pretty expensive compared to their counterparts in other locations of SoCal. My Mom came in looking for a dress and managed to find some nice options, however we were shocked with some of the sticker prices. Some of the items were not up to par with quality to warrant an up charge. Come prepared to pay, just saying. Anyways, we were shopping for an upcoming series of special events and we found some great stuff. Our wallets weren't happy, but we were. The cashiers were polite, helpful, and surprisingly talkative. It's nice to see Macy's staff who care about their customers! The store was neat and organized, there's plenty of fitting rooms and the waiting area by the fitting rooms had comfy seating. I found the store to be very accessible, I utilized the elevator (the decline escalators were broken) as I was recovering from a knee injury during my visit. read more

Macys you never fail to disappoint. I was walking around with a purse and a wallet that I wanted to purchase. I asked where I could pay for them and I was told any register, three registers later no one was able to cash me out. I left the bag and the wallet on my the counter by the perfumes. It's sad to see stores go but this is why it's so much easier to just shop online. read more

Macy's at The Shoppes at Carlsbad is considered one of the largest Macy's department store. It has two branches inside The Shoppe, the main branch and the other branch is for Men, and Home Decor. The main branch was very clean and organized. It had a wide variety of brands of clothing, Cashmere sweaters, accessories, perfumes and colognes, cosmetics, soirée dresses and more. I visited also the Men and Home Decor.There was a huge sale on dinnerware as Lenox, and cookware as The Cellar and All - Clad, kitchenware, appliances as Breville, bed linen, Christmas decorations , furniture, and more. There was significant markdown of prices for Christmas. The staff were very nice. I enjoyed shopping at both stores and had great experience. read more

This is one of the larger Macy's store that happends to be located in Carlsbad. Their clothing and accessories selection is top-notch, with a wide range of brands for every style and budget. I was here looking for evening gowns for my mom and sister and there were so many gowns in shapes and sizes as well as colors to choose from. The staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with finding sizes or recommendations. Overall, the store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. However, the dressing rooms needed some TLC. There were tags on the floor and lots of strands of hair as well. Looks like no one cleaned the fitting room areas recently. Still, a good shopping experience. Prices are clearly marked and there are additional coupons that you can use. If you need a size and they don't have it in store, they can place the order online for you with free shipping to home or store. Quite convenient! read more

Honestly, this store is decent. It certainly doesn't have a luxurious feeling because nothing at the mall exudes luxury, but hey it's like an upscale Target. I'm actually a fan because you can find the essentials here and get what you need. I have come here a number of times for clothes for my teen girls for special occasions or for workout wear. The quality is far better than the junky and cheaply-made fast fashion at the name brand stores in the mall. I was relieved to find prom dresses here at Macy's that wouldn't fall apart after wearing once and the dresses looked lovely- not skin-tight for a 16 yr old. we've been in the perfume section many times and, always had a pleasant interaction with the personnel, this last time though, we were looking for our favorite salesperson when, a lady intercepted us and ask if she could be of help, i hesitated, but thought "sure" and said to her we were looking for a dior product, to what she said "oh! we don't have that! we don't carry dior in this store!" me and my lady were surprised to hear that, i said thanks and she were on her way, we ask the next lady and she directed us straight to the product we wanted! maybe next time cristal will guide us with knowledge and passion for her job! Spent 40 minutes trying to make a return here. I just wanted a refund back to my account. After the managers got involved trying to fix it. Ran through the return process 3 times then they hand me a receipt saying I will receive a check in 10 days...... avoid avoid avoid! Pay to just ship the items back. Yesterday, I had a frustrating experience at Macy's that almost made me walk away as a customer, but I want to recognize Zayne and Karen because they genuinely turned the situation around and made me feel heard. I bought an item and returned it the very next day, but during the return, I was given the wrong type of receipt. Because of that mistake, the system couldn't identify the return correctly, so I didn't get my refund back to my card like I should have. Instead, I've been waiting since November 10 for a check in the mail, and it's only store credit, not an actual refund, something that would've been avoided if it was processed correctly the first time. To try to resolve it, I had to come back to the store twice, spending extra time, money, and gas (which isn't free). The first time, the staff was helpful. But yesterday, I ended up dealing with a manager who wouldn't listen. She kept shutting me down and insisting the system was correct without even looking carefully at my receipts. It felt like she was more focused on proving me wrong than actually solving the issue. It was exhausting and honestly almost made me reconsider ever shopping at Macy's again. That's when Zayne stepped in and realized the situation needed someone who actually knew what they were doing. He brought in Karen, and everything changed from there. She took the time to listen, looked at the receipts, acknowledged that a mistake happened, and worked through it instead of just repeating policy at me. Karen was creative and genuinely cared about resolving the issue, not simply pushing me away. Thanks to her effort, and Zayne recognizing that the situation needed real help, I finally got a resolution and walked out feeling like someone at Macy's truly valued me as a customer. What started as a very stressful and frustrating experience became a positive one only because of them. If more employees handled situations the way Zayne and Karen did, customers would feel much more confident doing business here. I sincerely hope Macy's recognizes their efforts. I have shopped at this store for many years, but a few months ago I decided to try to find a foundation that was more suited for my skin type. I stopped at the Lancôme makeup counter and was quickly greeted by Doria. She explained everything to me about the Lancome foundation, and also a serum that I did not know about to go with that foundation. I've just always had luck here but honestly you can find anything you need as they have a great selection. Probably my favorite Macy's for shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, and clothing. The shoes can be very hit or miss but their last chance selection is some of the best I've seen. I've haven't found many purses that I've loved over the past few years but they did use to have a larger selection. During winter they have the best selection of coats as well! P.S. Their men's and home location on the other side of the mall has a fantastic men's section. So much to choose from! read more

The bring in new merchandise, have centralized the check-out system so they don't waste personnel and they have wonderful staff. went here during the week to get work shoes. The selection was very very slim, and honestly it was a whole mess. No one bothered to help me until i was clearly leaving the store a lady rudely mumbled a let me know if you have questions. I then turned to Macy's online since the store had nothing to offer me. I found a pair of Lucky brand loafers that would work for me. I noticed the same shoe was on sale on Lucky brands website for a much more discounted price. Knowing most places price match, i contacted customer service chat online. I informed them about the other sale in which they said they don't compete with other competitors. I found it funny since they're selling the same brand. The customer service person then ENDED THE CHAT ON ME. Seems like macys customer service is terrible online and in person. Go figure. I had reviewed the excellent customer service Joyce gave me a while ago and I guess I came in expecting all the customer service reps to be as highly trained and skilled as she. I was in for quite a reality check. I needed to return 3 of 6 pairs of pants I ordered for my mom. She doesn't drive anymore and I help care for her. I was greeted by Zane who took my unworn tagged returns and said they were 2 days over the return policy. I apologized and explained that I had to take my mom to Florida for 2 1/2 weeks to go to her sister's funeral and since I work and help take care of my mom I hadn't had any days off till now. He basically said "too bad". When I explained Joyce's previous kindness when this happened to me once before he then said that I can't expect to get that that level of service every time. I felt he was rude to me. I work in customer service and I would never speak to a customer like that . I knew he could have helped me . For whatever reason Zane chose not to . I did buy everything at Macys, from Mattresses, sofas , patio furniture, jewelry , clothes , beauty items and gifts. I have their top tier credit card. This was my go to store. Zanes attitude and unprofessional comments has made me feel that Macys does not value me as a customer . I am going to shop elsewhere. read more

Please realize that brick and mortar stores have changed, but the veteran leadership here in Carlsbad, Ca. really does try to compete for the customers business. I will sometimes order online, with a ship to store option from time to time, because the stores just cannot shelf everything. Store manager HOLLI, has set the standard for other top level retail department stores have had to recognize. The in store retail clerks do their very best to satisfy the needs of the customer. Been coming to this location since we moved to San Diego over 6 years ago. The staff are very helpful and it's always a pleasure walking around finding good sales or new items that actually fit. I also buy my husbands clothing from the men's store which he loves. There's always a great variety. As I tent to also shop on Macy's app, at times items delivered don't fit well or aren't as nice in person. There's a convenient return station on the first floor which is helpful. Typically the lines are short and move quickly. read more

The check-out clerk in the Men's Department was spewing hate speech with the customer in front of me, one that included murdering Democrats. This made me never want to return to the Carlsbad location as well as any other Macy's locations in the US. He was a gray-haired clerk of about 60 years old, slight build, and short. This store is the reason I STOPPED shopping at Macy's stores, they repeatedly have signs for sales. Example:"Womens shoes 40%off tickecked price" on a table of shoes. Then when you get to the register it's full price. The sales associate said "We only have to have one item on sale to put the sign there" This is a bait and switch aka fraudulent advertising. This falls below what I knew Macy's standards to be. This is the second time this store has done this (they do it all the time but I stopped shopping there due to the false signage) I went back yesterday hoping it was better it is not. There are zero sales signs for Memorial Day . 2.there was no greeting provided by older gentleman sitting in his chair nor did he bother to get up . 3. I looked around for a long time he never acknowledged me at all 4. The displays for the king coil were not in working order 5. The mattresses were stained horrible 6. I had to ask for help when he approached with no smile he said Mattress take 1-3 weeks to get that is what he said ! 7. Macys has a name for people to buy that have money that have the macys card . They obviously need new management . They have all the top brands , they could make so much money . They either have a bad training program or and or bad pay 8. Today I visited this location and it was a really positive experience. The employees were super friendly and helpful and the store was organized really well. I tried on a few dresses that started at a price point around $100 and they were all marked down to prices below $20.00. I was in complete shock and super happy.
