I got robbed here by a mall employee in the women's fragrance department!!! I bought a two set perfume and when I got home and opened it there was only one. Instead of the second, smaller sized perfume, I got a hand lotion. I never felt so disrespected before in my life. I was hustled by a mall employee at Bellevue Mall. I hope the management at Macy's is reading this because the woman that hustled me will be fired. read more

I am starting to hate Macy's just because of the customer service here, the customer service is awful. We have come by twice to the Customer Service area to do a pick up from an online order. One time I came when there was no customers behind me and sale associate says "the online pickup is that line over there." I thought, sure, no big deal. Unfortunately, the person in front of me was taking a lot longer than expected. Then someone waited in line behind me and the same sales associate told them to come up because I am waiting for an online pick up. I had my code ready for a good 5-10 minutes but she didn't even bother helping me, just because I have an "online pickup." I got so upset and left. While I was leaving, I saw the sales associate leaving soon after helping the last customer. It's like she was trying to get out of their asap and did want to work. Now I will not want to return to Macy's just because of this awful experience. I love Macy's as far as finding deals and using coupons. The only problem I have is when I use a coupon and the total is only a few cents away from where it needs to be for the coupon to work. It is a major pain when there is nothing on the racks for under $5 and I end up having to buy a $4 chocolate bar for no reason. It also has become a pain with the professionalism that this store has when I shop in the men's section. At times I feel that I'm being ignored because of the way that I look. I also constantly find myself watching their employees talking with one another so loud that I can hear every detail of their conversations. * last time I went in, I had this terrific lady ask me if I wanted help even when I was half way accords the store from her (she took the initiative), she introduced her name and said if I need anything that she would be happy to assist, and she was great when she checked me out at the register. This review is to praise the supervisory skills of Alla in the Perfume Department in Bellevue Macy's. I returned an unopened fragrance and she cut through the bureaucratic mumbo jumbo to refund my money. I will definitely return to buy all my fragrances from her and Sandy, a stellar salesperson. Alla immediately calmed my anxiety and handled everything like a professional. Sandy can find fragrances to match any particular person, she is very knowledgeable and attentive. Kudos!!! read more

Customer service is about as good as it gets. This review is coming from someone who used to work for the company and believe me when I say that they don't care for their employees either. It's very easy to pretend to care but everyone is fake, narcissistic and actively tries to mask their agendas with pretty words. No one will say it to your face but people that work there will low-key tell you why they don't like you or how bad you are at your job. Noone is ever straight up about anything which is why working there is a toxic environment and I don't recommend working there for anyone at all. People might pretend to be your friend there but in reality, the employee community lacks genuine empathy for customers and employees alike. If anyone is concerned about customer service, well the employee community within the store is just as turmoil. 1/10 would not recommend anyone to work there. read more

Is there anything I can tell you about what Macy's has or what it does that could possibly change your perception of the place? It's huge. They have everything. They have trained experts in the everythings they offer. These experts show you a certain look in the eye and an easy smile when you get near the everythings. I carried a very nice, very expensive blanket of some sort back in here today, to be returned for its full sale price. Even at a screaming deal, I still can't believe anyone I know ever paid that much for any one blanket. I don't know that I have paid that much for every blanket I have ever owned, put together. But it sure was a nice warm blanket, I will give it that. I carried it musta been a couple blocks from one end of the mall to the other, and my side was feeling pretty sultry by the time I finally got to set that big hog down on the returns counter. I am so irritated with the customer service at Macy's these days, regardless of the Macy's location. I was at the Bellevue Macy's two days ago to purchase a "The North Face" jacket. I found what I was looking for and proceeded to the check out. There was only one check stand open in my area. It was the one in Ralph Lauren department, right across from where I found my jacket. A woman and her elderly mother were checking out before me. As I walked up, I heard the associate ask the ladies if they spoke Spanish. I certainly don't have a problem with this, I think it's great that she was able to provide that skill for a guest, but she stopped checking them out and was chatting. I waited almost 10 whole minutes for them to check out. The only reason that I didn't leave to another location was that I kept assuming they were almost done, that and there were no other locations available (there were a couple that I passed on my way to my department, but they all had long lines). When their exchange finally concluded, the associate didn't apologize, thank me for waiting, or even ask if I found everything I was looking for. Just as she was scanning my jacket, a younger associate arrived. The gal checking me out proceeded to set my transaction on hold while she chatted with the new arrival in Spanish. I had one item. I'm sure the conversation could have waited. The tipping factor on the scale was that she was beyond pushy on trying to get me to sign up for a Macy's credit card. She asked if I would like to pay on my Macy's card, I said no thank you. Then she asked if I had a card or if I would like to apply for one. I said no and no thank you. She then asked if I was sure and that I would save 20%. I again said no thank you. The absurdness started after that. She said, "why not? There's no one behind you." I said no thank you. "But why not? You save 20%, why wouldn't you?" I was a bit shocked and responded, "I'm a college student who has no credit. I wouldn't get approved anyways." She then said that we could try. I finally told her I didn't want a credit card. For the remainder of the transaction, she kept looking around and looking at her watch several times. When we were done, she just handed me my bag without so much as a "thank you" or "have a good day". This service was unacceptable, yet very common at Macy's. read more

I had to walk the entire floor to find someone to help me in the Juniors section. When I finally found someone service was dismissal and curt. I wanted to exchange a defective item and she was able to order a replacement since there was none available. I had suspected the tag wasn't the original tag and when I questioned whether the new replacement item would be correct, she simply said that it would be what it is. This was not a reassuring response at all. As I'd suspected,there was a mismatch between the item and tag. It was the wrong color. Thankfully it was a color I liked so I didn't need to return it. I think they have some improvement if they want to bring themselves up to the Nordstrom level. read more

I came in this weekend to do some returns and get a couple things. I first went up stairs to the bra department. And me and the lady in front of me waited several minutes to be noticed by the sales rep with her back to us at the cash wrap. She turned around and was like, "i'll be right with you" and walked away to deliver another customer's requests. Another lady finally came up and helped me with my return. Then I went downstairs in the shoe department and picked up some socks. I went to the cash wrap and again waited probably 3-4 mins to be NOTICED by a sales person who said, "i'll be right with you." I never saw her but some other girl came up to me and checked me out...all I wanted was some socks. It was pretty busy in there but all I had to buy was 1 pack of socks...really? I was pretty disappointed in the customer service. Don't tell me "i'll be right there." Tell me "let me get someone to help you," and be proactive. I know you all are on commission so the customer service should be above and beyond. But the fact that I got it from 2 different departments is just annoying. I just wanted to get in and get out. read more

The customer service is hit or miss - salespeople aren't readily available when you need to make a purchase. On the plus side, the ones you do see are friendly and helpful. I am giving a one star review for my last visit - for the terrible customer service at the Bellevue Square store home department. As I shopped, I noticed signs for a "plenti" program. I asked the salesperson what that was, and she explained it was a type of rewards program. I asked if you had to have a Macy's credit card to participate and she said no, but you should get one. At that point, I said something to the effect of "oh, then that won't work for me since I use a debit card to pay for everything." She then told me using debit/cash was a "foolish" way to shop since your money can't be replaced if it gets stolen. At that point I should've just walked away, but I wanted to correct her and say that wasn't true - when my debit card information was stolen by a deli shop employee, my credit union promptly replaced my money. She proceeded to say that never happens and only Boeing Credit Union does that and that it's not smart to shop with a debit card. That's when I walked away and out of the store. read more

I went into this Macy's for one simple item, a belt. The salesgirl was nice enough, but once we got to the actual sales transaction the experience turned into the Twilight Zone. I had a small amount left on an old gift card and wanted to pay for the remainder with my credit card. I don't know if she thought I was poor or if she was just trying to be helpful, but she kept referring to how expensive the belt was and that I could get extra money off the total if I purchased another gift card to get the additional 20% discount. I informed her that I didn't care about the cost and just wanted to pay the remaining balance. We went back and forth at least five times and finally I asked her to find a supervisor because it was clear that she didn't know what she was doing. She refused and just repeated herself over and over regarding the need for me to purchase a gift card to complete the sale. She tried to call one of her associates to assist and he just completely ignored her. Admittedly he was with a customer, but at this point I'm losing my patience and running late for a lunch appointment now that we've spent 10 minutes on ONE sale. I raised my voice to both of them and let them know that they needed to finish the process or I was going to leave and finally they both walk over and he realizes that she has not been trained on how to handle the POS system when customers don't want to pay the full amount with a gift card. It was one simple click that she missed. What irritates me is that no one apologized for the inconvenience and this girl just completely refused to find a manager to assist her despite numerous requests from my end. Additionally, as others have mentioned in previous reviews, there is an obvious training issue. This isn't rocket science, people! And, yes, I've worked in retail so I can speak from experience. Don't set your employees up for failure! In short, this particular Macy's has lost my business. There are plenty of other places that value employees and promote effective customer service. read more

Stop trying to sell me your stupid Macy's card! Just let me pay cash and be on my way, do you realize you lose me as a customer for weeks at a time when you do this? The once upscale atmosphere of this classic store is long gone. It used to feel special shopping at Macy's given their history, now it feels like any other mall department store. Where's the restaurant? And the decorations? This place was a let down at Christmas. For my part I find myself spending more time at Nordstrom's, with the full service sit down restaurant, bar, cafe, customer service at the mall entrance, I can spend all day there, they haven't forgotten what made shopping at a department store so unique in the first place. If Macy's is not careful they will end up faded and out of touch like Sears. The polo shop is the only exception that I can see, customer service is excellent, but they hawk their dumb credit card in there too. read more

I went shopping for suits, and it happened to be one of those Macy sales. I know at a place like the mall, you get your options on whether you want to go high or low--but this place has some pretty reasonable prices if you know what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. If you've got the dough, sure--treat yourself away at the big stuff. However, for the regular guys actually living on a budget, this place definitely doesn't compromise the quality at discounted prices. One of the more elderly gentlemen there, Benedito--was very nice to us and helped me find some good suits on a budget. He wasn't pushy like most people, and gave us that balance of freedom, and appeared when we needed some assistance. We spent some time there trying on several clothes, and he was very patient despite how much time flew by! Overall, I was able to snag some suits to add to my wardrobe. With guys like Benedito, shopping there has been enjoyable. If you're looking for a suit, be sure to make sure he's on the clock. Thanks! read more

This Macy's is located inside the Bellevue Square shopping center. It has all the standard stuff you would expect to find at a Macy's. I do like shopping here because its not far from my work, so it makes for an easy stop on the way home and the free parking is great. Outside of that, I have never noticed anything to make me give it more than an average rating. If you know Macy's, you know what you'll get here. read more

I have always good experience with Macy's. Their associates are always welcome me warmly and ask me if they can help me find what am I looking for. Most times their fitting rooms are not crowded, you can take your time and try the items you are interested. Usually if you need advise or questions there is at least one associate is available to help you. Most of the brand items are on Sale and if you really like an item they might be able to give you some discounts as well. I am not sure how that works really. Also their price check stations are visible and convenient. I believe what separates Macy's from it's competitors is the variety in selection and knowing that you will most likely will find what you are looking for there. Holiday times their stores gets really busy, I would bee more strategic on what time to go there for a comfortable shopping. read more

This rating is based on the women's shoe department, which was probably the worst service experience I've ever had. I came here on an early Saturday morning to get some shoes for my mom. I found what I was looking for and walked up to the counter to ask for the shoe. The employee told me early on, and at least five times throughout the FORTY FIVE minutes it took her to find the shoes and ring me up, that she was new and didn't know what she was doing. She asked for help from other employees but since they were busy, it wasn't very successful. Other customers even got annoyed at her because she was distracting the employees who were helping them - domino effect, yikes! I was in disbelief how long everything took though and even thought for a second that I was getting tricked on candid camera or something. Anyway, Macy's please train your staff. It can get busy on Saturdays and your employees don't have time to learn from other employees during working hours.. it leads to unhappy employees and customers. read more

I went to buy a pair of athletic shoes. After waiting for 20 minutes to get a size I wanted I had to go over to the women's shoes for help. Then the sales person acknowledged the price on the tag, but said its $5.00 more and shrugged her shoulders. So I waited another 15 minutes to speak to a manager who also shrugged her shoulders and said The Finish Line is a separate company from Macy's and they have no input. I will never step one foot into that store again. I ended up over at Nordstrom's and paid over double for a pair of shoes and was happy about it! read more

Worst department store I have ever been to. Will file complaint via BBB and macys customer services. I have been driving to this store 4 times before I can get a single tshirt. The first time I went there, my request to match the online price and coupon was refused rudely by the sales person, even after I showed her the term which clearly states that the coupon works both online and in-store. The second time, I took the online chat script with a representative to the same sales person and she said we don't honor anything online. I created an online order for that item and chose to pick up in store. I confirmed with the registry that if I can find that item myself, I can take that as I have already paid online. This doesn't work for that sales person either. I said I am going to file a complaint against you and I asked for her name. She refused to tell me her name (she didn't wear a name tag in front of her) and she's like "go ahead I don't care" and she tried to serve the next customer. After a few argument with her, she reluctantly called her manager. Her manger, Sarah, came and she agreed to match my online order. However, the drama didn't end there. That sales person played with my macys card a few times and told me my card is locked due to some of her operations. I am sorry if I am spoiled by the nice sales person in the SoCal, but what this lady have done is really ignorant, arrogant and retaliative. I wish I would never need to come to this lady again in my life. read more

Macy is usually my all time favorite department store to shop at when I am purchasing make up from Estée Lauder. Usually I go to the Macy's at the Alderwood mall in Lynnwood but since I was in Bellevue I thought I would pick up my foundation here. 1st let me start off saying I had to chase down someone to help me. The lady at the counter was helping someone so I didn't mind waiting. Once I waited until she was finished I asked her if she could help me and she give me the hand, telling me to hold on, and walks away. I waited and I see her organizing make up and talking to her co worker. I didn't mind waiting again and then someone new came and asked for help. She stops everything and starts helping her. Again I waited for her to finish and after I approached her again requesting help on purchasing foundation; AGAIN she tells me to hold on she goes back to organizing her make up. At this point I was fed up. I went up to her and told her I needed foundation and that was all. And she finally stopped and helped me. I told her I couldn't remember which color I needed and asked if she help me and she didn't even bother testing the foundation on my skin. She just looks at me and just says "this looks right". He didn't sample anything on my skin. She just assumed one color and she tells me they didn't have it in stock. We just stood there for a moment and stared at each other. She didn't even offer to order it... I had to mention it since nothing was happening. In the end I get the foundation in the mail...it was not my color. I ended up going to Lynnwood and getting my make up there. Long story short Bellevue treated me with no respect and I will not be back. read more

A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I were looking to upgrade our bed. So naturally we went to Macy's because they had been advertising a big mattress sale. We went in one day to test out the mattresses, we didn't but yet because we wanted to discuss and review our options. We went back the next week to buy our new mattress and box spring...only to find that they had no one to sell us them! What?! We had two salespeople tell us they could not help us but they could get out info so that someone could call us. Wth?! We left and purchased our new bed elsewhere. Insanely slow checkout process, it is as if the store didn't want it's customer to buy the stuff anyway

ordered through an online wedding registry. I ordered 2 items for in store pick up that were marked as available. the items were $200 and $300. 2 hours later i received an email that only one item was available and the other was canceled. Not wanting to visit multiple stores i called to cancel the order and pick up both at another store. I was told that i could not cancel my order and i HAD to go to the store. I had no choice. I was also told that the store sole 7 $300 kitchen aid mixers in a 2 hour period. I was hung up on 3 times (accidentally of course). I spoke to a total of 7 people and was on hold for 45 minutes total. what a waste of time and a total lack of customer service for their short coming. I will NEVER in my life spend another dollar with MACY's as they basically stole $200 from me. read more

I was at Macy's to buy some Clinique products today . A lady there was not paying attention to people waiting and tried not to make any eye contact. I was extremely uncomfortable and did not know what to do. At least she should have said that she was helping others and let people know that it might take time or something. I wanted to share a very positive experience with Cori in the Electrics Department. I ordered and paid for a Ninja Coffeebar online then went to the store to pick it up a few hours later. Cori, knowing the inventory immediately told that there must have been a mistake as they hadn't received that model. She helped me cancel the order and sold me a similar in stock item. Cori was very personable and confident. I haven't really had any meaningful interactions with any employees there over the past few years, was a nice change. read more

Pretty lame Macy's. It's very small compared to other stores but that's not my big problem with the place. It's the service which is completely rude. I had some friends visiting me who live in the woods basically and they were very excited to go into the "city". The 13 year old daughter of my friend was sooo excited to see an escalator, apparently she'd never been on one. Well when she went up and down a couple of times a worker yelled at her. I went here to get a specific item that was on close-out. I needed 2 bath sheets but they only had one in the color I wanted despite it being listed on their website as in-stock. The sales associate was very kind and attentive. She went back to storage to check if they had any left, when she came back, she was very apologetic about the time it took for her to look. We ended up having to order it online. The bath sheet showed up 3 days later at my door for no extra cost. I even got an extra 15% for being patient about the process. Macy's really takes care of my customers! My only regret is not getting the sales associate's name because she was RAD! read more
