I'm a big fan of your parades, but your Carlsbad location is a let down. This particular department is the Men's section. Directly outside of the store is a Great Khan's, so I don't know if I'd go buying clothes from here regularly (unless you don't mind smelling fresh of Mongolian BBQ). The most frustrating part of the visit was the lack of staff. For a Saturday morning (more like afternoon, 1PM), they had four people covering the entire second floor. I waited in line behind a lady purchasing socks... I stood a distance back to keep the walkway clear and respect the woman's transaction, but when she walked away, so did the cashier! WTF?! I could have sworn we'd made eye contact and the cashier had said, "I'll be right with you." I stood there for a good five minutes before I found someone stocking seasonal items and asked for help. The item I bought (a car vacuum cleaner) didn't even work well... so much for quality products. I'm going to have to return it during my next visit to this mall. Utter sadness. This review is intended for the home furnishing department: I do admit we were there on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of December, so we expected a larger crowd. Our goal was to return some gifts that we had received for our wedding. We had three items with only two receipts. We approached a cash register station and there were already a few people waiting in line. After a good solid 6-9 minutes of waiting we are next up. We ask about returning merchandise that we had received from our wedding registry. The woman seems a bit hurried, and dismissive as she responds, "Oh, uh, I think Pat at the wedding registry area can help you, I think I saw her going over there." So after waiting we are sent away. Annoying! We find Pat, she is helping a customer inefficiently too... she has to go somewhere and do something as she is helping the customer, while we wait. I'm tired of waiting more, I'm certain that we could have returned the items at the original cash register location so I go back. Turns out we can! I put myself back in line. They are pretty slow there, I don't think they always know what they are doing. It took a while. In the end, thanks Pat and Deborah for working it out together and getting us our gift card for our returns. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered an item online for pick up today. And they told me "it is not available for pickup" I went and found the item that I purchased online for pick up in that store, and they told me I needed to pay for the item I already paid for AGAIN. They were very rude and I had to wait there for an hour after work because they would not let me pick up the item I already paid for. No wonder Macy's is going out business. read more

Macy's had a one day sale this past Saturday, 9/6. They advertised Door Buster sales. Do you think you could fine any sales clerks? And if you did, there were 15 people in line. The sale was 9 to 2. At 1:45 all the sales clerks left their stations and you had to walk around to find anyone. No way was I going to wait 45 minutes to pay, and then have the computer say the sale was over. Very very very poor service. Must be bad management, as I went to management office to voice my concern and it was empty too! Macy's spends tons of $$$ advertising these sales, and then not enough people to check the customers out, so the customers leave. I would suggest they check their video cameras to see the lines and the amount of people that put their items back. Too bad, because I like Macy's over all. read more

If Macy's wants to survive as a brick and mortar building they better step up there customer service. We have been to 4 different registers and one LSU said she is only allowed to ring up shoes! His is right after I saw them ring up another person with different items other than shoes. If you are splitting your stores to be men and women's, you should be able to ring everything re men's in men's! read more

Sad to see a clothing store in such dire need of a facelift. Good thing for me is that Macy's always has a few items I want and the prices are very good. But the Carlsbad store is borderline dangerous as noted by several caution signs at the northeast entrance. The elevator was not working and neither was the airflow....hard to shol and try on clothes when you're perspiring and thirsty. Supposedly remodel will start soon .... I would think it would be less expensive to move to a new location. Regardless of what I just said, I will pop in there from time to time as they have items I want at prices I can afford. read more

My main issue with Macy's is the fact the clothes are overly priced. It is not like money rains from the sky nor money grows on trees, literally. I would be lucky to find something worth buying on the sales rack. I would only buy clothes from here if there was a sale going on. It can be difficult to find someone to help you out, as it feels like there is not many around with how quiet it can be besides the music going on. Other than that, the place is clean. There are plenty of bathrooms around the 2 floors. There is a restaurant within Macy's that you can go to, which is nice and private. read more

I used to come here frequently as a kid, growing up, in fact we ALWAYS park here as the entrance to this mall, which, I hope will keep renovating because this mall needs some serious help. This is a lower tier Macy's. Macy's has different tiers depending on demographics, city, and other factors. The selection here is pretty god-awful. I'm sorry. It's really not the best and compared to the other Macy's and other stores, I get confused by why people would shop here. Sometimes they have pretty good sales, sometimes the levi's area, the only area I kinda shop at if I were to be here, has some discounts. Overall. I don't get it. This is regarding the Macy's home store in the same shopping center as the Macy's department store. I bought a power reclining chair this week. It was delivered on time at 11 A.M. today. The men brought it in, put it together and showed me how the controls worked, simple, just four buttons. The guys left, I sat down and reclined in my new chair and life was good. A little later I went to get up and the darn chair wouldn't return to the upright position. It's now about 11:30, I've had the chair In my house for a half an hour and only for about 15 minutes after the delivery men had left, and the thing was already broken. My wife and I talked to four different people at Macy's, both the store and customer service, to try to get the problem solved. I had paid over a thousand dollars for a chair that was unusable and taking up lots of space (it's fully reclined, remember) and I had my old chair removed this morning to make room for the new one. The people at Macy's were useless in trying to help me. They seemed to not care at all. The soonest they will do anything is Tuesday. I'm standing here with no chair to sit in, a useless thing taking up much of the space in my small family room area and no one cares. I had asked the salesman, Mark Horning, to have the store manager call me, which Mark said he would do. But it is now almost 3 P.M. and no one has called. JoAnna knew her products and shared in my love for perfume. Very disappointed in the fine jewelry dept. My husband dropped my Michael Kors watch off a MONTH ago so the battery can be replaced. We went today to check on it since we never received a phone call that it was ready. They said they called, but my husbands phone shows no record of a missed call. Anyways... I get my watch back and it's filthy. Grimy gunk in all the crevices of the band. The girl who helped us watched me as I tried to clean it myself on my shirt, and said nothing. No offer to clean it. Shame on you Macy's! I was being verbally accosted by a homeless woman in the women's clothing section. She was following me around screaming at the top of her lungs and the ladies at the cashier desk told me to just ignore her. I stood there waiting for security to come for over 20 minutes. If I could give no stars I would. I purchase most things from Macy's, but no longer will I order large items, ie, a rug from macys.com. I returned the rug on 9/6, (too large) for them to ship back to a third party vendor. After multiple phone calls to customer service I still do not have my credit of over $425.00! Every time I call I'm told a different story, and they they say they can't find the rug. It's bad enough you have to repeat the same story over and over, but to end up being so frustrated when you hang up is a horrible problem. I'm totally screwed, because they have the rug and I don't have my credit. Macys has lost a good customer and I'll never go back. read more

My experience was outstanding due to the professional experience I received from Martin Bailey. I walked in super scrubby from a long day of work and he treated me with the utmost respect. Wow! I don't think I have ever received such outstanding customer service like I did today in the mens department from an associate named Lou E. This older gentleman took time to step away from the register and show me quite a few different deals on their luggage. He had so much patience and was such a professional, didn't stop until we found a set I was satisfied with. Just as the previous reviewer said back in Aug 2017, I too have been trying to call Macy's in the Westfield Mall in Carlsbad and have not gotten through! Macy's has this ridiculous phone system that never allows you to press 0 for the operator, so you can intercept and reach a real person. All I wanted to know was whether they carried a particular brand of wallet in men's accessories, but the phone system repeatedly said there was no answer at that dept. I guess we now have to expect this lack of service from brick and mortar stores that hire the minimum amount of floor clerks. I actually get better service when I either chat online or email a company representative, even though it might take a day or two for them to respond. Shame on you Macy's! read more

I have not had any issues here. Staff is available if you need assistance. Otherwise, you do not see them until you make your purchase. They're busy on the floor putting clothing back, etc. They really leave you alone to shop if that's what you want. Sometimes one of them will say hi. Lots of parking. The restrooms need to be updated. read more

This is strictly for the furniture department. We bought a King bed two years ago, only to have it be defective less than a year later. We then purchased a new mattress in exchange for the first one. This time we went with a different model that was rated with rave reviews on comfort. Here we are a little over a year later to have the SAME EXACT thing happen. It was as if we were sleeping in pits, each sides of the bed sunk in. Once again we called Macy's to have someone access the mattress to replace it. The guy came in my home with his shoes on, stepped all over my blankets and bedding while measuring the mattress and taking pictures. He then tells me they might not exchange it because the mattress tag wasn't on it. Who knows what happened to the tag they come off from moving or taking sheets off. Moving on I of course called to speak with customer service who tried very hard to have an exchange made, in which they agreed after seeing the pictures that the bed was damaged and that this "series" was discounted due to this issue. Saturday we we supposed to have a new mattress delivered. My husband stayed home from work to wait for them only to have no one show up. I once again called only to be told "oh no one called you?" We don't have that mattress anymore or anything comparable to exchange. ‍ Finally I was so fed up I asked to just return my money and pick up the defective mattress. Which they did. However they told me it would be 7-10 business days for them to send the money back to my card when I was told on the phone it would be 24-48 hours. I have never felt more frustrated then dealing with this whole situation. We ended up purchasing a new mattress at an independent furniture store for way less money better quality and a 10 year warranty. Sorry Macys I will NEVER shop with you again. read more

Girls are scantily clad in clubwear, not business attire like the gentlemen...it's hard to take someone serious when they're dressed like hormonal, attention seeking, high school girls. This store used to be great. You could find all kinds of fantastic bargains on really nice clothes. Now it seems like no one bothers to put things in order. The women's clothing section is always a mess. Clothes are pulled off of racks and tossed on the floor. Nothing seems to be hung with any kind of theme in mind. Just stuff hanging on circular racks, willy nilly. Clothing is piled in the dressing rooms and on racks outside of the dressing rooms. It's just a mess everywhere you look. There always seems to be a long line at the register, if you do finally find anything you decide to purchase. I went to return a pair of shoes that I bought online, I love them so much, unfortunately, they look old, I guess they are display shoes, so I told the guy name JOEL the reason why I have to return them. The whole time this guy gave me unwelcome attitude and suspicious eyes like I was a liar, another lady who also works there came out and check the heels too. I shop at Macy's frequently, whether it be online or in store. I just recently moved to oceanside and went to this location to return something I bought at another Macy's. According to them they couldn't return an unused Fitbit even though I had receipt. I told them I was never told this when I purchased the item 2 weeks ago. They basically told me that wasn't their problem. I asked for management and was told a manager wouldn't be in until 3 hours later. I told them that was a bunch of crap and I know there is always a manager on duty. That's where they proceeded to tell me there was a store manager but not department manager and the store manager wouldn't be able to do anything for me. I told them that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard and want to speak to manager. She shows up and reiterated what the customer service agent said and honestly seemed like she hated her job, people in that industry should have people skills, she was definitely lacking those. I grabbed my item and receipt, stormed out of that disgraceful excuse of a mall (all under construction and looks like an abandoned mall from the walking dead) and went and returned item at another Macy's. WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN. Managers name was "Z" because the name on her tag was too complicated for even her staff to pronounce. Honestly deserves no stars. read more

I think people should know that I paid for the "white glove" delivery service, since I was not going to be home at the time of the delivery. I choose not to go with Wayfair thinking the quality of Macy's furniture and service would be better. Don't make the same mistake I did! Use Wayfair, I love everything I ordered, delivery was free and it came within a week. At Macy's, I ordered in Jan, received 1/3 of the shipment in March, the other 2/3 can't be confirmed because it takes up to 10 days for the their systems to update. Of the 8 pieces I ordered, 3 were damaged beyond repair in the "white glove" setup, 1 was not even put on the truck, the other is in the warehouse but they can't let me know when it can be delivered - so I can use 2 of the pieces I ordered two months ago! And for the "white glove" we unpack and take away the packaging, not true, all of the completely intact boxes are in my trash bin! On a positive note, the poor customer service people that have to deal with these issues were good listeners but don't have access to the tools they need to solve customer problems. read more

Well where to began. I read all reviews and pretty much the say what I have experienced at Macy's. Customer Service is the worst there. Especially at the Estee Lauder counter. This product is not cheap so you would think they would have someone behind the counter that is willing to help NOOOOO , the first question the girl asked me is "What you want to buy?" She was rude and quick. I was embarrassed to even stand their and ask for help picking a product. I had my daughter with me and when we left my daughter said. We showed up to Macy's at 2:00 pm to find out that their door buster sale ended at 1:00 pm but they were still giving the customers in line the discounts. All the signs were still up buy one get one free and and door buster sales that had percentages off were all still up. I think if the signs are still up you have to give the customer the sale price. Macy's doesn't stand by their word and I do not review places very often and let me tell you that I'm not every shopping at Macy's again. I would give no stars if I could!!! read more

Can't speak much for the Women's store, but I've always been pleased with the Men's/Home one. Employees have been mostly friendly and the men's clothing selection is pretty good. I like that they carry Sean John here because the Macy's at North County Fair doesn't. The one issue I have is with cleanliness - things are usually always a mess, and the dressing rooms are in pretty bad shape. Also, the restrooms are only located on the deserted 3rd floor, and you have to take a half-broken elevator and walk through office space stuck in the 1980's to get to them. read more
