What happened to Macy's, especially to this Arcadia store??? I didn't go there for several years, since I was busy. Meanwhile I read the news Macy's is closing many stores nationwide. Now I know why. Such a rundown, it was ok before. If sales clerks don't help customers, only learned not to smile, know how to ignore customers and talk among themselves, just mean to you if you ask something, then better to go to Ross, TJMxx or Target. Beware the headquarter management, simply they don't work, maybe because if they sell or not their wages are the same, so they don't work, of course. No work ethics at all there. My experiences at women's handbags, cosmetic counter, women's shoes are all bad to terrible. I chose the bag, but their(not only one, whole clues there) rude attitudes are just unbearable, so I went to the other cashier to buy. Even coming back home, I had sour feeling towards that bag, but no fault of the bag. Macy's headquarters, please, do something. Remain in this way, Macy's Arcadia is really only a junkyard with people trying the best to expel customers. If no change, better to close this store soon. I was at Macy's today in Santa Anita mall as well as another one earlier in the day. A little back story here. I was cleaning around the house and found a gift card from Robinson-May. I knew that some years ago Macy's bought them out so I was hoping my R-M gift card would be valid at Macy's. Called to check the balance but was told was an invalid card number. Spoke to Customer Service and they said it is valid and all I need to do is go to a Macy's location to get it converted to a Macy's gift card. CS said it is good for $50. Nice!!! Okay, so I go to a Macy's but NOT the one on Lake, I will leave the location unknown in this review. The first Macy's I went to couldn't convert it. The guy thought the server was down and said to go to another location. Turns out it isn't the server but it is just difficult to convert a R-M card to Macy's. Also can't be converted at a regular register. This is not a common request. So I leave and go to Macy's in the Santa Anita Mall. Next paragraph, LOL ... ,,, Okay I walk in and end up at the Jewelry Counter and see one of the jewelry representatives there and explain the situation. I got her name and she is Sonia. Sonia was very pleasant and very helpful as well. Professional service is what she delivers. Sonia wasn't sure if this kind of transaction could be done at a regular register. She tried but the registers are not programmed to do such transactions, only designed to work with the new gift cards. So she said she would get a manager to help me who has the rights to do such a transaction on another computer in the back. So she brought over a manager who's name I noticed on her badge was Yvonne. Yvonne was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I follow Yvonne upstairs and she goes in the back and explains to a man who does these transactions. He gets it done in a matter of minutes. So now I basically have a $50 credit for Macy's. I didn't buy anything but I plan to in about a couple weeks. I can go to a number of their locations but in my opinion the level of Customer Service is so high that I plan on returning there to make my purchases. Other Macy's locations have really good CS but because Sonia, Yvonne, and the man were so helpful and genuinely friendly that I will honor that store as a customer. They honored me with high customer service that I will honor them. I also would like to add that my mom a couple of months ago was in need of a cashmere sweater as a gift for a male family member. So we go to Macy's at this location. They were all but out of these sweaters but had a couple on the sale rack mixed in with other non-cashmeres so finding is hard to do. Well, the lady working there whom sadly I forget her name was so helpful. All I can describer her as an older German woman. She is sooooo friendly and knowledgeable. She went thru the sales rack and found the one of two last cashmere sweaters so my mom bought it. She found them quick. Took her a minute or less but if my mom and I looked it would have taken like 10 to 15 minutes. The German lady is a pro. She worked at that location for 40 years through all the changes in store names and ownership. Also being on sale the price was incredible. Prior to getting help from her we witnessed her helping an older Asian lady. She helped her out and was so friendly to the lady. The lady she was helping was clearly happy with the level of service and friendliness the German lady provided. One last thing. I went to this Macy with my friend Xiaoyan in mid December. I believe it was the 8th of December Xiaoyan and I were there and was about 9:15 PM. Christmas hours. She purchased some makeup at the makeup counter (of course). She buys all her makeup there and says the makeup there is really good and for the quality you get the prices are very good, especially if on sale. The sales lady whom I forgot her name was very friendly and knowledgeable. I believe the sales lady was Armenian but don't know her name. Not only are Sonia, Yvonne, the guy who did the gift card conversion), the German lady, and the makeup lady really helpful and true gems but my experience with other staff members there were really a pleasure and helpful. Thank you Sonia, Yvonne, the guy, the German lady, and the Armenian lady. Bottom line is that I have always had great experience at this location and will continue to shop there. I've had two bad experiences with customer service while trying to get a new credit card. They were supposed to send out one a month ago and it would take 7 to 10 days. They never did. I called again and waited 30 minutes for a customer 'service' rep to pick up. Again requested a new card, so we'll see. At the end of the call, I waited for the survey so I could let Macy's know about the problem, and, not surprising, I was told by the rep that the survey option wasn't working. Come here all the time, but I have to say that less than a week before Christmas I didn't expect the store to be as organized as it was, and the staff to still be friendly and helpful. We came yesterday and my son misplaced his reusable shopping bag with his gifts for me and his sister. Came home and he was devastated. In the morning I called lost n found, they had it, and after school today I brought my son to retrieve it. They were friendly and my son was so happy and grateful. Then, I exchanged some shoes and bought new ones today and again, most everything was in its place and the employees in shoes were very helpful. Parking is tough, but it's less than a week till Christmas, and I actually got a great spot by chance to days in a row! read more

I placed a stainless steel dinnerware on August 5 online in Macys.com. System indicated it is AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP at Santa Anita Store at the time. On the next day, I received an E-mail that saying sorry for part of the order unable to fulfill and notified me to place the order again. But I found out the promotion price have been increased to $49.99. Of course there have either management or integrity problems with this case. The status of stainless steel dinnerware right now showing online is "picked up". But actually I did not. Santa Anita store not follow up with my order, not reporting and referral my case to online store and try to make another arrangement. They do nothing with it. Resulting customer have to PAY MORE for reorder. And customer have to respond for this management 's fault. It is not customer's fault. Of course there is something went wrong. I bought a dress on sale tagged sale price. I noticed on the receipt they did not give me the tagged sale price. The sales lady said the dress was full price. I told her it was tagged on sale at sale rack. She wanted me to show her where i got the dress. She noticed it was the "last one". She asked her coworker what to do, and the coworker told me "we usually give you the sale price if there are more dresses of that style". I told her "could it be it was on sale because it was the LAST ONE"? Her coworker told her to call the mgr. Aftr calling the manager twice, no answer. FTR....really? i don't even live here anymore! does that mean i have to write a complete review? y'all know what macy's is, right? good. after printing out the 7 foot long (no, i'm not exaggerating) wedding registry, my BFF narrows her choices down to a handful in her price range. we look for the blender.....negative. then the barware.....nada. flatware.....nope. we finally go back to the counter where the employees are doing nothing, even with a manager pacing the floor. the chick checks the computer and says no blenders. says the barware should be "around the corner and you can ask someone there to help you". (i later find out she's preggars. please tell me that's not why you wouldn't walk us over lady!) we circle that area and still no barware. another lady sitting at the wedding registry desk chatting it up with a friend tells us, "someone will be here shortly". (hello??? get off your ass and help us!) we notice two old men in the luggage dept next door, but don't think they're able to help us, so we don't ask. with my BFF frustrated and wanting to leave, i go back to the manager and ask for help again. he takes us to the two men in the luggage dept. one of the sweet old men takes us all the way to the other side.....right where the counter was where ms. preggars is, and bam........barware! WTF? a 15 minute trip into macy's ended up being about 45. (they weren't even busy!!!) no bueno. This Macy's is just ok. It's always super packed and the staff seems to avoid eye contact with everyone so they can just run around and check their phones. I came to return some items that were on my wedding registry that were fulfilled wrong. Someone bought me a pillow and sent it through the mail. I got JEANS, even though the packing slip said pillow and was checked off. It took two hours to return the 6 items! I also wanted to buy some champagne flutes and a cake cutter for the ceremony and they couldn't find my Macy's card number, then they found it and then they lost it. I just lost it and said, "I'll pay with a different card!". Lastly, they kept asking me if I had signed up with some points or another for my registry and I kept saying no, because Macy's wasn't our main registry and they kept looking at each other like, "oh, she didn't sign up for these points. There are instructions on the return receipt for the workers.. Why was it so difficult?? Then on top of everything... The employee helping me, Alicia (Store Manager in the Tuxedo Shop) was absolutely fantastic. I came in with printed numbers and scratched notes for the wedding I am attending in just over 2 weeks. She was able to figure out what the bride/groom wanted me to wear and had me fitted in no time! I couldn't believe how patient and professional she was. I went to Macys today for Dress shoes for a wedding coming up. I decided to try a few black shoes that looked good with the suite im going to wear. I finally pick out a few shoes and walked up to the desk to ask for my size. I took about 3 shoes up there and the lady came back saying they had nothing in my size. Im a size 12. I asked if they had anything in 11-11.5 for the shoes and they came back with the same results. Nothing. I went back and pick out another 3 and asked in both 11 and 12 sizes. She came back and said nothing is available in the sizes you requested. So I went back and pick out another 3 shoes, at this point im 50/50 on the shoes im taking up there. Again nothing in size 11-12. I flat out asked the lady do you have anything back there in size 11-12 and she said you need to bring the shoe to me first. I though this was being done on purpose however after asking a few people we discovered that this is a norm at Arcadia Macys. Don't need to go back, Nordstrom's will break my back but its better then getting the runaround. read more

I just left Macy's and had the worst shopping experience. I went with my sister to look for a birthday gift for our mom. We found this cute brown Michael Kors bag for her. It didn't have a price tag and was on sale. It was on a table with other bags that were on sale as well and it was the last one! My brother rented his prom tuxedo from the tuxedo shop at this Macys. I think it's new so at first I was unsure but I really liked the styles they had. So my mom, my toddler and I went yesterday. The service was good, but the selection in women's clothing was limited! Not all of the brands advertised are offered at this Macy's. The other thing I really disliked was how unsafe it was. CARELESS mistakes by employees. An empty clothes rack was just hanging out and an older lady didn't see it and ALMOST fell! She was so scared and was in tears! She was very shaken up and I felt so sorry for her. The other thing is that the employees had left some tools near the dressing room...including an EXACTO KNIFE! *BEWARE OF SIZING YOUR WATCH AFTER PURCHASING* Sorry for the long review... I purchased a Michael Kors watch from the Macys in Montebello Town Center. I was a bit iffy about the purchase and asked the sales associate whether I would be able to return it if I changed my mind. He assured me I could return the watch within 6 months as long as it is unused. Knowing that I was not 100% sure about keeping the watch, he offered to size it for me. When I declined, he continued to insist to resize it. HE DID NOT TELL ME ONCE IT GETS RESIZED, IT IS NO LONGER RETURNABLE. Thankfully, I still said no (without the prior knowledge). 2 days later I go to Nordstrom in Westfield Santa Anita. I decide to return the watch at that Macys (opposed to going back to Montebello Town Center) since I'm already there. The watch was not resized, it was unused and in the box with tags attached, and still even had plastic on the clasp. The associate asks me if it has been resized, and I say no. She proceeds to tell me that if it has been resized I cannot return it (the first time being told so). Again, I say no. She inspects the watch and tells me it has been resized. She holds the watch by the face and shows me how it "hangs unevenly." I continue to say it has not been resized. The associate talks to her manager and tells me it cannot be returned. I tell her once more that it has not been resized. So she grabs the same watch in the display case and compares the two. They look identical. She says, see yours is obviously shorter. I ask her which one is mine. She cannot tell without looking at which one has the Macys sticker with the bar code. I point out she could not tell the difference without looking for the sticker. She counters with, yes I can. At this point this "hassle free" return has taken several minutes. She then counts the links in front of me!! YES, SHE ACTUALLY COUNTS THEM!! Once all the links are accounted for, she FINALLY returns the watch. The associate was rude and condescending. My best advice: buy your watches from Nordstrom. I purchased a microwave on Monday in which they said they had a carry out service located outside of store. When I went to that pick up location, it was closed and I rang the doorbell a few times and nobody answered. I came back on Tuesday, and same thing. Nobody answered the doorbell and the warehouse was closed. I came back today, walked back into the department store, have been standing here for the past HOUR. They keep telling me they are going to bring it down, but I'm still waiting. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING, ANNOYING, BAD BUSINESS, it's no wonder Macy's is going under. I just wanted to make a review especially for Angel in the Perfume department, she was a middle aged Asian lady and was super helpful and kind today. Although, I would like to point out how disgusting her coworkers were towards her in front of other customers. She seemed like she was doing what she had to do but apparently not fast enough because they were rushing her and the two older Hispanic ladies were conversating amongst themselves and I heard them say "what the fuck is she doing, she's taking so long" and then removed her from the register even though she already rang up my products and made her re-do my transaction on another register so they can assist "their" customers. Then, to top it off at the end, after spending $400+ Angel gave me and my cousin a "gift" which was super sweet and of course her rude coworkers said "nobody said anything about a gift". I don't know if there were certain things you had to buy to receive a free gift but I spent good money here so I thought it was great of Angel to do that for us. I really hope management takes the right actions to get rid of these rude ladies especially for doing it IN FRONT of customers. This past Friday (weekday, not even the weekend, mind you !), I went to Macy's to look at and purchase a suit. The staff in the men's department seem to have a lot of time to gossip and complain about other employees in the store rather than approach and sell to prospects who come into their department. These so called 'salespeople' must be paid hourly rather than on a commission basis, as they don't courteously greet or even approach the prospects that appear in their department ! (These employees must have their own agenda, rather than serving customers !) I suppose Macy's has been relegated from what was once a first class department store to a notch above K-Mart. This place sucks ! I don't blame the poor employees, I blame the poor store management of this Macy's - train your employees better ! I am taking my business over to Nordstrom, a few doors down, where I am greeted courteously and treated like a customer. At this Macy's, I was treated like I was 'invisible' !
